I talked to my son (who is rediscovering his Celtic roots) last night and he said he has joined an Irish crowd who DON'T wear green or orange! They will be wearing white today to signify their desire to have a united, peaceful Ireland. So, I'm wearing a white blouse and black jeans but I couldn't resist the green socks with shamrocks (they must grow all through Ireland, right?) and a teddy bear leprechaun (they also must live all through Ireland).
Happy Ireland day to all. And may peace reign!

He ended up having a double bypass - they went back and forth about a bypass or angioplasty, but ended up doing a bypass. He was REALLY lucky - he had a very mild heart attack, and when he started having symptoms in the middle of the night he called the ambulance immediately. So it wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been.
I've heard about the vein thing too - my father-in-law had a large portion of his leg vein removed also and it gave him a lot of pain. My dad just has a tiny incision. It's amazing what they can do now. He's in the VA, which always worries me because they seem very slapdash and casual about everything, but apparently they have excellent heart surgeons.
Did your father do well after his? That's a lot of bypasses - my father had a quadruple too, and did quite well - hope your dad did also!
Glad to hear your dad's recovering okay. The sooner he gets active again, the better off he'll be. And good for him recognizing the syptoms and being willing to do something immediately!! Smart man!! My Dad was very annoyed at having to have surgery. He'd changed his diet years before to a lower fat, lower sodium and lower calorie. We'd always had green salad AND green vegetable at dinner almost every night and he was most annoyed that his cholesterol was still too high and caused blockage!
He still claims he didn't have a heart attack, although symptoms preceding surgery suggest otherwise. And he'd had a (luckily) very small stroke previously. He's never recovered fully from either - but he's recovered enough that he and mom still go to their antique car club meetings every month, still support the local EAA chapter, still are marginally involved in the local Lewis & Clark Historical Society - and heaven only knows what else!!
My other half was an RN for 12 years and the year dad had surgery had gone back to school to become a PA. When we knew dad was having surgery we took our laptop home with us and showed dad a presentation on the surgery and were able to tell him what to expect - before, during and immediatly after. And he had surgery at a hospital where we had friends in the CCU/ICU nursing staff, so we had 'inside' info at all times.
I, too, have my suspicions about the VA sometimes - but they do tend to have great surgeons. And their ER/triage staff are also excellent. I think alot of the negative image is just their administration and unfairly spills over to the medical personnel.
Heeeey!
I just wanna say that I've been reading these posts and I just wanna tell you all who has a sick family member at home, that I'm praying so much for the recovering and I'm sure God's gonna be with you, protecting and healing each cell of this person's body! You all be sure that Iyou all mean so much to me, and you're in my prayers and best thoughts for sure!!! :-)
Many kisses and hugs,

I didn't sleep for a week after I saw Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time. I think the part where Johnny Depp gets sucked under the bed scared me the most. Poltergeist was pretty scary, too, particularly when the clown attacks the boy. AIEE! My parents have the exact same chandelier that was used in the movie. You can see it in the scene where the ghosts are coming down the stairs when the paranormal investigators are keeping watch.
OMG, OMG, OMG!!!! I can't even remember of the clown's Poltergeist scene!!! I'm not kiddin', I still can't sleep with my hands od feet off the bed b/c I think that the clown's gonna get my hand and bite me... I'm not kiddin'! I'm 19 and I'm still afraid of it, and afraid of the dark too! Geez, ridiculous me, huh?!? LOL
THE RING... Oh boy, oh boy... If that's not scray, I don't know what's scary movie anymore!!! Geez, it made me feek so much fear, you have no idea... Oh, and I'm also scared of The Texas Chainsaw massacre, b/c Leatherface has such a horrible 'face'... And that chainsaw... Oh man... I guess I'd die before he killed me! LOL

Yeah, raindog... I gotta tell ya that I miss the times when children used to play with their Barbies or balls... Nowadays, children are so advanced that they don't actually interact with other children anymore, if it's not through the computer... It's very hard to educate your children like that, in my oppinion, b/c I've always learned that the basis to a solid life experience is on the sharing, the physical contact and the interaction w/ the others...
May I ask your oppinion about this whole issue that I brought up?!?
