Do you know my brother made sawsage peppers and onions the other night and I was down here and all of sudden I smelled it and went running upstairs ...NO I DID!! I ran up 20 steps.

I was hovering the grill ...He kept hitting my hand.Mmmm the smell.

My favorite smells are baby powder and lemons

We had stuffed artichokes that were really unique in some kind of lemony sauce and the most delish pizza in Joisey today....And REAL Italian bread ...Thank GAWD this mountian air makes you never gain a pound. rolleyes.gif

The guy making the pizza actually said

Too funny... Oh how I miss being married.

guy huh??? tongue.gif

Mmmmmmm Homemade jelly and jam.
Nothing like it...We got all kinds of orchards 'round here and I can't wait to pick me some fresh apples and get the pie and jelly and mmmm.

Pick the pumpkins....I'm in heaven. biggrin.gif

Fall is my favorite time of year..Woohoooo

I have some crab apple trees in my yard and hopefully by the time they're ripe (and not eaten by the deer and squirrels) I'll have enough to make a boat load of crab apple jelly. That's what I'll be giving for Christmas presents this year. Just walked the dog and boy it's already getting ugly out there. You can feel the humidity. Yuck! Might as well be in FL. Can't wait till fall. and all the color changes and coool weather. My favorite season also. Pumpkin bread..yummy my sister and I have a bake off every year and I always win. I would have given up already, if I were her.

OK but it'll have to wait till the middle of November. That's when I start baking and making candy like there's no tomorrow. Last week I had some over ripe bananas and since I'm soooo cheap, I wouldn't throw them out. Instead I made banana bread w/o a recipe. Turned out great. Guess I'm gettin better with age.

Harvard is where rich kids go. Princeton takes kids from all social strata. Did you know that Chef Patricia Yeo is a Princeton grad? She has a doctorate in biochemistry. I can imagine her parents reaction when she told them she wanted to be a chef.

Hey, KK,

My son and I plan to visit Prince Edward Island before we hit Nova Scotia. That's all I know for now.

The wife tells me to get a life too because of the time I spend on the PC. But then she's just as bad except it's watching sports and Law and Order marathons.

Hey, John! PEI is terrific. It has basically three industries: wind farming, potato growing, and Anne of Green Gables. If you get to visit the wind farm and its accompanying energy museum, by all means, do. We were very impressed when we went.

Nova Scotia is great, too. We did the Stan Rogers pilgrimage when we were there, but we just missed the 10th Stan Rogers folk festival. It started the day we left, and I'm still kicking myself.

Just thought I'd post this here for the Bacon Brigade:

MAPLE MISO BACON ICE CREAM BOURBON ROOT BEER FLOATS

6 strips of bacon (1/4-inch, center-cut works best)
1/2 cup light brown sugar (a little more or less, depending on the size of your bacon)
4 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons white miso
1 quart heavy cream
1 vanilla bean - split
1/4 cup Turbinado sugar
12 egg yolks
Maker's Mark bourbon
Root beer

Place the bacon strips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper so that the strips do not touch, then cover liberally with brown sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Remove from the oven, let it cool, then chop.

For the ice cream:

Over medium heat, slowly whisk the maple and miso in a small pot, until combined.

Place the cream and vanilla in a pot over medium heat until steaming, about 8-10 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine the Turbinado sugar and egg yolks in a bowl and beat them like you should have done to the wrestling team back in high school, that time they caught you walking alone at night. ... Huh? Oh, yeah, I'm back.

When the cream is steaming, gradually add 1/4 cup to the egg mixture; stir very well. Repeat this with another 1/4 cup. This is called tempering the eggs.

Add the egg mixture to the pot of cream and stir - don't stop, even for a second, or you'll get scrambled eggs - until the mixture begins to thicken, about 3-4 minutes.

Strain the mixture into a bowl, then pour the mixture into as many shallow dishes or baking pans as can fit into your freezer and will hold the entire amount. Place this into the freezer for 2-4 hours, until the custard is completely frozen.

Working in batches, use a spoon to scrape thin shavings from the custard and place them in your food processor. Then, pulse the custard in the food processor until it's creamy. Move the custard from the food processor to a bowl, and repeat with the remaining custard.

Finally, fold in the candied bacon bits; place this mixture into an airtight container and return to the freezer to harden, about 2-3 hours.

The custard is now ice cream, so put some Maker's Mark in a glass, add some root beer, and top with a couple of scoops of the ice cream.

Hopefully my son and I will be visiting some if not all of the spots that you mention. I have left everything in the hands of my son as far as planning this trip. At this point I don't know what stops we will be making. Another highlight I want to see is the change of tides in the Bay of Fundy.

Lia .... isn't it amazing how low Hollywood will go? I mean, the whole re-make thing is really getting out of hand....plots and ideas can't be all used up. Next thing you know they will be doing a re-make of Citizen Kane as a vehicle for Nicolas Cage or Gone withthe Wind with Paris Hilton.....

Drei Jahre später an der Bushaltestelle Three years later at the bus stop
Ich weiß, ich werde es nie vergessen I know I'll never forget

Can you understand the only way
I've smoked so may cigarettes and still I don't

It just hurts my head a lot oh no
I'm from the States and I drink of the night
I know very well what is mine and speak some German and drink from light to light Your eyes and mine
And mouth with mine
When you catch someone's eye look one more time
You speak with one voice but he doesnt reply
So one more beer, sailor
Thank you and goodbye
In any case, naturally, oh love

Hot and cold and young and old
Big and little
I want them all
From [expletive deleted] to [expletive deleted] and day to day
I am a Berliner when in your bedroom
I'll steal your man and then we'll be together
And coming and coming the only way

Your eyes and mine
And mouth with mine

You speak with one voice but he doesnt reply
One more beer, sailor
Oh, thank you and goodbye

KK,

I got back home from NH last night. My left knee, the one with the bone spurs, gave out about three days ago - too much mall walking. I am using a cane and have an appointment with my orthropaedic doctor tomorrow morning.

The trip was an interesting one - one of the highlights was crossing the bridge to PEI - I do think that the toll is exorbitant - $41 round trip.

The Bay of Fundy - didn't see the tides at their highest as we only stopped at St John's - stopping further up the Bay where the tide was higher wasn't on my son's agenda - he did the planning for our trip.

The locals - they were all very nice and accommodating. We could almost always tell who was a local and who was a tourist. The locals, for the most part, looked fit. The women, especially the taller ones, looked statuesque. Must be the Canadian diet.

The CAT - 46 mph at cruising speed. The customs guy saw my cane and put us in the handicap line claiming that we wouldn't have to do stairs - as it turned out there weren't any stairs alright, just a ramp from the parking area to the lounge. The handicap line went on board last(all the good seats* in the lounge were gone) - It was an hour wait and tough if you had to go pee. Going through customs in Portland was nearly as bad - four lanes and we were in the wrong lane again(90 minute wait) - my son finally got fed up and switched lanes. My son says that if we ever visit eastern Canada again we are staying on land. If you just have to take the ferry, take the shorter trip to Bar Harbor and save over $100. The trip to Portland cost the two of us $302. If we had gone to Bar Harbor it would have cost us $190 and some extra driving. *I did find a good seat - no window but in front of the wide screen tv and 10 feet from the emergency exit - in the event of a Titanic incident you put on life jackets and slide down this chute into lifeboat.

Food - the best meal I had was in Charlottetown PEI at the Flex Mussel restaurant - costly too - $61 including tip.

KK,

Speaking of Padma and the dentist I saw my dentist Monday. It turns out that I broke a tooth off below the gumline and will probably require surgery to remove what is left. I have a 10am appointment tomorrow to see a maxillofacial surgeon.

When I get out of there I have to stop by my pharmacy to pick up the stuff for cleaning my system out in prep for a colonscopy Friday am.

It is going to be a tough week. Geez. That's all you are going to have to look forward to when you become a senior - talking about your last trip to the doctor.

Cape Cod sounds nice - are you going by yourself or is it a family trip?

No John I will go alone as my g/f has a condo right near the Kennedy compound.

The Greatest Discovery

Peering out of tiny eyes
The grubby hands that gripped the rail
Wiped the window clean of frost
As the morning air laid on the latch

A whistle awakened someone there
Next door to the nursery just down the hall
A strange new sound you never heard before
A strange new sound that makes boys explore

Tread neat so small those little feet
Amid the morning his small heart beats
So much excitement yesterday
That must be rewarded must be displayed

Large hands lift him through the air
Excited eyes contain him there
The eyes of those he loves and knows
But what's this extra bed just here

His puzzled head tipped to one side
Amazement swims in those bright green eyes
Glancing down upon this thing
That make strange sounds, strange sounds that sing

In those silent happy seconds
That surround the sound of this event
A parent smile is made in moments
They have made for you a friend

And all you ever learned from them
Until you grew much older
Did not compare with when they said
This is your brand new brother
This is your brand new brother
This is your brand new brother

Lyrics to TV Is King
:

All right! Yeah!
I wish I was a man with a mechanical heart
I'd conquer all my enemies alone
I'd tear the guys apart
Then scatter the pieces
I wish I was the man in the sound proof booth
I wish I had a chance to stump the band
Or maybe tell the truth
And maybe I could win a color television

I really love my television
I love to sit by television
Can't live without my television
TV is king
You're my everything

I wish I had the girl with the bouncy hair
We'd ride off in a brand new car
or fly a plane somewhere
Like probably Jamaica
I'll brush my teeth, shampoo my hair,
and shave my face
Apply the necessary aerosol
in the appropriate place
And we'll spend the night together
watching television

I can't turn off my television
Don't really know why television
I understand my television
You've got your works in a drawer
And your color's on track
You have to brave the way
But you always come back
You make a hundred changes
But you're always the same
You make me so excited
And you make me so lame
You're just a cute ball of gas
And a box full of tin
But you show me your junk
And I want to jump in
Oh if only your chassis
was covered with skin
'Cause TV you're my everything

KK,

I am currently mending from the dental surgery I had this a.m.. It went well. After the novacaine took effect the dentist, a maxillofacial surgeon, cut the gum, peeled the gum back, removed the remaining tooth, and stitched me up, all in about three minutes. I did make it to my bowling league with 5 minutes to spare but was constantly attending to the gauze that was in my mouth.

As for Colonscopies, I've had it done three times before and for sure drinking that awful stuff the day before is the worst part. I went to the pharmacy and got the stuff that is mixed with water.

It's very important that you find work with a company that provides health insurance.

It sounds as if you have a great family.

I am not that close with my brother or sister although we get along with each other. It's just that we don't stay in touch except for holiday dinners at my mother's.

I do a have a bunch of cousins, uncles, and aunt, but don't see them except at the occasional family reunion. Because of the age of my mom and her brothers and sister, I expect that it will be a funeral(s) that would bring us all together again - Some of my relatives are in Hawaii, some are in California and Washington, one is on assignment to Beijing, and a couple are still here on the east coast - New York and Pennsylvania.

Best wishes for a safe and happy trip.

"Italian Radio"

I ended the book that I'm writing.
The part about you I'm tearing it out.
A simple goodnight, stop fighting,
There's nothing left to even read about.
I'm leaving you here my darling,
to search for a better and easy way out.
Through all of the pain that I'm causing,
There's nothing left to even sing about
And it goes......

Recorded Italian radio.
I changed up the words to make you happy though.
In front of the midnight music chow,
I beat up, I beat up the boy that made her happy
though

I've noticed the things that you wanted me to be.
They outweigh the ones that make me happy.
So pull out your hand to meet my...my fine new lady,
She's rock n' roll,
and she saved me.
And it goes....
