Thanks for the fantastic recaps, Naomi! I love how Ted just keeps bringing up Barry. And that story about burning his hand explains why, in his section of the QE book, he's so adamant about using a potholder when you take the cast iron pan out of the oven. Actually, he doesn't even say use a potholder - he says use one of those gloves that fit your whole hand. I thought it was kind of funny how emphatic he was about that.

Thank you, Naomi. So often, Ted's humor is "under the radar" until he comes in for the kill! That is why he is a fave of mine, but I have also always been a bit intimidated by him. As time passes, he seems more fun and less snark, and his joking, as you let us 'hear', seems more natural and carefree. The previews of him practising cheers with the proffessional Dallas cheerleaders with the pompoms and all.. was really funny.
I think it is true that the Fab Five, while friends, would get on each other's nerves after a long shoot. I'm glad they deal with some of their aggression with humor. I hope Thom is still not shutting people up in closets and basements.. lol! I was the far youngest, and I remember being stuffed in the laundrycloset. When caught, my sisters would say.. "It was just a joke." At school, the bullies thought they were a laugh riot also, until my sisters would get their boyfriends after them on my behalf. So I have this love/hate thing with humor I guess.
I'm going to have to puzzle this out later with my psuedo-intellectual bean. Thank you again, Naomi.. and also for all the information at Carson's that I never thanked you for. Miss Manners I aint. But you knew that..

That is one of my favorite things about Ted also, that Barry is central in his life. I never have gotten the feeling that Ted brings up Barry extraneously to make political statement. They are very much the bonded couple.
I am very happy that Thom and Kyan have found boyfriends, but it very much confused me in the beginning that Carson, Thom and Kyan who were almost 30 or over were single when they were such extroadinary men, living openly in gay friendly neighborhoods. And that is silly, because many straight people are single and half that marry divorce anyway.. even with societal approval to stay together.
I think, for me, it comes down to the issue of trust. It is so hard to find a man to trust, that I always assumed when it happened, that would be that.
And then I was reading interviews where the guys would laugh and say that everyone who wanted to date them was female. And I thought that certainly couldn't be true, could it? Well, it seems that three of the five have a monogamous relationship. Ted has held on to his husband through all the QE craziness. And that is comforting to me because it's a very hostile world and worthwhile men are very challenging to hold on to. Ted is my hero for his priorities as well as his recipes and humor.

Ted's remark about having a "friend" who wants to date Thom made me wonder what's happening with Thom and Greg. He goes on to say they're all really great - sometimes he does want to kill them ("I haven't seen them for four days, right now I don't want to kill them at all!) - but they're all great friends.
This just cracks me up! They sound just like me and my siblings. We tease & make fun of each other constantly, but we're best of friends. As one of them mentioned on the Thanksgiving episode, they're a "family by choice".

I just got around to listening to Monday's show. It was pretty good. A lot of it was technical talk about wine, which I didn't follow very well, but Ted was funny. He made a pretty dirty joke (about oral sex). And he talked about Barry a bit, too.
John introduces Ted and starts by mentioning they were recently in Florida making over the Red Sox. Ted told a funny story about wearing the Red Sox cap they gave him on the plane home, and the (New York-based) air hostesses saying, "we're going to be putting you in a center seat that doesn't recline, sir, and about that hat..."
A fave Ted moment was when(not sure which parti. eppy) Thom and Ted where using walkie talkies.....something to the effect of THOMY calling Ted a moron.
And of course THOMY picking up Ted(Bravo twins)
Saying he's "not a young man anymore"-walking out with a recent straight guy.
THOMY loves to tease Ted..
AAAAAAAAAWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!
I love Teddy sooooo much! I wish I could have seen this show... Yep, Thom loves to tease my poor and sweet Ted! Shame on you, Thommie!!! Kiddin'!

Okay, I saw for the first time this morning the half hour version of the Ralph Sutton Episode. And I wonder if I saw something extra that wasn't on the hour episode. It was when Ralph was getting his hair cut. After they were done Kyan bent over and wiped Ralph below his nose. Now when ever there's a scene with Kyan I look closely at what he does and I don't remember this. I also saw that Jai was bleeped too this time. So I will have to find the original hour episode of this and see if I'm imagining things or not.
And if Kyan came over and wiped something off my mouth like he did here I wouldn't complain...
