John...you have really got me laughing tongue.gif
Sheeeesh what a tough audience you are
OK Duffy is the only new artist for right now who has me VERY excited.Well the only
one I can think of at the moment.
Soooooo whatchyou think??
( geeeeez he's hard to impress wink.gif )

No... my car is a Nissan Maxima and doesn't have running lights either or that feature much to ALL of our's chagrin as we have ALL left the lights on at one time or another Just NOT all night like me.

Polish sawsage?????
Oh you mean that discussion is over????
Damnit!!!
Polish sawsage is my life tongue.gif

Although you think I cope,
my head is filled with hope...
of some place other than here.

Although you think I smile,
inside all the while...
I'm wondering about my destiny.

I'm thinking about,
all the things,
I'd like to do in my life.

I'm a dreamer,
a distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope, from today.

Even when you see me frown,
my heart won't let me down,
because I know there's better things to come (Woah Yeah).

And when life gets tough,
I feel I've had enough,
I hold on to a distant star,

I'm thinking about,
all the things,
I'd like to do in my life...

I'm a dreamer,
A distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope from today.

I'm a dreamer,
A distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope from today.

Yeah, I'm a dreamer

Oooooooh...
Oooooooh...
Oooooooh...

I'm a dreamer,
a distant dreamer,
dreaming for hope from today,

Yeah i'm a dreamer...

Oooooooh...
Oooooooh...
Oooooooh...

I'm a dreamer.
Dreams and other sparkly things

Not having running lights can sometimes be a good thing. Running lights are not really necessary on a bright sunny day. Having your lights on constantly can shorten bulb life and having a mechanic change the bulb can be expensive if you can't change the bulb yourself.

Polish sausage is a big part of WAJ's life too, that and claiming TC is rigged.

Oh if I have time I'm going for sure.
THAT movie is the kind of movie I WANT to
pay to see...Did you see Notes On A Scandal??
OHMG....You really should...There is a long scene in that movie which you will never forget. The whole thing was glorious.

Momma Mia is coming out
too...Woohoooo
What a broad spectrum there.
The only movie that EVER really bothered me enough that I wished I had never seen it other than Last House On The Left..was Saving Private Ryan....That scene on the beach was so disturbing to me....I couldn't take the assault of it all on my senses for that long...I still can't even stand to think about it all.......Sigh!!

KK, the movie is not showing in theaters. It's currently in your local cable/ satellite provider in the On Demand/ pay-per-view section. Notes On A Scandal is on my to see list for sure. Saving Private Ryan was an emotional experience for my grandpa when my brother took him to see it. He was unable to finish the movie because it was too real for him. He was in WWII in the Philippines and was actually in the Bataan Death March and survived it. He received a purple heart from the US govt when he immigrated here in the US.

And before I retire to my boudoir John.. this one is for you....After the string hanging out of your ear comment biggrin.gif I think this is apropos and very cute......Siz just sent it.

GOTTA LOVE LITTLE BOYS

Two young boys walked into a pharmacy one day, picked out a box of tampons and proceeded to the checkout counter. The man at the counter asked the older boy, 'Son, how old are you?' Eight,' the boy replied. The man continued, 'Do you know what these are used for?' The boy replied, 'Not exactly, but they aren't for me. They're for him. He's my brother. He's four. We saw on TV that if you use these you would be able to swim and ride a bike. Right now, he can't do either one.'

Once I thought I killed some squirrels as
I had a rat around and IN my house.

I would watch it dance on my bike handle bars from the window and effortlessly evade the traps I put out..We are on a lake and when it rains or especially during the hurricanes...they want in..Well I put rat posion outside too and I saw a squirrel eating it and I was soooooo upset....NO I was really upset.

One of my friends said........
*Squirrels are just rats with bushy tails*
sooo I felt a bit better..But in the Bronx they are wildlife and we fed them. tongue.gif

I get lizards on my car all the time and
I have to pull over and take them off half way down the road.

We have some very beautiful wildlife back here as I live on a nature preserve...The Sand Hill cranes are gawjus and rare. The frogs jump on me all the time...2 this week and the racoons are fearless.....Aggggghhhh
I hate this GOD forsaken state....Soon I'm
outta' here.

About 4 winters ago our garage was infested with mice and their larger cousins. It seems that the wife was storing extra cat food(dry) in the garage and the rodents were surviving very nicely on the cat food - ironic! We have a bunch of chicken-cats. When we put our cats in the garage and told them to "go sic em", our cats turned tail and ran back into the house. It took over a month for me to get rid of the mice/rats using traditional and sticky rodent traps. The next summer I plugged up all access holes to our garage with concrete.

"Squirrels are just rats with bushy tails" ---that's what an opinionated stranger yelled at the wife and me when we were feeding the squirrels down in Washington DC. My daughter was among those who had won an art award and it was on display in a tunnel leading to the capital bldg. Newt Gingrich spoke to the awardees. So now we have our own squirrel zoo in our backyard. I had to solder extra bars on our bird feeder to keep the squirrels out.

John you are a little devil you are. tongue.gif
My young widow friends had a GTG in Chicago this weekend and they called me and passed me around(on the phone of COURSE) as they wanted me to go and of course I couldn't.
I had 8 punk rockers at my house last night. GAWD did we have fun. They are REALLY
great kids.....VERY smart all of them.As they all stumbled in really groggy I was like.. Who are you????...More of you???They added 2 strays to the mix. I didn't know black came in so many shades. I told them ALL you punk rockers look alike. My nephew AJ is pierced everywhere.
And all of them are 'cept my nephew
Cubby(Christopher)
MUCH to my brother's chagrin. NO to his heart attack coming. I have a video to post soon.
Yeah I bet everyone is waiting for that. cool.gif
Actually I coined a new phrase for them as
they said they were metal/ punkish.
So I said they should call it * petal.*
I hope it takes off tongue.gif

I made sure to get my Polish sawsage jokes in good to the Chicagoites and guess what??
The actually ate some...Those widder ladies are crazy for the Polish sawsages biggrin.gif

There are no musicians in my family - no one can play an instrument or sing either. One really can't tell if they have a singing voice until they actually hear themselves. I found out when I was in high school and a neighbor lent me his tape recorder that I could not sing on key. My daughter grew up when Madonna was the 'Material Girl'. She paid money to record her voice to the proper accompanyment in the local shopping mall. She made a valiant effort but it just wasn't there - family genes. Somehow her brother got hold of the recording and played it over the high school PA system - sibling rivalry at work.

OHMG we caught one in the sticky trap and mum and I were screaming.
I had to call this wildlife rescuer guy to come and get it in the middle of the night... He only charged 20 dollars. He was used to alligators..lol..It was horrible.
I didn't want to see it suffer... Even a rat.
So from them on I did peanut butter and the regular old traps and they worked 'cept for that one smart one.
BUT I finally got him....BUT by the time I got to him the possum that visits every night had eaten it.lol
Oyyy Wild kingdom down here..I had to put mesh on my dryer vent thing and that stopped them. RATS stay outside..puuuuuulese.

The artwork was my daughter's. This was a nationwide high school competition. I'm afraid it wasn't very interesting - just a bowl of fruit. There were pictures on display in the tunnel done by other high schoolers that were more interesting, at least to my eyes. Not to take anything away from my daughter but she sketched her bowl of fruit while stretched out on the livingroom floor watching tv. I have no idea whatever happened to that picture. It was done 15 years ago and she no longer lives with us.

Alligator rescuer guy? You mean the guy who got killed by a manta ray? Just kidding.

So you are saying that rodents are not welcome but marsupials are.

Can't wait to see Mama Mia. I wanted to see the play, but at 100.00 a pop, I couldn't really see the expense, especially since it was in Cincinnati and didn't have any "stars" in it.

I saw Crouching Tiger and loved that movie, but was quite disturbed at the ending. Me likes "happy endings"

I can't watch movies about the Viet Nam War, the Holocost or anything having to do with 9/11. I've tried but just get too emotional. I did see Apocolypse Now many years ago, but couldn't sleep for days afterwards.

I only cook minute rice laugh.gif

A few years ago, I was washing clothes and noticed water gushing out all over everything. Yep, a mouse had chewed through the wiring in the switches so it didn't know to switch off. What a mess!

And, my 94 GMC Safari doesn't have a dinger and I have left my lights on so many times it's rediculous. However it has a battery buddy on it, so it always starts.

And me I'm a Dodge girl. We have two.

I think I've addressed everything except oh yea! Nothin better than 60's & 70's music. Country Joe...Gimme an "F" tongue.gif

I have a '99 Ford Contour...80,000 miles. I've had to do brakes once, battery, tires, oil....kinda the usual. The freakin worst was the rabbit that got into the engine/undercarriage and ate up $1300 worth of wire harnesses and vacuum tubes. It gets 29 MPG, it's paid for and cheap to insure. I married into a Ford family and this is the only one that wasn't Fix Or Repair Daily.

Speaking as a "ex" Ford mechanic I have to let you know that the Contour was one of Fords worst ideas ever....it was a "transition "vehicle"... something to sell since we don't have the planned line ready. Contours had a ton of recalls for dumb stuff and if it has been reliable for you , you have been lucky. Also, if you have a trans go out get ready for a $3000.00 bill (which is more than the car is worth). My reccomendation...drive it till it quits then haul it to the wrecking yard.....do not invest any "real" money in it. Please note ,I do like Ford products... all cars in my family are Fords... I drive a 93 Aerostar with 210,000 miles on it.

The wife recently took her 2000 Mazda Protege in for service. It seems there was a squirrel nest in the engine compartment. No damage unlike when she was stranded just outside NY City and had to take the train home. It seems that mice or some other animal had eaten insulation on some of the wiring in her 1980 Honda Civic stationwagon.

Rodent damage is actually a common occurance...what is really nasty is when a critter crawls into the heater/ a/c system and dies.... getting the smell out can be costly ...as much as a $1000.00 on some cars.

Next month our little hometown fair is having a cooking contest. You are allowed to bring three "condiments" (assuming salt & pepper are gimmies). You bring your condiments and an eletric skillet. They supply you with five mystery ingredients and we're off. I thought about mayo (just in case). Any suggestions on the other two. Not having a clue about the ingredients is a little off putting. It feels like a QF challenge.

My reccomendation...drive it till it quits then haul it to the wrecking yard.....do not invest any "real" money in it. Please note ,I do like Ford products... all cars in my family are Fords... I drive a 93 Aerostar with 210,000 miles on it.

We drive 4 cars between the two of us, depending on what we're doing. 94 GMC Safari 232,000, 2002 Hyundai 207,000, 2003 Dodge 2500 diesel 48,000 and 2007 Dodge Caliber 12,000. We drive em till they drop or are too expensive to fix. All of these were bought new, synthetic oil and premium filter every 3000. The best mechanical one has been the Hyundai. We've done nothing except oil changes, tires, brakes, headlights and batteries on this. By the way, we get 20+mpg on our truck.

I had to solder extra bars on our bird feeder to keep the squirrels out.

laugh.gif LOL...about your fraidy cats!!! They sound like my dog. She is a min pin and she weighs about 6 or 7 pounds. She thinks she is tough, and is always chasing cow birds outside. If she ever catches one she won't know what to do.

Made mojito marinated chicken kabobs wrapped in bacon yesterday. They were a hit.

I would say mustard... ketchup of course and the mojo maybe??How did you like it??
Isn't it delicious???I put it in my black beans the other day...it's so good on just about everything.......Look up ropo vejo?(sp) Flank steak and marinate it in that.

Who would have thought that you were just a senior hippie..... Country Joe???? Actually, all of the groups from that era were and are great. Just a note on Tony Snow.... I saw on the news that one of his hobbies was music.... he self taught himself to play flute listening to Jethro Tull and actually got to be friends with Ian Anderson to the point that Ian let him play with Tull in a few gigs.

I rhink I've finally come to the realization
that I'm NOT a big Tull fan.I saw them at Shea Stadium in cool box press seats as one of my friend's progressive parents took us when we were like really young to see them and we felt like royalty.
We had room service. tongue.gif

And of course the Boy himself....George

Oh dear Gawd how could I???

Yes let's

Let's hear it for the boy

I saw Otis Redding the year before he died. He was playing in some theater in the Bedford-Stuyvestant area of NY City. I had to walk over broken glass to get to the theater. I tried to see James Brown that same year at the Apollo Theater but the triple line to the ticket window stretched around the block so I gave up. A few years ago when I was still working the wife asked me to change the CD I had in my CD/FM clock radio. The opening song on the CD was "In The Midnight Hour" by Wilson Pickett - funny song to get up from.

Theater in the round - I mentioned in an earlier post that my daughter was one of the children in "The King and I" put on by a touring troupe. That was in a theater in the round. Over the years we attended many shows in that theater - Dionne Warwick, Joan Baez, Tony Bennett and many more that I can't remember.

My son is now working in NH after moving from Framingham Ma, Tiffani Faison's hometown. Working in those two states have ruined him - he's now an ultra-liberal - repeats everything the far left media prints and has photoshopped all of the pictures of me taken on our USA tour where I have on my Yankee baseball hat with a red "B".

Gladys Knight and her Pips - should have been renamed Gladys knight and her Raisins. I still play her "Midnight Train To Georgia". What are Pips you ask - there are many definitions - one of them is a small fruit seed which fits in with raisins.

Take Me Home - Country Roads. I grew up on a country road - it was rough trying to learn to ride a bicycle on a dirt road with pot holes all over.

Carole King - wrote my favorite Aretha Franklin song -"(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman"

During the 60's I spent a lot of weekends in a nightclub situated in the middle of a black ghetto area. There was a local band that played soul music and customers like myself would crowd up in front of the stage area and dance ( I was pretty lousy compared to the other couples). When I first took a date there she wouldn't take her coat off - all those ominous black dudes. But then she went with me to that nightclub on a very regular basis - the band and the lead singer was that good. Beer was a buck a bottle. I used to stay till the place closed which was around 2 am. I used to drive home with the moonroof in my '66 Beetle open - in the winter the incoming air would sober me right up.

Tony Bennett - Besides the theater in the round we also saw him twice in a large indoor theater setting while paying good money. The best deal we got was when we attended a festival in the Catskill Mts and got to see and hear him for free. My wife is his biggest fan.

Someday I am going to have to tell you about my cousin(s): 1st degrees of separation. My daughter got to rub elbows with famous people at a very young age. My hobby is bowling - I took my kids to a demo by [expletive deleted] Weber and his son Pete. [expletive deleted] did trick shots before bowling his son in a head-to-head match. One of the trick shots [expletive deleted] did was to shoot the 7-10 split using two bowling balls at the same time. During the match against son Pete he got a real 7-10 split. my daughter, who must have been 5 or 6 years old at the time, went up to [expletive deleted] and suggested that he use two balls to make the split. About the same time we attended a talent show hosted by Ben Vereen and had front row seats. I don't remember the circumstances but Ben called my daughter up on stage with him.

I used to visit the Village (Greenwich) occasionally back in the 1960's. I really wasn't into the hippie movement and have always been pretty conventional. My brother was into it and attended and graduated from one of the most liberal colleges of that era - Antioch College, Yellow Springs Ohio.

Harlem: I haven't been there in years. I used to date a girl that lived on 125th street. Bill Clinton has his office in Harlem.

The 1966 Beetle was the first car I ever owned. I bought it the year my father retired. Up to that point he would drop me off at college on the way to his workplace.

It was a great little car but had its drawbacks such as being underpowered on hills (only 50 hp). Dangerous to drive in a crosswind or when a tractor trailer went by.

I am very familiar with Beetles. My uncle (the political one) gave me my first ride in a Beetle (1953) which was his first car - 30 hp. Then my best friend (and best man at my wedding) had a different Beetle every month during the 1960's. His father was a partner in a New Rochelle VW dealership. The most memorable trip in one of his Beetles was when we went up to Maine to spend a week on Monhegan Island, an artist and birdwatcher magnet. I had just had surgery on my left ear(artificial stapli installed) and was draining. We also had a neighbor girl with us whose sister was working on the island. Before taking the mailboat out to the island we spent the night in the woods trying to catch some sleep. My friend took the driver's seat with his legs hanging out the door (he's 6'4"), the neighbor girl got the back seat, while I got the luggage area behind the back seat. Many adventure on that island.

The last Beetle I bought was a 1999 turbocharged New Beetle - great engine. I traded it in at 60,000 miles because it was too expensive to service. It had to be taken apart to change parts I would ordinarily do myself like changing a light bulb or battery - $75 to change a $5 light bulb or $225 to install a new battery. I used to change my own oil but gave up on the Beetle as you needed a special wrench to operate in the Beetle's extremely tight quarters.

The car I drive now, a 2005 Mazda 3 hatchback is nothing to get excited about as it is very boring to drive but reliability is top notch.

I thought that the new battery was installed in your Maxima.

Made mojito marinated chicken kabobs wrapped in bacon yesterday. They were a hit.

Chuc,
How did your crab rangoon/ eggroll debacle go?

For the cook-off ingredients I will suggest: apple cider vinegar, mustard, and honey

Dangnabit chafing dishes. Thankfully everything went really fast so they didn't have time to get too uncrunchy.
I was thinking about cider vinegar too. Maybe some green chilies or the mojo KK suggested. Still thinking about the mayo. I wish I could have a clue to what the secret ingredients are but I guess that would defeat the purpose. Darn it anyway.

smile.gif I am so happy for you, KK. When you get to NY, I sure hope you will not be so busy that you quit posting. I would never want to live in the city limits of even a small town. I love the country and value my privacy....but, I do like hearing about bright lights and big cities. smile.gif

I think I'm gonna' be really busy. And for that I'm grateful. It depends on whether my brother moves in with his finance ' or not..Oy that story but it seems on again.lol Those two.
IF he stays I 'll help with the kids too.
BUT I don't care either way...I'll be outta' here and where I want to be.

There is so much to do there and I won't be in the city at all TT..I'll be where we used to consider the boon docks growing up.lol It's about 40 minutes to the GW Bridge and 10 minutes to Bear Mt. my favorite place around there...Here's some pix. the town..I love it there..Paige my friend since I was 18 who plays trivia used to live there for awhile..It's old and historic with battle grounds and RIGHT on the Hudson. You can see the Hudson from my brother's front window...So you get it all ...City and country. Perfectumundo. I'll be here TT for TC for sure.NOT even NY can keep me from
