I did the Marc Bouwer show on Wednesday and who would walk into the room but three PR contestants -- Jay, Kara and Nora. Jay and Kara seemed to be very visible during the NY Fashion Week, and the two actually drew the most favorable buzz on their collections. Many fashion insiders, however, are betting on Jay, with Kara a close second. According to one of those who were able to see the show last Friday, the judges seemed torn between Jay and Kara.
I like Jay, and after the Bouwer show, I ran into him outside the venue, smoking as usual. I couldnt help myself but tell him "I love you! You should be the winner!" he replied nonchalantly and told me "Well, it's not over yet!"
Back at the tent, Jay, Nora and Robert were seen posing for opictures and signing autographs. And where was Wendy? I didnt see her, so I presume she got the message that she wouldn't bag the contest. It seems to me that Jay and Kara are working it during Fashion Week to, you know, ensure victory for either of them, and if not, then a nice handshake with fashion's most influential people would have not been bad at all!
Wow, I hope you were able to get his autograph! Jay had me feeling a bit apprehensive about him at first but after seeing him distraught over Mario's elimination, I felt sorry for him and he's grown on me ever since. I wouldn't be upset at all if he or Kara won the whole competition.

Robert is attractive (he definately seems to have the girls charmed..) for me, the hottest looking designer will always be Calvin Kline. If you've ever seen a picture of him back in his "Studio 54" days!!!!!!! He was so hot you could hear the sizzle!!! Time and age has not been so kind to the poor dear though.

How surprised was everyone when it was revealed that Robio was the "technical support"? I thought that is was going to be either Kevin, Vanessa, or Nora.
I thought it was going to be the return of some of the cast and they they would be divided evenly between the four to help with the construction of the outfit like in the rock-n-roll challenge.
Quote:
No one has really mentioned this but Kara Saun seemed a little rattled in last night's epi. She's usually pretty calm but she seemed a bit stressed.
I noticed that. I think it was a combination of her realizing she made it to Fashion Week (I'm sure it got her adrenaline pumping) and the sorrow of seeing a good friend eliminated. Big groups can be tight but smaller groups grow even tighter over time due to the trials and tribulation they go through.
Quote:
Besides the group therapy part of next week's bonus epi it looks like they are going to show more behind the scenes designing outtakes.
That's what I'm waiting for, it should explain alot of things!

I feel so sad that Austin got eliminated, and you won't like to know how i felt when Rob, were too. Nor the Rob, were a great designer, but i liked Rob, cause he was fun, and make me laugh, like when he run naked, in the apartment, and the cameras got him shot. Did you all saw it, right, if not, you missed it, sorry.
Sorry Austin, i think Austin dress, was perfect for the grammy's, i don't understand, the crap, that they made up, saying that his dress, "was too glamorous for the grammy's", so, isn't the grammy's a glamorous event? What that suppose to mean.
I don't like how the judge, about prejudices, is fashion what they suppose to judge, and give their best point of view, they give their criticism and judgement, for how the designer personality is, and what they were thinking about, when they made the dress.
I mean, what michael kors, think when he design, that bull of clothes, he comes out, in runway shows. I think most of his clothes, i hate, sometimes he doesn't have no taste.
And what about, some of heidi klum outfit,?.

No, but give the Wendy-lovers a moment and they'll think of something.

if i remember correctly, kara took wendy aside and tried to help her with her hair and make-up for the BR runway show.
wendy herself said kara was helping her with her self-image, of which she said she has no concept.
i frankly don't think we have been shown any instance at all in which kara was mean to anyone.
and the wendy defendys can say anything they want about editing and all that.
i don't think you can 'edit' the fact that none of the designers like her. i don't think they were swayed by editing. they were THERE.
i mean, shoot. jay was happier to hear that kara made it to fashion week than he was to learn that he had. for that kind of guy to say "i hate wendy" means something.

I checked out the site, but I didn't see any of Kara Saun's outfits there, just Jay's --whose I could tell my the headphones =) Austin's (by the period/costume pieces) and Wendy's -- I recognized the Stepford dress (and yeah, it did remind me of a Stepford wife) and the others I'd seen from other sites of the show.

I mean, culturally speaking, there are so many wonderful textures, patterns, colors and shapes available… I think she could have made an interesting impression by using the many facets of varied cultures to create unique and exotic pieces.
Just my two yen…spend it however you like. (Smile)
Now if she had done something like that instead of stooping to tactics, I would have still been rooting for her. Though she was not my favorite in the beginning, I'm her age and a mother and was hoping she would show that she had the talent to make it. What a big dissapointment.

--Finally, with the task to make a "swimsuit/party dress," she did it. Yes, there's the controversy over the thong, which I don't know %100 about (I'm back at college now, and we don't have Bravo here). Still, her design was, as someone said before, a "bathing dress," or as I see it, a party dress you can wear into a hot tub. I like it!
Tejayes, personally, Wendy swim suit, it was great, and i liked it, because, it look like the kind of swim suit that i wear to the beach and pool, cause i don't feel good showing my body, so i liked hers. Still, what i thought since she made a bathing suit that long, she should have join the thong altogether, even though it was too small, the thong was the compliment to that swim suit.

yeah, i think wendy's #1 problem is a lack of self-confidence.
i think the message that all her supporters seem to have missed is the one from wendy herself: she's said it, so i will, too: she can't rely on her own abilities so she plots and schemes.
she said it.
i don't really understand why some now act like that's not true.
and I agree with her on that point. Wendy doesn't draw on her knowledge and experiences because she just doesn't have the ability to do so.
i think kara summed it up elegantly: if you have to rely on sabotage and plots, obviously you don't have the talent to win with your designs.
there are so many of us, I believe, on this board who would be pulling for wendy because we are 40-something or 30-something moms. why wouldn't we pull for her?
it was wendy herself who took care of that...........

I hate to say this, but sorry, I just don't like KARA!
I hate her pretty much, and don't get the wrong idea, is not because she is black, cause am black too, is not for her color skin.
But you all that like her, you just can't see what a mean person she really is. She already thinks she is going to win, i mean from the start. Because she won so many challenges, she think she got the project to herself, and is her who's going to have the $100.000. I hope Jay give her a TOUGH FIGHT. LIKE AUSTIN TOLD HIM, "KICK ASS, JAY".
I HOPE HE DOES, AND KARA WOULD GET OUT HER REAL FACE, THAN THAT SHE ALWAYS TRYING US TO BELIEVE. What she said to Wendy was unkind, that shows, what she really is inside, and what ambitious thoughts she have. She said that Wendy was trying to sabotage, her work, cause she pick the same color,on purpose, to make her dress, with the similar color patterns of her, and that way she would win, because she is copying her(the "winner". But i agree with Wendy, she pick that color, because that was the same color this nancy, was wearing when she told them about what she wanted her dress, and maybe they two, thought, that the color look and fit her well. There wasn't any of that, what Kara tried us to believe, that girls is a pain in the neck, there she goes, saying, that she is the salvation of every designer on the runway, because when they are stuck on some project, she is always, willing to help them. Did you saw what she did to Jay, and what does she called that, i think that is sabotage, you are the one who sabotage everybody else, and when they tried to give them they're point of view, she just gets mad, and don't let them say a word about her work.
I hope she lose, that's all.

Jays designs are all with the head phones. I don't particularly like the headphone theme but his designs are amazing!!!
Below are my very subjective opinions on those designs:
Lets see if I end up liking or disliking all of a certain designer's creations (you know who's) without me knowing which ones Kara did & which ones Wendy did. No way I can be accused of prejudice this way.
There are a few lemons in those 40 garments (going from left to right) on page 1 : number 3 & 4 in the first row.
Everything on the second and third rows are lemons except the last one on row 3.
Number 1 in row 4 yikes! Last one in row 4 ouch!
From those first 20 designs on page 1 my favs are: number 5 from row 3 and number 4 from row 4
From page 2:
Number 1 from row 1 ewww. Number 4 and 5 on row 1 oh no! Most of the rest on this page are Jay's designs. My favs on that page are: number 2 in row 3, number 3 in row 4,
My fav of all the 40 is number 4 and 5 in row 4 (page 2) stunning!!
My least favs from all 40 are (page 1) : number 5 row 2 and number 5 row 4.
Lets see how I do.
Did you guys notice that the garment that made the most money was Kara's wedding dress?? It sold for almost $2,000!!

I hate Wendy and I hate her designs, BUT I can see why she won the Grammy challenge . . .
Looking at all four designs, hers was the one that could obviously and easily hide that awful battery pack and accomodate the microphone wire. Jay's was too tight around the small of the back to accomodate it. On Austin's dress the gauzey drapery would have molded to the pack and outlined it and even Kara's dress did not obviously have enough room to hide the thing.
I don't think Nancy O'Dell chose based on which dress she liked the best, just chose the only one she was sure wouldn't leave her looking like she had a square tumor growing on the small of her back.
Unfortunately, that was Wendy's

I hate Wendy too! Such a no talent [expletive deleted]. But I think i finally realized why she is still there and Austin is gone. Its not because she had the best design or because that idiot nancy thought hers was the best, its because the judges felt they would have to hard of a time choosing between Austin and Kara, so they eliminated one of them and let that ignorant [expletive deleted] stay because they know there will be no competition at all from her. So Wendy, that little ugly smerk that you always have on your face when you get chosen to stay and someone else is eliminated, its not because you are any good, its just so they will have 1 designer with absolutely no talent in the end, you know, someone to put down on and laugh at, well Wendy, that designer is you! Bob Mackie was big in the 70s. He often did Cher's more outrageous outfits but he also dressed Carol Burnett for her show. If you've ever seen Carol's satire "Went With the Wind" where she has a curtain rod in the back of her outfit, that visual joke was a Bob Mackie design. That sketch is considered one of the all time great scenes of that comedy/variety show.

yeah, much better to see them moving and also to hear the music! what was up with austin's music???
i really loved Jay's stuff and i thought kara's in particular moved well (her gowns!)
Michael Kors looked so proud of all of them... haha when he says the collections show the designers' personalities, i thought, yep wendy-- hideous.

She's not my style but I think she's very talented and most often is thoughtful at what she does. The postal service uniform really showed why she's good. So, I can clearly admit her talents though I don't think I would want to wear her much. I can say the same thing about Jay's collection. He's very talented but that show isn't to my taste. Cruella doesn't have a taste. This is why I liked Austin's stuff the best. Now, can he design "fru-fru" sweatpants??? I wear a lot of casual stuff lately. LOL.

I agree, it was a stupid bill.
can you imagine us all being required to take fashion direction from the leaders of the commonwealth of virginia?
holy cow!!!
Just the thought makes me cry. Tears of laughter, of course. I'm incredibly respectful and thankful for the work that civil servants do, but the idea of them setting what's acceptable fashion in any state is just...comical.
Hey, there's a challenge for any future season...make over a politician! Design a gown for a state dinner or something. That would certainly stretch the versatility of some of the designers.

it looks like Nancy O'Dell is *not* going to wear the Wendy muppet outfit. it is up for auction on the PR site.
if she wasnt gonna wear it, she shouldnt have been allowed to keep wendy on because of it!
