Yes he did that bratty tow head..His mother worked in the rectory and he went to both sessions of kindergarten... I went to morning We walked home and my older brother would walk me home for lunch and he would go back...Sooo I wanted to go and my mum let me walk back....I can't even believe that as
I type that as things were so innocent really 29 years ago again tongue.gif
Ooooops got ahead sorry.lol

Soooo I asked Tommy to come home for lunch...and he said his mom said it was ok.
I asked him twice and so did my brother.
Soooo we get home and we have bologna.
YES we ate that and mmmm on Wonder bread with mayo...AND he wants butter on his sandwich and I thought how weird???
I was gonna' end it right there. biggrin.gif

So anywhoooo we walk him back to school
and outside the school there are cops and all these nuns and priests....Sister Helen Mary who is a WITCH....the head nun....or you know
Mother Superior.. oops is LIVID and she starts yelling at ME wacko.gif

I tell her he said it was ok...She will NOT believe me and her face is right in mine.He says
that he did tell me that...and she is still blaming me..talk about chidhood trauma and it went on for while..Because I kissed him once and had to write a hundred times I will not kiss boys

I had a bad rep
I did it in first grade too.I was a grade school minx. tongue.gif
Sheeesh.... It's just a kiss.On the cheek no less.
No wonder repressed peeps go NUTS!!!
Thank GAWD I got out of there at 10.
NO no Faith Hill OR KISS...I actually like the Faith.... but never got into KISS.

The End smile.gif

Oh yeah Tommy's mother was crying like crazy..lol Oy

Sister Helen Mary was a witch as you put it. A person like her had no business being the head nun. If Jesus was like her we'd all be in Hell.

Don't you have it backwards? I mean with the kissing and the faith?

I'll bet Tommy got a whipping from his mother when she got him home.

Aww take me back to the start

I was just guessin', At numbers and figures, Pullin' the puzzles apart

Questions of science, Science and progress, Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me, Come back to haunt me, Oh when I rush to the start

Runnin' in circles, [sounds like] Chasin' our tails, Comin' back as we are

No, I never attended a Catholic School as my parents were protestant. I did hear stories from classmates while I was in middle school about the nuns and how they meted out corporal punishment to kids who broke the rules.

As for the brothers, in our town we have a all boys school run by the brothers. The wife and I met some of the brothers when our two kids participated in an annual math contest put on by the brothers for 6th, 7th and 8th graders belonging to schools from three adjoining counties. My daughter was the winner that year for the eighth grade girls.

As I said I am not a Catholic and attended public schools. Back in the 50's teachers were allowed to lay their hands on kids who misbehaved. When I was eleven I began being bussed in to an inner city school. The kids from the City were a lot rougher than the school I had been previously attending. There was this one kid who really got under the skin of teachers. I recall my science teacher in 8th grade grabbed this kid by the throat and picked him up and pinned him against the wall. Another incident with the same kid in the locker room where my phys ed teacher picked this kid up and threw him into the lockers. Of course today teachers aren't allowed to touch kids and kids are shooting kids and making babies.

Tater,

If you get the chance, watch "White Chicks" if it is ever televised in your area. The movie concerns two black FBI agents played by the Wayan brothers who disquise themselves as fashion models who are white. Project Runway could use the Wayan brothers. I watched "White Chicks" tonight for the third time.

Steak with ketchup - me too! A couple of years ago my daughter cooked me a steak dinner and got all bent out of shape when I put ketchup on it. I asked her why is it ok for people to put A-1 steak sauce on their steak? It just so happens that I hate steak sauce and prefer ketchup. If steak sauce is so great then McDonald's would offer it for their beef burgers.

Right now Obama seems to be the frontrunner so maybe you won't have to move to Afghanistan and wear a burka. But if burkas are your thing, you might write Rachael Ray and ask if you can have hers. If she gives it to you then you can sign all your posts with 'Yummo'.

I'm sorry to hear about your son being sick. At least when he is well he helps his mom.

Good luck with your battery. Who's telling the truth? Wal-mart or Firestone?

My son has gotten fat (he's a member of Yelp) and refuses to do physical labor anymore. Only yesterday I asked him if he would mow the lawn when he comes home from NH for a visit(and do his laundry - quilts). My legs(knees) are really bad and it takes me two days to mow the lawn. He told me to go hire the neighbor boy. I reminded him that for years I mowed my mother's lawn(I still mow around her flower beds and shrubbery - a one hour job when I was healthy) for no pay and I am there for her whenever she needs me which is often now that she is 86 and nearly blind.

Yes, I think you will find your old stomping grounds much cooler than South Florida and if you are still too hot there is always Canada. Sorry, I mean Afghanistan - it must be cool there being up in the mountains.

Wal-mart might be lying to you to get out of replacing what they sold you - a bad battery.

So now you are the owner of two new batteries?

We just got back from my son's birthday dinner at the Melting Pot which is trying to revive the 70's craze - Fondue. It took us almost 3 hours to finish our meal. The Melting Pot, the one here, used to be Hooter's which went out of business.

As I said in my post, my son is just home for a visit (and to do some laundry). He lives and works in New Hampshire.

Sunape(sp) is probably one of the most beautiful lakes I've ever seen.

They had a restaurant with a big tree growing right in the middle of it and it was gawjus and you can't stand whilst drinking at a bar
in NH. wacko.gif We all kept breaking the law on purpose.lol Stand or sit ..Can't rememebr but stand would make more sense.

BUT I still think NY is prettier in general. We fight about that all the time too.lol..My older brother is in LOVE with NH and really wants
to live there for YEARS but the family won't go.
Once my brother rented a house for a month there and took my mother.. Well she would call us whispering *Get me out of here*.lol
It wasn't hermetically sealed and perfect.
My brother sleeps in tents in Africa....Mum likes the Raddison..THAT caused a family feud for years!!!
We believed her how bad it was as we know what he considers nice... and he swears it was nice....And it probably was..BUT not nice enough for mum.
Poor guy was trying so hard..But she sounded like she was being kept in a torture camp..AND of course the hottest heat wave ever to strike happened that week.So my poor brother had to drive her around for hours every day as no a/c there. . Oh what a nightmare that was.
WHAT a family vacation.

My son lives in Londonderry and works in nearby Manchester.

I agree with you on the Melting Pot - ok if you are on a date. Now my son wants his mom to drag out the fondue when Christmas rolls around. Haven't had fondue at home since the 1970's when the wife had a circle of friends - they have since moved away.

Not everyone is ok with no AC in hot weather and simple accommodations. Once you have AC you can't live without it.

I have a bias for NY too as I have lived here for most of my life. NY has the ocean in the south and the mts in the north and lakes, lots of lakes.

Getting back to your move to Pearl River you're going to be in great shape. Close to NY City yet out where there is green and fresh air.

Man I just love being talked around as if I don't post. I was asked to spill and didn't quite like what you got perhaps? It wasn't a ''whoopsie'' or a glitch but someone's life on the line. So sorry to have bothered you all. I will keep reading to see how some of you are doing but think posting is perhaps not the best idea. Granted, I know in some situations that people don't always know what to say while others do or at least try to.

Big blessings and sincere thanks for those who cared for my plight.

Be Well All
Hajar, I went over to FO board and saw the above. Since I don't post on that board, I brought it over here where people do respond. My response is this. I don't know the story. My understanding from what I read is this. You're here in the U.S. because of something family related. Your Morracan husband couldn't come with you for some reason. You were going back to Morroco in late June/early July to join him, but something happened and you couldn't. He's trying to get out of Spain now to go somewhere (can't figure out from the posts) but for some reason he's having problems(leaving Spain?) Does this sum it up? I don't know, but since he's married to you an american citizen, he shouldn't have any problems(or am I just being naive) I would just contact the state department I think they have departments in all major cities. and get their help. would be a lot less scarier. and it always helps to have those in the know handle that kind of thing. I'm pretty sure that as a wife, you can also be his "sponser". Anyway, I may(as my brother works in immigration) or others may be able to give you some advise if we know the whole story, but either I missed it or it was never posted, so we can't. And if he's on some boat already it may be a moot point. So if I can be of assistance, let me know.

Somehow I got the idea that you were going to live with your brother. It does seem like a good idea even if you say it isn't so.

I have never been to any of the Simon and Garfunkel concerts despite having collected their songs since the 1960's. Of the two I always thought that Simon was the lead singer but Garfunkel surprised me with his rendition of 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters'.

102 mph - were you sober or do you just like to drive fast? I've gotten some memorable tickets but the highest speed I was written up for was 76mph in a 65 mph freeway. I did get out of one ticket in my long driving career - This was on the Massachusetts Turnpike when I was driving my family to a youth hockey tournament in Rhode Island. I had a cold and was sneezing constantly. We were just topping a small rise when I sneezed with my body going forward and my foot hitting the gas pedal harder. Wouldn't you know it but right on the other side of the rise was a Massachusetts state trooper. This was a memorable incident because the trooper was a woman and a very attractive one too. I told her that I had sped up involuntarily because I sneezed. She said "I've heard that one before" but I bet she hadn't. In any case, she let me off with a warning, whether she believed my story or the fact that I had my family in the car I don't really know.

When it comes to computers I seem to have a mental block. The same with digital cameras. Both the computers and the digital cameras were given to the wife and me by my son who is a whiz at both. He's spends much of his money on both computers and digital cameras. One of these days he is going to have to educate the wife and me on both - we are both computer illiterates. When that happens the first thing I am going to do is put up an avatar - not of me, of course. I'm too old and ugly but of my children, Mandy, Bug, Sheila, Buddy, and Moe. Mandy is my Siamese; Bug is my calico 'mutt'; Sheila is my tortie siamese mix, Buddy is my Ragdoll who thinks he is a dog, and Moe is my Silvertip Chincilla Persian who looks funny with a haircut in summer and is really cute.

But hey, you put up pictures when it counted. I am talking polish sausage.

You take everything, the laurel and the rose, too! Go on, take them! But, in spite of you, one thing goes with me now And tonight, when I, at last, God behold
My salute will sweep his blue threshold with something spotless -- A diamond in the ash which I take in spite of you -- And that's My panache.

Sometimes, bemused by the night,
I see far off in the silver light
A lady on the arm of her knight.
I dream of walking out in the silver glow
With a lady so.
I get carried away,
I pray.
I forget all,
Then see my shadow on the wall.
Sing, dream, laugh, move on, be alone, have a choice,
Have a watchful eye and a powerful voice.
Wear my hat awry, fight for a poem if I like and perhaps even die.
Never care about fame or fortune and even travel to the moon.
Triumph by chance on my own merit.
Refuse to be the clinging ivy nor even the oak or the lime.
Perhaps I'll not get far, but I'll get there alone.

In your presence confusion grips my heart.
My tongue is in a fetter.
If kisses could be sent by letter
You could read my words with your lips.
I'm leaving now. Sorry, I can wait no longer.
See? The moon beam is here at my door.
No one must help me. Only the trees. He's coming.
I feel myself shod in marble. Gloved in lead.
As he's on his way, I shall go to meet him sword in hand!
What? It's useless? I know. A man doesn't fight to win.
It's better when the fight is in vain.

Who are they all? There's a hoard of them. Ah, I know you.
All my old enemies! Falsehood. Cowardice. Compromise.
I know you'll get the upper hand.
Never mind. I'll fight on, and on, and on!

Roxanne, Roxanne. Cyrano DeBergerac was a tear jerker. I read the book (I think it was one of the Classics Illustrated comics) and saw the 1950 film version starring Jose Ferrer on tv.

I'm not one for romantic literature. I read a lot of historical novels - fiction based on historical events.

I just finished a book by Richard S Wheeler relating the life of William Barclay Masterson or Bat Masterson as he was popularly called. Masterson was a lawman in the old West and when his days as a sheriff and US marshall were over he became a writer for the NY Times.

My favorite series of books were written by Bernard Cornwall ( a Massachusetts resident) who wrote historical novels occurring in England from the time of King Arthur to the Napoleonic Wars. I have the complete set of books that feature Richard Sharpe, a soldier in his majesty's army, who rose through the ranks while fighting in India and in Europe. The adventures of Richard Sharpe have been televised in a mini-series starring Sean Bean and our very own Padma Lakshmi in one of the episodes. The series has aired on PBS. I missed seeing it in my area.

In getting your ticket reduced did you break down in tears? That's what one of my wife's co-workers did after the police stopped her for doing 50 mph in a 30 mph zone. He let her go. She must have been really pitiful.

Oh I was crying...Nah but almost for real.
I was a bit upset...and I begged..I have no dignity.
tongue.gif
I couldn't believe it as I really didn't even know I was going that fast and at the comedy class they actually made me wear a crown!!!

BUT I had actually gotten three warnings
before lol...I knew I was gonna get it
eventually.

The books sound great really..But I'd rather watch my history than read it at times.
Or go to it......But I think I've been through a *period* with all books.

So we go Police then??
I have a problem with wealthy rock stars who spend exorbitant amounts of money and try to save the world and feed the peeps.I just don't get it....I mean

How many houses do you need Sting?????

BUT he /they are surely spilling over with much talent.

Did you say Polish sawasage?????

Yes John I'm going to live with the brother but he is supposed to get married and move out leaving me the whole house and right now he's in *negotiations* with the fiancé' and that may take awhile so for now I get the downstairs.
They've been in negotiations for 4 years.lol
I godda give him credit... he is staying the course and refuses to give up on her as he loves her very much.We are a tenacious group we are.
Must be the Sicilian tongue.gif
I can tell you how to get an avatar if you like but it won't be your pic of course. If you want anything else let me know and I'll get the link and tell you how to do it.Avatars are a hobby of mine!!!
I'm eating Indian food...mmmmm I dunno' know what the hell it is but it good.

BTW ....Bison is really good.
Have you tried it????
I LOVED it and want more.

No, I have never eaten Bison but would try it if offered it. I understand that it is better for you than meat from cattle. I saw some Bison when we toured Yellowstone national park.

We'll hold off on the avatar for now but it may come down to you doing it for me if my son doesn't come through.

Four years is a long time. But then my Uncle, the one who lives in Gladwyne, went with my aunt for 7 years before they got married. I'll never forget that reception held in the Waldolf-Astoria in NY City. They had these little potato balls... and then when my uncle's oldest daughter got married the reception was on one of the excursion boats(the Minnie Ha-Ha) that tour Lake George. There was a band, dancing and lots of liquor. My uncle's family knew how to throw a reception.

Sicilians are interesting people. The wife of my best friend (have known him since we were in 8th grade) is half-German, half Sicilian...looks like Linda Ferrantino. They just got back from Sicily last spring visiting her relatives. Then I got to meet these same Sicilians when they came to visit at my friend's house this past summer.

Just as well that you are getting the downstairs. Who likes to climb stairs?

Three out of four - that's a pretty good batting average. Here in NY the cops may be a little tougher than in Florida. I think they have a quota system for handing out tickets. My son who drives too fast, has all these police benevolent association stickers on his car - NY and New Hampshire. I don't know how much that helps if stopped for speeding.
As for the Police, I am way beyond following the MTV circuit. Didn't the Police do a remake of Elvis' "Don't Be Cruel"?

I read a lot of books and have done so as soon as I was old enough to read. Now that it is summer and it is mostly reruns on tv, I read more than I watch tv. Reading a book is how I fall asleep at night.

Hey, Cheney is a useful guy. He's kept Bush alive as no one wants to assasinate Bush because they know who would take over the Oval Office.

He's a good CEO too. He got all those no bid contracts for Halliburton when Bill Clinton was president, even the ones in Iraq in the year 2000 - Better Halliburton than Red China.

Manny will be Manny and Obama will be Obama plus Obama sucks at bowling (my sport). Obama shot a 32 on national tv, a record low even among junior bowlers(I shot 103 in my very first attempt at bowling). Next time Obama picks up a bowling ball, the desk should set up the alleys for bumper bowling. If Obama can't keep a bowling ball out of the gutter, how is he going to do the opening pitch in the world series - if there were a batter(there isn't) he'd probably bean the guy.

We be on the same page with regards to the Yankees. It was my left wing uncle who first alerted me to Obama. I cautiously told my uncle that the guy was charismatic, but that was before Reverend Wright, Tony Rezko, Louis Farakan and William Ayrers.

Have you ever read the Frontiersman? It's a great historical novel about Simon Kenton, aka Simon Butler aka Simon Miller. It mostly takes place here in Ohio, but other states also. Time frame 1800's. Great book! Sorry to interrupt this private thing you two go going on laugh.gif

Probably not. Who is the author? The Ohio River was one of the gateways to the west.

Ever read about Donner's Pass????

Yeah the next TC.......Peeps on a stick!

As Marcel said :

Who doesn't like meat on a stick????

I know Psh does. tongue.gif

I know about Donner's Pass and the Donner party who got caught there during the winter and turned to cannibalism by surviving members to stay alive.

Top Henhouse:
I don't know what's going on among the female community on the other board but I try and stay out of it. It seems that every year when Top Chef is not being aired, past transgressions, imagined or otherwise, bubble to the surface and the board becomes a war zone. If it were me involved in one of the squabbles I'd just sign off until the next installment of Top Chef aired.

KK..He doesn't look white at all to me. He does have a strong resemblance to Curious George...IMO. I'm not saying that to piss you or anyone off...but I have listened to much worse about Bush for a very long time. So, in case he gets elected, you might as well get used to hearing all the BS that is bound to ensue. However, I do not care what color he is....I do not approve of the company he keeps (birds of a feather, ya know) and I do not believe in fraternizing with hostile insane leaders...such as Ahmadinajad (sp). *****ducking my head and running for cover****** tongue.gif
