I think the 6 Flags in St Louis calls the pin against the wall ride Tom's Twister. And, I've seen someone throw up ON the ride. Ewwww. Won't go into detail. Measured the boys this morning and they are 2 inches to short for the biggest rides. Guess I'll have to miss out on Batman. The first time I saw that ride I watched it go around several times before I had the guts to get on. Then, you couldn't get me off the ride. Blast.
Yes, I love fair food too. All the different ethnic foods are my fav but I love the fried dough too.

Haven't been to Orlando since I was a teen. Probably in a couple years. Hub has a cousin who lives outside town and has invited us to stay. A (one?) valium? Remember I have 3 boys. Only one of them is 6 ft. lol
Instead of So. Carolina next year (where we got married) thinking about having party at home as hub will turn the big 4-0. Haven't quite decided yet.

I was on Tom's Twister back in 1973 in the pouring rain. It was cold and my jeans were soaked up to the knees. My boyfriend & his family wanted to go on that ride (I was NOT crazy about the idea), but went to make nice. As the floor started sinking, so did I. I was sliding down the wall until my arms were above my head holding hands with my boyfriend & his brother. They had to stop the ride early and they were yelling instructions to me on how to "creep" up the wall until even with every one else. Very scary!

$1,083

I can't believe it.
WOW I 'm happy as that car needed to get fixed for awhile. It was an air something and fuel cleaner thing and a belt of some kind and spark plugs.
AND he just told me it takes 80 $ to fill my car.
I was like WHAT???.....I had no idea....NO I am shocked ...I never let it get lower than half full since the hurricanes.
So my car will take like 5 tanks we think.

We went to the Flashback Diner to eat and the place is really great but they have the rough and tumble type waitresses...It is hysterical to watch those b*tches fight for tables and they all hate each other..And dirt CHEAP!!
Two full meals including soup and drink AND dessert 12 bucks...The conch chowder was to LIVE for and the turkey and stuffing was real home made...And the waitress who looks like a biker chick tats and all and 'tude from hell was so good ...Extra napkins and
water AND lemons on the side
of course... without me even asking... AND when I asked her for the bill she looked like she wanted to kill me.lol

Dot ...me and mum's favorite waitress who is now the cashier is 85 years old and has been there for 25 years.AND every time the door opens she yells. DOOR!!! lol I love places ike that.
5 Easy Pieces ain't got nuthin on them.

AND I heard this song three times today.
Once in Sears which is another story. tongue.gif
So I guess it's must be an omen and you get to bask in it's power ballad glory... Oh the ballad rock daze. Don't we miss them????!!
You know I do...'cause I loooooove everything and everybody tongue.gif
Rock on Mister Perry..You have a power ballad voice fer' sho'!!
And the hair to go with it dude.

Just a small town girl,

(Thaz me)
You know I'm singing loud and proud if you want to call it that wacko.gif
I did take that train a time or two.

She took the midnight train goin anywhere
Just a city boy, born and raised in south detroit
He took the midnight train goin anywhere

A singer in a smokey room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting, up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people, living just to find emotion
Hiding, somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill,
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin anything to roll the dice,
Just one more time
Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

(chorus)

Dont stop believin
Hold on to the feelin
Streetlight people

$12 for your maps and another $17 left over credit. You're rolling in it. lol
5 tanks?!?! Better eat light while on the road. I prefer the little mom & pop joints anyway. Usually they're all the bang for the buck you need.
Will never get to see NYC with hub. He hates the city. Will never take me there, ever ever ever. Those upstaters are such snobs. rolleyes.gif
Saturday gonna hit this joint in downstate Illinois with excellent cheap burgers and $0.25 shrimp. Always has a line. I think Guy Fiero or one of those FN dudes did a story on it once.

Have a great day blokes and bellas.
Hmm..Blokes and bellas..I like the ring of it.

little lizard you stare at me
you are small and green and oh so lean
popping your head above the chair
basking in the golden sun.. skin of velvet
wrinkles.. i think you are gentleman.
i know you are quite dashing

if i was a little girl lizard i would think
you so very handsome
i would want to kiss your little lizard lips and let you father my little lizard babies 'cause you
seem on top of your game ...you caught that
gnat with expert precision and i need
someone on top of our food chain

i see your little lizard heart beating through
your little lizard skin
i'm sure it beats for me 'cause you just stay fixed and gazing...so i will kiss a frog today
in hopes it will turn into a lizard
(does it work that way?)
and if not at least i'll get a prince and i will hunt you down a lovely little lizard girl 'cause the way things stand now i fear this relationship will
not work out

i don't want to break your little lizard spirit
(i whisper so as not to break your little lizard heart)

i don't think you can reach the gas pedal

Then I won't.

I wish I could have experienced the legendary Coney Island! I spent practically every pre and post adolescent Ohio summer between the rides (God, how I loved Geauga Lake's Texas Twister, Big Dipper and Raging Wolf Bobs, and Cedar Point's Gemini and Blue Streak) and coasters at Geauga Lake and Cedar Point back in the 80s and 90s, with an occasional trip to Cincinnati's Kings Island--their coaster, The Beast, is still one of my favorite coasters of all time.

Sadly, they closed Geauga Lake in 2007--thank goodness I have pix of all those fun times. Those were the days, indeed ...

Lea, Kings Island is just down the road from me. I've ridden The Beast many times and the "Twins front and backwards. However the best rollar coaster I've ever ridden is at Worlds of Fun in Kansas City.

I used to be big on Superman, but over the years they've weakened him so much! In my day, Kryptonite (red, green, and blue), Virus X, and Magic were the only things he was susceptible to! Now he needs oxygen in space, can be blown up and more than stunned by atomic or nuclear blasts, and simple electricity can stop him! Too often they try and marry him off, but how are they supposed to,,, errr, get him off if he doesn't lose his powers? lol!! Kids should be out of the question! lol!! I'm more a Batman person now and not just because of the latest movies! He does all he does with no real powers, outsmarts everyone, and has saved the earth on more than one occasion with the help of Robin, Night Wing, Batgirl, The Martian, Superman, Hawkman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman! Hard to believe I'm over 50 huh? lol!!

I kind of lost track of Superman when the Stan Lee Marvel heroes came out in the 1960's. My interest was revived when Superman was brought to the big screen with Chris Reeve. Superman is immortal. Currently Brandon Routh has taken over the red cape and the S emblem.

Batman was among the first comics that I read when I first discovered comics. The Justice League was also high on my must read list. However, before Batman it was Captain Marvel and Shazam.

Hard to believe I'm over 50 huh? lol!!

Hiya Jay and you put
a lot of thought into that. tongue.gif

As a personage of the girl
persuasionage..hmm
I liked Clark better methinks..Yet..Being saved once in awhile ain't a bad thing.
I just LOVE...no I LOVE this song so please forgive and good night John Boy..I'm zzzzzzhausted.

No it never is!

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just down to find
The better part of me.

I'm more than a bird
I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some a pretty face, beside a train.
And it's not easy to be me.

I wish that I could cry
Fall up on my knees
Find a way to lie
'bout a home I'll never see

It may sound absurd
But don't be naive
Even heros have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed
But won't you conceed
Even heros have the right to dream
And it's not easy to be me.

Up up an' away away from me
Well it's alright.
You can all sleep sound tonight.
I'm not crazy, or anything.

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive.
Men want men to ride
With clouds between their knees.

I'm only a man on a silly red sheet
Diggin' for kryptonite on this one way street.
I'm only a man on a funny red sheet.
Lookin for special things inside of me.
Inside of me
Inside of me
Inside of me
Inside of me.

I'm only a man on a funny red sheet.
I"m only a man lookin' for a dream
I'm only a man on a funny red sheet
Lookin' for special things inside of me

OK John I love to tawk plumbing!!!
I'm sated and fat but happy..I wore ear plugs and ran tongue.gif

That's what happens when we get old. We talk about plumbing.

Where to start? I, my mother, and my two siblings had been living with my grandfather in New Haven, Connecticut while my father was working on a construction job in upstate NY. My father had sold our home in Babylon LI. We had been living with my grandfather for almost 2 years when my father sent for us to move to where he was working - he was the engineer in charge of constructing a road along a city reservoir. We moved into a house owned by the city - rent was $25 a month. The house dated back to colonial days and was on the opposite shore of the reservoir from where the road was being built. The house did have electricity, but water to the house was obtained by a hand pump in the kitchen. There was also a well out in the yard with a hand pump. There were two stoves in the kitchen, a kerosene stove and a wood stove. I forget what the refrigerator looked like if we had one. A large galvanized washtub was used to bathe in. Water was heated on the wood stove and poured into the tub. We shared the bath water while taking turns. The house was heated by a coal furnace in the basement, however it was woefully inadequate. We closed off the second floor to conserve heat. During the winter we all stayed in the living room which was heated by a large oil stove - we used to put our feet up on it. In the wintertime when I woke up I could see my breath. There were no bathroom facilities which was why my teeth all went to hell. My mother should have been more strict in dental hygiene. Many of my baby teeth came out prematurely, pulled by the dentist. Our toilet was an outhouse attached the back of the house - a one holer. My father had a pit in the woods in back of the house where he'd empty the contents of the honeybucket.

I attended 2nd and 3rd grade while living in that house. School consisted of a one-room schoolhouse, grades one through eight. There were no schoolbuses and I got to school by walking one mile along a two-lane highway.

Recreation for me consisted of fishing in the reservoir. During the winter I got to watch the fishermen chop holes in the ice for their tipups. In warm weather the conservation people would take me out in their boat when they were restocking the reservoir with fish.

We moved to a nearby town when the construction job was completed. The house has since been razed and in its place is a parking lot for fishermen.

KK - your turn.

John, hope you don't mind me buttin' in here, I don't think Kristl will. My story...I was raised in the city, but remember when I was a child, we would go down to Kentucky to visit our relatives. They didn't have indoor plumbing. My earliest memories are of having to go to the bathroom at night. Lord knows you don't go to the outhouse at night. So I told my cousin Janie I had to go and she gave me a bucket and said it's O.K. we go crap in the bucket. I was appalled (if you can be that at age 4). Needless to say, I held it to morning! And after that I would throw a tantrum when my mom would say we were going to Kentucky for a visit. I still won't go there. Haven't seen my relatives for years even tho they have indoor plumbing now. And to this day I won't use a bucket for anything. thank God for Swiffer. ohmy.gif edited for KK sake

smile.gif Hi, Shy. When I was very young my Grandfather had an outhouse...my sisters and I hated to use it. But...we would still go out there at night...we would just not go alone. We loved to go to Grandpa's house...just not his outhouse. In later years he did get an indoor bathroom. LOL about the bucket....I would not be able to go in the the bucket no matter how hard I tried. This subject reminds me of that old Dolly Parton song "In The Good Old Days When Times Were Bad".

Kentucky has been a highlight stop for my son and me on a couple of our USA tours. I am referring to Mammoth Cave and two Wild Cave tours. We are planning another visit to the cave but will be taking an easier tour due to my age and the fact that my son is now too fat to qualify for the Wild Cave tour (40 inch maximum girth).

I have been required to use outhouses on and off for much of my life. Six seasons of Boy Scout camp(four holers), Vietnam - one holer out on the beach, Hiking in the Adirondack Mts of NY State - no outhouses - dig a hole in the ground.

Dolly Parton is a rags to riches story. One of twelve children, Dolly was born in a one-room cabin in the Smokey Mts of Tennessee in 1946. Her father was a moonshiner.

Those really are old houses - General Washington would have slept in many of these houses since the army moved around and he was a general unlike the troops who slept in tents.

I was kind of familiar with the location of Pearl River since I have been a bowler (ten pins) since high school and have been familiar with most of the professional bowlers over the years. Joey Berardi, an up and coming pro bowler in the 1970's was from Pearl River.

A few years ago I went back to Babylon to check out the family home - actually two different houses. The first one had been subdivided into three separate building lots. The original house is gone. Back then ice was delivered in blocks for our refrigerator. The delivery guy used to yell at me as I would pick up ice shavings off of the ground and suck on them. I was only three years old. Our other house is still there although the current owner has neglected to trim the shrubbery which nearly blocks access to the front door. If we had stayed there we probably would have owned a motor boat. The house was only 1/4 mile from the Ocean. My father used to take me down to the docks to catch crabs. I checked out my grandfather's old restaurant/laundry in New Haven Connecticut and the school I attended in first and part of second grade. The restaurant is no longer a restaurant - it's some kind of shop and the school is boarded up. The entire area is a ghetto.

WWII was in progress while we lived on Long Island: gasoline rationing and victory gardens. My father got rid of his car and rode a bicycle to work. Shopping was done by my mother who took me with her. In the summer I rode in a wagon and on a Flexible Flyer sled in the winter pulled by my mother.

It's funny about my memory. I can recall things that happened 60 years ago but I can't remember what I was supposed to buy when I get to the store. I should start making out written shopping lists.

Was I happy? Yes, I had a good childhood. I didn't have much material goods but I had wonderful parents.

There's nothing wrong with being a ballet dancer. I'll bet your brothers wouldn't have made fun of Rudolph Nureyev.

So you worked in Lederle Labs - a pharmacutical company? Lederle is now owned by Wyeth. My uncle, my mother's oldest brother, was an exec in Wyeth. He is long since retired being 83. He lives in Gladwynne Pa.

Eddie and the Cruisers - I missed seeing that one although I remember Michael Pare who starred in several action movies in the 80's and 90's. Pare is a CIA (Culinary Institute of America) graduate. He was a chef before he became an actor.

You had on blue jeans.
Your eyes couldn't hide anything.
I saw you breathing
And I saw you staring out in space.
I next saw you, you was at a party.
Thought you was a queen, oh so flirty.
I came against.
Didn't say excuse.
You knew what I was doing,
We looked very fine 'cause we were leaving.
Like Saint Joan, doing a cool, cool jerk
Oh I want you, Oh I want you... like a kangaroo...

Major John Andre is a hero in England like Nathan Hale is a hero to us Americans. Andre's co-conspirator, Benedict Arnold, escaped to England, and has become a synonym for a traitor.

John, I just gotta jump in here and say. Your posts about your childhood and your family are always so heartwarming. Thanks for brighten up my afternoon.

Chuc,

Thanks but I always thought that my childhood was pretty mundane. I neglected to mention that before Babylon we lived in Queens, Jackson Heights to be exact. Because this was the City my mother kept me on a 10 foot leash.

Are you saying that Tommy lied to you? What? Did he tell you that Sister Helen Mary wouldn't mind if he ate lunch at your home instead of at kindergarten?

Whoa Hajar thanks for asking and you asked for it tongue.gif
I'm up 'cause I'm deep in thought about many things..SO many things have happened in the last few months..SO many strange and stressful things
I haven' t even gone into half of them....BUT the association did give us till the 1st ...guess you missed that post...He did tell me on the phone the 25th originally...but I got a letter and didn't open it till the other day...as I get many letters from them the same pretty much as the same law firm is suing us for their faux pas my brother caused or they did but that is another mess and on the 30th unless we pay 3,000 or more we can't tell....which don't know why cause no one will talk to us about it... we get a lien on this place..I read it to Shy as she knows legalese and they can do this......And WILL!!
BUT we can still rent it just not sell it she said
without paying and we ain't paying till they tell
us what the HELL all these charges are for.
I think it's the hurricane money...They want it all up front long story but they will not talk to us and it's not itemized that way.You should
see this thing... We were all paid up till Jan...Then the accounts got frozen..I paid Jan in April..Oh GAWD there is so much more to that........lol....never mind.
They actually said they couldn't talk to us at the law firm.. I called the guy who talked to me about the dog and he said it is some kind of rule and he isn't handling that case.
I don't get it. The association lady hung up on my brother. She is a WITCH!!! For real.
Supposedly a letter has been sent in the last few days explaining the whole thing which I didn't check my mail yet today...sooooo Anywhoo...follow along tongue.gif
We can stay Duke just can't and where he goes we go.I just now looked at the calendar as
I haven't even done that like a stooonad and the 1st in on Friday and I don't want to travel on a Friday for a few reasons ..but one is TRAFFIC.It's real bad on Friday.. So I'm thinking I better leave Tuesday
as we will stop one night.I hate to drive longer
than 8 hours anyway...I think it will take us
18 hours if I remember correctly so I will do 9 I guess. The jobs are still viable and options...My brother has MANY connections....Both do really.
BUT the main reason I don't want to go now is because I will have to stay upstairs with them till he finishes the floor in the addition he put on the house so his daughter who does not want to move upstairs can move in that room.My brother is also an expert carpenter and refinisheses houses too..I'll post the pix of that later..He GOOD!! Self taught and
by my dad really..But he GOOD.. He makes a
fortune doon it there. Every time he comes here we say.....Bill .....you gonna build an addition.lol
Anywhoooo she has the whole downstairs now

which is beautiful and BIG and two bedrooms for me and my son... and she 's a spoiled teen.
So you know she mad..BUT he says she would rather move upstairs than to his fiancés'..She don't want to move...at all.
I DO not want to live with peeps again.. Even my brother who I love very much..
The downstairs has a separate entrance so
will be OK as soon as I can go down there which he said should be in a few days after I get there..I HOPE!!!
Oy and grrrrrrr and aren't you glad you asked!
I'm gonna' make cawwffee and I will share.
Now my son is sick and I need him for heavy
stuff and attic stuff...and heavy cleaning and
such so I am behind schedule and hope he gets
better quick....So I'm gonna' scream
right now.... ok!!!

Ohhh you should NOT have asked biggrin.gif

Yes he did that bratty tow head..His mother worked in the rectory and he went to both sessions of kindergarten... I went to morning We walked home and my older brother would walk me home for lunch and he would go back...Sooo I wanted to go and my mum let me walk back....I can't even believe that as
I type that as things were so innocent really 29 years ago again tongue.gif
Ooooops got ahead sorry.lol

Soooo I asked Tommy to come home for lunch...and he said his mom said it was ok.
I asked him twice and so did my brother.
Soooo we get home and we have bologna.
YES we ate that and mmmm on Wonder bread with mayo...AND he wants butter on his sandwich and I thought how weird???
I was gonna' end it right there. biggrin.gif

So anywhoooo we walk him back to school
and outside the school there are cops and all these nuns and priests....Sister Helen Mary who is a WITCH....the head nun....or you know
Mother Superior.. oops is LIVID and she starts yelling at ME wacko.gif

I tell her he said it was ok...She will NOT believe me and her face is right in mine.He says
that he did tell me that...and she is still blaming me..talk about chidhood trauma and it went on for while..Because I kissed him once and had to write a hundred times I will not kiss boys

I had a bad rep
I did it in first grade too.I was a grade school minx. tongue.gif
Sheeesh.... It's just a kiss.On the cheek no less.
No wonder repressed peeps go NUTS!!!
