I get out of bed to turn off my alarm clock. I purposely leave it on the other side of the room so I have to get up to turn it off.

I do that, too. There was one time when my foot was asleep and I didn't realize it, so I fell flat on my face when I went to turn it off.

Can anyone else speak different languages? Write in a foreign language? SPANISH, ITALIAN? FRENCH?
I took three years of French in high school, it's easier for me to read it than speak it. Also, I know little bits and pieces of German, since alot of my friends took it.
Je parle un tres, tres, petit peu de francais. J'etude la langue pour quatre ans, mais j'ai oublie beaucoup de ma vocabulaire.
Wow, I actually understood that! "I speak very, very little French. I studied for 4 years, but I...have alot of trouble with my vocabulary"(?)
Very Good, MB! Actually, if I phrased it right, the last part is "but I forgot a lot of my vocabulary." The last time I actually used my limited French was in Tahiti and NE Oz - many, many, many years ago.

What enviroment would you love to relax in?
I would love the beach/lake theme. Listening to the waves of the ocean.
I dream of going home to the beach - Pacific NW - Every morning when I turn on my computer I go to a web site for a lovely old hotel on the coast and shrink the window down to very small. The background stream on their web site is the ocean so I listen to it all day. It's just about the only thing that saves my sanity!

PoohBear, just have to tell you that I found some Rogue Shakespeare this past week - that may be the best thing I've ever had in my LIFE. And I found it at an excellent time. I was staying with my mother, because my father had to have bypass surgery.
Raindog - how's your father doing? Hope he's out for a walk every day and going to cardiac rehab!
How are you and your mom holding up?

I'm going on personal experiance here. I am homosexual. I was always homosexual. Therefore, I was born homosexual. It's the same as your being straight, DD. You are straight. You were always straight. Therefore, you were born straight. Nothing happened to make you straight same as nothing happened to make me homosexual.

Not "was," "is." Thom is gay, not was gay. And yes, Thom was always gay. I don't know if he always knew. You see he might have, at one point, been so in denial that he was closeted even to himself. I don't know. Everyone is different. But one thing is for sure; he was born gay.

A long time ago, I heard Larry King try to explain it to a guest on his t.v. show who believed homosexuality was a choice. (I probably won't do justice to his explanation but I thought it made it pretty clear at the time.) King said that as a heterosexual, he doesn't remember "deciding" to be attracted to the opposite sex. He said it probably works the same way for homosexuals....it's not a "decision" or a choice no matter at what point in your life you acknowledge it or act upon it.

During the Fall term, I had to write a paper on homosexuality for my philosophy class and in the research of it, I found that many people who believe that its a choice thinks that because they can't stand to think that their God created humans who went against the natural order.
There was one scientist who said he found a 'homosexuality gene,' but no one has been able to duplicate his results.
There are some who think its a disease and with reparative therapy, they can be 'cured' of it. There was one man who says that through his church's support group, he was 'cured' of his homosexuality, but critics of reparative therapy believe that he wasn't gay and instead, bisexual. Critics also believe that therapy can be more harmful than beneficial by making the patient think that there is something really wrong with them, leading to suicide attempts.
It is my firm belief that if a person is homosexual, they are born that way. I didn't make a conscious decision to be straight and my homosexual friends didn't make a conscious decision to be homosexual.

I knew a gay man from work who told me that he did date girls in high school. He said it was before he discovered that he was gay and he dated the girls because that's what all the other guys did and he felt that he should too even though he said he felt "weird" because he never felt attracted to them. He later figured out that his real attraction was to men.
