Sure thing, BBB.

How can you put fresh food products in hair? Guess I'll find out, but...

Corn syrup and egg whites are good choices for this challenge.

OK, I am totally talking to myself here. Very cool that Paulo won!! Nicole knew she deserved to lose, I think that makes her a bigger person than some.

Uh, Shear Genius goes to the dogs?? Since when do stylists have to be groomers too? Not liking this much.

I think this episode was pointless. They are style human hair, NOT dogs. This does not show their talent at all.

How worthless. I want to give up on this show now. Changed the channel.

According to the "Today" show, licensed stylist can also groom.

Very happy Paulo won. Nicole just shows she has class in being a good sport in her loss.

All I can say about Nekisa right now, "I feel so sorry for the dog"

Turns out, they are to give the owners hairstyles, too. Very odd, IMO.

I agree. But I also think its ironic how Rene nagged her about curling the client's hair until she relented and straightened it, only for the judges to criticize her for straightening the hair.

Can this show get any goofier?
So far this season most of the hairdos have looked like rats have been crawling through them....
Charlie is getting so hateful I beginning to really dislike him
Right now I'm into Nicole and Daniel and even though I'm not crazy about Dee she is a really good hairdresser
bodmodkub
This show is a total joke. Its obvious they are only keeping Charlie for the drama factor. His cut this week was THE WORST OUT OF THEM ALL ON ALL COUNTS. Anyone with two eyes could see it.

Bravo, you are a joke of a network. I've seen you do this on the most recent season of Top Chef, and now Shear Genius. These shows are suppossed to be about people being the best at what they do, not being the best bitches so you can keep your ratings up. This isn't the Real World.

Luckily for me, I have a neilsen box, so I can make sure the fact that I WILL NEVER watch this show, or any of your other shows ever again actually counts.

As a licensed hairstylist, I have to say I'm very disappointed in this season. Why is Jaclyn a judge? Is she a hairstylist?? NO! And it seems this season her opinion counts more. Kelly Atterton....she has one of the worst hair styles I have ever seen! She judges beauty and fashion...are you kidding me??? For this show to become reputable, they need to have more judges that are industry related. Why isn't Rene Fris a judge?? HE'S the hairstylist of the group. Kim Vo is a good judge. He knows hair!

And the challenges this season are ridiculous! They don't test the skills of a stylist. How the hell does cutting a dog's hair have anything to do with their level of talent??? I've tried to cut my dog's hair...the texture is different, they don't sit still...not the same playing field!

This show is becoming a joke. Entertaining...maybe. Reputable...absolutely not!

Step it up Shear Genius....or you will be losing me as a viewer!

So okay, you're not talking to yourself anymore. But really you may be the only person left watching this facade!
Charlie does not help the ratings, as a matter of fact; if he slides by one more time or if he actually wins one more time with his less than artistic hair do's . (yes I said hair dos) I quit watching.
Marge Simpson. . he didn't do anything that my 10 year old granddaughter couldn't do, . no artistic flair.
Red carpet . . . are you even serious a little?
Vibrant color? OMG you have got to be joking., you couldn't tell what went wrong at the roots or what it would look like on a daily basis.
Men's cut. . get a life. every one of them except Nicole should have been cut.
His wig cut was just a joke,
His everyday was even more dull. He can't cut hair. . He certainly doesn't know how to train his clients to do their own.
This week he didn't even try. He actually had the best of the kitchen products, he could have made a paste. he could have really sculpted her hair. but no. .he made another rats nest that lacked any imagination.
Then he didn't even do the real challenge.
He hides his inablility to cut hair and color hair under the rat's nest that he's becoming famous for. Next time you see one, make him take it down and prove his "style" works.
Does one of the "judges" have a crush on his over-inflated, rude and fat ass?
He is by far the least inventive, the least talented and the least professional of all the contestants to date.
And can someone please. please. PLEASE develope a challenge that will force Dee to do something other than the disjointed bob that she's mastered? Her color work should have won last week but she's just too butch for pretty boy to appreciate.
Producers, you're ruining the show. Let them cut, color, perm and style hair. Quit putting in your 2 cents because that's what it is worth! By the way, both Jacqualin and Kate need updated. Their hair is too dark for the ages and makes them look too jaunted. I would love to have had that challege with women their ages. Oops, I do everyday. That's how I make my living. . taking some women out or their comfort zone and revitalizing their looks to accent their beauty not relish in what has been. By the way, the 80's influence is back in hair trends. . lol waves, movement and bounce. .
I won't be watching if things don't change soon.
And you can quote me right to that pompous ass's face! Blondie
And tell Daniel that the rest of Texas is not "in love" with hairspray. In Austin, we have a very diverse crowd and hairspray is about the last product we use on "every" client. ROFLMFAO

Jaclyn Smith was a hair model (similar to Heidi being a Judge on PR after being a fashion model) She was an original Breck girl. (Not to mention being on the biggest "hair influence" show of the seventies.... you think "the Rachel" was popular?... everyone had a center parted feathered back Charlie's Angels hairdo..... even the men!)

And her fame and "Q factor" are why many folks first watched this show.

and I then remembered Tabatha saying something (in the the first season) like "it better not be dogs"!

So maybe the producers have taken that idea and are using it?

WOW! I guess you told them! I admit, I tend to agree with a lot of what you said, however. I'm pretty much over Charlie even if he is from Denver.
I DO seriously like Dee, however, both her abilities and her demeanor. I don't see where she favored Nekisa, but maybe I'm not watching closely enough. I also like Nicole for some strange reason--she is so earnest and honest when she screws up.
The rest of them really don't interest me at all. I'm sure glad Nekisa is gone however.

Ok, I was semi with you on your views, until you put Kim Vo and the words "good judge" in the same sentence. Did you not see that montrosity of a 'do he let Charlie win with in last week's short cut challenge? It was hideous, and I agreed with Dee when she asked about what he had been smoking. He often praises Daniel's work, though I have yet to see Daniel produce anything that would be worthy of anyone outside of Texas.

This season is totally disgusting sad.gif . The snipping and name calling is awful. On other shows they beep out the words, how can you let them talk like that without saying something. I guess you think it's something to make people watch your show. Charlie, besides being totally gross and ugly, you would never put a female on who looked that bad, is so wrong. The judges go gaagaa over his hairstyles, and they are so baaaaaaaaaaad.

I really enjoyed the show last season - this season? Not so much.

The challenges are hair-brained and the hairstyles created are either ridiculous or boring. wacko.gif

Last season had some really good challenges... and while I don't think we need to rehas the past, a wedding show would have been brilliant... as a professional stylist and colorist, I've had to do LOADS of weddings, and I'm sure most of our forum members would agree that doing weddings IS a challenge! So, why no wedding challenge this year? I'm pretty sure we'll still have a photoshoot challenge, or have the producers decided that THAT show doesn't need to be done again, too?
<SIGH>

Glenn wasn't going to win this thing! Even when she took top honors the week before, it was on a client who could support and make good of that "old fashion" way or style she gave her! They had been saying this for quite a while; "dated" was the buzz word for Glenn! I'm really not that impressed by any of these stylist! Dee is good, but is guilty of repeating herself, Charlie is just a jerk even if he knows what he's doing, and Daniel needs to lay off the hairspray! I think he's been inhaling too much of it! How Paulo and Nicole have survived so long is beyond me! This will wind up like last year with the best gone in Tabitha and Tyson! Anthony was ok, but what in the world was Ben doing in the final? Can you see Nicole going up against Paulo? That might be the 'Death Nil' of this show! lol!!

My stylist actually saw a lot of potential in Ben (as did I) and felt he could really have benefited from the Nexxus apprenticeship. He definitely said Tabatha was the best of the bunch, though.

Thanks! Exit, stage left even!

BTW, the whole "clients coming over the hill to reveal the dogs last" camera angle was a total rip off of PR's Doggy Challenge....
dogabone
What I had liked so much about Shear Genius in season 1 was its use of real-world (okay, except for the weird tools) challenges that involved skills the stylists should have.

This season started out like that and then got silly. If they were going to do the dog thing, I'd have had each stylist paired with a professional dog groomer and have them work as a team to produce the dual look. That way, the stylists would have been responsible only for the human clients but would still have had to coordinate with the doggy styles.

There were plenty of real-world-based challenges the stylists could have been presented with—for example, prom hair, kids' hair, balding men, and older women with grey hair.

I was really excited about the idea for this episode, but then that was it! No one really impresses me except for Dee and Nicole (my favorites). I did like Paulo's short cut challenge style. It had an idea to it, and it made sense to me. Daniel's berries did look kind of suspicious!! lol

Why does this season seem so slow moving?? I am just not getting as excited over it at all, hopefully that will change soon though because I do want to keep watching the show.

On the green challenge..
I hope Daniel's berries are not that inflamed! But nothing could top Nicole's squid. So glad she took them off! Nicole has class in that she admits when she fouls up. And she really does seem to want the best for the client.
Daniel is a favorite and so is Dee. Sure they have ego but they are reasonable. Charlie is not as badboy as he pretends, but he is a pain in the a$ on the show. I like him from a safe distance. He has big highs and lows like Paolo. Neither Charlie nor Paulo seem as "in touch" with the clients as Nicole, Dee and Daniel. They tend to impose their vision willynilly.. That may be their downfall unless they wow the judges again. And Kim Vo is too savvy for their schtick. happy.gif
On the doggie challenge...
I agree with the posters who want to see more down to earth challenges. I would love to see back to school cuts...
