I thought Jay designed the clothes for the porn stars to wear in the movies? I thought he said that in the first episode. I can be wrong though.
I don't think he specifically stated what he did, although I may be wrong....I just know he said he worked in porn and almost instantly questioned whether or not he was actually a porn star.
Ok ok, the mystery has been solved. He did in fact say what he did in episode one....he said he worked on website design for a porn site. I was smitten with Jay before the show started, so I guess when I heard Jay talk about porn, my mind glossed over what he actually said and went somewhere else entirely.
My bad.

Welcome to the boards, Sock
Isn't Austin the stuff! Can you imagine how a woman would feel in one of his dresses? The confidence boost would be enormous! I wish I was small enough to wear his slinky envy number...lord, where's the Dexatrim - I'm going on a diet!

Haha, oh dear, I shouldn't have watched the marathon last night. It got me worked up all over again when they were questioning the wearability of Austin's Banana Republic dress! I can't get over how gorgeous it is...I'm actually planning to make my prom dress this year, and after seeing that dress yet again, I'm thinking if I can find the appropriate fabric, I'm going to do a variation of it. Mind, it won't be nearly as good as Austin's, but the thought will be there.

Question here, isn't the competition to help an aspiring designer launch their own line? Wendy and Vanessa already HAVE their own lines. But it looks like Jay (http://jaymccarroll.com/) and Kara (http://us.movies1.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/he/
photo/movie_pix/oscars/72nd_academy_awards_photos/
queen_latifah/oscars.jpg) have experience, but not necessarily their own companies. Seems like this should contest should be a break for someone to get started, not just marketing for an existing designer. What do you think?

I think Austin, by far, has the most talent of anyone on the show. His fashions have been wonderful. His vision for episode 2 (Envy) was a bit off but the dress was great. And I think his dress for the Banana Republic challenge is something straight out of the 1950's. Simply FABULOUS.
GO AUSTIN!

Austin has talent, this is clear... some of the others as well, like Robert, Kara, Nora, and maybe Alexandra. The others need to get sent home, I will enjoy watching their anguished faces as they are told Auf Wiedersehen by Heidi..
Great show, best reality show out there, also like the Model spin on this, 2 reality shows in one..

Okay guys, I've said it once and I’ll say it again--I’m sick of the Wendy bashing. Yes, I do know her--I modeled for her a while back and while I realize that she has said some pretty ruthless things on the show--she is not a bad person. This is reality TV--things are cut and pasted and edited and scrapped to maximize the drama. We are not seeing who these people really are--just a caricature of some aspect of their personalities deemed most marketable by the producers (as is the hair and make-up—they have people for that too!). So yeah, what we’ve seen of Wendy on the show—sure she’s easy to love to hate—but just remember that she’s a lot more dynamic of a person than they are showing her to be, she is a mother—willing to exploit it or not—she has an adorable daughter, she is a daughter, she is a friend and whether you like what you’ve seen thus far or not—she is a designer and she competed against thousands of others to be there, thus she deserves a shot at this just as much as the others. And her lack of confidence? So she’s human, she is being nationally scrutinized and she would rather not have the masses dwell on her faults and weaknesses—can you blame her? And how do we know that all she did was stand there—her dress got bids—she must have done something! Wouldn’t it just make perfect editing sense to splice pictures of her standing there with no one around after a confessional in which she says she’s not good at this stuff…basically guys—this is reality TV—TV being the key word, not reality.

No, Wendy's dress is not mediocre at best. She did a great job of understanding the challenge, and creating the right garnment for it. Risht color, right cut, right design. very marketable.
Unfortunately, as wonderful as Jay's design might have been, it was way to difficult to produce in quantity, this is why he didn't win.
Now, sorry, but my fav' still remains Kevin. Independently if he's not such a "hotty" as Robert (who did a real bad job this time), or if he doesn't have the "great bone structure" of Austin... Kevin's dress was fitting the BR challenge, and the cut was a step up. It was just perfect - and if anybody knows how to get to a web-site of his, I'd appreciate your help ! thanks.

I just watched the PR for the first time over the holiday-reruns. Great show! The challenges are really interesting - just wish the camera showed more of the outfits on the runway - like photo stills or different angles. I can't see why everyone is so crazy about Austin, though. His first dress was really creative, but the other two, esp the BananaRepublic one, was so frilly and over-the-top. I can't imagine any of the stylish women in NYC wearing that - maybe in the Midwest or the South. But as far as designing chic clothes - looks like Kevin, Kara, Jay, and Alexandra. Now that Starr and Daniel are gone, looks like it will be close competition amongst the rest.

New York's "fashionable women" are boring and blase. They where whatever people tell them is "in." Preconvieved notions of what's cool or uncool are not important to Austin- that's why (nearly) everyone is crazy about him. Real women don't want to wear silly runway "chic." We want to feel/look/be beautiful. Most women would love to wear Austin's sort of clothes, but since society tells us it's not cool, few do. But that doesn't mean he's any less talented than the others. Look at Alexandra's first two designs- they were both tube dresses. An 8th grader can sew a tube dress. Austin challenges himself while challenging the very idea of what women ought to be. That's why he is such a great designer, and therefore, so magnetic.

To all the Wendy lovers:
You're just as brainwashed and manipulated as the rest of the designers on PR!!! Don't you get it? It's soooooo obvious of her sneaky tactics. Surprisingly having Kevin's dye and then her dress having black straps... a little too obvious there Wendy. C'mon now. I'm glad Vanessa's on to her. I hope the rest of them are getting to their senses too!

Austin's designs were far from "frilly and over-the-top" they were all beautiful pieces that are designed to appeal to women, which they do, and they also reflect a lot of emotion and depth.

i completely agree, the dress that wendy made refelcted nothing of her personal style or emotion. It was simply a play-by-the-rules design and the garment was flattering to the model, but wouldn't be to 'real' women. I see the dress as a simple tube dress with very little detail, and while it does fit Banana's simple and natural feel, it was not creative enough to win.
I concur on Austin's dress too... The material he used was one that was presented to him as a Banana Republic fabric, and i think that the judges were out of line dismissing his idea of a 'winter floral'. They dismissed his design as not fitting in with the typical Banana style, but I feel that his garment fit perfectly with the collection that Banana had described as "grandma's attic". It was so beautiful and flattering, and I contradict the judges' oppinions because I would love to wear a dress like that.

i love Austin's round 3 dress as well, his designs are awesome
I can't wait to see the fourth episode, but I wish they would let the designers do thier job without getting in their way so much. I don't agree with picking the winner based on how much money somebody bid for it. The challenges are all awesome because they test the abilities of the designers to be inovative, but I think some of the stress they put on the 'drama' in the show is out of line

Did I imagine this?
Or did I hear (on Bravo) in a new preview today, Austin saying "We didn't know this when we were picking them!!" as he was crying?
Could the drama be something about the models? Something happened to a booted one? What else could "them" refer to in his sentence?

Yes, but people choose how they act. Also, the way I see it is, not everyone in the world has the opportunity to get to know Wendy personally and most of us never will. We can only go by what we see her doing and so far, she's chosen to be a conniving player, openly admitting that she will lie, steal, and use everything she see's and hear's to her advantage. I mean, this is the woman who stated, point blank, that she will exploit her motherhood if it'll help her win! TV editors can only work with what you give them and if you're willing to let them dictate how you act, whether it's to punch up the show or what, well....that gets into a question of integrity that I'm not going into.
Bottom line, Wendy is choosing to act this way, and we can only take her at face value.

For me it's not about what she can or cannot do. I'm Wendy's age and I was pulling for her to do well in the competition (though I want Austin to win). The down side came for me when she started to be connivin'. You don't use motherhood as a way of exploiting other people's feelings...no matter what it is for! It's beyond rude, it's selfish! And she has a daughter, so what? So do I...so do alot of people but we don't whine and b*tch and use other people in the wrong way to try to promote ourselves over them. This show isn't even about that, it's about creativity. I liked her portfolio alot but I don't care how much I like it, her attitude just makes everything ugly. And standing there and editing don't have anything to do with what came out of her own mouth. For all that, yeah, we have a right to bash!

I'll admit to being a [expletive deleted] hag - I LOVE gay men...but this show deals with creativity (said so many times). Jay is also gay but I wouldn't want to be in his company, he's a GREAT designer but his mouth is too extreme. Even though Austin is not interested in the fairer sex, Austin has the kind of personality that treats a woman like a lady and it shows in his work. I wouldn't call that juvenile, I'd call that classy.

Its still too early for me to pick who will be the top 3 yet. I like Austin, Jay, Robert (well I LOVE him!), Kara, and Nora.

Kevin isn't among the final three contestant, that I know for a fact.
He's trying to get corporate sponsorship for his fashion show in next Feb.

I'm getting the idea that the "twist" is in regards to the models they choose. Looks like the model Austin chose, Morgan, get's booted after a twist in the selection process. Which would explain why she is crying and he's yelling at the camera.
I think that the models get randomly switched at the last minute, and the person who gets morgan doesn't want her and that's why she's crying.
Nora is cool, and has great potential, I think, but her envy dress was ill-fitted and boring.
Alexandra is super strong, but I feel that she is overlooked because they have to get rid of the crazies first, and then it will become showdown with Alexandra, Kara, Austin, and Jay having to really challenge themselves.
Kevin bugs me, and I think his stuff is pretty generic.
And poor Starr!!! She needs some backround...her imagination would take on some structure with some classes. Dump the law, girl! Nothing like arguing briefs to supress creativity. You only live once.
