Also we should all e-mail Nancy at Access Hollywood and tell her what we think of her taste.

I think you're emailing Ms. Whoever-that-was at Access Hollywood is a GREAT idea!

I went direct to her website (http://www.nancyodell.com/)from her blurb on the access hollywood site, as there was no email address listed on it. I hope she gets inundated with mail!!

D

It wasn't just Nancy O'Dell that got rid of Austin. There was also Nina and Michael Kors, and didn't someone mention earlier the producers (including Heidi) had a vote as well? Scapegoating really doesn't help anything.
terimac76
Actually the Nancy O'Dell site has a message board of it's own. I say let's do something about her obvious lack of judgement. And one must wonder with Wendy's creations.... Is there a secret pact to keep her on just for drama's sake since she is the "longshot"?
Peptic_Ulcer
Nancy actually has a discussion board, where she comes on and replies to questions and comments posted. She's actually a very down to earth, nice person. You can't blame her, rather the producers and judges, for not putting enough thought into how this last competition should have been judged. Overall, none of the dresses were that good.

All that said, Austin just has so much more talent than Wendy. I admire him, for his comments about being true to himself. Many other designers get the highest praise for just that. I'm really sorry to see him go, especially considering Wendy is still in. Just a poor job Bravo, Michael Kors, Nina Garcia & Heidi Klum. We will hear plenty from Austin, I wouldn't be surprised if he has several offers on the table right now.
adiener
That is soo funny. I was just thinking tonight to dub Wendy "Cruella" her hair is atrocious. I really would have liked to see her go home. She's such a witch, acting all smug when the others are "squirming" on the couch. I haven't read Tim's take or anything but I can't wait to get there. And I can't wait to watch next weeks episode...Seems Wendy got a new 'do. Like that helps what's inside...
dumb
sorry this is not new..la did this like 3 yrs ago (la the state not the city)...

HERE HERE!!!! If anyone deserved to truly win... Austin should have had it, and I'm sure there are offers already in the writing stages.
Tejayes
I am sick and tired of all this "I'm not watching anymore" and "This show officially sucks" and "Wendy ruined this show" and etc! Give it a rest! Wendy may be conniving and ruthless, but in today's market, that's a good quality (believe it or not). Plus, she needs to be considering she doesn't have the design education the others had.

If it makes you feel any better, remember the fact that with Karasaun and Jay in the finals as well, Wendy has no chance at winning.

Also, don't hate Wendy's dresses just because you hate Wendy. I've hated some American Idol performances because I've hated the performer (mostly Jon Peter Lewis and Carmen Rasmusen), but in reality they were pretty good.
hereandthere
Does anyone else think there is something wrong with Wendy? She seems like she might have a personality disorder.
shephoenix
I have LOVED Jay's designs throughout the entire show so far. I also love his personality, so he’s my favorite and I hope he wins. I also really like Kara because her designs are good and she seems like a good and humble person. Wendy, however, is a different story. I think she's a bit of a snatch. She should not have gotten this far and I think it's only because the producers want some drama and they want people to hate someone - which is deplorable. Austin was robbed as far as I'm concerned. He was stabbed in the back by Wendy in a previous episode and he lost to her pukey orange feather mess of a dress tonight. I just can't believe it and I'm grieving. I certainly hope that Wendy's karma kicks in some day and that she's treated the way she has treated people. When your introduction interview shows confessions of you being willing to steal and cheat in order to win, like Wendy’s does, you certainly don't deserve to win anything and I hope she gets what's coming to her. I just don't think she's a good person and she should be ashamed of herself. Jay, Kara, and Austin, I think you're all fabulous! Good Luck to all of you three! Austin, you should not have been eliminated tonight.

Wow. Maybe the producers partially realized their stupidity. I didn't know Kors was so upset. I hope he ponies up a job if he really meant it.

lk

Where is this posted (that Kors was upset and stuff)?? Or was it in the show and I missed it?!?
Loomchick
First . . . Nancy O'Dell picks an outfit that has a maternity-styled top and a bird's nest ass? I hope she ends up on Mr. Blackwell's "Worst Dress" list!

Second . . . Communication about this episode was so poorly handled . . . Nothing that happened tonight was a surprise. An "elimination you'd never seen coming"? Yeah, if you live in a frigging cave!

Third . . . Austin's dress was amazing . . . Sign me up! I'll buy one . . . and then I'll parade off to the Oscars.

Fourth . . . Tim describes Wendy's dress as "adorable"? Infant outfits are adorable . . . not dresses for an adult woman heading off to the Grammy awards!

Fifth . . . I'm glad Kara and Jay moved on . . . but, they did fall short on this challenge . . . Kara's outfit with the bias top was beautiful, but should have been worn without the pants . . . and Jay's was just not there . . . but, certainly better than Wendzilla's creation

I need a drink!
vermin00
It's a gimmick that rewarded a consistently bad designer instead of the truly imaginative one who just 'didn't listen'. Listen to what? Michael Kors is sold at Marshall's for crap sake. It's truly dispappointing they made a point to say that all the previous designs didn't matter - excuse me? isn't consistency important at all??? I would think a successful designer needs more than just one dress to make a career.

The final point being I would have absolutely loved to have seen a complete line by Austin - as for Wendy who cares? This show majorly screwed up placing a higher importance on the dramatic arch of having that nutcase stick around instead of showcasing someone truly gifted.

I can't believe it came down to Nancy O'Dell and what dress would look best on camera... jeez.... she's so vanilla......can anyone remember anything she's ever worn, ever??

Kara, Jay and Austin are in a completely different league than the Cruella......

Next year I can't see being this invested again.. I thought it was going to be based on talent, not on the game.....
JamieC
I think if she was willing to tweak Wendy's God Awful creation to wear then she should have done the same for Jay and picked his. I SO hope she ends up on a worst dressed list for choosing to wear that monstrosity.
I watch this show (the whole series I mean) and stand in awe.
Here is why...As a designer myself I am amazed at the ability of some of these designers...especially Kara and Jay. Both Technically and Creatively they are a cut above.
As for Mrs. Pepper...
I have never been so appauled by someone in my life. I am totally turned off by her "designes" as well as her personality. The reason the others got along so well is they respected eachother as designers and people. They had their eye on the prize but did not become monsters to get it. Wendy has constantly tried to tare them down and has taken joy from their worries and pain. No one gets far being like that!! Personally or profesionally. If there is one thing I have learned through my education and career it is that you do not go around burning bridges. It is a small world and it WILL come back to bite you.
She is just so disrespectful and ,I hate to say, untalented!! (and if i knew her personally I suppose I would be kissing her ass having said what I just said!
I digress...
I guess what I am trying to say is that she DOES NOT deserve to be there. I have disliked all but ONE of her designes and from what I gather from briefly looking over the message board most of you have too! God help me if she wins!

and on a side note...what in the hell is up with her head shot!?!?!? It makes me wonder if she is on some sortof of MEDS that she forgot the day they took that!
IM SORRY! i never talk like this about people. Especailly people I do not know! But LORD...ICK!

Come on. Since when is ANYTHING based on pure talent? Talent is pretty subjective, and thus not a 100% solid judgment factor.
jmfitz619
At the end of the show when Austin says "You haven't seen the last of me", and gets ready to leave, Michael Kors says "We'll be watching for you." Check his facial expression. He really looks like he regrets seeing him leave.
dumb
Okay, cannt be bother to read all the comments on tonight’s board All that I can say is that nothing shocked me… I knew either Austin or Kara was out.. Austin has no design sensibilities and Kara is just a technician….

In the end it doesn’t matter who won more comp… it matters who is the better designer (JAY!!!!!!!!!) in normal sporting competition as here is the one who is consistent (JAY, yeah he did win any indiv comp but he was always the runner up which show true diversity) Everyone else forgot what sort of competition this was…

It doesn’t help that most ppl on this board have no idea what fashion is…..come on when ppl on this board mention couture …they have 0 idea what it means….I need to say no more….

No matter if u ever liked Wendy, she was a better designer than Austin (he never designed an outfit …he did costume several)….

Kara, had no vision…come on her fw collection was inspired by the aviator…that’s so last fall…

Jay..only one to push beyond the present…..

FW rankings (wont be surprised if Judges disagree on finale:
Jay
Wendy
Kara
euph02
What? What? Wendy? She is awful. Nancy O'Dell can not dress if she thinks that Wendy was ok. her outfit looks like big birds. I loved Austin. Not as much as Jay. Jay is great, love Jay. I wish he could design me something. He is great. The only thing is he should have not listened to Kara. I like Kara but, I don't. I hate Wendy. Who really likes Wendy? She has no style. What's up with the make up and the hair? I think she marked up her own picture she is insane.
euph02
I would love to see a spin off with jay and austin togeather.

Did anyone else notice how Austin kind of pushed Cruella away when the hug went on too long? I'm sure he was crumbling inside. I would have been...just look at her smug face...

Hello everybody. i am a new user here and after finding out what happened on tonight's show I was appauled and disgusted. Are the judges that stupid and blind? I am so upset that that cow Wendy got chosen over Austin. Wendy is a mediocre "designer" who should have been gone since the first challenge in my opinion!!! I have not seen tonight's show yet (thank god for Tivo though) but based on what I have seen on this website, Austin's dress was by far the most beautiful, so why Wendy won this challenge is beyond me. I have to say that even though Wendy moved on the Fashion Week, I know that the things she did and the bad impression that many people have of her, will hurt her in the long run after people realize what a tricky, lying, backstabbing, mediocre, two faced B%^ch she is! This is so sad since Austin was one of my favs. On the other hand, I am very happy jay and Kara made it, those two really deserve it.
lisakaz
Someone mentioned that he looked like he was going to cry and that the judges seemed reluctant to eliminate him, making it sound like it wasn't what they wanted to do. Kors sure didn't like Cruella's design either. I refused to watch the show, since I knew Austin would get the axe.

Speaking of Austin.
I do not know if this has ever come up...but I IMDB'd Kara and Austin since I knew they were costume designers...just to see what they had done and the results for austin were a bit surprising. Not becasue of his resume (there is not one) but He is listed as an actor in a movie that...well...maybe you all should check it out yourselves!

Just read the review! WOW...sortof surprised!

I am soooo DEVISTATED!! I can't believe that someone as great, as visionary, as TALENTED lost to that nightmare of a woman!! Wendy is pure nastiness. She is NOT nice, nice people dont straight up come into something and use their "momness" to get everyone to love them and then screw her over! I love whoever said that she may have an imbalance b/c I've been saying that for weeks! She is a nasty, conivving person and I hope she gets laughed out of fashion week. And its not that I dont like her work b/c its her. I dont like it b/c its BAD BAD BAD!! Its unfinished and sloppy. I can see how someone can like some of her pieces, the BR dress was nice (obviously shows though that the mall is the only word in her fashion vocab) and actually, you can see some of their stuff on the CNN website about fashion week and there is a pink dress she did that I liked, but I'd never buy it b/c I dont like to support ppl like that. Cruella should fall on her face!! And can we talk for a minute about the crayon-style makeup she tries!?!? Is she high??? I'm an intelligent person, but I dont treat ppl like poo. Sadly enough, I feel bad for her kids.

KaraSaun I love of course, and I think it was crap that she lost her fabric to that nightmare. I think she is really great and would go far...but....there is one critique I have always had about her is that she is already on her way. She designed Queen Latifah's Oscar dress! She didnt need Proj Runway and I think in that regard she may have taken the place of someone who may have needed the exposure more.

Jay is a hoot and I would LOVE to have a drink w/him. He is so funny and irreverant and always knows EXACTLY what to say (esp when it comes to Wendy and Morgan) not to mention, I love his edgy "alterna-glamour" look. Good luck Jay, we love ya!

Now...as for the show. I think this episode was B/S from the start. First, you pick some C minus list reporter (I had NO idea who she was until they told me, sorry I watch real news) who obviously has a stylist who styles but hasnt really taught her style. That dress is a damn joke and I hope ppl try to pluck and fry her. But aside from that, you are going to determine people getting into FASHION WEEK, the #1 dream of any designer based on one persons opinion who doesnt know the designers, or their past work. I think they should have done something w/buyers or something like that for the final challenge. Something that will make them showcase themselves as people overall as well as their overall work. I think its right on to think that the producers cared about the drama and not the craft. This is still one of my fave shows on TV right now, but I'm quite dissapointed. Austin, I want you to design ANYTHING, dress or not you want for me. If Im ever in a position where I could, you would be my ONLY designer for everything! I would be honored to have an Austin Scarlett original! After, maybe we can go out dancing!!!
seagirlblu
I love jay too...but the others who were booted off had mucho talent also. Wendy has the least. I'm flippin mad that she has gotten this far. I loved Alexandra and miss her. I even felt sorry for Nora when she left. She had more talent in her pinky then Wendy. But hey...we're talking about the show, so the producers know what they're doing don't they?

Cannot wait till next week for the reunion. I want more of the whole crew!!!

This is my fav show on the tube.

PS. the judges need to be judged. They have horrible attitudes. The woman with the long blonde hair needs a few lessons in style. They're so catty! I'd hate to be in that bizz with people like them calling the shots.
jmfitz619
That's okay. If you look at the clips for next week's episode, when all of the designers have a sit down with Michael (Or is that Tim?) and Heidi, you can tell that everyone from KaraSaun all the way to Mario (Mario! he was eliminated in the second episode! LOL) hit Wendy with all sorts of questions and commentariy about her lack of character and using manipulation and "malicious trickery". I thought I heard someone say she leaves the set. Well, if you can't stand the heat, get off of the runway!

PS - Loved the Paul Revere outfit Austin wore at that meeting. I think personally it's a subtle reference to his collection at Fashion Week.
vodkaholik
By the way, who the hell is Nancy O'dell?
Katey
I love that you mentioned the judges. I think Michael Kors and at times the blonde one, were the only ones that were honest, but constructive. I dunno who the HELL that Elle woman is, but people learn when you dont cut them down. You are supposed to be there to not only judge but to guide a teach. She seems like a crappy person.

Thanks for your insight as a designer. I didn't get it myself. The BR dress was fine but I didn't like anything else. I loved Austin's design and lamented I am too old for it anymore (but if I was 18 again it'd be awesome). The BR dress was simple to make and pandered to BR (appropriately in their eyes). The producers and BR both wanted her to stay. Austin didn't know when to bend or blend his sensibility with the challenge. Jay is able to do that, as shown in his BR dress. Austin needs a mentor to work on his flexibility while remaining true to himself. It's a balancing act. Maybe Jay's greater or wider experience (age?) helped him in an odd way. If Austin can do that (like be able to inject "edge" to his work, where appropriate), he'll be great.

I hope Jay or Kara wins. I will be disgusted otherwise.

BAD JOB BRAVO!
-Letting Nancy O'Dell have a determinative vote in the finals

-Bringing Rob back just for the beefcake factor (Austin's response to this move was priceless!)

Three celebrity picks in 8 challenges is too many, imo, especially when the celebs have NO design credentials. All 3 had questionable results.
-------------------------------------
So Tim won the challenge.. oops!..excuse me, Wendy and Tim...um..excuse me, Wendy...Talk about tweaking! Tim did a re-design for her.

Wendy's top looked just like the top Nancy had on when she briefed the designers..very ordinary (except maybe the back). Wendy tweaked it like she tweaked the postal uniform...and excuse me who wants to wear a skirt made out of feathers? National Enquirer get your cameras ready!

Kara's was the most beautiful to me, sexy and stylish and beautiful. I also didn't like the pants but if Nancy is not going to wear Wendy's bottom she could have dropped the pants too.

Nah, I hate Wendy's dresses because they are each an eyesore. Some examples:

1. Her non-existent, candy bikini from episode 1. I still firmly believe Wendy, rather than Daniel, should have been eliminated. At least his piece wasn't a garish, silly string mess and also didn't begin melting and splattering all over the runway. Even Wendy herself claimed her design was indefensible.

2. Her bottomless, tangerine bathing suit. God forbid that it actually get wet.

3. Her David's Bridal-type wedding gown. There was something very severe-looking about it. The jagged red edges connoted violence, not something I would wear to what is supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life.

4. Her 2055 cat yarn fiasco. It looked as if Melissa dressed up as a cowgirl and then got sucked up through a tornado. Hardly futuristic.

The list goes on.

Sorry, just MHO.

I'm not at all worried about Austin (though I almost cried!!)... He'll probably be hired to design for Alexander McQueen. That would be perfect!!
lisakaz
Since you're such an expert and we're so dumb, what exactly is Wendy's design courture philosophy or sensibility? I think Michael Kors called it "farty." I think he was right and it applied to several of her outfits. If you like it so much, you are free to buy or wear it. Coming soon to a Wal-Mart near you.

All of her bodices are the same. (Candy/envy/wedding/bathing suit/grammys)

Ugh, that postal uniform. My god. She should have left LONNNG ago. Did anyone else like Mario's designs? I think he was cut short.

Pffft. How funny was Austin's quote re: Wendy wandering the streets with "crazy makeup". Hahaha just look at her designer profile on the Bravo website. Then's Jay's comment about her not wearing any lipstick and "that face"....
fashionchika
Okay, so we can all agree that Wendy is a nutjob. She is one of those severe, off-balance past-their-prime ladies that will occasionally freak you out with their unexpected meanness. (I had an encounter with just such a beast recently at a nasty french place in NYC (La Luncheonette- don't go there!)) But anyway, moving on.
Have you looked at her website?? wendypepper.com. There is some weird and ugly stuff on there. Truly! I am open-minded , but this stuff was just hideous! Dresses with mesh-like see-through tops...enough said.
There are so many politics at play here. Yes, Nancy O'Dell "picked the dress," but as the disclaimer in the show said there are producers involved in the decisions. It's not fair play.

They want that villain on their show. They want people to watch. I think, however, it injures the show's credibility. But, that's television. All they care about is ratings. Do you think they care about introducing the next big designer to the world? No! It's a freaking reality show...just like Fear Factor, Top Model and all that other BS.

But anyway, I will say it's fun to watch. The show. Not Wendy. She's rather harsh to look at. She sucks all the sexiness out of the program.

My predicition for the winner- Jay. He's got talent and charisma. He's the only one I can picture running a fashion empire.
gracieo
Man, I thought it was going to be Austin, Kara, & Jay...FOR SURE. Then I read that f-ing CNN article. UGH! Those damn producers. I wish it were truly up to the judges. And why did Tim keep helping Wendy? He shoulda let her use those orthopedic shoes on the runway.

Like I said, Austin can just go work for Alexander McQueen and Wendy can go back to the sticks.

At least he got to show at Fashion Week too! (Even if he was just a decoy.)
PaleFire76
Just wanted to add I wish Austin the greatest success in his designing career. A number of people not only admire your attitude and professionalism (you handled yourself like a true gentleman during tonight's elimination), but many adore your divine and breathtaking pieces. I became hooked and watched this show each week in anticipation of the creations that you and a few of my other favorite PR designers (Nora, Kevin, and Jay) would dream up and skillfully turn into a reality. I watched every single episode not because of the nasty Wendy drama but because I wanted to see a piece that would make my imagination soar. You certainly did not disappoint me in tonight's challenge!

Final plea: please, please, please set up a website!
lafalite
Let's see if she is going to wear that dress to the Grammy or just a !?!?!...What's her name again? Who is she?
This challenge was not as good as I expected. They all fell off. But Wendy's, it's more like a dress that a hooker would wear.
isis101
I totally agree with you about Nancy O'Dell. For crying out loud why did she have to be one of the judges in this crucial stage where the most talented among the 12 designers who competed are given a chance at Fashion Week. "Most talented" means the cream of the crop right? It means the show has sifted the truly gifted and talented. But having O'Dell among the roster of judges in this episode utterly destroyed the whole point of the show.

She was totally gullible about Wendy's justification of her awful design. That she liked the top because it looks good since only half of her body can be seen on cam and well the rest of the dress, like the skirt, she said she could just "tweak" it! She was just so attracted by the color "orange" and doesn't really have any idea about good fashion design. Let's see if she's really going to wear the "feathered" dress she picked for the Grammy's. I hope the fashion police will show her no mercy!

Kara, Austin and Jay should have been the magic three. They have the talent and the attitude. May their creativity shine through. And although Austin will not be on Fashion Week this year, I hope we'll be able to see his line in the next FWs to come.

As for Wendy, I hope her daughter doesn't see a DVD of this series when she grows up. She has really exposed her true self in ways that a parent shouldn't have. She shouldn't be happy and "smug" at her success since she didn't really attain it by the merits of her talent and creativity. Instead, she has gotten to where she is now by becoming manipulative, two-faced and intentionally exploiting her being a "mother figure" to the people around her.

Where's justice in all these?

I'm just trying to say that hating is wrong. I've learned my lessons, and am doing my best to see the good in people and ignore the bad, as hard as it might be. I don't even want to hate people who hate people, like everyone on this board.

Here's the good in all 12 contestants:

Alexandra: She has a sweet, uplifting personality that always puts a smile on my face.... Okay, she's hot, too! That's a plus, right?

Austin: You GOTTA admire his creativity! Corn Husk, Snow White Queen, even that tidal mess of a bridal dress were very creative.

Daniel: Ain't nobody gonna hold him down, oh no, he's gonna keep on moving! Seriously, he does what he loves, and doesn't let a little setback like being first gone upset him.

Jay: Creative like Austin, and really funny! As derogatory as it may have been, the cockroach comment was gooooooood!

Kara: There's a reason she's called "The Professional." She knows what she's doing, and can't do much wrong.

Kevin: It's actually kinda hard for me to pinpoint his exact good points, but I can't find anything particularly negative about him, either. That's good, right?

Mario: He said it himself, "I'm not compromising my art." And he shouldn't. Way to fight the censors, Mario!

Nora: Pure spunk with a lawn chair! Very talented, especially being the youngest contestant there.

Robert: He's got charm up the bare wazoo! He could sell a dress made of mud and the ladies would buy it up quick!

Starr: She has no education in fashion, and yet she has made some good stuff. Not bad for a corporate lawyer!

Vanessa: Smart and charming, despite an ill-conceived mistake which got her eliminated. And she's BRITISH! Gotta love those Brits!

Wendy: Like Starr, she has no formal education in design, and has won two challenges on this show AND made the final three. She has so much determination, and she won't let anything, not even her lack of skills, stop her.

As next week's episode will show, they did not edit Wendy into a villan, she really is a horrible person. If it was unfair editing, the other contestants would have agreed. From the preview, it seems that they all had a problem with her too.

That's it! In order to preserve my own humanity, I will ignore all hateful people on this board, starting with gracieo!

Hahaha. I only speak the truth. Willed ignorance is a funny thing. Purposefully ignoring reality won't make it go away. It's just naiive.

Well, Vanessa did say that many of them kept in touch, and one topic especially discussed was Wendy Pepper. So people like Mario and other who were eliminated before the real nasty stuff started were most likely informed by one of the other contestants who hate her.

I don't hate Wendy, but I pity her and think she is very toxic. She feeds off negative energy and I'm not into those kinds of people.

Just got here to the boards, but adore the show. My favs are Jay, Kara, and Austin (who should be our final 3 based on talent) Imo, as much as I hate to say it, I truly think Austin missed the mark on this challenge tonight. His garment was truly gorgeous and I can not imagine a star who would not do well with the fashion police in it, but as described, the Grammys is the flip side of the Oscars. How many rock stars do we see in such glam garments. Unfortunately with all the shock stars like Christina, and Lil Kim, and Britney out there, trash talks. I think we can all agree that Wendy's garment would fit the trash market. Austin's talents lie in glamour and I think it says it all when our "esteemed" guest judge asks him to design her Oscars gown. He will be remembered more from that one opportunity than Wendy ever will from this Fashion Week.

What I do not understand is if missing the mark was actually part of the real judging, then why was Wendy not eliminated long ago. I have also seen that disclaimer popped up for about one half of a second at the end of the show stating that the producers of the show do have say in the voting decisions. I wonder how much of a decision?? All in all, with exception to tonight, everyone who should have been eliminated has been.

Best of luck to both Kara (in my opinion the odds on fav to win) and Jay (someone I would adore meeting and also having design for me). As for Wendy...well congrads on getting so far. Remember to look over your shoulder though. That boomerang named Karma really packs a whallop.

Does anyone know if Austin has a site or how to get in contact of him for obtaining his design services?

I just hope they give Wendy hell in the reunion. I'm so glad to see mario again. He is so hot!

Well put!! You can't just ignore all the bad things for the sake of being a pacifist.
