Steve is on the rebound from a series of bad breaks, but things are looking up with new gal Bailey, new clothes, new decor and a lot less clutter. What did you think of his transformation?

Great job all round as usual, but Ted!?! Stop overwhelming these poor guys with these insane recipes that demand all kinds of prep. Thom, outstanding redo of the living area. Dunno what Bailey's reservations with it were, but I'd be moving in.

Hello Zingling! Welcome to the boards! Glad to see that you like QE. I haven't seen the episode yet, but I can't wait! Only 1 hour and 30 minutes for me! (I'm on Pacific Time) Ted does do a lot, but he is just trying to help the guys. I usually think that he gives good instructions....and Thom is always a genious, I can't wait to see what he does! So, again, welcome to the boards! Post often and don't be shy!

Thanks for the invite BFOJ!
Steve made me think of that 'William' from the site CW and TDF posted about over on Carson's site. "Queer Eye for the Medieval Guy" I think it was. www.bobsawyer.com/qveer_eye/ I think Steve's haircut looked a bit medieval before Kyan had it shaped..
Jai did the impossible to organize this guy. It's not Jai's fault this guy didn't know how to treat his girlfriend. Did you see the expression on Thom's face during the scene where Steve does not bother to get off the freaking cellphone and introduce his intended to his mother?! Steve's sisters were obviously taught manners; where was he? More than manners, his sisters and brother were just beautiful in the way they interacted. And that is a credit to his mother who I only caught a glimpse of. You have to respect his brother for showing emotion in public like that when looking at the photos of his father. Steve has the decorated house, but the brother has some good stuff going on where it counts.
Carson was terrific as usual! He is the cherry on the QE sundae! The nuts on the banana split. The chocolate sauce on, well, nevermind!
With my thoughts running in this direction, it is best I leave now, before I spontaneously combust..

notevayas
PS..
I love what Thom did with the entry hall table/diningroom. Perfect for the way the house was set up and for a single guy!
Diningrooms are a problem when there is no regular use for one. A formal diningroom is often a wasted space. And all the wood looks cold.. like a museum room, when the warm and inviting place to eat is the kitchen or familyroom. I think there are many solutions to this. When possible, adding a patio door to the outside, or a picture window with a cozy windowseat solves the problem. Or opening up the room into another living space. But Thoms solution was ingenious!
I know..
That there are going to be many comments on how Ted should not have stressed out poor Steve with the special sauce for his chicken. But it did give a bit o drama to the episode!
jais_girl
I just have to get this out: DORY!!! OMG ITS DORY!!!! YAY!!

Now for my man, Jai. Did he look hot or what in his outfit! I loved it when Jai and Thom were doing the whole 'Two Gay Warriors' thing, and then Jai went down, I wanted to jump into the TV and catch him! I also loved that after Ted and Steve went to the Mexican restaurant, Jai was driving!! Yay!
Now for Carson. This is one of the few times that I actually liked what he wore! That purple shirt brought out everything about him, he worked it so well! Carson did wonderful things with Steve! From the old look to the new corporate look was a huge change that really makes a difference! Snaps to you, Carson!
Ted, Teddy! Chocolate and chicken?! Never would have thought the two went together! I also really liked the shirt that Ted was wearing, it was perfect for him!
Thom and Kyan's turn!! There wasn't really all that much during the beginning of it that I found interesting, with the exception of the 'Gay Warriors' with Jai. Don't hurt my man, Thom! I'll come for you! Grr!
After the change, HOLY GHOD!! THE INTERIOR DESIGN!! ::jaw drops to the floor:: I love the entrance table, it was really cute. I wish I had a house where I could buy that.
The reveal!! Jai's outfit, so cute! I love the whole red on white thing, I wear an outfit exactly like that! Also the little dance he did, I fell in love all over again! Kyan's hair, I wasn't too thrilled about, I thought it made him look like he was in the 80's or something (sorry Kyanites!).
Now on to Steve! He looked really good in the suit! It was a huge change that was for the better. Unfortunately, the change was only on the outside. If that is how he treated his ex-wife, I can understand why she left him! "Oh this is my mother and this is Bailey." I can't believe he didn't at least have his arm around one of them during the intro! She had the right to be angry after that so-called intro! I would have been! Be all like "You ain't gettin' nuthin tonight honey!" Now, I thought he was supposed to be cooking! I didn't think everyone else was supposed to cook for him, maybe that's just me. I also thought it was hilarious that Stella ran for the door after the neighbor brought her in, that was the cutest!

QUOTES TIME!! YAY! My favorite part of the episode!
"That bunny turned out to be a shark!" -Carson
"Chicken, chicken, chicken!" -Ted (hey! That's what my freezer looks like!)
"He's saving for wartime." -Jai
"Coffee, tea, or ugly shoes?" -Carson
"AAAAAHHHH! Living room. AAAAAAHHHH!" -Thom
"She was an evil, evil bunny!" -Carson
"This seems strangely familiar." -Carson (washing the dog's tail)
"Wait, let me get out of these tight clothes!" -Thom
"Minnesota, yea." -Steve (they don't actually talk like that!)
"You're probably not going to like how I do it." -Steve (at least he's honest! and I didn't like how he did it, but that's just me)
"This is good though! Who cares about the health code?" -Carson

Okay! That's my review of it! Wow, that was long! BTW, the quotes color, is called mocha!! Weird!

It's about mother truckin' time we got a new episode! While I applaud the dedication of diehard fans like BFOG, JG, DesignDaddy, TDF, those from Carson's site and several others - having too much time between new shows makes some of us bored. Instead of "Absence makes the heart grow fonder", it becomes "Out of sight, out of mind". Well, it was until Sat. when I got my copy of Beautified, and now tonight's show.
I wonder if that camel shirt that Kyan wore was silk. (Mmm, silk! Ky and I could lie down together on silk sheets! ) I wish he had worn it tucked in, but at least it provided a nice peek at his manscaped chest hair.
It was funny when he held the nasal spray and said, "Carson, bend over."
I'm not sure whether my TV's color settings are correct, but was Ky's shirt in the reveal a pale pink? I don't think the epaulets on them work for him. The trousers were a shiny material, but I'm not sure if it was leather. I wish I'd paid more attention when he stood up.
My favorite part of the show was Ky's Hip Tip. It wasn't overtly sexy or showing any skin, but somehow stirred a fantasy in me. Who knew that subtlety could do that for me? But there he was...in a suit...at a desk...and I totally imagined him working with me and us having a torrid office affair...under the stairs!

I had never seen Jai with a beard before, but I prefer him shaved. At least he shaved for the reveal.
He looked so precious holding little Nemo, "Now this is what a clean dog smells like."
The Container Store isn't cheap, but I could stand to go there.
Jai got the SG a new computer, but I think De could use one worse. I miss her.

The dog slobbered all over Carson, and it looked frothy.
I laughed out loud when Carson said, "Who wants to take a bath with Daddy? --If I had a nickel for every time I heard that!"
I thought that Calvin Klein was an apt choice for the SG. I liked the tip about not creasing lapels. I really could stand to put my neglected clothing into the bins: "dump", "donate" and "fix" - but not "archive". I'm afraid that the archiving is what's given me all my closet clutter in the first place.

I wasn't aware that so many ingredients went into mole`. I've only tried the dark variety and I didn't much care for it. I didn't know that there were other varieties of it.
The sangria cocktails looked "duh-lish-us!"

Thom did great work, as usual. A nice ambience was created in the living room.
I like the way the boys sent the dog away for the SG's transformation.
The SG looked good for his age. Not to slight Kyan's work though, but I kind of preferred the "before" hair. YMMV (your mileage may vary).
During the reveal, Carson's and Jai's outfits were fierce!
It sucked that the SG made his GF help cook. Ky and I felt for her, and I think she appeared a bit drunk at the very end of the reveal. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I wonder whether he resented these women in the interviews having him change. He seemed super cooperative with the F5, but I wonder if he was being passive-aggressive in expecting the GF to do so much of the work. Then again, maybe he could have just been dense. I thought I was socially awkward, but the GF had to ask him to introduce her, then as he goes through the motions - or the words, rather - he's dialing on the phone. Tsk.

I'm sorry, but didn't he say Dory? I thought I heard Dory. I thought it was Nemo and was like "Look! Its Nemo!" and then he's all like "Dory's going to help us shop" and I go "Oh! Its Dory!!"

Oh dear! You can see them both if you go to Photos at the top of this page, click on Jai, and I believe its the first picture in the gallery. The preview is the face of a dog and I believe that Nemo is on the right and Dory is on the left (I just have to say that did Jai see Finding Nemo and then get the dogs? Or is it just a coincidence that the dogs have the same name as the fish?)
And yes, I just saw the episode again, Kyan's shirt is pale pink.

I'll have to check my tape tonight & let you know. I do recall it being a pale pastel. And, personally, I don't think that epaulets work on anybody that's not in a uniform.

Ah yes. He looks mighty fine in a suit. (As do most men, IMO.)

Quote:

OH, me too! I have some vacation time coming up and I've vowed to lock myself in the house and de-clutter it! (We'll see how THAT works out!)

Quote:

I really could stand to put my neglected clothing into the bins: "dump", "donate" and "fix" - but not "archive". I'm afraid that the archiving is what's given me all my closet clutter in the first place.

Yeah, me too. Hey, some day I may lose those pesky 10 pounds and actually fit into the stuff I used to wear, which is stuffed away in a container in the closet. LOL! I LOVED Steve's leather jacket though!! I'd display that somehow, instead of archiving it!

Quote:

I wasn't aware that so many ingredients went into mole`. I've only tried the dark variety and I didn't much care for it. I didn't know that there were other varieties of it.

I've never heard of the stuff. Looked good though, but there was way too much work involved & perhaps Ted should have chosen something else. Still, it sounded like Steve was an accomplished cook, so I'm guessing that with more prep time (or perhaps a better management of the time he had), he could have done it better.

Quote:

Thom did great work, as usual. A nice ambience was created in the living room.

Loved the N'orleans style! Kyan (who lived there for about 5 years while in college, so he would know) gave his stamp of approval! LOVED the set-up of that house though!!

Quote:

The SG looked good for his age. Not to slight Kyan's work though, but I kind of preferred the "before" hair. YMMV (your mileage may vary).

I liked the after-look much better. I like longer hair on men, as long as it's kept well. (Same with women!) Before, it was just too stringy & messy before.

Quote:

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I wonder whether he resented these women in the interviews having him change.

Who was it that sent in the application? Did he, or his sisters?

Fun episode, I'll have to watch it again to give more comments. Welcome back, fellas, we've missed ya!
luvisthom
Right now all I have time to say about last night's NEW episode is first...YAY, YIPEE, WAHOO, a new episode....and second, when Thom says to Steve, who is lying on the couch... "Here, let me get out of my tight clothes".........AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

(I respond more later, after I'm through fanning myself.....)
raindog
Well, I'm looking forward to watching this again tonight, since I was so distracted by the elections that I kept worrying instead of paying attention, but it sure was good to see a new episode. Distracted and distraught or not.

Quote:

The dog slobbered all over Carson, and it looked frothy.

I thought so too - like, is that dog RABID??? Ick. She did seem like a very sweet dog, though. My love-of-my-life cat's name is Stella, which is kind of odd. My Stella doesn't smell bad, though. In fact, she smells really nice.

Quote:

Me too. My problem is that I archive EVERYTHING. And by "archive" I mean shove into the closet in a very lunatic-like way.
tomasulo
Grrrrrrr! The scene with Steve and the cellphone made me think the bunny ex-wife probably has her own side to the story. If he couldn't properly handle introducing his family to his girlfriend, methinks there were probably quite a few things that he did that made the best friend and the exit start looking pretty good. There's always two sides to these sad divorce stories. I don't mind that Ted challenges the SG's. It makes it a lot of fun for the viewers and also gives another insight into the SG and how they handle it....usually doing the quick hand-off to the first woman they see. (Once again....grrrrrr!) In Steve's defense though, he didn't pretend that he thought it was going to be easy. It was really sweet of Bailey and his family to step up and help. Good job, Bailey. (Steve, wise up. Bailey looks like a keeper and well worth you taking the time to figure out how to acknowledge and respect her. I'm routing for you.) Thom and Jai fighting....well, let me quote Paris and Nicole: "That's hot!" I love that the guys gave special attention to Stella. (I think the frothy slobber may have been from excitement or from a doggie treat she may have been given to keep her motivated for her scene.) I'm a major dog lover (like Thom) so I was thrilled that he incorporated Stella into the decor by suggesting slip-covers so she could be on the furniture. Another reason why I'm crazy about that man!

A NEW SHOW A NEW SHOW A NEW SHOW A NEW SHOW A NEW SHOW...!!!

*bounces from floor to ceiling to wall to ceiling to floor to wall to floor to ceiling then out glass window*

*climbs back in window brushing off glass*
I'm ok.

Ok, from the sounds of it, this boy had it rough! His wife called out his best friend's name in the middle of intimacy? NOT a good sign of what's going on! Him concentrating on the cell phone instead of proper introductions between his girlfriend and his family did NOT play good. But in the other segments of the show they were very affectionate towards each other; his hand around her as she helped cook, sponataneous kisses, etc...all showed that while his manners may need work in some areas, they seem very loving towards each other - put a smile on my face and an "Awwww" on my lips.

The sauce fiasco...hmmm...it turned out to be a good thing because it got everyone - family, girlfriend, and SG - intermingling with each othe to help Steve out. It upped the social communication. Clever - I bet that was Ted's plan all along!

The oufit I liked best on Steve was the second one they showed him trying on in the store - lordy that one was HOT!

Jai looked really good in this epi! He had a 5 o' shadow going on and his clothes fit him nice enough to see where he's filled out quite well - he looked very grown up!

Thom...

*FAINT!*

Ok, let me try that again...Thom...

*FAINT!*

*gets back up wearing oxygen mask*

Thom - LOVED the black pants, short-sleeve shirt, and sandals look! I swear, that man is behind the mystery of spontaneous human combustion! And that living room!

*FAINT!*

*comes back up on lung machine*

OMG! I was like "where's the other room? Oh, that IS the other room! HOLY CRAPAZOID!" When the girlfriend looked at that room and didn't seem very crazy about it I was like, "You couldn't GET me out of that room!" And that entryway table? GENIUS!! I so wanted Thom...uh...er...I mean that table.

Favorite part? Like most, the gay warriors and Thom saying "let me slip out of these tight clothes"...

*FAINT!*

*raises finger to the air*

You can bury me now.

Recently, I've changed the way I feel about this.

BEFORE, I used to feel that Bravo was bad for not showing us what we saw in the previews. NOW, I'm thinking that in these preview clips we're seeing MORE of what went on than what shows up in the final episode. Think of it as an extra scene!

Hi, TTB! I get so happy when I see you've posted! There was a "Thom moment" that I really loved but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to explain it. Oh well, here goes. During the reveal, there's a moment when Bailey laughs but it's kind of an insincere (I'm-a-good-sport-but-we-need-to-discuss-this-when-we're-alone) kind of laugh. Thom picked up on it immediately and commented on it. He even imitates that kind of "we'll talk later" scenario perfectly. Thom is so perceptive....I'm constantly amazed by this man. (Would someone please revive TTB? I don't want to have to step over her all day!)

Ok, first off - I MISS THOSE BOYS! It was so great to catch a new episode. And even better, catching the Sean episode before it (I'd only seen that episode once - it was nice to see it again!)

But anyway - that drink recipe that Ted used with the fruit, TripleSec (?), wine and something else ? WHAT WAS THAT? Unfortunately I didnt tape the episode <GASP> so can someone fill me in on the ingredients please? I think I'll need to make one of them next time I've got guests over.

I appreciate it!

While I'm thinking about it, wouldn't TTB and De be like Kanga? She's like a mother to all of the Hundred Acre wood and they are like mothers to all of us.
I would say that Thom's Wives would be most like Pooh, they're so nice and cuddly.
Umm, the Teddy Grahams would be like Piglet. 'Crumbling' at the first sign of trouble (I didn't want to start that again, but I couldn't think of anything).
The CITs would be like Owl, always making us think.
Kyanites would be like Christopher Robin, always happy to see everyone.
And naturally, the Angels are like Tigger. Always bouncing everywhere making y'all feel tired and old.
The BBB, however, is in a spot by themselves. I would call them the Narrators. Letting us know when we do something wrong.

This also fits in perfectly with the plot of A Tigger Movie, Tigger goes in search of his family and all along, its been right here, waiting for him. I love you guys!

Nicole

What, what? Have I missed your first post? I haven't seen you before. Well, anyways...
Welcome to the boards! In case you couldn't tell by my name, I'm one of the Angels. Who's your favorite member of the Fab5?
Sean stops in on his thread every once in a while so if you have any questions for him, he's there!
I don't know what was in the wine, since I'm underage I haven't been really paying attention to that part but I'm sure someone else knows and has already made it.

I THINK that was a Sangria, although, as previously noted, I was so distracted by worrying about the election that I wasn't my usual riveted-to-the-screen self. It sounded like Sangria. It sounded awfully good. I do recall thinking that I could really use a glass or three of that.

Still distracted, I didn't finish my post before posting. There's no recipe up for it, I'm sorry to say, but I'll try to remember to make some notes when I watch it again. It sounded fantastic and I'd like to try it myself.

However, the recipe for the ten-thousand-ingredient mole is up, if anyone is feeling like living dangerously!

raindog: I certainly could use a drink after that election....to wash down my tranquilizers! 11 out of 11 states voted to ban gay marriages!?!?!? I just don't understand. Apparently we're happy with war, but if two people love each other....that's a crime. Stop bogarting that pitcher of Sangria, raindog!

You know - each boy's got a special place in my heart <sigh> but I've got to give my "Fav Fab5" label to Ted. His corny sense of humor just cracks me up!

About that, the way I see it, people are coming here each day to get away from some form of persecution and oppression. They come here to start a new life, preferably one for the better.
I hope the Supreme Court sees these bans as unconstitutional as the government can only intrude into the constituent's life so far before it becomes dictatorship. The government is trying to dictate what goes on in our lives by telling us who we can love and who we can marry.
Soon, we're not going to be known as "The Land of the Free," we're going to be known as "The Land of the Restricted."
I know that I'm just one voice that probably won't make a difference. I mean, who's going to listen to a 19 year old girl on an issue like this?
I'm sorry, this is an emotinally charged subject for me, I think I'm just going to go now.

A Teddy Graham!! Yay! We don't have too many of you, always glad to have another! I have to say that I loved the shirts he wore in Sean's and Steve's episodes. He looked really good in those colors. Few people can make food fun, other than infants, and he can. Snaps to you Ted!

Oh don't worry about me stopping speaking out! Like Notey, I don't think I can help it. That was just how far I could go without getting really angry at those people who voted to ban gay marriage. What I don't get is that in an article I read the other day, printed in 2003, people were getting more used to the idea of having married couples who were gay. In the article it said that the country was split 50/50 on the idea, whereas the month before there was a poll that said the country was 48/52 in favor of banning it. Are all those people who are 'split' in other states or did they just not vote? The other day I was thinking that I could be a good politician, maybe I should do political science as my minor instead of communication?
I could go into the reasons why this is an emotionally charged subject, but you all don't need to know about that stuff.

JG
maybe we should continue this on the general thread so we don't make Steve's cluttered with people yelling in support or against the ban?

Here, I'm virtually passing you over half my ENORMOUS pitcher of Sangria! Isn't this just the most insane and thoroughly depressing thing you've ever seen in your LIFE???? I'm guessing that now there will be a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, and civil unions will be down the drain as well. Along with anything else the "moral" rightwingers object to.

Oh, you're so right, JG. It's pretty much a certainty now that we will end up with extremely conservative right-wing judges on the Supreme Court, and it's going to change the entire face of this country. I'm afraid the conservative, evangelical christians have finally managed to take over.

I'm so tired, sick and tired, of living in a state (Oklahoma) where 75% of the people are stupid, ignorant and uninformed.

Oklahoma was one of those 11 states that banned gay marriages (75% voted for the ban). But we went a step further. We also banned common law marriages, even those between a man and a woman. By doing that, one of the side "benefits" is now couple who had a common law marriage can no longer be on each other's health insurance. Even those who have been "married" for 20 years and raised children.

Soooooo, I'm on the way to work this morning, listening to a local radio station. The DJs are talking about the ban and what it did to common law marriages. Suddenly all these stupid, ignorant uninformed people are calling in moaning about what their going to do now. "I wouldn't have voted for it if I'd know that!" Well, people, you reap what you shall sow.

I'm so depressed. I've got to get out of this place. How expensive is it to live in Massachusetts?

Hello and welcome back everyone who has been away!

I'm typing this AFTER the election so will post somewhere else my thoughts.

Now on to last night's episode:
My first thought too Isa was where is the Kyan Sundae?! Bravo loves to tease us-remember the one also with Kyan with Al D. when they showed him about to kiss the shark and that wasn't on too? So I've been taping the commercials now too just to be safe!
Okay, my man Kyan is first up. I did like the haircut they did for the SG and Kyan's comment about liking longer hair cuz it's sexy-does that apply to women too Kyan? And I enjoyed him just sitting there in those tan pants! I did laugh when he did the nasal spray with Carson. And what a team washing Stella in the bathtub-Stella was getting BEAUTIFIED!
I did like Jai with his 5 o'clock shadow! Made him look more mature and sexier at least to me. Wonder what the other Angels think?
Carson at Calvin Klein-great outfit picks for the SG. However, I have a question here. I was wondering why they don't do the fashion show with the guys on the bed anymore.
I MISS IT!
Thom great job decorating! You had the New Orleans look down pat! It looked to me seeing Kyan's approval that he felt like he was back in the "Big Easy" again!
Ted had some recipe for the SG! Though it was alot of work he had some help along the way-Bailey, relatives, etc.
Of course Kyan saying at the end that Steve could of helped Bailey better made me sigh. If you go back to the last new episode of John W. he was not pleased with John making Corrine do all the work too. My Knight In Shining Armor-if only I could find a SG like my Kyan who cares about the women like he does!
And like MGK (so glad to see you back!)in the tips at the end when I saw Kyan in the suit and tie with the office setting my mind was wandering Hmmm...he could be my boss and call me into his office...
And last but not least Thanks Ted for saying "Minnesota"-people not from here seem to think we say it that way I don't know though I'm Scandinavian-Oh, I think I feel a ABBA song coming on...
Again, so great to see a new episode again-can't wait till the Thanksgiving episode!

Well Angels? What did we think? Personally, I like the clean shaven look, but if Jai would just put on a cowboy outfit, EEEEEE!!!!!! Then the shadow look would be perfect!

You naughty Kyanites!! Now I have a question for you Kyanites, what did you think of Kyan's hair in the loft?

Yes, we are a naughty bunch, just can't be helped!
About Kyan's hair in the loft last night, made him look more "little boy" to me. So Kyansutra says "Come here little boy...(Slaps her hand then saying naughty girl, leave that man alone!) In his book I like both ways he has his hair styled, combed down and slicked back-though the former would be nicer to run your hands thru.

I'm afraid it's not just Oklahoma where everyone is ignorant and uninformed. I was just reading about a recent poll where 75% of the respondents STILL believe that Iraq has WMDs and was behind 9/11. I think one of the biggest problems in this country is that people don't pay a bit of attention to what's going on. If they did, this election wouldn't have even been close.
