Oh, I think we'll make fast friends. biggrin.gif

Welcome!

Please feel free to wax poetic, post a musical tribute, B*tch about anything (work, person[although, I'd like to think of this as a "No Lisa" Zone -it might just be wishful thinking], gas prices, etc. ), have a drink (or several), tell us about yourself-I personally love little personal vignettes, or just sit back and relax.

Cool beans Man!

I have a Fuzzy Navel because, if you hadn't noticed, I'm hankerin' a good ripe peach which is still about a week away.

Pita,

Been there, done that, and have the footprint bruises to prove it. It's the ones that are "nice" and "good-hearted" that get walked all over. I guess that's why I now teach - and even now I sometimes long for the "good ol' days" of sales with kids these days ..........

So. I don't have anything as intellectual as Bernard Pivot or James Lipton or anyone else for that matter, but I do have some very inquiring inquiries.

Bear with me people, it's Friday and most of you have more exciting lives than I do. So humor me. laugh.gif

What's your favorite drink? Why?

Who was your first "love"?

Who was your first "lust"?

What book/story(-s, -ies) would you read over and over again?

What movie(-s) would you see over and over again?

If you have a partner in life, who would you leave them for in a heartbeat?

Who would they leave you for?

What moment or memory in life can't you shake?

The birth of my children were joyous as well, but having lost one of them always tempers the memory with how fast the ones you love can slip away. It shadows the good ones.

I'm lactose intolerant as well. It's almost like an allergy. Just like any allergy, it's something that he probably developed or already had, but just didn't come out sooner or was pronounced. When I was pregnant with my boy, it went away for a while and came back after I had my daughter 3 years later. I grew up drinking soy milk (hence the soy lattes), but will suffer for ice cream biggrin.gif

So strange you'd mention your boy's growth spurt! My boy (7.5) has grown wildly (3+ inches) since his birthday in Dec.! That's 6 months people! He's complained offhandedly about his knees and back aching and I've dismissed it as early growing pains. But, what if his "insides" aren't physically maturing as fast as his "outsides".

Typically, he gets a dose of children's Ibuprofen and off to bed he goes.

But, I'll be d*mned. I wonder if he's not growing too fast for his insides to catch up.

Thank you for the food for thought. smile.gif

Heeeeeyyy ..... biggrin.gif I LOVE chads - hanging or otherwise!!!!

I voted by absentee ballot in one of the contested counties that year! (Hubby was in the military)

Absentee ballots aren't usually counted unless the number of ballots are equal to or more than the number that can sway the results. It costs too much if candidate B needs 5,000 votes to beat candidate A and there are only 1500 absentee ballots. They could ALL be for the same person and not change the results. If it is much closer, then they get counted.

My absentee ballot get counted 3 times that year because of the county I voted in. I think I voted for Charlie the Tuna (kidding), but it got counted. It was probably the first time in the 16 years I had been able to vote that my ballot actually got counted for the person I voted for!

Off topic, no duh right?, but: you mentioned you've been on soy milk for a while. How do you feel and do you have regualr blood tests/ feel good?

I ask, because soy messes with my thyroid something terrible. Can't do soy producgts. Imagine my dismay when I was told to lay off the salted edamame. *cries*

For now (and what I've given the Goofy Boy) I've enjoyed Rice Dream rice milk or Pacific hazelnut milk. In cooler temps, I make a mean hazelnut-mocha coffee concoction that satisfies both my sweet and caffeine tooth. Everyday cereal/granola, etc. gets rice milk and none of us taste the difference.

I'm just wondering if you've played around with any other products of milk alternatives and your take on them.

Thank you for the food for thought. smile.gif

Pita, ask about thyroid testing. It sounds to me like he maybe having some thyroid problems. Do you have it in your family? Thyroid disorder is usually characterized by huge growth spurts and joint pains. Also research celiac disease which is also caused by thyroid disorder and see if your son's symptoms sounds familiar. Celiac disease and thyroid problems are usually disorders that are easily missed since the symptoms are not so apparent.

What's your favorite drink? Why? Coffee

Who was your first "love"? My 1st boyfriend

Who was your first "lust"? My most recent boyfriend... well ex-boyfriend. Never really lusted after anyone except him. He had that something.

What book/story(-s, -ies) would you read over and over again? Honestly can't remember.

What movie(-s) would you see over and over again? The Princess Bride. I've seen it hundreds of times and it never gets old.

If you have a partner in life, who would you leave them for in a heartbeat? Don't have one at the moment, but I wouldn't lol.

Who would they leave you for? He probably would have left me for Jessica Alba if she were available.

What moment or memory in life can't you shake? The day I found out I have leukemia.

Oh, I see that your boy is 14. 14 and 7.5 is a big leap. I know that I've read that puberty is hitting our children earlier, but I have a very hard time believing THAT early!

Please, oh please, oh please, not this early! *cries*

He had a big growth spurt at that age as well! I think he grew 5 inches in first grade and then leveled off and creeped up for awhile. He was achey all the time as well, but I don't know if it's the same thing for your son.

My "baby" is already 6 ft. (probably a tad more). BUT, his dad is 6'4, the shortest guy in MY family is 6'1 (goes to 6'7) and I'm near the shortest gal at 5'10. His Army ped. was worried that he may have growth hormone problems as in too many when he started school. I don't think so, just has a good dose of tall genes. He also eats me out of house and home and still remains skinny as a board - it's NOT FAIR!!

The coaches are upset that he is NOT into basketball and ALL into track.
