At least Jens team used the main ingredient, true it didn't end up being the primary flavor but it made it on the plate.

The other team changed the main ingredient and didn't even use this substitution as the primary ingredient. Anyone who proclaims that they refuse to use an ingredient isn't a top chef.

A top chef will take any ingredient and turn it into something amazing. At the very least a top chef will try. Both agreed on not using polish sausage and confirmed that neither are top chefs.

After the panel admits that neither of the dishes were bad, you punished an individual from the team that at least played by the rules. Because you liked their dish less?

Follow your own rules.

None of this makes much sense in 2008. Come on, Bravo, get with it!

Provide the appropriate episode threads on time (or before time) . . . is this asking too much??!!

And don't lock out previous threads, since there's run-over.

What is it about that that someone doesn't understand??

But anyways, I was gonna say that I almost stopped watching the show during the season 2 finale because of how they eliminated Sam... clearly BS, they just wanted the 'showdown' to be between the drama-makers of the show, Ilan and Marcel.... not why I'm watching the show!

Well, actually, BravoBoardBoss, you find yourself apologizing on nearly every new board, because they're activated late (or not at all).

So, quit apologizing and just be efficient in getting the new boards up. In this day and age, this is way too lame to even address.

If you care about this, do it right. If you don't, then stop it.

So disappointed in the mockery of polish sausage...and they didn't go home! Please tell me how you can deliver an improvisational mockery of the rules of the challenge and stay to cook. I don't care how their dish tasted...it wasn't sausage and that is the only technicality!

Well, I see that some things never change, no matter how long one stays away -- such as the unpredictable, unreliable incompetence that pops up on the Bravo boards without warning. For the first time in weeks, I get to post here; I spend several minutes composing what I want to say; I hit "Add Reply"; and, voila, a mere few minutes later, everything goes bye-bye.

Why do I even bother?!? (Oh well, at least one of my old buddies on the boards saw my reply fast enough to post a glad-to-see-you-back response.)

wow top chef has gone as far as to turn into Big Brother. They completly deleted my posts and there was nothing vulgar about what I said. I just disagreed with some people on a purely proffessional level. I was a cook, I was in the buisness for 10 years. I was Wylie Durfesnes sous chef at Clinton Fesh Foods so I kind of have some idea about the buisness. But Bravo is showing how week they really are. This whole show is just a fix in my humble opinion.

Hi, guys. This is my first time on TC's boards this season and my first time on any Bravo boards in almost 2 months. After I got back from my March vacation, I got overwhelmed at work, then spent the last week being sick. At least, being sick gave me a chance to rewatch all the TCs I had Tivo'ed, so I could feel more intelligent in my opinions.

I'll try to share some overall thoughts later, but here are just a few comments on tonights' show:

1) I thought it was hilarious in the QF when Dale (who has said he NEVER does Filipino cooking) decided to do halo-halo for the dessert challenge. There are some wonderful Filipino desserts (their style of leche flan, for example), but, believe me, halo-halo is not one of them. It was served to me multiple times when I was back visiting in-laws in March, and I did my best "mm-mm-this-is-good" routine -- but, trust me, I have NEVER had an enjoyable serving of halo-halo. I was sure Dale would be in the bottom three, and instead he made it to the top three.

2) Regarding the top two teams, I think the judges were spot on. Time and again, I think that Richard and Dale have been the most creative geniuses this season, and it was great to see them shine together again. It was also great to see Spike get some symbolic vengeance with his squash soup. I would like to understand why, some times, teams get the win and, other times, only individuals in a team do. After Dale got scr*wed when Ms. Bacon-Cooker won for his team's creation a few weeks ago, it was nice seeing him as part of a team when both people were equally rewarded for the win.

3) Regarding the bottom two teams, I think the judges were spot on, but regarding the loser team and loser person, I think they were dead wrong. I felt like the judges were having to stretch it to find a reason to give Jen and Stephanie the loss instead of Lisa and Antonia when Tom C tried to argue that J&S disregarded the rules too. Hardly! J&S incorporated all the key words in their challenge, just in a way that apparently didn't taste very good to anyone (except Jen, of course). L&A, on the other hand, simply decided that the rules were beneath them, and thought they could do whatever they wanted without consequence.

In rewatching all the shows over the last few weeks, I realized just how much I cannot stand Lisa. She reminds me of TC1's Tiffani, except that Lisa substitutes Tiffani's blend of one part genious plus one part b**ch, with two huge parts b**ch and an occasional accidental dallop of talent. Ms. Bacon-Cooker should have been out on her a** this week.

Bravo is taking that leap on that mythical ramp called jumping the shark. Oh and Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares is also still good and the new season should be starting soon too. Hey Bravo People after this season is over I think alot of us are going to place you in the Mtv Catagorie. and for me thats not a good place to be. You guys really know how to ruin a good show.I would love to have a few words with the person who is in charge of this site. You suck

It's been like that since the first season. Harold already outed their casting criteria. He wanted to cook for the casting people, unfortunately they just wanted him to be a personality.

blink.gif Ok, I feel like Richard's and Dale's dish, Perplexed! Jennifer should have NOT been sent home! Both Lisa and Antonia were soooooo Friggin smug abouth the ingredient of Polish Sausage that they simply dissmissed it out of hand. "Yes, please tell the chef I would like some nice fresh Kielbasa diced and sauted in perhaps a nice stout with a hint of spicy barbecue and plate it over rice" "I am sorry Sir, the Chef, she says that she will not serve Polish Sausage" I wouldn't eat at either of those smart a$$ little brats places. Some much for the rules, which the ENTIRE show is based on. What happens next week when either Lisa or Antonia decides not to stop cooking at the determined time because they won't plate something unless they have time to do so. At least Jennifer had friggin Aspargus on her plate, even if it tasted like shite she followed the rules. I've done stand up improv and you MUST incorporate the suggestions by the audience or director, not go into a monlogue from Hamlet. Typical elitist mentality, what a shame! But Tom, I still dig ya my man.

Add to that the complete ignorance of ethnic cultures. The Chorizo is not identified with Cuban culture as one of them mentioned; nor is Tequila for godsake! It's freaking RUM! If you are going to substitute not only food; but culture, at least get it right. If they were so arrogant as to not want to do polish sausage in beer (in Chicago of all places); then use something like Polish vodka as your drunken sauce base. This dish had far more wrong than just the sausage.

This is my first season watching and what a waste of time it's becoming. I've never seen judges so obviously make up reasons to keep or get rid of someone. Also, Tom is a bit out of touch with current food trends. He was whining on a previous episode about how spicy a dish was; until everyone around him verbally beat him down with their raves. He needs to learn that America's palate has broadened and that heat and spice is now very much expected in dishes with an ever widening range of diners. That dish, at least from the editing, was the obvious winner. Once again, bias and favoritism got in the way; as it did again tonight.
WhataJoke
And you know the Decision was total BS because Tom was trying so hard to justify sending Jen home. He even mentioned that their food was asparagus but cheese was more prominent. Uh the other team used zero main ingredients.

Hello Judges you have a call on line one, its the rules. They want to know why they were written out of this episode.
episode7wasbs
I am really angry at the judges for this episode. If their logic was that at the end of the competition the worst dish goes home, then when someone chooses to make italian for a mexican challenge, and their dish isn't the worst tasting then they will get to stay. What I am trying to say is that if one chooses to not follow the rules of the competition then their dish is not comparable for judging to the rest of the dishes. The polish sausage dish was not a polish sausage dish. Whether or not the asparagus dish tasted good, it had all the components set forth in the challenge. Therefore one of the polish sausage team members deserved to go home, period. I love this show, and honestly after this episode the integrity of Top Chef has lowered in my mind. If some fatal flaw like this happens in future episodes, no longer will the top chef be the top chef, or I viewer of Top Chef.

Dale's concoction actually did not look like authentic halo-halo to me. If you read the Wikipedia definition of halo-halo, you might see what I mean:

QUOTE

Halo-halo (from Tagalog halo, "mix") is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served cold in a tall glass or bowl.

There is no specific recipe for this dessert, and a wide variety of ingredients are used. The order in which the ingredients are added varies widely. Primary ingredients generally include boiled red mung beans, kidney beans, garbanzos, sugar palm fruit (kaong), coconut sport (macapuno), and plantains caramelized in sugar. Other components may include jackfruit (langka), star apple, tapioca or sago, nata de coco, purple yam (ube) or sweet potato (kamote), sweetened corn kernels or pounded crushed young rice (pinipig), leche flan or custard, ice cream and gelatin. Other fruits, such as papayas, avocados, kiwifruit, bananas or cherries, may also be added. Some preparations also include ice cream on top of the halo-halo.

Generally, condensed milk or evaporated milk is used instead of fresh milk, due to the tropical climate of the Philippines.

Some words just DO NOT belong in the same sentence together, and "beans" and "dessert" are two of them -- especially lots of different kinds of beans mixed together. Imagine a cold three-or-more-bean salad thrown on crushed ice with a few pieces of over-sweet fruit, and then a bunch of condensed milk for good measure.

Just makes you think of those Campbell's kids singing mm-mm-good, doesn't it?

I don't think Dale used either beans or condensed milk, which probably saved his dish.
