HERE'S A TIDBIT

FOR ALL YOU

PROJECT RUNWAY FANS

In a telephone interview with an executive of the Lifetime Network the New York Post reports the following:
"'It will look exactly the same,' vowed Susanne Daniels, president of entertainment for all of Lifetime's cable networks. She got on the phone from Los Angeles yesterday to allay fears that "Runway" would not be recognizable to its legions of fans once the show makes its headline-making switch to the women's-oriented cable channel next fall."
Here is a link to the complete article:
http://www.nypost.com/seven/04092008/tv/re..._job_105742.htm
In closing, the New York Post speculates "With Bravo trying to produce a fifth season of 'Runway' to air some time this summer and Lifetime attempting to produce its first season of the series in time for a November premiere, 'Runway' gridlock is expected to set in this summer in and around Parsons School of Design in the garment district as both productions cross paths."

So much for a seamless transition.

Plot synopsis
A biker comes upon a girl with a flat tire and offers her a ride home. He winds up at a drug party with the girl's sister, then follows her to a turkey farm owned by her father, a mad scientist. The father turns the biker into a giant turkey monster who goes after drug dealers.

oh yeah. I thought you might. Somehow that Lust Farm poster reminded me of this one and I remembered watching it at the Alamo Drafthouse just laughing at the sheer ridiculousness of it. I need to see Fast Pussycat Kill, Kill. I have a couple of friends who are always talking about it. Possibly a bit different but have you ever seen Lair of the White Worm? I love that one. And there was a newer one about mad killing sheep??? I wanted to see that but didn't get around to it.

Miguel is a legend in his own mind. As my grandmother used to say "I would like to buy him for what he's worth and sell him for what he thinks he's worth. I would make a lot of money."

When you see Cody, or Nick, or, even, Oscar, you can see that he's just not in their league. These are Broadway proven dancers, and little Miguel is just a simpering little girl. In fact a few of the girls would be more masculine figures than he. He won't last long.

I took my little buddy, Matt, to see the Nationals at their new park tonight, and he was so impressed. He's from the midwest, and to go up to the left field bleachers, and look at the Capital, and the Washington Monument, really wowed him.

We had fun. The food was great, the seats were terrific, and, though the Nats lost, he had a great time. To show someone something that they enjoyed that much was truly a gift from above. As I get older I find that a gift that is appreciated, and taken with gratitude, is much better than receiving. It's really a beautiful thing.

Super...I'm listenin' to the Cantique de Jean Racine...The Organ, and Choir, work that Faure, composed...Beautiful...simply beautiful...I bought two new discs today-The Best Choral Album(In The World Ever)...I bought it only for the Cantique, but it has a lot of good stuff on it...
The other is Eric Whitacre The Complete A Cappella Works 1991-2001...I bought it primaraly for a trac called When David Heard...The text is from II Samuel 18:11...It descibes King Davids, reaction to the death of his son Absalom...The piece was written for the conductor Ronald Staheli, on the 1 year anniversery of his OWN sons death...It is NOT an easy piece to listen to...But it is hauntingly/gutwrenchingly beautiful...(ARSIS CD147)

From just reading the participants and selections in "The Best Choral..." it looks like you made an excellent choice. While I'm not very familiar with Whitacre, in the back of my mind I kinda remember hearing the "Absalom" once and being impressed.

In my googling I was surprised to find I could download "The Complete A Cappella..." on the internet. Now, as far as this goes I'm a virgin! I've never tried to do anything of the sort. Have you ever dabbled in this pond? Do I need any special software? Is it legal? Any advice would be appreciated.

Happy Listening!

You are right about Bush and FEMA. Katrina happened almost three years ago and Bush has been in office for nearly eight years. By now both of us have formed opinions of the latter and not much is going to change.

No talking about Hillary, Obama, or McCain? The drama between Hillary and Obama is better than the drama we witnessed in the Stew Room at the end of last night's show.

John..just wanted you to know that I share a lot of your political views here on the "left" coast(although the central valley where I live is largely conservative). I think history will vindicate G.W's actions;I just feel that his administration has made a lot of mistakes also that were uncalled for when the CEO (Bush) has a MBA. As for Obama and Hillary... I can't wait for the convention.... it looks like it will be a democratic blood bath. Who do you want to see McCain pick for V.P? I would love to see Romney.

You can find some very rare things on Limewire.

VERY!!!!!!!

Kristy.... unfortunately every time I have tried one of the file sharing sites (Limewire, Morpheus, etc) I end up with some virus on my computer. At least twice the only way I could get rid of said virus was to wipe and reload my computer which for me is a two day job. The legal aspect of file sharing not withstanding, I have come to the conclusion for me it is just not worth the risk. I don't know what the best answer is ... if someone has suggestions I am willing to listen.

WOW I'm glad you said...I have never had that happen and I have millions of songs.
Hmmmm... I have a PRO Norton...Maybe that is why????

I've never had a virus period even before that so
I don't know why???

I have AOL and they have good protection too and I had Stopzilla and then my son uninstalled when
I got the PRO Norton 'cause of sumpthin'.
Fighting each other ..just lke men. wink.gif

I also do the Adaware scan ..well not often enough but I try to remember.

I'll ask my son....But I'm glad you said 'cause I certainly don't want to cause anoyone grief.

Anymore than usual..lol

AOL does "add" extra virus protection to their service.... if you have never had issues then you may be just lucky also. Unfortunately, there are a lot of individuals out there that enjoy creating computer havoc... some benign, some not so much. And on the file sharing servers you really never lnow where that file originated. The ones that scare me are keystroke copyiers that transmit ALL of your data to a third party with the intent of identity theft. Lastly, the music industry has no "rhyme or reason " as to whome they prosecute for copyright infringment. The one common thing seems to be that the more you do it, the more you become a target for penalty. And even at it's best... that penalty appears to be expensive. Again... thats how I look at it ... what you do is up to you. I just don't like the risk on all of those fronts.

Wow, the PR battle made Yahoo's national headlines today! "Project Runway" fracas isn't pretty

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) -

Not even a catwalk catfight could prove as riveting as the behind-the-scenes sideshow that enveloped "Project Runway" last week.

With NBC Universal contesting in court the move of the unscripted series from its Bravo home to rival Lifetime, the TV industry has a war on its hands worthy of its own reality show.

But with all the attention on the boldfaced names battling over "Runway" -- series producer Harvey Weinstein and NBC honcho Jeff Zucker -- there's a deeper shift of cable's aligned forces only true programming wonks can appreciate.

Picture ABC losing "Grey's Anatomy" -- that's what Bravo faces with the loss of "Runway," one of its longtime hits. While the network is no one-trick pony, possessing one of cable's deeper benches, "Runway" clearly was one of its marquee attractions.

A better comparison than "Grey's" could be offered by more recent TV history. Think back to 2001, when "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" switched channels from the WB Network to UPN. The loss of the former network's signature hit spelled the death knell for a once-mighty brand.

"Runway" actually could end up being the second series to jump from NBC Universal to a Disney property, given that sitcom "Scrubs" is likely on the move from NBC to ABC next season. (Lifetime is a 50/50 venture between Disney and Hearst Corp.)

The "Runway" fracas also might bolster Weinstein and Zucker's reputations as blustery tough guys, but this fight also is meaningful for executives who might not make headlines but are royalty within cable. The big winner has to be Lifetime CEO Andrea Wong, who has slowly been doing the programming equivalent of a face-lift on the grandma of networks. She couldn't rightfully take credit for the network's latest hit, "Army Wives," because it was developed before her reign, but this one's on her.

And what of Oxygen? NBC Universal's latest acquisition now has to face off against its biggest competitor with an asset it brought to power. Ouch.

Switching networks will be the true test of time for "Runway," which just might be the kind of franchise that has legs longer than Heidi Klum. Last month, the Season 4 finale topped the previous year's ending by 9% in the adults 18-49 demographic, and the entire season run was up about the same. That's a healthy sign.

But if it's a false positive, maybe Bravo doesn't have that much to fret over. Think how quickly its former signature hit, "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy," melted down after running hot for a season or two. And recall that when Bravo pulled its own network switcheroo with HBO's "Project Greenlight," it didn't exactly cruise to the finish line.

What's most fascinating about this "Runway" saga is how it gives the lie to cable's most cherished principle: the power of the brand. Executives pretend every show on their lineup is like a different page drawn from the same playbook, but look how easy it was in this case to simply staple "Runway" into the Lifetime lineup. Whether cable's grand dame can trade its orthopedic shoes for Jimmy Choos, only time can tell.

Curious Cometary Knots in the Helix Nebula
Credit:
C. R. O'Dell and K. Handron (Rice University), NASA Explanation: What causes unusual knots of gas and dust in planetary nebulas? Seen also in the Ring Nebula, the Dumbbell Nebula and the Eskimo Nebula, the knots' existence was not initially predicted and their origins are still not well understood. Pictured above is a fascinating image of the Helix Nebula by the Hubble Space Telescope showing tremendous detail of its mysterious gaseous knots. The above cometary knots have masses similar to the Earth but have radii typically several times the orbit of Pluto. One hypothesis for the fragmentation and evolution of the knots includes existing gas being driven out by a less dense but highly energetic stellar wind of the central evolving star. The Helix Nebula is the closest example of a planetary nebula created at the end of the life of a Sun-like star. The Helix Nebula, given a technical designation of NGC 7293, lies about 700 light-years away towards the constellation of Aquarius.

A long time ago, when the earth was still green,
There were more kinds of animals than you've ever seen;
They'd run around free while the earth was being born,
The loveliest of all was the Unicorn.

There was green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born,
The loveliest of all was the Unicorn.

Now God seen some sinnin' and it gave Him pain.
And He said, "Stand back, I'm going to make it rain."
He said, "Hey, brother Noah, I'll tell you what to do.
Build me a floating zoo."

And take some of them green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born,
Don't you forget my Unicorn."

Old Noah was there to answer the call,
He finished up making the Ark just as the rain started fallin',
He marched in the animals two by two
And he called out as they went through,
"Hey, Lord: I've got yer....

Green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants, but Lord, I'm so forlorn,
I just can't see no Unicorn."

Old Noah looked out into the driving rain,
Them Unicorns was hiding, playing silly games,
Kicking and splashing while the rain was pouring,
Oh, them silly Unicorns.

There was green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Noah cried, "Close the doors 'cause the rain is pourin',
And we just can't wait for no Unicorns."

The Ark started movin', it drifted with the tide,
Them Unicorns looked up from the rock and they cried,
And the waters came down and sorta floated them away,
That's why you'll never see a Unicorn, to this very day.

You'll see green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you're born,
You're never gonna see no Unicorn.

BUT REMEMBER

ONE THING

ALWAYS LEADS TO

ANOTHER

The deception with tact
Just what are you trying to say
You've got a blank face, which irritates
Communicate, pull out your party piece
You see dimensions in two
State your case with black or white
But when one little cross
Leads to shots, grit your teeth
You run for cover so discreet
Why don't they

Do what they say, say what you mean
Oh well, one thing leads to another
You told me something wrong
I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another

The impression that you sell
Passes in and out like a scent
But the long face that you see
Comes from living close to your fears
If this is up, then I'm up
But you're running out of sight
You've seen your name on the walls
And when one little bump
Leads to shock miss a beat
You run for cover and there's heat
Why don't they

Do what they say, say what they mean
One thing leads to another
You told me something wrong
I know I listen too long
But then one thing leads to another
Yeah, yeah, yeah

One thing leads to another

Then it's easy to believe
Somebody's been lying to me
But when the wrong word goes in the right ear
I know you've been lying to me
It's getting rough, off the cuff
I've got to say enough's enough
Bigger the harder he falls
But when the wrong antidote
Is like a bulge on the throat
You run for cover in the heat
Why don't they

Do what they say, say what they mean

Kristy.... unfortunately every time I have tried one of the file sharing sites (Limewire, Morpheus, etc) I end up with some virus on my computer.

Ive had the exact same problems with both Limewire and Bearshare. Ive also had spyware issues with those sites too. I just stick with buying stuff from itunes.

Hello all,I have another dog problem and hope yall can help me.

Our Yorkie, Fido, will be 1 on the 18th. We got him when he was 5 months old and he had no socialization and had never seen a leash. It took a lot of patience and effort but he is now a very active, social dog. He can still be skittish around strangers and isnt too fond of kids but the difference in him since we brought him into our home is night and day. In fact,he is curled up right next to me as I type this, looking like a little angel. HA!

Well, starting about 2 months ago,Fido began going on these destructive escapades while we slept. We thought our Jack Russell, who turned 1 in Jan., Wishbone was doing it though. We had to crate Wishbone when he was younger because he would destroy the house at night. It worked out great and after only a few weeks he stopped the bad behavior. We just assumed Wishbone was the culprit this time too but we have caught Fido in the act several times now.

There isnt a magazine, shoe, toy, pen, clothing, trash can,etc...that is safe. You wouldnt think such a tiny guy could be so destructive but I really think he is worse then Wishbone, who is 4 times Fidos size, ever was. Plus,if you turn your head,Fido is quick to steal any snack you might be munching on. He also isnt a bit shy about lifting his leg and p!ssing on the coffee table or even your leg.

Heres our problem. We kinda-sorta created this monster because we were trying to get him more comfortable around people. When we did correct him,it would be in the softest manner possible. I mean,no raised voices,we never ever hit our animals. Chase,we beat daily but we never hit our animals. BTW,that was a joke just in case anyone thinks we beat kids.

How do we correct Fido after creating the situation? I dont want to scare him and undo all the work weve done. I also am not fond of crating an animal. I know we did with Wishbone but it was a last straw type thing and he wasnt skittish like Fido was. We snap our fingers,do all the noises the Dog Whisperer(I so fell for his BS and bought his books and DVDs)said to do but he just ignores us.

Any suggestions?

I hate to tell you this, because you obviously don't want to undo your work, but you'll have to crate the dog while you're asleep.

Keep a rolled up newspaper with you, and when he does something that is bad, smack him, ever so gently, on the nose, and say "no".

He won't like it, and neither will you, but it needs to be done if you want to keep your possesions. On the other hand, when he does something good then you praise him, and, maybe, give him a little treat.

Eventually he'll get the message, and you'll be golden. You also will have done no lasting damage.

CREATIVE CRATING

My brother-in-law has always had outdoor hunting dogs and used to keep them in a kennel unless there was someone in the house to supervise their activity. Not surprisingly they were hyperactive and aggressively sought affection when released from captivity.

Cutting to the chase -- one unusually cold winter my B-I-L took pity on them and allowed them in the house to keep warm at night. He had cages that he normally transported the dogs to field trials in and set them up in the master bedroom.

The pups came to love having company at night so much that all my B-I-L had to say anywhere in the house was "BED" and they would skedaddle up the stairs to their open cages. In time it came to pass that he could leave them unlocked -- the dogs just savored the luxury of "sleeping with the rest of the pack."

So, go ahead and try it! A cage needn't be considered confinement, arbitrarily -- as long as there's socialization available.

(Besided, dogs as loyal companions,
won't become bedroom tattletails.)

P.S. I just read SimpleBears solution, which is a good one also. While tapping the dog's nose look it right in the eye. Dogs interpret eye contact with aggressiveness.
