As for taking things too seriously, perhaps I am at a point in my life where I don't find violence of any kind to be funny. Maybe that does make me emotionally immature. But I seem to recall laughing more at things like people falling down stairs and being kicked in the groin when I was younger.

wow, everybody seems to be so worked up over Wendy! I think that is exactly what the producers were going for with her though. I seriously think that most of the things Wendy says or does are scripted to give the show a little more drama. I mean, think about it... if she were *really* that cunning and manipulative, would she be that open about it when she knows that there are millions of potential clients watching her on national television? I doubt it. I have a hard time buying it. Shes too stereotype disney cartoon villian to be serious. After the show she'll probably invite the whole cast over for tea and crumpets and everyone will have a big group hug and a good laugh!

Whether the discussion was "pseudo-intellectualism" is a matter Wendy's opinion and is hardly the truth. Her opinion does not equal the truth.
It was truth to her, and she calls it like she sees it. They were tossing around terms they heard in Culture Studies 101 obviously trying to impress each other and Wendy was the only one to say the emperor has no clothes and point out the hilariousness of it.
Quote:
It's backstabbing when you blatantly lie to someone's face that "everything's cool" as Wendy did after he (Kevin) asked you 3-4 times whether you had any problems with the collection and then turn around and tell the judges the "truth" that Kevin was not a good leader. If Wendy let Kevin know ahead of time, then it would *not* be backstabbing.
She did not say "everything's cool", she said "didn't you know I'm cool", and it was in response to saying she has a cell phone or something; they were talking about technology and she was letting him know that she is technologically hip for an older person. You took it completely out of context. Perhaps you should watch your taped episode yet again?
My reaction to the runway discussion was that the others betrayed Wendy by chickening out when it was their turn to speak after Wendy had already put herself out on a limb by telling the judges what they all knew to be true - that Kevin was a weak leader. None of those people owe anything to each other and it didn't strike me as unusual when she spoke candidly when asked about Kevin's leadership or lack thereof.

I agree with the last post. Wendy clearly is ambitious (some might choose other words), but I also think the editing is making it look worse. She discussed her concerns with Tim and everyone else was concerned as well.

Point 1: I'm glad Wendy didn't get eliminated! Her uniform seemed like more of an altered version of their current uniform rather than an entirely new creation, but it seemed like something which would actually be embraced in the "real world".
Point 2: Rob should have been naked in more episodes. He definitely made my night! :0

So much for my "Banner" Pattern. I predicted Jay from the pattern, and Robert got the boot. I'm glad, though. Now I don't care who wins! Kara's awesome, Austin's fun, Jay's both, and Wendy... well, I just wanna see her win for the reaction it would cause (though I believe it is VERY unlikely).
ROFLMAO at Austin for modeling Jay's uniform! That was the BEST MOMENT of the series!
Anyway, I looked at the preview for the next episode on the site, and paused it at the point where the designs are shown briefly. Here's my take:
Austin: He's going to fashion week! That dress he made was GORGEOUS! And this is coming from a guy with little fashion sense!
Jay: Nowhere near Austin's, but still cool. It has a sort of cranberry juice color to it that I like. The shape is a little wierd, though.
Kara: Uh oh. Blah color with a strange bunching by the legs. This could be trouble.
Wendy: Small, orange, and frilly. Make of that what you will.
PREDICTION: Can't say, but Austin is SOOOOO safe!

Where to begin about The post Office Episode!
Robert - Was very sorry to see him go. He wouldn't have made the top three, but he was worthy of one more week. Personally, i liked the casual top of his uniform, and I thought it loked finished, if not overly detailed. And at least we got a naked shot of him before he left!
Austin - Wasn't too crazy about the capri pants as part of the uniform, but I liked the poncho concept (A carryover from last week's aborted "pod"?. I thought the uniform was fun, which may have been it's problem. however, I know next week, designing a Grammy's gown, he'll get the chance to really shine. Oh, and as an aside, I think some of the models should worry about him. His runway walk was fierce!
Jay - If he ever gives up designing, he could easilly get his own show. He was absolutely hysterical during the mail route, and I love how the postal carrier seemed like she just wanted to smack him from time to time. Great Postal Uniform. And tonight,we have another signature Jay McConnell quote, perhaps better than the dye comment about Kevin:
To Wendy, after the show; "You're like a cockroach!" LOL
Wendy - She has more lives than the cat that coughed up her outfit from last week! I think we can all agree that her one week reprieve is for one more week of her drama. I also think it's obvious that she now knows that she's an island now and that her friendships are gone.
Kara - What can we say? She's incredible. Another design that's stylish, appropriate, and well thought out. I love Jay and Austin, but they should just cut her the check for $100K right now.....
By the way, can we all agree that the "technical support" in next week's challange is the return of the eliminated designers?

Yes we can. So the question is who picks whom? Start placing your bets! And while you're at it, let's bet on whom the producers will select to choose first. Goodness knows, they engineered the little teams tonight.

I want to extend my personal thanks to the producers for letting us see Robert run around naked. NOW I know why he was still there.
It makes my gut bounce like a Superball to think that Wendy could possibly be one of the final three. The preview sure makes it seem like one of the favorites is going to be out of there. Unthinkable. I also appreciated Wendy's model trying to save her ass, with that "I can feel the breeze up my shorts." Too funny. Also, when Tim tells you that your design is too frumpy, do you really change only the shoes? Yikes.
I'm not really into hating on Wendy (so sophomoric!) but she isn't doing herself any favors, editing or not.

I was laughing through the whole episode too because of Jay. Especially when he was playing the role of the small-town postal carrier.
I also think that the helpers coming in next week will be the returned cast members. Didn't someone predict something like this under another thread? I think someone also recently mentioned that Austin should model. Weird message board ESP.
Who do you think drew on Wendy's photo? I fear that that may be another machination on the part of the producers. I just don't see any of the other designers doing something like that.

"You're like a cockroach! Like a cockroach!"
You said it, Jay! GOOD GRIEF!! Where is that house? It was supposed to drop episodes ago! (dibs on the ruby slippers)
Loved Austin's and Jay's outfits. Thought they were both stylish and comfortable but was sure Jay's would win until the "female would look too butch" comment...then I knew Kara won again. Robert's was very casual and I knew it would have him in the bottom for elimination but I kept hoping it wouldn't be him. He was very likeable and preferred MUCH more than Wendy!
Btw, WENDY TAKE NOTE!! What Austin did for Jay was an example of how you treat your fellow man/designer! It was something he didn't have to do and Jay could have been eliminated. Totally sinks the earlier assumptions by some that Austin was "eliminating the stronger competition". Jay is as strong as they come and Austin went to bat for him...and with style! The 3 of us screamed and applauded when he said he would do it and when he walked down that stage - he was so FINE! I replayed it again and again! You show 'em boy!...another falsehood cast aside
And the "oh boo hoo, someone wrote on my daughter's picture" moment...OH PUH-LEEEASE!! Like you're going to leave your daughter's picture just lying out on a bare desk all day! If any parent has a picture and it's THAT dear to them, then they keep it with them wherever they go!
You set it up! You know it! And YOU marked the picture to gain sympathy from those you alienated! Double prints are a dime a dozen and negatives always come with them. You couldn't make a sensible person fall for that load of bs if you coated it with chocolate.
Now in previews they are saying there's an unexpected elimination! Bravo, you've got one more chance to redeem any sort of credibility.

I can't believe Wendy is still in!!!! At least Robert has a nice butt(as we saw tonight-thank you producers)! Wendy is scheming and nasty. She should have been thrown out the first week with her "candy costume". Jay was right when he called her a cockroach. You won't see anyone bailing her out by modeling her outfit when her model doesn't show up. That was nice of Austin to do that because Jay is one of his best competitors and he could have easily eliminated him. That was classy Austin. Next week should be right up Austin's taste. Although the judges comments didn't seem too nice. The judges have to remember the designers don't have the time, supplies and their own work areas to create these designs. Love all the comments you all write. Good luck to the designers next week. If Wendy gets to design week the is no Fashion God.
Peace.

I was sooopissed off when that two faced old toolbag Wendy smirked when they were talking about Robert's designs...Overall, she sucks as a designer. I wasn't really impressed with her winning dress either. A bit of a mish mosh of a skater's skirt round the neck and a boring strapless dress. I think she sabotaged her OWN picture, because after her whole crying fit; she all too quickly composed herself. And WHO TAUGHT HER TO DO HER MAKEUP??? Bozo the Clown????????????

Fir the most part I agree, I would like to say I do not like Wendy’s designs—from a design stand-point for the most part. After seeing tonight’s episode, all I have to say is (granted I’ve ignored the most part of post dealing with her “fitness” as a mother b/c no one here has the ability to crit her and those who do I do pity you b/c you all have no clue as to life)… crit her designs BUT NOTHING ELSE..it is a Podunk show and no one knows what type of mother she is…..
Beyond everything, I thought tonight’s show was the best so far, but I was far more unimpressed with Karasaun tonight…her reaction to Wendy bringing "in", makes me wonder if she was the one who drew the line (I hope I am wrong— but it show to me how fake she MAY actually be)

Hey, Dumb - I don't think Kara is fake at all. I think she of anyone really tried to be friendly to Wendy, remember her fixing her hair and makeup to try to help her with the judges perception of her before the BR challenge. (The one and only time she looked SLIGHTLY presentable). I think she is fed up with Wendy's antics and has no time for it. Read her profile and she'll tell you that she cannot lie. I think she is repulsed by all of the manipulations Wendy pulls to cover up her poor preformance. Kara is simply not going to deal with her at all anymore if she doesn't have to ..... I say VERY SMART, Kara Saun!!
PU-LEEEZ! Kara drawing the line - of course the producers, assistants or Wendy herself drew the line! It is a tv show and they will do anything for the drama and outcome it will create. Also, how would the other four know to hang out at the window and happen to see Wendy ranting and raving to herself on the street below? I think a producer probably pointed it out. They are doing a damn good job and I think they owe Wendy $100,000 regardless for all the viewers she's brought in - even if most of us HATE her coniving butt!!
And about Butts - so happy to see Robert's! What a doll - I shall not forget that mental image for a long time, nor will I forget Austin on the runway - PRICELESS! What a great guy and Jay should be a serious stand up comedian or red carpet commentator/writer. The man is hysterical. BTW - if anyone but Wendy is eliminated next week - I will be HYSTERICAL!!!
Go Jay, Kara and Austin......... and Wendy, just GO HOME!

Well, it is becoming ever more clear that this show is not on the up and up. Too bad. So Wendy is, maybe, an actor, either a good one who is playing the part the way she is supposed to, or a bad one is having trouble carrying it off. Either way, who cares? She can sew, but if she's a plant, then both the challenges and her designs have been provided ahead of time. So really, who designed the BR dress? Is she a designer who already works for BR? Should we drive down to Leesberg?
Was Jay always funny, or only recently? I think they left out his funny comments earlier, in favor of showing his most annoying qualities.
Kevin fortuitously picked as team leader? Ha! pre-planned. Well, at least we get to see KS lead a team next week.
The models are rigged! Does anyone out there believe that Julia simply couldn't make it? Set-up! And I think that the producers made a crack at this in the first episode with Morgan. Everything about her screams scripted. I think that they were trying to see whether designers would turn to other designers to help out as models.
This just sucks all of the fun out of the show. I know it's been a done deal for a long time already, but I hope we get to see some authentic design work at the end. And if they don't get real, they've lost me for a second season. That's good, I guess. There are better things to do than watch tv and post messages.
Responding to all who expressed gratitude for Robert's nudity: they probably have nude shots of him from every episode, and waited till he was taken off to show it. But it seems to be a win-win situation all around.

Ok, I think Wendy will not be standing in the top three (If she is, what were they thinking?). I really like Kara, Jay, and Austin. I don't think Wendy could handle the pressure of being a designer in the real world. Obviously, if everyone is having problems with her then who would want to work with her in the future? I think Austin could make great costumes for the theatre and film. I also think Austin, Jay, and Kara have there own way of designing and you can tell. Wendy's mailwoman just looked like the regular suit that is worn now. Maybe some of you will disagree but I think Kara will win. Don't get me wrong I think Jay and Austin are very talented and will make it on their own after this show. Kara has won several projects and when she does she wins by getting the concept of the outfit to work in a creative way. Look at her mailwoman and future girl..each are versatile. But the only thing I really want to say...please don't make Wendy one of the top three. I am sure in life she is nice but seeing her in the show...no!

Maybe the judges make Wendy look worse, but I doubt Jay is making up how he feels in calling her a "cockroach." If her image is being manipulated, the other designers know the truth and none of them really like her. Even Kara is cold to her. Did you notice when Kara won that she shared a "congrats" hug or smooch with everyone BUT Wendy. Is that just editing? I doubt it, since Jay was making his comments about Wendy while Kara was present. If they were still friendly, he would have not said anything.

I so love this show! My 11 yr old daughter and I watch it weekly and needless to say we were both disapointed to see that Wendy was still here*sighs*
My thought now is that Wendy is a plant to keep the angst up (or keep our bile up) and I would *love* to see Austin,Jay,Kara and Kevin come up with their own design house...I am a 46 pleasingly plump mama and I *know* they would design something that would fit and flatter me and still let my flamboyant side come through as they would be able to do for anyone else..regardless of age or gender or size! I do agree that we will be seeing Kevin's designs and I am so hoping that the final three will be Austin,Jay and Kara...beyond that I do not think I could choose..and Austin? kudos to you for helping Jay out...you sooooooo rocked as a model too and Jay, I didn't think your outfit looked butch at all..just androgynous which I didn't think was a bad thing at all and ok..ok..so I adored watching That Girl and I loved the cape Austin! Wait, I've got it. He said that every woman he knows cuts the pockets out of clothes to look less hippy. Are you kidding me? I'm twice as hippy as the average person, but I beg for pockets. Women's clothing has traditionally been quite pocket-deficient, and everyone I (that's a capital I) know wishes for more pockets. It's one of the biggest selling points an article of clothing has going for it! Real people, Michael. Meet some who are outside your fashion circle.

There is no longer any doubt possible that Wendy is a plant. They had better reveal this during the show, or else it really, really takes down the level and integrity of this show. I just browsed over Wendy's Q & A bit, and saw that she states Valentineo, Chanel, Dior, and Yves Saint Laurent as her design influences...huh??? And she states that she reads all of these fashion mags as well. But looking at her private designs, which look like badly coordinated table cloths sewn into a dress, I find that a stretch! I think she is influenced more by the Sears "Huskie" line and the old Zayre and Venture designers....sorry, but she just infuriates me so!

So right about Austin. And he was so cute in the outfit. He did work it. That musta been heart attack city for Jay; I'm glad they made it work. Even if Wendy had a figure for modelling, I can't see she'd do something like that for anyone, whereas I could see Alexandra or even Starr willing to help a competitor. It's a "do unto others" thing. You win or lose on designs, not machinations. Hear that, Bravo?

It never occured to me that Wendy could be a plant. Very possible. If that's the case, I can't say it would bother me a whole lot, especially if Jay, Austin & Kara are top three, which they deserve to be. I also agree the drawing on the photo was a set up.
I was thrilled about this moment to -- certainly helps clear up Austin's good name!

I got TiVo, too. I'll have to check my listings and look into a rescreening to tape that part. I think I'd rather have an "appointment" with Rob for the time, not for the design. And not for him to tell me what car I resemble, either...lol.
