I went to a steakhouse of some import, that shall remain nameless (Ruth's Chris), and when one young couple asked for catsup with their beautfully marbled porterhouses the chef appeared and politely asked them to "get the f*ck out".

It was a bad scene, but I didn't really disagree with the chef. These folks were ruining his food ; his art, and he just could not stand it.

Oohhhh. That could not have been good.

Did any of the patrons around them say anything or was it a scene of violent eye rolling and hushed hissing?

Sounds wonderful to me Pita. Save me a big plate. People don't seem to be in a very sharing mood today. A little smoke and brew is just what the doctor ordered.

Had I been there, I'd have stood up, applauded, sung "Hallelujah!", and given the chef a big, wet one on the lips! Unfortunately, I can't afford Ruth's Chris.

Yet again, I've just realized I was OTing on the wrong thread.

I do hope the new folks will be understanding, as well as those who have been here before me.

*Sometimezers is a terrible thing. Lemme tell you.

*Make no mistake, I do not mock those with Alzheimers, per se, as the gene runs rampant in my maternal line. My brother and I joke about flipping a coin to see which one of us is due next. It is a comment meant to be laughed at for fear or crying. That is all.

I am peripherally watching "The Mouse Trap" with the kids. Have I ever mentioned my adoration of Nathan Lane? NO? Well, sit down, then. biggrin.gif

I care not, what anyone else may say disparagingly, I love him.

The Producers
The Birdcage

His Broadway work? fugghettaboutit.
Pita
Speaking of Mouse Trap, we were weren't we?

If any of you tell me you don't like Christopher Walken, I might have to take my leave.

Don't lie just to make me leave, ya ingrates. mad.gif laugh.gif

Christopher Walken makes me swoon. Yes, I said swoon. He reminds me so much of a High School love/lust, physically, I can't ' stand it. Call me crazy, and you will, but he stokes the fire.

He is funny.

He is creepy.

He can dance. Have have you seen "Pennies from Heaven"? Trained! Trained dancer, I tell ya!

The Suicide Kings? C'Mon?!

Want to know what makes him even sexier to me? He's been married to the same woman for umpteen years! Go Georgia! smile.gif

Drew and I saw "Sex and the City" tonight. Is it a great film? No, but as summer entertainment, and one that leaves you with something to think about after, it's wildly successful.

All four actressess are sublime, the Patricia Field costuming is sensational, and it's great to see the addition of Jennifer Hudson to the cast. It's the third terrific film of the summer season

*big sigh*

Look at it this way, at least when you talk to yourself, you are guaranteed an intelligent conversation!!!! (I've owned this line for the last 40 years LOL! One of my favorites!)

Anyway.....I have actually been out of my mind busy......just met my first deadline for the publishers.....outline, three chapters, and my bio! Wish me luck.

I've also ended up being the moving force in an effort to save my son's charter high school. EEK! Today we did a recruiting table at one of the larger middle schools. It was so funny, though the fashions and hairstyles have changed, kids are still kids are still kids.....whether it is from the "dark ages" (like the 60's LOL) or our hip hop, IPod plugged in, cell phone toting kids of today!

Twas fun, but tiring. Later all, need I say it? Time to say "Goodnite Jazzie"
so

Ok so none of y'all share my excitement of my buyin' my latest cookbook "Rocco's"...But any cookbook, that makes me feel so inspired, that I "have" to try a recipe from it the very first time I read it(even if I have to modify it)is a GOOD cookbook...Unlike say "Top Chef the Cookbook" wherein the very first recipe can not possibly be right..."Step 3 Cook egg to desired firmness...wait for it...and SET ASIDE" OMG what??? ohmy.gif ...You do NOT cook an egg(unless it's hard boiled)and set it aside-to what congeal... ohmy.gif ...Wait 3 more steps to combine the egg, and the other ingrediance...As an amature I know you do NOT let an egg sit...Looks like the elves didn't really have anybody really check the recipies...Just used the ones from the site...

If you're serious about this—and you're talking about, say, brulée-ing the top of a custard—all you have to do is shove the dish under the broiler. Watch carefully, as it takes very little time (less than a minute), and there's nothing worse than burnt, black sugar.

For those with questions about Kashruth, there's much, much more to it than simply separating meat and dairy. There are restrictions on what kinds of meat one can eat and how it must be slaughtered and prepared prior to cooking. There are also restrictions on what kind of fish is allowable and how it must be caught. Even wine must be prepared in a specific manner to be considered Kosher.

And, of course, Passover adds a whole extra layer to the dietary restrictions—which also differ between Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jews.

I don't know that I would say he's better, just a little more mobile. Taking a man with an arm cast and a full leg cast out can be a chore, and by the time we got home he was done, but I had promised him that we would see this film the first day, and I keep my promises.

You should have seen me on the phone, earlier in the day, finding a movie theater, and a restaurant, where he would be comfortable. I don't know how people who have permanent handicaps do anything at all. It is a chore.

My friend, Steve, once said to me, while we were chatting on the phone, years ago, that "you guys are the best boyfriends I know". I thought that was nice of him to say, and sometimes I do have my moments. There are those other times, of course, but I think I did pretty good on this occasion.

Good Evening Tater, I don't think I am depressed at all. I'm really proud of myself and happy to be smoke free. I am thinking that the nicotene is just cleared out and without that horrible stimulant my body is just dragging. Guess how old I am? 55 same as you and probably smoked for just as long. what a coincidence. My hubby is also very supportive and proud of me. Tomorrow I am going to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning and I'm checkin into getting my teeth whitened. I am also calling my Dr and get an appt. I might need some bloodwork and it's possible that my levels are down. I had been diagnosed with vit d def
several months ago and had to take a huge dose of vit d for 4 months I had it retested a couple of months ago and it was fine but now that I have quit the evil weed I may need to check it again. I am really in a good place except for the tired all the time thing and once that is ironed out, look out world here I come....................

Congrats! Still pulling for you! If you have blood work done, you may want to request that your thyroid level be checked. Do you take any vitamins or other supplements? Coming off nicotine has a huge impact on the chemical balance of one's body. It usually takes a minimum of 30 days for the body to begin adjusting itself (longer the older we get). Have you gotten off the patch yet? Nicotine addiction actually only lasts for 48 hours (incredibly). I would start counting the days from going off the patch (instead of off the smokes). It is not at all uncommon to fell lethargic while you are adjusting. Happy to hear your not feeling depressed (that's common, too)!

GOOD ON YA'!! smile.gifsmile.gif Having your teeth cleaned is a GREAT idea/reward.

My sweet wonderful hubby took me to lunch. Received a new computer for my birthday gift, because most of my volunteer work is done from the computer. Got new software a few months earlier.

Dearest Bear,

Forgive me. I know Drew was...and is injured. Somehow I missed the post which described how it happened. Was he in an auto accident? Please update me when you have a chance. (Or if anyone else has knowledge of what happened, that would be fine as well.)

I surely am glad that he is home and recovering...however slowly. I am thinking about you and Drew and Denny. Not easy on anyone....sigh.
