some spoiler space:

I looked at the photos on CNN and then Gettyimages. I just wish they'd picked a different outfit of Kara Saun's to show on Cnn then that brown/pink thing. She had must better designs in the show.

I liked pretty much all the collections. But I was a little disappointed by Austin's outfits -- the dresses were wonderful (especially the blue one), but to me at least, all his stuff seemed created for a period piece than a modern runway show.

here's something for the austinites, found it on a blog:

""Last night, a commenter on my original entry had this to say about Austin—
"I went to school with him. I graduated in 1998 with his sister, Jesslyn. I'm 24...he's two years older than us. I'd like to know why he says he's 23. I was in the 6th grade when he was an 8th grader. He's always been into designing. I'm pretty sure he was the costume designer for all our school productions. I felt so bad for him. I remember in '96 when he was graduating, everyone thought it would be funny to vote him for prom king. I think he won it, but there was a rumor going around school that he was going to show up in a dress he designed. He didn't. His date showed up in a dress he designed for her."

You see, Austin is both a lady and a gentleman. Now that's class!"""

Omg, he's so amazing!! I wish I could give him a big ol' hug right now! They thought they would fool the fool and ended up the fools themselves...even more so because he's gone on to better things! (and groupies!)

As to the other one, I now see what you mean!

All four have links within the page, but on the left side where the "celebrities" are listed, one name is absent. And one name is only given in part...which is still bugging me.

OMG WHERE'S [self edited]????!!!

OK - - who is being honest about Wendy's designs.

She annoys the hell out of me - - - but looking at her designs without anti-emotional bias - - - I find some of them quite interesting.

. . . and from the photos - - I did not care for Austin's designs on a personal level.

BUT - - in person - considering construction - presentation - etc - that professionals look for - Austin's creations might be far superior to Wendy's.

BUT - - I still think Wendy fits BR better then Austin - - so as I stated in an earlier post - - I expected Austin to be eliminated and Wendy to be in the top 3.

I'm being honest. I hate her actions but that's no reason to lie about her clothes. I thought the wedding dress she made was beautiful - loved it...still can't stand the woman! Her other outfits? Sucked! Even her BR dress - seen it before. Look at Jackie O's pics from history. It wasn't new and if that is the kind of overpriced fashion BR likes to sell, then I'm glad I can't afford to shop there!

There's a sliver of hope but I hope Austin stays in and she's eliminated.

My favorite on the show is Wendy.

My favorite designers are Kenneth Cole, D & G, and Versace.

What exactly is new anymore?

Plus, does anyone know if there is a BR in Michigan or Ohio? I went to one when I was in Florida and fell in love with it!

Personally I find BR disgusting and offensive.

"Banana republic (or Bananaland) is a pejorative term for describing a country with a non-democratic or unstable government, especially where there is widespread political corruption and strong foreign influence. It is most often applied to small countries in Central America or the Caribbean."

Went to wireimage.com - they list only 3 of the designers by name; then i went to cnn.com - they show only 3 designer's clothes - but they're not the same 3. is this a ruse by bravo to hide the outcome????

Thanks for the link - just went there. WHERE THE HELL IS KARA's link? I couldn't find it anywhere, please advise how you found it since her name is not listed under the celebrity list.
BTW - There is hope for a future for Wendy (though I wish it weren't true) .... if Boy George can design, I guess maybe Wendy and Edward Scissorhands might have a market as well. Sad, but true.

I had noticed that, but thought I must be missing something. I'm glad you mentioned it.

Incidentally, the post office they used in their challenge is two buildings down from my office and they showed my building at one point. It was very thrilling!

It's the sidebar on the right, titled "RELATED". Julia's face (in pink headphones) is the link. It will show only three designers' work, then list them in the caption as finalists.

I hope that helps, luv.

here, here! i'm glad i'm not the only one who has realized this show either always was, or has become a complete scam on the viewing public. pr is not about "finding the next best designer" -if it ever was- but is nothing more than a reality show soap opera. as a viewer, i feel cheated and manipulated; and i feel sorry for the truly deserving designers who lost their chance to succeed in order to make "good television" (ha!). and you can bet i'll never buy the sponsors' products in order to keep proliferating this sham of a show. boycott, hell-just change the channel.

I am sick at the thought of tuning in one more night hoping and praying to see Wendy sent packing only to see her smug (and very UG) ass remain. I only have one thing to say - SCREW YOU, BRAVO! No need to give them one more tv viewer as the Wicked Witch of PA smirks, manipulates and acts all coy and superior. It is a sad "reality" they've created that allows Bee-atch to remain in tomorrow night and Austin is out.
I am officially going to bombard Bravo with emails over the next two weeks until this ridiculous show (which started out fabulous) is over. If anyone wants to join me in voicing your opinion over and over simply click on the contact link at the bottom of this page and tell producers what you think of the show they've manipulated.
Whatta ya think - "you eeda in, oh you out."

Eeda way - I am moofing fuhward allowing my voice to be huhd.

I hated the BR dress too - - what were they thinking?

But - I still find some of her designs interesting.
girlinagogo
I will be so pissed.

Kors said to Robio during the Banana Republic challenge that it's all about what's happening next in fashion. Jay has consistently demonstrated this. Not to mention that his runway show was simply exquisite. Innovative and interesting and I really felt like I knew his style from that collection, which is something I can't say was as clear for the other three.

I'm really not wound up too tight about it. Now if it were Jay on the line instead of the Golden Boy, I'd burn every last piece of BR I own.

But looking at their collections at Fashion Week, while both Wendy and Austin were received tepidly, Wendy is the slightly stronger designer. As other have suggested, this is probably because Austin is only 23 (or is he 26?), and still needs time to mature in his designs. Wendy produced wearable stuff, and it fits an overall look, albeit sort of Stepford Wivesish. Austin's teeters between costume and fashion, and too often his stuff looks like the person wearing it is playing dress up. (I know others have said all of this stuff, but I'm just defending why I'm not too torn up about Wendy.)

Yeah, she's a [expletive deleted]. Her designs are dowdy. She makes beautiful women look like crones. And she also occasionally makes them look like cheap sluts when she's trying to be sexy. So yeah, I hate her.

I actually like Austin alot more now than I used to. I dug his postal uniform, though I fully understand why it didn't make the cut. His wedding dress was actually cute and fun, except for that ugly slug trail behind it. His stuff is pretty and artistic. And now he helped Jay in the challenge, and has relaxed more, I really see the genuine gentlemanly queen persona underneath the surface image he puts up. I respect him alot more now. We all know Austin Scarlett will be around, so I don't really think my tears would be worth crying over him.
armygurl
Listen up everyone, it is all about Kara Saun. Austin is hot, but Kara gets it here and now. Wendy is just there for drama (hence the Cruella DeVille "Doo" )
sassychic
Good idea, but it wouldn't work with Wendy. She stated something to the effect,"...I'm not going to let this change me into a different person." I thought pity, that's exactly what you should consider.

Don't have an established favorite - didn't even know about the world of design (and didn't really care) until I laid eyes on Austin! Doesn't matter though, I know what I like and I'm saving money for an Austin Original!

I can't afford much designer duds, either. My idea of fashion is the Talbot outlet, though I got my mom to splurge on some suits from Kasper recently. Does 9 West and Etienne Aigner count for shoes? Like I know anyone who could afford Jimmy Choo...lol.

ooo, much like this show! We have unstable government in the form of judges, foriegn influence from the producers, widespread corruption (need I say the name), all being applied to a small group of designers.

Favorite designer on the show: Vanessa, based more on her website than on the few designs they showed us; then Jay.

Favorite established designers: Alexander McQueen is certainly first on my list. Also Jean-Paul Gaultier (under his own name, not Hermes); Tom Ford; and Alberta Feretti.

Wendy is nasty and bitter . She does not work well with others . And her designs are dowdy and mediocre at best . Wendy has a bad attitude . She should have been booted a few episodes ago .

Dear ThomsTeddyBear,
My favorite designer on the show is of course, Austin
My favorite established designers are Oleg Cassini (in the 1960s mostly..."Jackie O." designs by him) and Givenchy.
Thoms,
What's the name of that "gothic" designer? I think your favorite might be the one I'm thinking of. Remember Gwyneth Paltrow's black, gothic look she wore at the Oscars a few years ago and EVERYONE hated it? It was just after her father passed away and she said she was going thru a "dark" period. Anyway, whichever designer that was, I like their patterns and colors for the most part. Good question by the way!!

Oh! I remember the name! I also like Alexander McQueen! That's the name!
and how could I forget my favorite, simple wedding dress design by Narcisco Rodriguez...for Caroline Besette
Kennedy.

My favorite on Project Runway is Austin

Is it possible that Wendy The Bad Witch was the incompetent and nasty red herring ? Can Austin actually be hetero ?
jmfitz619
Ya know, deedee, I noticed the same thing. Like everyone else, I was sure that(regrettably) Austin would be gone after looking a the CNN site. Now, after Wireimage,I'm not so sure. As much as I'm unsure about his design this week (And I'm really worried for KaraSaun - To quote Nina in the preview - "What happened?") at least we can all see that the news sites aren't giving anything away. Maybe our favorite three are the finalists after all.....

Quite the shell game going on, eh?
Wednesday night needs to get here, NOW!
psyche
Letsee...
It's hard for me to pick favorite designers on the show because I'd keep bouncing back and forth between Austin, Jay, and Kara. Honestly, I'd be happy with the pickin's those three offer:) And I'd even like some outfits from the 'outcasts', including Robert's 'penis envy' outfit--so hot!--and even Nora's lawn chair and BR dresses (though I couldn't stand her whining/crying fit.) Quite honestly, I'm not out to get Wendy anymore...All of the designers at the top have achieved their goal--this show is a basically a love-machine for our favorites. Whoever said that the designers who don't win will still have legitimate careers is completely correct. Austin Scarlett/Jay McCarroll/Kara Saun designs? Hell's yeah! and yes, I'll be part of the Austin Fanclub all the way!! I agree too, that I didn't love his fashion week collection, though. It just wasn't his strongest work and for some pieces I seriously was like, "What? This is Austin??" But NOT to say that I don't think he's immensely talented and a face of the future. I think some of his works on the actual show were stronger--believe it or not, I think the perimitters actually DID affect Austin's work in a really helpful way, forcing him to be more focused on his craft rather than 'themes', i.e. in the 2055 collection or the now famous/adored BR dress--Austin has proven he is in fact versatile, though not as much as the others. But that's why I think some 'rules' are good for a designer like him--he makes beautiful works, but maybe he still needs some guidance. He's just very young and needs to hone in on what he's good at. I expect good things from him.
Jay's....collection...was AWESOME. Nothing else to be said, it was so friggin' visually GORGEOUS. Now there's an artist emerging--and I think we always knew he 'had it' all along. Consistently strong and listening to the beat of his own drum...there's such a symbiotic relationship between music and and his designs...loved the headphones...I could 'hear' his collection, if I you all will permit me to be a giant cheese ball;) Seriously, I loved it.
I can't find Kara's collection anywhere....maybe I'm just being computer illiterate. All four really had collections? I only saw three--Austin, Wendy, Jay. Wendy actually had some pieces I liked. She's not that bad, but not that great either. Love her or hate her, she has an appeal on certain levels.

Favorite real life designers? Eep, I'm an art student, not a designer....I like kinda surrealy type stuff. I'm into vintage/futury/fantasy things. Nerdy/hippy meets animae girl? I'm not into big labels, always...I like couture, but as far as designer names, I'm lost...
Anyway, just wanted to say I think all of you people are hilarious...haha...I check these boards daily, post occasionally, but I just have to see what the Project Runway crowd is up to, daily!smile.gif

OMFG!!! On her website, Wendy credits herself with designing "haute couture"???? Frankly, I find the use of that term along with her name is somewhat offensive and clearly points out she has absolutely no idea what haute couture is. Her "haute couture" sketches are definitely NOT haute couture and look like numerous out-of-date dresses that communicate "been-there, done that" . . . and don't get me started on the photographs of her "slut" dresses . . . for someone that describes herself as designing haute couture, the photographs are cheap and amateur-ish . . . like her designs

Few designers, historic and contemporary, design true "haute couture" . . . this woman gives herself way too much credit.

Does cellulite exist in the world of Austin?"

____________________________________________________________

Of course it doesn't. Just look at Austin, himself. He weighs what? Something like 90 pounds? Remember he fit into Jay's design for one of the real models!

Since I got confused, because, I too couldn't find any of Kara's designs on the New Yorker site, but found all of her designs on Wire Image, and the caption naming her as a "finalist" on the CNN site, (and I got distracted by how FABULOUS Vanessa Williams looks in that pic in the red dress) we're now talking about the final 3 as who?? Jay, Kara, and Wendy???

I don't think ANY poster here has any argument with the first two. However, to give credit where it does belong, that bronze-colored leather-haltery top dress attributed to Wendy does look rather hot, don't you think? Her behavior is atrocious, and she does come across as a whiny, sour-grapish (shall I say it?) bad loser in the Citizennet article, but she can design.

Still, Kara is my favorite "PR" designer.
Armani, Perry Ellis (for men only), Ralph Lauren, and Givenchy are my faves in real life. The last, particularly for always making Audrey Hepburn look absolutely gorgeous.

my fave designers are dolce & gabanna and valentino. guess that's why i love austin's designs - they're all so romantic - even if you have to be a size 2 to fit in one . . . But austin's swimsuit was fab, and it looked like it could be worn by women of all sizes
iowahousewife
My favorite designer on the show is Jay, followed closely by Austin and Kara. My favorite person on the show is Austin followed closely by Jay! I can't wait to see what Austin does in the future and each week I can't wait to hear the hysterical things Jay comes up with. I love his sarcastic babble.

My favorite designers.........Hmmmmm. Let me go way back. I grew up in Wyoming with a family of 8. Favorite designer early on was Mom. (No [censored] - I think my twin brother and I wore matching outfits up until middle school.) After college, I moved to Omaha, Nebraska and now find myself in small town Iowa. Not exactly fashion meccas. I have had little exposure to actual designer clothes, though I am addicted to fashion mags. I would say Donna Karan is about the only one I can find here and there, other than Liz or Ralph and they are not really my taste usually.
Someday, when my kids are older and we are back in NYC visiting my hubby's family - I would love to shop in Manhattan, but honestly I wouldn't even know where to start! I'd love to go shopping with Carson Kressley! What a dream that would be!
oscar
KEWL!! I want to turn this thread to actually be about designers.

I had a passion for Isaac Mizrahi first time I saw anything by him - but since then I think I just fell in love with him as a person. He is so full of life and so funny.
paillette
Iowahousewife, the fashion mecca of Manhattan is a store called Century 21, downtown, literally across the street from Ground Zero. A discount department store with top, top designers all marked down. Get there at the right time of year, during a further sale, and you can score big. Other times of year, C21 can still be fairly expensive for the really top-design clothes (even at 70% off, that stuff costs a pretty penny), but it's worth it just to go and look at the stuff, peer at the construction, and feel the fabric. High design is not only unique and beautiful, but exquisitely made.
deedee7
i also love calvin klein's designs - that is, his actual outer clothes such as skirts and pants, not his underwear. his designs have such clean lines, they look good on almost anyone
PaleFire76
1. Favorite designer on PR: I'm a die-hard Austinite! In second place are Jay, Nora, and Kevin.

2. I'm not a fashionista, but I do rifle through fashion mags once in awhile. The following designers tend to catch my eye: Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, and Zac Posen.
