Hey there, Note! In some ways, this season went really fast.

If it's between Nathan and Preston, let it be

who wins!
This is my first season of Top Design and it's really thought provoking! I am reading about

Adler's aesthetic of "happy chic". He seems like an incredibly positive guy who has been married 12 years. His husband is a writer. I guess I should stop now and get ready because I did miss part of the last episode, but saw the end. Of course I am not going to redecorate. We don't fix what aint broke, but I may look for his book for his philosophy of happy.

Yes Yes Yes...I'm a NATHAN fan myself!!
But if it's between anyone else and Eddie...well lets just hope it's NOT!!
This is my first season of TD and I am surprised at how fast it went. I guess it's time to find another Wednesday show all together. Every since PR ended...I've only had this to fill my emptiness!
I hear y'all speak very highly of Top Chef...never seen it before. I guess that will have to be my replacement show. When does it start? It seems very popular.
Everyone enjoy the show...let's keep our fingers crossed that Eddie gets a boot shoved up his Martha tonight!!

You should do hat I do get DVR and pause it at the start. That way you can FF through commercial and boring and those Martha Martha Martha tantrums.
Wow this did go by awfully quick.
I can not say this season was that engaging to me
i have kept watching because I like getting ideas off the show for my Sims 2 game. I will never have money in real life to decorate a real house so i live my dreams through a game
I just was not got to see it right now type thouigh this season.
Sad because I really got into it during past ones.
Off to watch and see what is happening

I'm surprised at Nathan! So Preston isn't being very social! I'd be exactly the same way! I can only deal with gregariousness for so long until I have to find a hole to crawl into! I need quiet sometime! Boozing is not my thing either! I figured Eddie would lash out, but he just "
wants" Preston! "Admit it Miss Thing!" lol!!

Jay, I agree with everything you say, but especially your final comment. Eddie reminds me of a superficial bar-bunny diva/queen who just can't stand it when someone else in a bar is better looking, a better dancer, and doesn't worship the ground the diva/queen walks on. Like those bar-bunnies, Eddie knows he can't win over Preston on either looks or talent, so he tries to diminish his "rival" with absurd cattiness.
I haven't posted much on any Bravo show recently, but I have been watching. I can finally celebrate an elimination on Top Design. I have wanted Eddie off since, at least, the green design competition. Environmental responsibility is a primary issue for me, and Eddie's complete disdain for green design just infuriated me. Then when he won, I could have thrown a shoe through my television. He should have gone home last week (dang that immunity!). Finally, he got his just desserts.
Eddie probably has exactly the right personality for working for the abusive-jailbird diva. Part of me wonders whether Eddie was/is nothing more than Martha Stewart in drag. I can't think of a single contestant on any Bravo competition whom I have found more detestable than Eddie -- and that is really saying something.
And I just love Preston's work! For the first several weeks, I was pulling for Nathan and Wisit (or "sweet doofus" -- SD, for short). SD lost my support when he just could not get his brain to work at all in sync with multiple clients. I still think Nathan is very talented, and wouldn't be too upset if he wins the whole thing.
But over the last several episodes, Preston has really wowed me, so that he is by far my favorite now. He started out as little more than exquisite eye candy. But he has proven that his designs are just as delicious as his looks.
It is a delightful irony that Eddie (who has never let slip by a single opportunity to make some unmerited, classless, catty comment about Preston) that he got voted off while Preston had yet one more burst of genius that drew strong praise from the judges. The fact that Preston shunned Eddie is, in truth, just one more demonstration of his flawless taste.

I think we voted Eddie off this week! If you look at the posts, no one was really cheerleading for him! He just wore us down with his self-absorbed attitude! "It must be a gift from GAWD!" What a doofus!! Good-bye and good riddance to bad rubbish! At least he kept a smile on while being dissed and tossed off the show! Maybe he knew he would be coming back for the finale as a helper bee! Who else do you think will return as well? They need 2 more; maybe Andrea will be one of them after she's visited her family!

I really hope Preston will win. com'on Preston, represent WeHo for us!

I agree for the most part with everything you've said about Eddie...but fat???? I wouldn't call him fat...a FAT head yes, but not fat!
I am soooo happy with the results of this episode. It totally makes up for having to watch Kenley in the finale of PR. I'm excited for Ondine and I really liked her room. In fact, I think her room might have been my favorite. I did like Preston's room too. Nathan's was kind of blah for me this week...but anything would be blah compared to last week's room. Anyway, good episode...it's so nice to see judging results that actually make sense.
Oh and did anyone else think the judges were about to get in a cat fight? I like that TD shows more of the judging conversations...arguments and all.

He's not fat, but the grandpa suit he wore in this episode made him look fat. And next to Nathan, he is shorter and softer looking.QUOTE

I was thrilled for Ondine! Despite looking so nervous, she pulled off a confident project. I would have put vellum over the windowglass and painted a black border around the frames and sat an ebony cat statue on the sill to compliment her feminine wallpaper, with maybe a black throw pillow on the couch that said CHAT in white in this font as a very little joke. (chat is French for cat)

I was so nervous for Nathan all through the judging. His bed was so bare! But his console side of the room was very sexy. The master bedroom was, as the judges said, "unfinished". I agree with Nathan's admission that the bed was all wrong. I would have hid that headboard with some textured floor pillows and dressed the bed in warm vibrant colors to echo the fiery pattern on the console, which to me, took the place of a fireplace. Indeed, I might have positioned the bed across from it (in front of the two bare windows) and used a beveled unframed miror above the low console, with the graphic in a corner by a leather club chair. And he could have hid the footboard of the bed with an old black or dark rattan trunk and a cashmere throw.. they did have 22k and beds should be luxurious. The windows should have had ledges with oxygen producing miniature evergreen topiary /\/\/\. In many cities one doesn't waste any source of natural light, even if vellum is used to disguise the view of a brick wall or billboard.
Preston did a terrific job. I wanted his room the most of the four.
Personally, he's a mystery, isn't he. A bit uptight, but deeper than his looks would suggest. I want to see if any more of his guarded personality shows through in this challenge!

I have to say - I love Ondine! You can see that she is such a great person. So happy for her being in the Final 3.
Preston, Preston, Preston...definitely a lot more than just a hot guy. Love Nathan, but Preston for the win!
P.S. It seemed like Jeff Lewis has hots for Preston (that "you definitely have a life" comment?)...Do you guys think they are dating now?

I am so happy that Eddie is out ( but not gone if the previews are any clue). Wow! that suit was something else. If he wore that thing out in the Hamptons they would laugh him right off the yacht. I was almost feeling sorry for him, how hard he was trying to convince everyone he has class and is RICH! Eddie, less is more, buddy.
I can't quite figure out Preston. He has the personality of warm gin. He is pretty cute but BRRRR! I know Nathan was a little mean this week but I love him. GO NATHAN!!

I think the fact that Preston shows zero interest in hanging out and being chummy with the girls is what really gets to them.
Eddie is such an ass and the way he puts down his competitors only tells me hes hopelessly insecure in his own talent. The green incident iced the cake for me too. especially when he took credit for Nathans carpet pad recycling idea. 'who knew i was so green?!' I wanted to smack that silly grin off of his silly face!
I love how Jeff Lewis spoke to Eddie, great to see his balloon deflated!
Im concerned about the preview we saw; does this mean that Eddie could be paired with Preston to help him in the house?! I wouldnt put sabotage past him, especially since he seems to be insanely jealous of him.

OMG! That's who he looked like in his little bow tie! I was wracking my brain to figure it out... As much as I prefer Preston's designs over Eddies, Eddie is much more entertaining to watch. Preston, while easy on the eyes, is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Eddie, however, is kind of like that one kid in the 3rd grade play wiggling around, picking his nose and poking the other kids up on stage. While you know he's being a jerk, he sure makes the show more interesting. So he's an evil Richie Rich. The Anti-Rich. In a way it will be fun next week having him there without having to worry about him moving on at the expense of another designer. (Unless he submarines Preston, like someone else on the board worried...). But despite his entertainment value, after the last two episodes he totally deserved to go. Last week he managed to take a beautiful piece of illuminated art and make it look like the advertising beer lamps you see hanging over pool tables. This week the lattice work and wallpaper made me think of Blanche's living room on "the Golden Girls". Lovely for 1980, maybe...
Guess I liked Ondine's room this week the best, but I'm a little concerned how the whole house will tie together. (That wallpaper alone would be a heck of a lot of look if spread over a larger space.) I think Preston's house may prove to be like the space designed by last year's winner, (can't remember his name.) Very Beautiful, but impersonal, like a 5 star hotel. Let's hope that Nathan can get his design legs back. If he can hit the middle ground between this week's room and last week's room I think he may have the best chance of taking it all. IMHO, anways.

It's not clear from the way the show was edited, but according to Felicia's blog, the townhouses being designed were to be the sales models, so they not only had to be interesting and exciting, but they also had to allow room for potential buyers to envision living in them with their own furnishings. This is probably a big factor in Eddie's elimination and Nathan's close call.
On another note, I live in a similar 4-story townhouse, and watching Ondine's struggle to get the desk into her room reminded me of numerous problems we had in getting our furniture up the narrow, winding stairwells. We are still repairing nicks and scrapes in the stairwell walls from furniture bumps and touching up scratches on the furniture from too-close encounters with the walls.

I did a google on Martha Stewart Living and Eddie's job title (Style Editor). It came up as a job opening listing. Hmmm. Guess Martha didn't care for the image he was giving the BRAND.
Think that Nathan was getting too catty with Edie about Preston in this last episode. Not a nice trait to show on national tv.

Thank god Eddie is gone. Gosh that 'man' is annoying. I know I won't be buying any Martha Steward anytime soon, that 'guy' has put me off on that company. What a dumb whiner. If he was really all that, wouldn't he be even bigger than martha Steward on his own? I'm pretty sure martha will be reconsidering 'his' employment, he hasn't done her company any service with his rudeness, whining and claiming to be all that.

hi everyone...newbie here to the bravo site. but i have just fallen in "love" with nathan. if it wasn't for him i prolly wouldn't even watch. i love his work (although that last bedroom was a little to tame for him). he's just the sweetest guy. he's always so happy for who won and so sad for who went home. and he's freakin funny! calling sharaz needy mcneederson (or something like that). i about peed my pants at that comment. tff. and he's sexy as hell for a gay man.
as far as preston goes, do we really need a hotel designer? every week? yes, his rooms are great. yes they are always polished to perfection. but wtf? i don't get why he needs to win if he already has a thriving business. same with ondine. she's got her own business too. and she should have gone home instead of andrea. although, andrea lasted way longer than she should have, based on skill. but, based on fairness, and the fact that she doesn't own her own business, she should've stayed. actors don't act for the oscar, they do it because it's their passion and they love it. do these people really need to have the title "top design" on their resume? seriously. if they have talent that should speak for itself. imho.
ok, i think that's all. oh, wait! one more thing. eddie. i'm glad he's not in the final. i'm really tired of hearing about his criminal boss martha. and based on the preview of the finale part 1, i'm just about positive he's going to be pared up with preston. the other 2 "helpers" i think are going to be wizit and sharaz. nathan will get sharaz, and ondine will get wizit. that's my prediction anyway.
stay tuned and see what happens! GOOD LUCK NATHAN!!!

I have to say that it has been sickening listening to Eddie all season. He has constantly bashed Preston behind his back and has been unable to take any criticism. I can't believe that Martha Stewart would allow someone like this to continue working for her company. It is obvious that he is jealous and very insecure. IMO, he has ZERO talent. I have hated his designs especially the last one. The latice on the walls was soooo tacky. People who contantly name drop and give themselves so much self love are very afraid that people will discover that they are truly nobodies. Eddie is truly a nobody. And he wouldn't dare say any of those comments to Preston's or the judges' faces. Every time Preston wins, Eddie smiles and congratulates him. Talk about two faced!!!
Preston on the other hand, is quietly confident and self assured. This shows through on each of his beautiful designs. I think it is awful how he is treated by the other designers. He isn't there to make friends, it's a competition. I hope that he wins because he deserves it the most.

ok first off anyone who likes Preston, either visits or lives in a hotel. He does nothing but hotel type rooms not HOME type rooms. He admits that he only knows hotel type designing. Personally I wouldn't want to stay in a house that you are afraid to even sit down on the furniture because you are afraid to crease it. He has not shown us anything other than that nor his personality in anything he has designed. He seems boring and hotels are boring. They work well together. To me the Top Designer should be able to show his/her own personality and different levels in the design. Preston does the same thing OVER AND OVER again.
I love Nathan!! He is just an absolute wonderful designer and has a great future ahead of him. He thinks outside the box. No 2 designs have yet been exactly the same. (unlike Preston's hotel rooms) Now I will agree that in the finale part 1 he really flopped; however, he tried to show that he can do things that are in the box. It really showed that wasn't his style and that the attempt really made him lose himself and style. I am sure the rest of the house well be back to ole Nathan since now he knows that being in the box was so not him.
Ondien (sp) I loved her design this week and I would laugh if she won because she said she would do it in the honor of Andrea. Because those two were very close and they never had a snied remark to say about each other. Unlike Eddie!!!!!!!!!!!
Eddie I love that you like to be an instigator, but all it did was make you look like a whinning brat. Glad you work for Martha; however, I agree with judges that you design for the elder generation versus the new. Best of luck to you.
