Sure, I was there to win and made no bones about it - but I would never have allowed someone to suffer the way I did and offer no consolation. There is a difference between engaging in honest competition and providing humanitarian compassion.
Also, isn't this the same Wendy Pepper who says she loves to see people who make her life difficult squirm, and that she could stay in that moment forever? A-a where's the compassion...where's the humanitarian in wanting to win just to see Kara in your rearview mirror, huh? Oh, of course we all know it is all about Wendy, isn't it? Everybody there competing for Project Runway had to love Wendy, or they were not compassionate or a humanitarian, no matter what on earth Wendy did to any of them or the other designers that they actually did befriend and come to respect and love.

I guess my thing with Starr Jones is...I hate her as much as people around here hate Wendy :-)
BTW, just regarding my "change of heart": I am not really disagreeing about La Pepper being in the top 3 because I didn't care for Austin's designs. I just won't really give her the benefit of the doubt anymore, in light of her comments on the Envy episode (2nd episode!!! Can't chalk it up to pressure when she's saying this stuff way back when).
Anyway, 1 more day before the drama unfolds. I keep thinking Wendy is not the one who walks out of the set. Wouldn't that be a touch too predictable? Anyways...
Someone mentioned that it might be Vanessa who walks out because she's heard saying, "Don't tell me to shut up". I hope not, I like her. But it could also be Nora as witnessed in the Rock episode, or Starr simply because she breaks down so easily.

whoah...i think your perhaps overreacting just a touch here-by "niche-driven" i believe that she's speaking as to the type of fashion they do- it's very, very hip, very (typically) NY or LA not for the "middle-america" crowd that wendy attempts to appeal to. i would say that she's correct-but that's the typical fashion world-it trickles down to the masses through a select few who we think are "stylish"-i can even understand her dislike of that. i know that many "hate" wendy on here, but i hardly think she's homophobic or racist- don't you think the producers would be drooling with glee to expose it if she was? talentless, perhaps, backstabbing, totally, but hardly seems to hate based on race or sexual preference-wendy's more of an equal opportunity b**ch.

But I leave it to our fellow message board posters. Folks, if anyone is so inclined, please refer to Page 337 of the Designers posting for Puddinhead's posting on Austin's elimination. This is a quote on the Model message board. Just wanted everyone to see it.
"Jay is a very fair competitor..and just a nice guy! And keep in mind to all who were offended by his comments: they take so much of the interviews out of context and edit them to their liking...they have a way of making anyone look how they want them as a character on the show = reality TV!
In fashion week I was in Jay's finale outfit...the last of the show in the pink feathery looking gown with the fuschia headphones...funny we could barely hear anything with those things on!
We all definately talked about the designers and the eliminations..some were upsetting..some we could see coming..we weren't allowed to hear the Q&A's with the designers so we only saw that part when it aired...we all definately had favorites and developed relationships with certain designers i.e. Jay and I and Jenny with Kara-Saun.
My personal favorite was Jay's bathing suit...it was a little tight but I felt it was the most complete and coolest looking suit..I REALLY wanted him to win that one! Maybe I should have sat on the Page Six guy's lap or something..ha ha....I actually have no clue who defaced Wendy's picture...and as much as Wendy isn't my favorite, it's a nasty thing to do...we had an inkling that maybe that maybe it was production who did it to create more tension and drama with the designers?'

i have viewed tr since the first show,it is compelling television. I have given this much thought as to why Austin was eliminated. Austin aspires to be a couturier in the classic sense. I applaud him for that. Very few understand what that means. Most fashion today is costume. Real couture is a science in the manner of Givenchy,YSL, Chanel. Every inch of a garment was a study in perfection,There were seamstresses who did nothing but buttonholes or hems or beading. The designs were like architecture and flawless.you only have to look at Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn to see the result. Unfortunatly these wonderful design houses barely exist. They were so very costly and peoples tastes change so rapidly. He is extremely talented and will go far . Now the Wendy debacle........It was planned this way from day one. She made for good television,in the last episode Tim(darth vader)made sure her design was acceptable he really tried to tell he what to design,so I'm convinced of his part in the deception. The whole thing angers me. Not at the show at myself for buying into it.

Hey, folks, I'm just coming out of retirement to say goodbye. I've been reading along more sporadically than in the past, mainly because since ep. 8 the range of discussion topics has narrowed quite a bit (basically, to Wendy, the most uninteresting person on the entire show!) and also because so many of the posts have become repetitive (e.g., venom, and response-quotes plus more venom). Regardless, I wanted to say that I enjoyed getting to know some of you, especially before the Wendy obsession set in, and that I wish you all the best.

That label of "dowdy" bothers me, too, only in the middle America reference. The funny thing is that Wendy is from Virginia, so you'd think some of that so-called costal forward thinking would come through, but no.
That feather dress she made looked like something I wore for a dance recital when I was 4 years old. Gah! And I think you can get to a point where you tweak something so much it has no resemblance to the original. What O'Duh wore to the Grammys was just a plain orange dress, nothing more, nothing less. It had no personality whatsoever, and was so far from the original (granted, the original, from the waist up, wasn't anything special, either) that it was a completely different dress that just so happened to be done in the same color as the original.
I agree with everyone who said that Kara's outfit was good, and I don't mind the dress over pants look, but they needed to be much trimmer. The look was too Lenny Kravitz for someone who's just standing around doing interviews. Had she actually been a rock star, it may have worked, but it doesn't seem she had the personlity to pull it off.
Austin, how I miss you so! I thought you were a little freaky at first with the makeup and the glasses you wore only for fashion, but now I realize you're cool! That took some class to make a dress out of corn husks, and also put aside some of your own personal drive to help out another designer by modeling for him. I've got a new respect.
Wendy, Wendy, Wendy. Rub off that garish blue eyeshadow and the cartoonish blush and just drive your ass home. Shoo! I liked you at first, kind of, but we see you're just a wannabe [expletive deleted], and now the whole world knows it, too. Go sew some costumes for your daughter's dance class, and quit smirking at people. You may as well be petting a white cat and smoking a cigar, for all those smug looks you give people. And the amazing thing? You're doing it on camera, knowing full well the world is going to see it! WTF!? Go now, Wendy. Shoo!
Go Jay! You've had your weird little Bjork moments with the hair knobs and white fur, but I love you anyway. Mwah! Mwah! Mwah! Without you, this show would have no humor whatsoever and I would've quit watching a month ago.

Thanks for proving Pailette's point about the venom. I do analyze what's being shown, (and let the record reflect I'm no fan of Wendy's). But there is a difference between being critical of someone on a message board for a TV show and repeatedly emailing them personally to tell them how much you hate them. Yes, the latter is pretty creepy and in some states, depending on the content of the email, may subject the emailer to criminal and civil penalties. If you are busy doing that, then yes, you are a stalker.

hey, don't forget that pesky first amendment.
the stalking statutes to which you refer (and good luck attempting to enforce them using emails!! LOL!!)are pretty tight and don't even exist in all states.
but in any event, my input would be: if you aren't interested in getting the emails, don't ask for them. and if you don't want people commenting on what you do, don't go on a nationally-televised reality show.
and if you don't want people to hate you, don't behave in a manner that clearly is calculated to evoke a negative response.
and if you don't like what TTB writes, don't read it.
said it before, sayin' it again:
these message boards can be fun, but the self-righteous, self-appointed thought and word police make my behind itch.

They were just voicing their opinion, just like you and everyone else is. You're right, this is a message board and we're free to ignore things we don't like, but we're also free to comment on it as well. You guys don't like Wendy, you come here to comment about it. We don't like the fact that it seems some people are getting dangerously close to the "stalker" line, we comment on it. Simple.
It's her website for her business, of course there's going to be an email address on it. Should she expect hate mail? Sure, she was a b*tch on national t.v., if she didn't than she's even more out of touch with pop culture than even she would admit to...however, just because you don't like someone's actions on a television show doesn't make it the right thing to do to email them and tell them you hate them.
Do you have the right to? Well, as far as no one can stop you from doing it, I guess you do. And I think it's really interesting that someone was just commenting that they thought it was unnecessary to do such things and people jump up to start yelling about how you can't ban such things, and first ammendment rights, and blah blah blah. No one said it should be banned, no one is trying to infringe on your constitutional rights. They're just exercising their own rights to make comment on what they see...and personally, I agree with them.
The "Wendy" we see on a television show called Project Runway is a character. Sure, she said those things, she did those things, she's a bad sport about the game. But does watching what amounts to less than 9 hours of someone's life tell us all there is to know about that person? Of course not! Did she wrong you personally? Is it *really* necessary to email her to tell her how much you don't like her? There are people I know personally, people who have done mean things to me directly who I still wouldn't waste a moment of my day emailing awful things to...so why all the energy spent on someone you don't even know?

Actually, I thought it was a good thing that Iowa Housewife sent Wendy the better part of the postings. (Love you, Iowa Housewife! You got balls!) Because as several other posters have said, Wendy always thinks in terms of "why me?" She clearly thinks that she doesn't have to have responsibility for her actions, but that everyone owes her something because she's the odd [expletive deleted] out.
The other designers, and models (thanks, Julia!) aren't making up their feelings toward Wendy. No amount of editing is going to show you that Kara Saun did not hug Wendy when K found out she got into FW, but hugged everyone else. No amount of editing is going to change that moment when Robert looked to Wendy on the runway for solidarity, and Wendy, stonefaced, looked straight ahead. Editing did created Wendy's voiceover over the green room scene about liking "people squirm," but she did SAY those words. She didn't have to say it, but she gives the producers so much fodder, how could they not put that in?!
Wendy's got to understand that by selling her soul to PR, she may not have the desired effect she wanted, which is to be thought of a designer. Besides the prizes and awards, isn't that what the show is about? Coming out to the world as a designer and getting some exposure so someone can buy your creations?
PR's not high school, but Wendy is a classic case of the nerdy kid who thinks that people perceive her as different, but has no idea, that she actually alienates everyone by her own insecurity and low self-esteem.

I haven't been following all the discussions, but seriously, are people actually sending Wendy hate mail/e-mail? Get a life! Those people are right up there with people who can't differentiate between "characters" on TV shows and the real actors.
Pretty scary, eh kids?

That's what made me feel badly for La Pepper in the first place! I am not sure about how stalker laws work with regards to the Internet because these are fairly new and usually not enforced.
I know when I was younger I hated Whitney from "A Different World". LOL

Vanessa is a big biatch. Somebody posted a link to an interview of hers done after the show. She came across a mean opinionated bag.
And what's so wrong with being opinionated? Too few people have the guts to be lately, and I found her to be refreshing. If only she wouldn't have worn that t-shirt with her own name on it all the time... now that was annoying.

"And what's so wrong with being opinionated?"
when her every other opinion was "I'm God's gift to Earth", well, it gets old fast.

Sure, I was there to win and made no bones about it - but I would never have allowed someone to suffer the way I did and offer no consolation. There is a difference between engaging in honest competition and providing humanitarian compassion.
Did Wendy really say this?!

One Example Why I don't Like Vanessa So Much:
in an interview at http://www.popgurls.com/article_show.php3?id=529
"When I got there I was really, really shocked at the talent that was there. I mean, I thought everybody was going to be like me - I thought that the challenges, and what they got us to do, would be a lot further up the fashion design scale. In reflection I understand that that's probably not great TV. I thought we would be doing things like going to Donna Karan's studio and directing the team, somebody else would go somewhere else, and the competition would be based on being a fashion designer. Being a fashion designer is not sitting in a room with college kids, sewing your garment start to finish. If any one of my clients thought that I was sitting in the back sewing, they wouldn't come to me. The fashion industry is 100 percent built on image, and credibility;"
that may be true, BUT
the main reason I like this show, as opposed to other reality shows in which the contestants have to eat bugs or ride a tricycle on a 1 foot wide board across 2 skyscrapers, or get breast implants to go with their new nose, is that the competitors actually have to have SKILL! I like to see them make something beautiful out of cornhusks, or even something ugly out of feathers! I find it inspiring to make things myself.
It seems to me that anyone can indeed be a designer and dream something up, but not everyone can actually make it happen.
Here's to skill. (clink.)
