Chucole also in rare form today... A little punchy after a long week for all I guess!

Or maybe all just still in the groove after Wednesday's rendition of "Greasy Grimy Gopher Guts!" (Ah, yes, the hidden tallent on the board is slowly revealed!)

OMG, that song is stuck in my head now! I didn't think this week would ever end. To quote the Kings, "Nothing matters but the weekend. From a Tuesday point of view".

Greetings all, and thanx for the warm welcome. I'm relatively new to Top Chef having only started watching it mid-way through last season (Didn't have extended channels, so didn't know it existed).

The reason I asked about when the episode 11 thread would open is that I'd like to post a "Best guess" analysis about it based on the preview. It seems as though I'm not allowed to make a new topic, so will post it in 11 when it opens up. Meanwhile. if you don't mind, I'll post it here to generate some discussion/speculation. This is based solely off watching the preview clip for episode 11 on the Bravo TV website:

Apparently the elimination challenge has 2 teams working to "Open" a restaurant in 5 hours. Team 1 appears to be composed of Richard, Stephanie, and Antonia, and team 2 Dale, Lisa, and Spike.

Team 1 is a good, strong team and all work well with each other. Team 2 on the other hand all have personality conflicts and that hinders them from the start. I'll guess team 1 is the winner as I can't see Richard, Steph, and Antonia crashing and burning. It's possible, but not probable.

Team 2 on the other hand has problems from the word go, as all those personalities, ego's and resentments are going to be clashing. None are what I'd call "Leaders." and I don't think they're (Dale-Spike-Lisa) big or strong enough to overcome their differences and work as a team.

So, who's going to get sent packing? Frankly, it could be anyone. Dale is the best/strongest chef of the 3, but his personality, hissy fits, and inability to be a team player severely hinder him. Neither Lisa nor Spike can match Dale as a chef, and both have serious attitude/ego/personality issues as evidenced throughout the season. None are willing to take responsibility, and Spike and Lisa are only too ready to resort to subterfuge and dirty tricks. It looks like the fireworks, finger pointing, and blame game erupt again at Judges Table as team 2 self destructs. So who packs it in? Tough call. I'd think it would be Spike or Lisa, most likely Spike as the apparent "Leader." But based on the comments about being a "Team Player" I'm going to go out on a limb and say- Dale.

Time will tell.

Cheers,

Mark

This particular challenge is called Restaurant Wars (and my personal favorite challenge). Usually the person who chooses to be Executive Chef or the person who chooses to be Front of House are the most at risk. As far as my speculation goes, I've been surprised too many times to guess without seeing the episode and even then. Especially this season.
Last season the underdog team won the challenge. So you never know.

Whoever says they can do X in their sleep is in trouble.

Good post and I wouldn't be unhappy Dale, Spike or Lisa goes, but I still think it could be any of the six.

Mark,

You are a brave man to continue to post with all the shenanigans going on the board tonight! Welcome!

I'd say your analysis is very thorough and you are most likely right (although I would hate to see Dale go before either Spike or Lisa). I also would not put it past Spike and Lisa to team up against Dale and set him up to PYKAG (because they have to figure that their team will not be the winning team). But, as with all things TC, one never really can tell what is going to happen or what Chef C. will choose to base his elimination decision on. So, I hope either Spike or Lisa makes a serious/unforgivable (to Chef C.) error and that we are wrong about Dale being the one to go next week.

Welcome again!

SUGGESTION: I think the ultimate challenge would be to put all the chefs in a poorly stocked kitchen with a little of this and a little of that, such as you would find in the home of someone on a small fixed income with little money to spare for groceries. Which means minimal spices...a half-bag o this, a can of that, etc. They've just come home to a hungry family and have an hour to prepare a delicious, nutritrious and filling meal, but nothing was taken out of the freezer that morning. That's how most of live, so why not show us how??

Yes, they were naked.

And, yes, they were charming, but, then, one of the many writers was Bruce Vilanch, so what did I expect? See it now. It's lovely. I'm just happy that, with Netflix, I can keep it for as long as I want.

I hope Richard makes it to the end. I think he is the most creative of all of the chefs. I kinda sneered at the pocket smoker and devices but the chocolate/wasabi combination was inspired. I thought the beef soaked tofu was brilliant and I really liked the jicama wrapped taco. Wish he'd get another hair style tho.
KrisAnn313
Does anyone want to discuss how Spike is still on after that stunt he pulled with his Quick Fire win????? He gave no thought AT ALL to his dish, he just wanted to screw the others by selecting the most commonly used ingredients! I just about flipped when he throws in that little jab "nothing personal" when announcing his choices to the other chefs after he completed his head start! He deserved to get booted for that lame chix salad - who's he cooking for? McD? He was so concerned with messing everyone else up, he really screwed himself. Making that generic chix salad that could be bought at a run-down gas station should of been the final straw for him... Gimme Andrew's sushi rolls anyday, lol!

Ay yi yi. I don't even know where to begin.

I think Richard and Stephanie have the personalities to actually get along alright with either Spike or Lisa. I think Richard would show more attempt at authority or direction than Stephanie, though.

Dale & Spike = P*ssing contest
Dale & Richard = something great
Dale & Stephanie = something promising, maybe great
Dale & Antonia = something mediocre
Dale & Lisa = fireworks

Lisa & Spike = p*ssing contest
Lisa & Richard = meh, probably not great
Lisa & Stephanie= something promising, but probably meh
Lisa & Antonia = something noncompliant laugh.gif , but probably promising

Richard & Spike = scaly spring rolls, or something promising, probably
not great
Richard & Stephanie = something promising, probably great
Richard & Antonia = something promising, probably not great

Stephanie & Spike = meh
Stephanie & Antonia = something promising, probably not great

Spike & Antonia = need I remind you all of the infamous "soup" incident? laugh.gif
