Discuss the premiere.

We've been waiting for weeks, so c'mon, throw us a bone, heah, whydontcha!

It's not as pressing as it used to be! Look at the lack of participation! My Gawd, 2, 3, 4, or 5 pages after a week of a new show! Too bizarre! Where is everyone? lol!!

You got that right! Even the most popular shows (PR & TC) don't garner the kind of board support they used to. I remember when I'd wake up the night after a new PR or TC ep, and find that I'd have to backtrack through 30 or 40 pages, whereas now there are only 3 or 4, if that.

I think it has something to do with the shows themselves being less fresh, innovative and just plain "new" conceptually, while viewers are finding themselves wanting more of the same things they just aren't getting anymore.

I don't want to turn this new board into a b!tch session, though! Sorry to have hijacked the Tabatha board, all! I just wanted the BBB to know that there's at least one DME fan out here who's a little miffed that we get nothing more than a "teaser" board.

So, do I get the premise right? That Tabatha from SG goes to different salons and kind of gives them makeovers ... a little like what Gordon Ramsay does for restaurants on Kitchen Nightmares?

That's what it looks like! The preview says she's there to bring them back from the depths with bad management and stylist's indifference!

Hmm. Well, I guess if anyone could pull that off, she's our girl! I mean, she's got an accent and a penchant for pottymouthery, so who knows? I'll maybe give the premiere a look-see. It's gotta at least be better than Hey, Paula, right?

No doubt! This show with Jo spin-off from OC Skanks is probably as bad as Hey, Paula! Now it looks as if the old BF wants her back! She's nothing special! How in the H e l l did she get this gig? I've seen more attractive women heading to work in sneakers! Shesshhh!

(IronChef, formerly LadySuede):

I never watched the Housewives of OC, but I caught some eps of Date My Ex, and I thought it was kinda fun viewing, even if a little vapid. That someone's ex would want to choose prospective date-ables from week to week and then hang out in the same house with them seemed like drama potential extraordinaire. Besides, I have to admit, some of the guys have been totally and watchably hot, not to mention the fact that I've developed an incredibly inane crush on Slade.

I agree, I don't think Jo's all that, but she's relatively watchable, and I actually kind of hope they do get back together, even though I didn't know a thing about them before the show.

I wasn't going to watch this show, I really wasn't. But I had last night's PR on, and got involved with a friend online. Next thing I knew, I was watching as Tabatha walked into the salon and announced the takeover. Surprisingly, I like the show! smile.gif

She really knows what you doing! So long Chris! I love redheads, but he had to go! He was just taking up space at the salon! Well done T.!!

Love the show. But then, I knew I would when I first saw the previews for it because I got such a kick out of Tabitha during season 1 of Shear Genius. smile.gif

Yeah, what the heck was he doing there in the first place? Is the place losing money? First thing I'd have my husband do is get a job!

Dunno. Just thought it odd he would "work" there.

Talk about delusional! He supposedly quit his job to help his wife out! How was he helping by just hanging out? I still can't believe they spent almost a million dollars for that place! I'd check some bank accounts because someone has been embezzling funds! lol!!

I agree I was ready to hate the show; but so far(I'm watchin' the rerun)I'm kinda likin' it...But I'll have to admit I'm watchin' it between Vollyball sets in the Olympics, Rodgers, and Dalhausser...GO USA...

I really didn't like Tabatha in SG...she knew her stuff, but she was rude and bossy.

She still is and that is why she is perfect for this show! I went in tonight giving the show a chance and I now have a season pass set up on my TiVo!

Tabatha has a lot of experience that other salons can learn from and she surprisingly had a softer side tonight.

I think the one thing that a lot of stylists make is that they think they'll be great salon owners too. Owning a business is a lot of work and not everyone is cut out for it.

It will be interesting to see Tabatha weed out those type of people this season. The previews for next week look juicy!!

Like Gordon's Kitchen Nightmares, you have owners of a business that would rather fail doing things their way! It's so bizarre! They all seem to fight change! I still can't believe that woman bawling, not with tears of joy that things will turn around; it was all about her and the possibility she was the true failure! Too bizarre!!

My mom was doing big managerial business in the '60s and '70s when women thought it was exceptional to have business jobs of any sort. She has great respect for Tabatha cutting to the point and getting rid of some of the nonsense that was going on in that salon. I couldn't believe the pages and pages of useless protocol for things as small as gretting people on the telephone; my goodness. Rules are supposed to enhance efficiency, not stifle it. Tabatha did well to get rid of that and some other things that were costing money while making no sense.

She definitely did great with this couple, although after seeing her cuss out the guy in the next epi's preview, I wonder how the next takeover will go..lol.

It comes from total frustration dealing with STUPID people! You see it all too often someone would rather fail on his own than to succeed with just a few suggestions to help them out! Nothing Tabatha said was earth-shattering! She made simple observations, without sugar she told them what they needed to hear!

I said in the 1st few moments, "wtf is Chris there for?" He was obviously out of his element and he wasted so many years just sitting around rather than doing something he really liked! I've never had much sympathy for people who are able to do something with passion, but sit in a position and gripe about it day in and day out! I guess I've been really lucky, but I've never had a situation where I had to compromise myself! Taby smacked them around a little, they came around since it was common sense solutions even though the change was so radically swift! I would have thought Kwanna would have loved the change! Instead she went into hysterics! I will never understand the crying on these shows! That one stylist about wanted to commit Hari-Kari when she was called on the "inch-cut" situation! lol! SHeeshh!

Of course it's a ripoff of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares—right down to the return visit—which is why I refer to it as Tabatha's Salon Nightmares!

I was pleasantly surprised on the whole, but for me, the real difference is that Ramsay is about the restauranteurs succeeding on their own—at least on the original UK version.

On the other hand, Tabatha seems to be about Tabatha. I lost count of how many times she patted herself on the back in the epilogue. "I fixed it"; "Thanks to me"; etc. If you check out a Ramsay epilogue, it's all about the restaurant and its staff and owners doing things right. I have never heard Ramsay say the sort of self-aggrandizing, self-crediting things Tabatha did.

You said it all for me. I got in on SG 1 late (I don't remember why) and never developed a great liking for Tabatha (and didn't understand why so many were crazy about her). But I really liked the first show last night and I too watched it almost by accident.
Wonder what she would do with Jonathan Antin's salon? Now THERE was a dysfunctional business and proprietor. Just sayin'

I want to post on the Jo and Slade board, too! But back to the owners of the Salon: Why was the lady crying? I don't get why she was upset and crying! I would have been so grateful that someone remodeled the salon and bailed me out of debt, that I would be so happy! The salon had such a negative vibe, and some of the stylists were rude, etc! I was glad that they helped those people! Does anyone know anything about the lady, Kwanna? I feel like I've seen her somewhere before. Maybe in a pageant or something similar? She looks familiar!

The last thing I needed was another show I have to watch but I LOVE Tabitha. That Chris was really annoying, just standing there with that flat affect unless he had to chase Kwanna after she had a meltdown. It was no surprise that they had gone through eighty employees in two years. Kwana had some MAJOR control issues. Tabitha was great!

IMO, Kwanna looked like an older version of the actress Juliette Lewis.

I see this Kwanna as very self-centered and over anxious. She because the decor of the salon was an extension of her self image, and she was being asked to "get real". I could not feel much sympathy for her when she admitted going through 80 employees in two years. She caused disruption in so many people's lives in great part for, I suspect, her own delusional vanity. And what was the deal with her holding back the most talented stylist in the salon?? (according to Tabatha at least)
Her husband Chris will spend his life humoring her in exhange for feeling needed and whatever favours some manual says he is entitled to no doubt.

This was really a good first episode - it actually shows another side to Tabatha.....who knew?? She did quite well with all those unique personalities.

I liked her in SG1 - she was fierce, but dangerous smile.gif

This show reminds me somewhat of "Peter Perfect" on the Style Channel - I liked it too.

Looking forward to EPI2 - hope it continues the way it started.

angry.gif Well for starters...
I know that Bravo is trying to make the show exciting... however Tabitha is a bad choice for this show. Tabitha is rude and CONCIETED. I feel she only got the show because she complained to bravo that she felt slighted because she was let go from SHEER GENIUS" because of a team loss instead of a personal loss. (GET OVER IT TABITHA!!!! ) Tabitha believes she is better than anyone else and doesn't hesitate to show it. I live for the bravo channel I don't like to watch Tv but the quality of their programming is impecable except for their choice to use Tabitha.

Bravo please reconsider your choice....I say slap a pacifier in her mouth and tell her to get over it that she didn't win on SHEER GENIUS. (waaagh waaaaah). tongue.gif

I now watch the real estate agent show, Sheer Genius and Project Runway this is high quality programming.... along with my guilty pleasure of Kathy !!!!

Good 2nd episode Tabatha - Michael and his ex were the real diva's of this episode. I hope all turns out well for the stylists - they seemed to be a good crew. I think many of us have worked for managers that were without a clue!

Good show so far Bravo!
kdm1984
I caught the tail end of the episode, thinking it was a rerun of the first. I thought all the new episodes air on Thursday night. Was there a reason episode two aired so early? Was this a surprise or did I miss something about the scheduling? I see it will be on again at "normal" time.

I have not seen EPI2 yet, am looking forward to it tonight. I would be interested to see the contract the salon owners sign in order to get the publicity of being on the show and the advice and improvements. Tabatha is tough and blunt and knows her business which is sexy.

Talk about delusional! At least I know I have control issues and I wouldn't put myself in that type of situation! I don't know how these people are supposed to get outta that hole! Interest on credit cards are a trip and a half! Tabatha may be an ego maniac, but if you back it up, I can relate!
