Hey, how did you think the Fab Five did to spread holiday cheer to the Moon family?

Ummmm, after seeing that Hip Tip, does anybody have any smelling salts and oxygen so that we can revive the Angels?
jimwy
Hi! I was just watching the Queer Guys Christmas special, and there was some background music that I'd LOVE to get my hands on.

During the show, they were making cookies, and the music was an instrumental version of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing".

It's a "jazzy" version from the 70's... We had this, and others on an 8-track tape when I was a kid. We still have the tape, but there's nothing on it that reveals who it was, and the record company has long since gone out of business.

Does anyone know where I could find this music?

Thanks,

Jim Whaley

OOPS- sorry. All I'll say is don't turn the TV off until you watch the hip tips at the end.

Hi Jim!!
I haven't seen the ep yet, but at the top of the page is a little tab that reads "Music" and if you click on that it'll take you to the music that they play each episode. I just checked it and it doesn't have the Christmas ep yet, it still has the stuff from John's ep.

Welcome to the boards!! I hope you stay and post often!!

What a bummer that you picked a family that has everything they could ever need AND that don't take care of it....there are more deserving out there of your excellent skills

Thanks for the tip, I didn't see that! I hope it shows up there!

Jim, in the credits, it lists Kevin Holmes & Ian Gibson for part of the music. Additional music credit goes to Exteme Music, First Com Music, Omni Music and Opus 1 Music.

You could probably check someplace like Amazon.com for their music.

Good Luck,

Actually, I'm probably a little too protective and serious about Jai for my own good, and since I'm not an "angel" shouldn't be commenting anyway, but I was kind of embarressed for Jai and a little insulted that they would have him do that AGAIN (Remember the famous photo with Kyan holding his fingers apart an inch?). They would NEVER have any of the others drop their pants like that, but he's always treated like a toy instead of a grown man *sighs* But I'm sure all the fangirls will squeal and drool, so the directors gets kudos for good strategic marketing.

This was an amazing show though which I can't wait to watch again in ten minutes, so I can respond to it properly. This was well worth the wait.

On the episode, Ted made some delicious looking treats for the family. Did anyone catch the recipe for the pancake dish? I would love to try it out. I think he called it a Bismark? Thanks!

I loved how the boys got to work together so much in this episode. It's so refreshing to see them teaching things together instead of always one at a time. It worked out well that they got to use their talents, too, even Jai, who usually gets screwed in that respect -- the only one who didn't have to work in his specialty was Kyan. And the boys were so good with the kids, even when they were being total brats. Not to mention, boys in pajamas... awwww.

The only thing that was a tad disappointing is that the original promos, when they were looking for a family to do, made it sound like they were looking for a poor family, a family with like eight kids and no time or money to be able to do anything nice or super-stylish for the holiday. These people hardly needed the boys' help -- sure, they needed a hand coming up with ideas for new holiday traditions, but they certainly weren't hurting for, say, good food, or nice clothes, or money to get presents for the kids. It's too bad they couldn't find a family that needed their help more.

Purple pants?! A little ick?
I love the picture!! This is so sweet! I want them to be in my town for Christmas!!!
That toast was so sweet I wanted to cry, but I’m too happy to cry!

I thought this one was very sweet, although I agree they should've helped a family who needed it more. I loved all the little kids and how everyone helped build the Habitat for Humanity house. My favorite lines:
.*little girl gives zebra shorts to Carson*
Carson: "Animal prints make my hips look big"
Girl: "Duh."
Carson: "Everyone knows that."
.Jai: "Put a sock in it Ryan."
.Ted: "The kids should be waking up the old people."
Thom(?): "But we're not old."

Loved the outfits Carson hooked the kids up with.

A new episode means more Kyan! I knew he just couldn't stay away after being in my lovin' arms last Saturday!{Okay, I know, "MGK, just shut up about that and get on with posting about the episode."}
They should've just called this one "Queer Eye for the Straight Family". It was informative and entertaining, but I can't wait until they get back to their regular shows, because they showed too much of the family and not enough of Kyan. My favorite part was his Hip Tip because I got to look into those beautiful brown eyes while he spoke. He maintained good eye contact at the Learning Annex, too. I found myself trying to look away every now and then so that he wouldn't feel like I was staring at him too hard. {Oh, there I go again rambling} Ky looked hot even in his safety goggles and personalized worksuit with a tool on the back of it. Hey Ky, if you ever need help handling your tool, just let me know. I liked Ky's tasteful PJs and when I saw him in his sleeping bag, I kept thinking that there's got to be room enough for me to squeeze in there with him!

Hated Carson's furry hat. It was funny when he found panties everywhere. Carson's humor is usually adult, so it was interesting to see how he'd do with these kids. I'm glad he flirted with the dad at the end of the fashion show. Notevayas, you're a contractor's assistant, right? I thought of you when I saw Carson all decked out in the pink worksuit! Imagine him showing up like that at your worksite. Carson's Hip Tip with Jai in it was cool.
Jai looked cute with ornaments on his ears. He looked like he had so much fun playing with the kids.
I think Ted had a good rapport with the children. That oven baked pancake looked "duh-lish-us!"
I liked the bayleaf wreath and the theater and the idea for the play.
Maybe appearances are deceiving, but the mom needed to smile more often, because she usually looked so strict and serious.

That one had me rolling on the floor!

Well, that and the, "What time is it?" "Couture Time!"

Hilarious....Oh, and I loved that bay leaf wreath. Beautiful, but then, consider the source!

I can just imagine the editor-folk who created that... "sweet, we're doing another Christmas episode? Great, we can get another use out of that intro from last year. "
jais_girl
I don't know if you guys checked the synopsis for their episode, but here it is:

THE FAB FIVE CONQUER CHRISTMAS
(with apologies to Clement Clarke Moore)

'Twas a bit before Christmas, and up in their loft,
Sat five fabulous men, well dressed and well coifed.

They knew of a couple, a man and a lady,
With five kids, a bunch — just one shy of a Brady.

"Oh, how keen it would be," they asked of themselves,
"If we could drop by and be their Christmas elves?"

"We'll help them create a new family tradition,
"And makeover Christmas — how's that for a mission?"

I enjoyed the show,I know everyone thought it should of been a family with more "needs". I'm thinking why not do two shows one with the family they did and one with a family with more needs...the more QE the better...I also loved how the guys shared their knowledge in finding creative ways to deck the house out...helping with habitat...cutting ones own trees, decorations well when does Thom NOT sparkle...Ted making delicious food with a twinkle in his eye...Carson and Jai working with the kids with a sense of humor and not least Kyan..its hard to find a calming moment with 5 kids thou the parents could of use his expertise in relaxing (a down time).

They're parents of 5 kids. There is NO downtime.
I'm from a large family like that and the older I get, the more convinced my mother had (and still has) the patience of a saint.

I had the opportunity to do a Habitat for Humanity day with my work colleagues. I helped shingle a roof! Great organization & a very rewarding experience. I liked how they taught these kids to help others like this because at this age is when things sink in.

I need to try that ham/egg thingy that Ted made. Looked delicious.
tomasulo
Sounds like several people would have liked to see a needier family get helped by the FF, but it was good that they incorporated Habitat for Humanity into the "make better". Children learn best by example so it was great that the guys had the parents (as well as the kids) beginning a holiday tradition that benefits less fortunate families. Hopefully this will be like a pebble tossed in a lake....it may seem like a small gesture but the ripple effect goes on and on...maybe for generations. They can "gay" it forward, so to speak.

I couldn't take my eyes off Thom in this episode. And how amazing was he with those kids? The patience and affection, the ability to listen and respond without "talking down" to them, these are gifts that most parents struggle to achieve.....and this guy has those qualities in abundance! I can't even put into words what's going on in my head and my heart. I know I'll have more to say after I watch the ep again this afternoon.....so as our (choke...gag) governor says, "I'll be back!".
luvisthom
I have to agree with tomasulo, I could no take my eyes off of Thom....my god...his hair, those waves, his jammies, his smile....and his patience with those kids was fantastic....he truly would make a great dad!

now back to his hair....his smile......his jammies........his hair.......the waves........~*...uh oh there goes the room..........spinning, spinning........**~~ THUD
Dana_Angelica
Hello!

Another person who would have liked to see a needier family helped *sigh* But the decorations were gorgeous! Very worthy of Better Homes and Gardens!

And I would also love the recipes! I guess I'll just have to have a pen an paper ready to jot down the ingredients and cooking times again!

tomasulo, I couldn't agree with more....like I said in my reply earlier why not have 2 christmas shows...its hard enough to cram so much in an hour,or expand to a 2 hour christmas special....

I'm mad now. I only got to see HALF of it. The beginning half. It was really cute, and the fab 5 with the kids were HILARIOUS. I really needed QE....but I didn't get to see the brunch, play, or hiptip. Oh, well. I'm gonna watch the rest of it today at three. But the first half was really good! I loved it when the kids screamed when they came down the stairs and saw the Fab 5.

BBB, does that mean you wrote it, or a general thanks for a compliment to the site?

Hey you guys, Boss has been watching out for us. Good thing we've been naughty and not nice. Strike that, reverse it. BBB, which check is by my name on the gift list? I've been trying to be angelic and keep these rowdy hooligans in check. Well, theoretically...I meant to get to that.

For Christmas, I'd like the pajamas Thom was wearing, with a personalized note.

Thank you for the best present ever, keeping the Board unmoderated. Anyway, I hope you like the double chocolate cookies I left out for you,

P.S. Happy Holidays! And please say the same to Thom, Kyan, Jai, Ted and Carson for us.

This episode was cute - Thom was drop-dead, kickmebacktolife GORGEOUS!!! Loved them in their work suits (especially Carson's), the volunteer work for habitat for humanity, and their interaction with the kids was incredible...ESPECIALLY Thom. Fatherhood is a natural part of who he is, anyone could see that. Hopefully everyone caught the "maternity" commercial with them in it, I screamed and recorded it twice!

The family in this special was very nice, very likeable...but, as others have stated, I really would have liked to have seen them work with a truly needy family. The habitat for humanity work was a nice slice of time but a whole show dedicated to someone who really needed it would have been an exceptional moment in time. Two shows, like someone suggested, would have worked and I don't not like this episode...it just felt like something was missing when I was hit with the expanse of that house.

I really liked the show maybe it has to do with my guilty pleasure of liking "The Brady Bunch." Anyway, I thought the boys were great with the kids even when they were hitting them in the stomach-poor Carson!

I didn't see enough of my my fave boy Kyan like I would of but enjoying seeing him making the shelf with that tool belt on! No comments because MGK already said them, LOL!

I also enjoyed them in the sleeping bags and yes me too MGK I wanted to slip inside Kyan's sleeping bag. Anybody noticed when they first showed them that Jai was holding a stuffed animal and Thom and Carson had their arms around each other? At first when they said they were gonna be sleeping overnight I thought maybe they'd put all 5 together in a bed. Maybe too much for us to handle?!

Speaking of that-when I saw the Hip Tip with Jai I said OMG JG is gonna slide off her chair! Sure that made all the Angels smile!

As I said I liked this episode and look forward to the new ones in January!

I really liked this one too. I enjoyed how different it was from the usual episode. And my theory is both Thom and Carson have spent quite a bit of time with kids - I bet they have nieces and/or nephews. Those kids were REALLY cute, too. They made me miss my own nieces and nephews being little and inventive and fun. Not that they aren't STILL fun, but the youngest is 15 and it's just not the same.

Carson has one niece who's around pre-teen/early teen. Kyan and Ted both have three nieces/nephews (don't know the gender or ages of any of them). Jai doesn't have any. Don't know about Thom.

Hey Naomi, Check to see if I'm right,Thom may have 2 nieces with his brother James being in CA.......

Pumpkin Thommy WOULD DEFINETLY make a fantastic daddy.
There were so many funny parts for this eppy:
When he: woke up from the sleeping bag and had to pull up his blue and white jammie bottoms, his cool shining sungalsses in the van, his hunter green hoodie and red jean jacket....playing peek-a-boo with the tennis raquets, butt view near the fireplace, putting soap foam on his lovable hands, just like a daddy w/ a son, putting him on his shoulders.
Which reminds me....my family would go to a resort ever August with another family and this family had 3 bois. The oldest and second oldest, I would always be on the shoulders-like how Thommy picked up Ryan. When he tucked the kids in and was playing with those red slippers on the bed...the pony tail on top of his head...the hip tip....it ws super awesome to see Thommy interact with the little ones. How Thommy carried the kids around.... But my fave part had to of been when Thommy woke up and had to pull up those pants....WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR FAVE THOMMY MOMENTS????
WHEN HE SAID: (smiling in the van) "I Love It"
(to Jai)" Thats the most tasteful thing you've ever worn"
(naughty Thommy-w/ that doll) "skank"
(regarding the dining room) "Love It"
(tree scene) ..."angry father when he has a sharp saw"
(to Ted)"Ted so helpful"
"Booger Soup"
(after Carson said, "World peace and a boyfriend")...Thommy lauged
(to on of the girls in the family)" homecoming queen"

They played it on Sunday, but they didn't play the hip tips at the end! I'm begging, someone please tell me what happened!! *goes out of desperate mode*

Hi Jamie,

We were talking about this in General Comments, so I copied my post from there:

I watched it again today and thought I saw a scene which I did not remember from the first airing (which would perhaps have taken the time from the hip tips). In the first Tuesday night showing, was there a scene where Kyan brought in a gentleman from an AIDS charity and asked the kids to donate something of theirs to give to other families???

No, there wasn't. I believe my tape is from the first airing. Mine has the tips at the end, but not the HIV/AIDS charity scene. But I remember that scene from a repeat, and it ends with Carson bringing out the kids' pajamas.

In my tape you hear Kyan saying off camera: "Everybody come in here, hello!" That's when it should've started, but instead it cuts to Carson bringing in the pajamas. Maybe that's why there's no tips at the end, to make time to put back the scene. Good for them. I'll tape that part too. Thanks for the heads up.

Isa

Thom was showing the kids how to make a tree topper. He folded a piece of construction paper so it was (supposed to be) an inch wide. One of the girls (her name is Sophie) said "That's not an inch" and one of her sisters said "Go with it, Soph". The foamy soap moment was cute....but, of course, I think everything Thom does is priceless.
