I'm sorry. I have been a fan of Top Chef for years. I have watched from Day One. But this season??? Did you run out of viable actual chefs?? These people are not Top Chefs! And what about the jerk off that claims he has to be pulled off by security?? HELLO?? Come on guys. You know there are many, many good cooks out there. You just didn't come up with them this season. I'm really sorry. Just wish there was something to replace. Not. But I'm not going to watch anymore. Just too (I was going to say painful, but actually just disappointing.).

You know I haven't even read the bios until tonight a bit and Richard seems to be of a high pedigree as do others including Dale and Mark who is self taught and one of the ladies seems to be doing very well.
(Can't remeber her name)

The herd will be weeded out and the best chefs will emerge as usual save for some disasters.

Stick around and watch what happens. wink.gif

Hey Aloha, do they have one for tapes also? My dad started writing songs and singing them at the ripe old age of 80. He passed away in Sept 2 months short of his 90th bd. I'd love to put those tapes on CD so they'll keep forever. I believe there are some expensive ones out there, but don't have that kind of money. Thanks in advance

HI SHY

SAW A POST WHERE SOMEONE FOUND A TAPE

DECK WITH USB PLUG INS......

BUT IF YOU HAVE A DECENT TAPE DECK

A GOOD RECIEVER

AND A PUTER WITH A GOOD SOUND CARD

TAPE TRANSFER IS PRETTY EASY

SO LONG THE SOUND CARD HAS RCA JACKS

USUALLY THOUGH IF YOU REALLY ENJOY THE TITLES

SHOPPING FOR USED CDS FROM THAT ARTIST

CAN BE MORE ECONOMICAL

FIDELITY IS THE KEY........

THOUGH TAPES ARE USUALLY DONE WELL FROM THE

FACTORY

OVER TIME THE MAGNETIC RESONANCE BREAKS DOWN

CREATING A HIGHER DEGREE OF HISSS

REASON FOR A GOOD EQUALIZER

SO YOU CAN ADJUST SOUND LEVELS TILL

MOST OF IT IS FILTERED OUT

BUT AS I SAID BEFORE

IF AN LP MADE IT TO TAPE IT IS USUALLY AVAIL ON CD

SO QUICK CHECKS TO EBAY OR AMAZON

CAN BE A QUICK SOLUTION

ESP IF YOU HAVE SEVERAL TITLES

AND WISH TO HEAR THEM IN A HIGHER DEGREE OF FIDELITY

IF REALLY OLD MIGHT BE EVEN BETTER

AS MANY RECORD COMPANIES HAVE GONE THROUGH

ALOT OF TROUBLE TO REMASTER THE MUSIC

FOR YOUR LISTENING PLEASURE

SORRY TO CAUSE SOME INDECISION

PERHAPS PROVIDING YOU WITH TOO MANY AVENUES

BUT AT LEAST YOU NOW HAVE OPTIONS TO

PRESERVE YOUR MEMORIES biggrin.gif

TO RECAP THOSE OPTIONS:

1 ) DIGITAL TURNTABLE

2 ) DIGITAL TAPE DECK

3) ANALOG TAPE DECK WITH RECIEVER EQ AND GOOD SOUND CARD

4) BUY THE CD IF POSSIBLE ON EBAY OR AMAZON
OLDIES USUALLY RUN ABOUT 3 TO 6 DOLLARS WITH SHIP

biggrin.gif

IF YOU GOT ANY MORE INQUIRIES JUST POST
AND I WILL TRY MY BEST TO HELP

Saw the digital recorder turntable in the Sky Buy catalog this week. They sell one for cassette tapes, too.

FELT I SHOULD SAY A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT

TAPE TRANSFER

THE SPACES BETWEEN THE SONGS WILL NOT REGISTER TO CD

AND FOR THE MOST PART WILL NEED TO BE MANUALLY

SPLIT.

THIS OF COURSE IS IF YOU WANT TO SKIP A TRACK

OR PROGRAM YOUR CD PLAYER WHEN LISTENING

OTHERWISE MOST PLAYERS WILL REGISTER THE

DISK AS HAVING ONE LARGE TRACK NOT ALLOWING

THE LISTENING OF A PARTICULAR SONG

REASON IF POSSIBLE SEARCH THE ARTIST AND TITLE

AND PURCHASE THE CD IF AVAIL

OMG, I couldn't agree more! I mean, they won't let us start topics, so somebody over at BravoTV needs to wake up and do the job their paid to do, don't you think? Either that, or put the folder for "EPISODES" out there and let us start all the topics we want, willy nilly. I mean, if I'm on pretty much every other BB out there it works just that way. I get that they want a pretty much maintenance free thing here, but if that's the case, then just let us do our thing. If someone gets out of hand, then we report them, the mods come in and shut that person down. It's all pretty basic stuff, no?

Anyway, thanks for posting this...maybe someone will catch up. Or hey, here's an idea...try putting up new topics for every episode that's going to air this season so that when the episode has been on for the week, we can go into that folder and post until our heart's content. Sounds good to me...

NO PROB X

AS AN OLD FART IN THE BREEZE FAN OF TC

I FEEL REALLY BAD FOR YOU NEW POSTERS

WHO COME HERE WITH HOPES OF AIREING YOUR

ONLY TO BE CONFRONTED WITH THE DISAPPOINTING

PROSPECT OF POSTING EITHER ON THE EP ONE

AND SINCE THEY'VE GRACED US WITH THIS OT THREAD

HERE wacko.gif

PRETTY SAD INDEED

TO HOPE FOR A REPLY

ONLY TO BE COVERED BY BAGS OF RAGS

OR REDUNDANT BANTER ABOUT THINGS

ALREADY COVERED......

MUST BE CONFUSING FOR YOU ALL

I THINK IT'S INTERESTING THAT BRAVO WOULD

ALLOW THIS KIND OF FAUX ATTENTIVENESS

NOT SURE WHY

BUT IT DOES GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY

REALLY DON'T GIVE A RIP

WHAT NEW FANS AND OLD FANS HAVE TO SAY....

THE WAY I LOOK AT IT

WITHOUT THE VIEWERS . THEY'LL LOSE SPONSORSHIPS

WITHOUT SPONSORSHIPS

THEY LOSE MONEY

SO REALLY IT "IS" UP TO THEM TO PERPETUATE

THE BOARDS...

AS IT IS REPRESENTATIVE OF VIEWERSHIP

OH

I KINDA LIKE YOUR SUGGESTION......

ONLY DOWNFALL ON ALLOWING US TO CREATE OUR

OWN THREAD

WOULD BE THE MAINENANCE AS PEEPS WOULD

BE POSTING JUST ABOUT ANYTHING

HAVE SEEN IT BEFORE AND IT DOES GET A TAD BIT

KAOTIC

HAVING ALL THE THREADS HERE WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA AS WELL.......

BUT WOULD PROB END UP AS KAOTIC AS

US MAKING OUR OWN

I never took Ponya to obedience training. She, also, was too dang smart for it. She always played nice with other dogs. She even had a boyfriend, Cyrus, tho she was spayed due to preggo complications. She always looked mildly appalled by his nose-to-nose kisses.
Anyhoo... there was one dog she couldn't abide, a black lab of all things. I was walking her out of the apt. building as they were coming downstairs. They met in the landing and the wrath of hell insued. Ponya lost a toe-nail and the lab lost his appetite for fighting. She was ticked about that all day... paced the floor growling. Didn't need a translator for what she was saying.
Could talk about her all day. She was my baby. Saved her from death. We went everywhere together and she saved my life a time or two. I share your pain as I feel it, too.

biggrin.gif

NO PAIN REALLY ....... SHE PASSED IN MY ARMS

OK. I need some help. I won't be so stupidly brash as our jerk of a couple days ago that posted its statement and then sat back to observe the responses for its Sociology report. I need answers to 2 questions for my Statistics project. Don't answer if you don't want to. No names will be included in the paper... just responses. For those who have already responded I truly appreciate it. If I get an "A" I will share it with the board. Drinks all around!

1) How many times per month do you shop for groceries?

2) At checkout... do you prefer the conventional lanes, express lanes, or the self check out lanes?

My other alternative was to do this in a mall and I hate being accosted by them when I shop. Please, forgive the intrusion but thanks so much for the help! smile.gif

Ion, that's the company. Thanks for your info, JustMe. The bit about songs running into each other makes sense. If I remember correctly, a few years ago some aficionado said that vinyl records give a better, more layered sound than CDs. I'm not discriminating enough to know the difference.

Good morning TC World!

I just popped in cause I got a couple of emails asking where I've been & if everything is ok. Quick update on the Jazzikins world....had a counseling appointment at our community college just before spring break. Am going on a four year goal to get my AA in music and a certificate is song writing! My creative writing class is getting really intense (for me) cause we've moved from poetry to fiction! Boy, there's a big difference between reading good short stories and writing them! I've been consumed with research so it seems like everytime I get on the computer I'm running all over the internet highway checking out places and possibilities.

Health is becoming minor problem again....got a couple of stupid benign (SP Mo HUB?) lipomas and one super-sized lipoma that all need to come off. Pain levels are up so I'm sleeping lots more than I'd like. Can't seem to get into TC this season, not sure why though.

Anyway....for those who emailed me....thanks for your concern, I'm doing fine, slowed down a bit right now.

The porch is always open....keep those cards and letters coming!

rolleyes.gif Glad we could help Parts hope you get an A !!!

So yesterday I did my filming for 12 Rounds and had a blast! My first surprise of the day was seeing old friends that worked on the crew and were really excited that I got the part.... My secound surprise was being so taken care of by the crew come here is your trailor....lol Oh now we have to take you to make-up....lol I had forgoten to set my alarm so I woke up looked at the clock yelled the F word really loudly and Jenn jumps up and says WHAT? I said I have to be on the set in 30 min. ohmy.gif

So needless to say I did not get my shower got dressed in a hurry and headed to the base camp. As soon as I walked into make-up I said " Make me pretty".... there was this beautiful actress sitting in a chair getting her make up done and she turned around to introduce herself and shake my hand...my eyes got huge and I told her you need no introductions I'm a huge Jericho fan... it was non other than Ashley Scott who plays Emily on the show she was such a sweetie..... wub.gif

Well after make-up and waredrobe it was hurry up and wait time so for the next 5 hours I either sat in my trailor going over my lines or B.S.'ing with the crew...

Finaly got my call they were ready for me on the set..... My scene is with Ashley and John Cena..... I was so nervous my hands were shakeing so much the make-up artist who was trying to dirty me up was worried..lol

So for the next 3 hours we filmed over and over and then broke for lunch and then filmed some more..... by the time I was wrapped I hear this Loud voice yelling my name from the set.... out came Renny Harlin the director and said " Kim you are brilliant..... Do you know what the differance is between a Great Film and a bad Film are? I said what? He said " A Great Film is when you see an actor in a small role make it look so natural and real that you just believe them as that charecture.... You did that brilliantly and it was pleasure working with you."

Well talk about flooring me with that... I said thank you it was a privilage as well all I was trying to do was not screw up....lol

As we drove off into the sunset Ashley turned to me in the van and said you know Renny dose not give compliments and to tell you the truth he told me about 2 weeks ago and said you are going to love the actor I got for Phil.

Thank for takeing the time to read this long post and letting me toot my horn a bit.... blush.gif

Years ago I went to Branson for a week of music and relaxation. Lorretta was going to be at one of the smaller halls for one night only. The twins were just starting out and didn't sing, but they sold t-shirts, programs, and cd's. They were incredibly nice to everyone. Loretta came out looking like a million bucks, did a kickin' concert, and then sat on the stage for over a hour signing autographs. She was kind and asked everyone questions as they went through the line. Her son was in the band and they had a protective zone around her to keep the audience at least 6 feet away. She still has a residual fear of audiences after being poked and jabbed by "fans." Oh, and she can tell killer jokes. If she is relaxed and enjoying the audience, she'll sit on the edge of the stage for awhile and tell jokes. I loves me some Loretta, too!

*wink*

Hi Jazz, take care of yourself. I also have been having health troubles so I can empathize. Took a terrible fall 6 wks ago and haven't really recovered from that as quickly as I would like. The whole family has been either sick or suffering from orthopedic conditions which has me at the Dr's offices and hospital labs and xray depts in all my spare time. Hang in there.

Hi ya gang...Just popped in t' say hi...Got a question-I'm kind of assuming most of us also follow the Food Network(or at least consult it from time to time)...Did anybody besides me post on the forums there before they were shut down(Duh-AH like anybody could post AFTER they were shut down... wacko.gif ...)?
I used to post on the "Good Eats," board...The nice thing was Alton Brown, used to read too...And every so often he would chime in...When I took my first "serious" kitchen job(I seriously considered becoming a professional chef)He posted a very encouraging letter...I felt honored that such a VIP took the time to wish me luck... smile.gif ...Even thought I really learned that I will always be an "amature"(I find NO shame in that)chef-actually I guess "amature chef" is pretty pretentious(sp MoHub) for a home cook... blush.gif ...
Ok so I said a lot more than just HI... laugh.gif ...

Okay, I'll probably get raked over the coals for this, being a KIA and all, but I'm going to say this anyway. When answering a previous post, in order to preserve the quoted material separate from your response, make sure the words "quote" in brackets and "/quote," also in brackets, surround the original quote. Your response must start after the "/quote" in order to appear as a separate statement below the original posting and guarantee you are listed as the poster of the response message.

If you use the Preview Post button to see what your message will look like before it reaches the board, you'll be able to determine whether you've gone wrong anywhere. (I know I always wind up regretting it when I don't preview! blush.gif )

Now, ready the rotten tomatoes; I'm going back to the corner of my cupboard. cool.gif

Please, forgive the intrusion but thanks so much for the help! smile.gif

Ok here is answer that will screw up your spread sheet... with me/us it varies. Most of thetime we go between 4 and 6 times amonth. However, if I am in the middle of a food project I might go 3 times in one day if I am not as organised as I should be.
I am a equal opportunity lane chooser, again depending on how many items I have and how big a hurry I am in.

Ion, that's the company. Thanks for your info, JustMe. The bit about songs running into each other makes sense. If I remember correctly, a few years ago some aficionado said that vinyl records give a better, more layered sound than CDs. I'm not discriminating enough to know the difference.

NP RIVER........WAS JUST A FEW COINS wink.gif

YOU KNOW THE THING YOU MENTION HERE ABOUT

AUDIOPHILES IS PRETTY MUCH TRUE

MOST "DO" ENJOY VINYL

SHRUG

NOT SURE WHY

SEEMS THEY LIKE THE HISS AND POP THAT GOES ALONG

WITH THE RECORDINGS

WHAT I FIND WIERD IS MOST OF THE SETUPS THEY USE

INCLUDE SOUND FILTERS AND EQUALIZERS laugh.gif

HAD SOME SERIOUS EQUIPMENT AT ONE TIME

AND REMEMBER SPENDING HOURS MAKING

MASTER TAPES FROM RECORDINGS

FILTERING OUT ALL THE HISS AND POPS

AND REHIGHLIGHTING THE HIGHS AND LOWS laugh.gif

TRYING MY BEST TO GET A "CLEAN" SAMPLE

THEN CAME CDS wacko.gif

NOW MY SYSTEM IS RELATIVELY SIMPLIFIED

AS THE ONLY HISS TO BE DETECTED NOW

IS THE HISS FROM THE SPEAKERS BEING OVERAMPED laugh.gif

I DO THINK ALOT OF AUDIOPHILES SAY STUFF LIKE THAT

BECAUSE

THEY JUST WANT TO BE JUDGED AS "ONE IN THE KNOW"

ME? I THINK IT'S SNOTTY biggrin.gif

CD'S SOUND SOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER

ESP WHEN REMASTERED BY A GOOD RECORDING STUDIO

BUT NO MATTER HOW IT'S RECORDED

I FEEL NOTHING PROJECTS IT BETTER THAN

A BOSE SYSTEM biggrin.gif

Went to the opening game at Nationals Park and, contrary to what the Washington Post seems to feel, I thought the park was beautiful. Thinking back to the first game I attended at the, then spanking new, Camden Yards I have to say that I like our park better. Then again I may be a little biased.

Our boys played well ,and Ryan Zimmerman hit a game winning homer in the bottom of the 9th with two outs, so I feel you can't start off too much better than that. I'm looking forward to many good times there.

Of course, since Drew is from Balmer, I will have to revisit Camden Yards at least five or six times this season. There's also a new minor league team out in Charles County (Blue Crabs), not too far from where my Mother lives, so I'll also have to visit that, as well as the Double A Bowie Bay Sox (nice park and nice folks).

I have a lot of baseball to look forward to this year.

If you take care of your records, and I do, you can get a more dynamic sound out of jazz and classical recordings on vinyl. I even kind of like the imperfections of an occasional pop and hiss. There's just something that's reassuring about the music growing older along with you. I know it's not the norm, but I like that.

As good as the jewel box may be on a CD, it will never be as nice as the art work on a fold out album. I remember going to Yesterday and Today records, where, on occasion, I would buy an album by an artist I didn't know, just for the art work. That's how I tapped into BeBop Deluxe. I saw the art for "Axe Victim" and had to have it.

THERE IS STILL HEAT FROM THE LAZER

DO THINK THE NEW GEN MISS OUT ON ALL
