Oh Goody! We have a part three! Anyway, I just had an idea, tomasulo. Why don't you cast unknowns in your little movie? That's what George Lucas did in the origional Star Wars trilogy. Unknown actors cost a lot less and you can still find some pretty good ones if you're willing to cast around.

I think that really is the best idea. To be honest, I don't plan on doing the casting....I see myself sitting on the set in a chair that says "Head Screenwriter" on the back (little double entendre there.....hey, get your minds out of the boudoir!), sipping vodka martinis with.....oh, who do you think? Does any name in particular come to mind? But I do enjoy throwing around names for the part of Devon.

Tomasulo, I got the message:
As I stated in my reply to Rjaye's post about straight women liking gay men, I totally get the concept of falling for an amazing person outside of the boundaries of gender and sexuality. Unfortunately, some people don't seem to grasp this. We've already seen how some gay men react to women fawning over the Fab 5 on message boards, so I would imagine that reading your screenplay would give these guys heart attacks. This is totally not your fault. In every civil rights movement there are those that use the struggle to jsutify their personal grudges and chips on their shoulders. I would never want you to change your work to spare the feelings of oversensitive people. There's a fine line between being sensitive and inabling which many people take advantage of.

Okay, I sort of skimmed through the screenplay. I liked the beginning where they are at the AIDS hospice; it's kinda the rest of it that kinda rubs me the wrong way. Honestly, it's a little bit offensive. I'm not very offended since I understand that this screenplay is just a fantasy. What really bothers me is that Thom's sexuality changes. It sort of goes against one of the major messages that I get from Queer Eye. Queer Eye makes me think that being gay is really okay. Because a lot of people, even in Massachusetts, think that being gay is bad. I had to really struggle before I came out. I dated a lot of boys, none of whom I was attracted to. I struggled with having crushes on girls, which I kept putting in the back of my minds. Heck, I even watched some porn. But no matter how much I wanted to like boys, I just didn't. I was struggling to accept the fact that I was never going to like boys when I saw Queer Eye. Here were these men, perfectly accepting of the fact that they were gay, and they didn't get any crap about it! These men knew that they were never going to like girls not matter how much they wanted to and they were perfectly okay with it! In a way, they became role models to me; definitely people I look up to. So you see, it kinda hurts me when you change my role model's sexuality, because I know mine never will. Does that make sense?

You know what, I have to comment on this....I,too, have read tomasulo's screenplay, and I admit, in the beginning, (and TTB can attest to this), I was kind of..uh..not put off with Thom being with a woman...but I just didn't know how to react. He is gay, you know. But you know what, Thom is the kind of man, eventhough we all know he's gay, that you can see with a woman. I'm writing a fantasy soap on another site called, "The Gay and The Restless" about the guys and different situations that they get into. And I incorporated Thom meeting a woman and having such strong feelings for her, that eventually he slept with her. Now he is struggling with his feelings of being gay. I know it's just a fantasy, but my point is that we all do know that he is gay, but we still can fantasize that he can have feelings for a woman.
I don't know why, but Thom is just that kind of man. So witchgirl, I'm happy you have found your true self, you go girl!!!...and I'm certainly not trying to take away the fact that Thom is gay and is proud of it. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say.

I completely understand what you're trying to say. I believe that people should be able to fantasize about what ever they want. That's why I'm not all that offended, because I understand that it was just a fantasy.

HEY, GUYS!!!
I'm sorry, what did I miss?!? lol Tomasulo, hun, can you send me a copy of the screenplay too?!? I love reading it, plus my aunt directs plays and she organizes lots of huge events here, so if you agree, I could ask her, after reading the screenplay, some suggestions for you, what d'you think? She'd be very happy in helping you, hun!
Oh, the idea of casting unknowns is great, like wichgirl said, that's how Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harisson Ford started and now they're just so very famous! The same thing goes to Hayden Christensen, who's now known as THE Darth Vader, THE Anakin Skywalker... I think it's a great idea, specially if you have talent enough to go further with everything you do, and you seem to be such a very persistant and intelligent person for me!
I was reading some other posts about your screenplay, tomasulo, and it seems to be so interesting! I wrote a fan fiction once for an actor, and sent it to his site and it was posted in there, but the site's off the air now and I lost the copy of it with the virus that my computer got last week... *sniff*
Tomasulo, I hope you can send me a copy of your screenplay, and if you want me to, I can ask some advices to my aunt and I hope you can use it as best as possible, dear!!!
Oh, by the way, CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF US for the '3rd chapter' of "General Comments"!!! lol YAAAY!!! *jumping like Carson and dancing like my cute Teddy*

Heeey, Isa!!! Yeah, I know the time thing is pretty complicated, since I'm in Brazil... Mmmm.. but thanks God it's not too hot in here anymore! I mean, it's hot, but not THAT hot! lol During the afternoon I think the temperature got into 100 degrees, it was definatelly horrible! But it rained tonight, at 10pm, and since that time it's not too hot anymore... Now I think the temperature is about 89 to 91 degrees... Wich I think it's about 22, 25 ºC... There's a nice wind blowing now... It's 'deeeelicious'! lol *wink*
Oh, and now it's exactly 3:30 am in here! Pretty late, huh?!?

What it reminded me of in a sense was The Crying Game. When Fergus discovers that Dil is not a woman, and then has to face how he feels about Dil, preconceived notions aside. He's not gay and Dil isn't a woman, but the way they feel about each other goes way beyond gender and sex. I was fascinated with that aspect of the Crying Game. It wasn't an attempt to turn someone into what they aren't, but dealing with feelings that go beyond the physical.

"Coming out" to one's self can be hard for some. A fair amount of us have encountered persons who, for one reason or another, can not admit their sexual orientation to either themselves or others. They'll hem and haw and shuffle their feet. Perhaps they'll admit to being bi-sexual without looking one square in the face. (As if it gives them license to do whatever they like without making a commitment) It's unfortunate. Before making judgements, I usually apply the "DUCK TEST."
"If it quacks like a duck and acts like a duck (in bed), I call it a duck."
so sez Supe, "Qwack, quack!"************************************************************

My favorite of the boys in Kyan because he's so sweet. In all actuality, I don't get to the movies that often.
