I guess. My guess is that he was hurt by that encounter in Texas and is now weary(sp?) of who he dates.

Have u seen the food fight commercial yet?
What was that huge plastic jug? It looked like orange juice or something?
That commercial looked wild and THOMY was having a blast

Have u ever seen the Lawson eppy before? It is on tonight(Monday) at 5 pm.
During the eppy., Ted is not wearing glasses....

That's the Pilot episode. They showed it some time last year. Ted was wearing his contacts. Have you seen this episode d_d? You may not like it because Thom is not in it, and neither are Kyan and Jai. This was the Pilot and three other gentlemen were in their positions. As is often the case, cast changes happen between the Pilot and the Series. Carson & Ted are really the only two originals. Still, it's a cute episode and worth watching.
design_daddy
I am not sure, but, probably.... a friend has most of the eppys recorded. Yeah, I probably wouldn't like it b/c THOMY is not there
What are YOUR top 10 FUNNIEST eppys? The ones that just make you laugh so much

As Jai is the youngest, d'u think he is nieve(sp?) and just wants to date someone and doesn't know about someone who wants to take advantage of his reality show popular status?

I don't think so. He's not that young, he's 25.

It's just the problem with fame, I'm afraid.
design_daddy
Could the others tell if they were dating bois, if they were using them just 'cause their sorta reality show celebs? I would think that big THOMY could.

Okay, I saw for the first time this morning the half hour version of the Ralph Sutton Episode. And I wonder if I saw something extra that wasn't on the hour episode. It was when Ralph was getting his hair cut. After they were done Kyan bent over and wiped Ralph below his nose. Now when ever there's a scene with Kyan I look closely at what he does and I don't remember this. I also saw that Jai was bleeped too this time. So I will have to find the original hour episode of this and see if I'm imagining things or not.

And if Kyan came over and wiped something off my mouth like he did here I wouldn't complain...

I'm not sure about this instance, but I've made posts about possibly seeing new scenes in repeat runnings of the show.

And, thinking about the Ralph episode, they probably had to come up with new footage to fill in the deleted scenes from the original. LOL
design_daddy
Once in a while- for a commercial, there is stuff that has never been shown before. I have seen it like w/ the straight guy with that huge fish on the wall. it is pretty cool
design_daddy
Whatever happened to those oldie guys from eppy #100? Were they "test-try-outs"??

It's hard to say. They'd probably keep their guard up for awhile, but gold-diggers can be charming.

It definately increases your love for Thom, Jai, and Kyan, it that's even possible.
tomasulo
MidniteBlue, you are SO right! No one could ever consider Jai useless after watching the two former Culture guys! Did this guy really think he was helping Lawson by criticizing his taste in music and then going shopping for CD's that Lawson may or may not like? The saddest thing about this ep is that I thought Lawson and Gable were adorable and I could almost imagine Thom's reaction......."ooooh, she's so cute!"

Yeah, the first culture guy definately lost major points from me for dissing Billy Joel (grrr!). I just think that Jai does a better job of trying to improve the straight guys' lives. He doesn't just buy them music. Like in the Mark Faries ep, he took Mark rock climbing to symbolize the special relationship between a parent and child. It takes a special kind of thoughtfulness to come up with that lesson.

I really liked Lawson and Gable as well. Lawson was a great sport for giving himself over to the guys, especially considering that he had no idea what he was getting into.
tomasulo
MidniteBlue, the rock climbing experience you're talking about was a perfect example of Jai's excellent contributions....demonstrating to Mark F., rather than lecturing, about trust and commitment. Good job remembering such a fine example!

Thanks! I guess that example just resonated with me because the episode aired right before my 18th birthday and I was getting ready to graduate high school. But Jai's done so many other things for the straight guys, like "forcing" Alan C to be romantic. ("Forced?!" I'm trying to help you!") and showing Butch how to work the crowd at an art gallery opening, showing Richard how to host an adult party...the list goes on and on.
design_daddy
I am obviousley not a Jai fan.
But to complement the CULTURE EXPERT, that he is.
He knows dance moves, how to treat a lady, give the straight guys some manner tips, etc.
He is excellect at what he does and the rest-and that interior design expert-THOMY

Heeeeeeey, guys!!!!!
I missed you all soooo much!!! How was everyone's week?!?
Hey, I was reading the posts I missed around here, and here's my thoughts about them:
1- I hate when ppl say that our dear Jai is useless... He's so romantic, he has so much culture, so much style, he's such an amazing guy and he deserves nothing but wonderful ppl to match his personality! He's great in my oppinion, BTW, I love them all, even though my fave is Teddy, all of them have a special place in my heart, and it isn't any different about Jai... I love him too, and he's so cute and he doesn't deserve that anyone treats him bad...
2- Ted is great either in glasses or contact lenses... After all, he's Ted!!!!
Gotta go, ppl!!!! Love ya'll!!!
See you all later!!!
Hugs and kisses,
NAT*-*

In the link below is a story about the Johnnie Walker Dressed to Kilt event benefiting Friends Of Scotland, which will take place on National Tartan Day, April 6th in New York City.

The theme of this year's Dressed to Kilt, sponsored by Johnnie Walker, the world's best selling Scotch Whiskey, will be "Glasgow Meets Havana at ... the Copacabana", which also happens to be the venue. The runway fashion show will feature 30 "hot" men and 10 "gorgeous" women all clad in plaid, strutting the catwalk for charity! ... But the bold faced names don't stop there -- Models for the evening include Queer Eye for the Straight Guy's Ted Allen and Thom Filicia; Actor Anne Hathaway (The Princess Diaries); supermodel/TV reality star Marcus Schenkenberg; CNN's Paula Zahn; Actor Gerard Butler (Phantom of the Opera); New York Post "Page Six" editor Richard Johnson; Kansas City Chiefs' Lawrence Tynes; Scottish rugby star Scott Hastings; Scottish pop idol Darius; Olympic Gold Medallist swimmer Gary Hall; Actor Tony Curran (Flight of the Phoenix); Scottish soccer legend Mo Johnston; and celebutantes Tinsley Mortimer, Zani Gugelmann, and Elizabeth Kieselstein Cord.

OMG!!!!!! THOM IN A KILT?????? Please, please, please let someone take pictures, from every angle, if you know what I mean.....

what do they really wear under those things????

Thom: "Excuse me, what are you doing with that camera?"

Me: "Finding out what they really do wear under those kilts.....oooh laa, laa..."

Thom: "Wait a minute, you're one of those 'wives' aren't you?"

Me: "Uh...yeah....could you swish your skirt a little bit to the left please?"

Thom: "It's a kilt! And what difference does it make if I swish it to the left?"

Me: "Oh you have no idea..."
tomasulo
"Excuse me, Mr. Filicia, we've had a small...er...I mean, a slight wardrobe substitution for the fashion show."

Thom: "That's fine, no problem....uh...are you sure this is a traditional Scottish kilt? It seems a bit....um....short."

"Sir, could you please hurry up and change before security...I mean, before the fashion show starts."

Good grief, has everyone gone on vacation? These boards have been DEAD most all weekend.
Oh well, I can count on having something to read tomorrow morning.
The episode for tonight looks like another tear jerker. Can't wait to see it.
Here in Colorado we have enjoyed 3 beautiful spring days but today it looks like weather (the bad kind) is coming in again. Boo!
Cheers,

This gave me a laugh....especially since I misread "quilt" as "guilt". What the heck.....I'll take any of them in a kilt or in a quilt and I'll deal with the guilt. (This is starting to take on a Dr. Seuss quality!)

I'm away from home right now because my father is having a heart bypass. Just thought I'd drop in and let you know I heard from John McMullen, and Ted is no longer (as in: after ONE show) going to be doing a weekly food&wine show. He (Ted) was sorry but he found it a larger commitment than he expected and he wasn't able to work doing a weekly show around QE and all. Ted will still be appearing sporadically when he can work it into his schedule. Whenever he does, I will be there to recap.

This is disappointing because Ted gave great interview (and you gave great recap), but I'm glad QE is still Ted's top priority. Thanks again, Naomi, for being right on it (as usual) and keeping us informed. My thoughts are with you and your family and I hope your dad recovers quickly and completely.

Thanks Naomi. Maybe when the show ends it's run, Ted will be able to be on as a regular.

I'll be thinking about your Dad. My dad had quintuple bypass surgery a few years ago. He came through it fine, and I pray that yours does too.

Hi Naomi - hope you dad does very very well with his bypass. My father is recovering from a double bypass he had several weeks ago. It's taken him until this past week to really start feeling pretty well again, so be prepared for that. It's a scary thing, but this modern medicine stuff is just AMAZING. Sending good thoughts his way!

Raindog (and Naomi) don't be surprised if it takes him even longer than that. It took a few months for my dad to get back to normal. Also, don't be surprised if he goes into a little depression. We were told that it's normal and rather common. Just support him & listen if he needs to talk.

Do you realize that 3 out of the 4 replies have mentioned fathers needing bypasses. WOW

I was just thinking, no, it's been FOUR weeks since my dad had his operation. Geeze. He was in the hospital so long that everything has run all together. And it's just been this past week that he's been able to walk around the house without using a walker. He was noticeably better this past weekend while I was there, but it's taken quite some time to get to that point. But, it IS major surgery.

And like you mentioned, it's REALLY common. My best friend is a nurse and we were talking about that - her theory is that it's better detection now. People used to just have a heart attack and die, but now they are able to detect these problems much earlier and repair them. I think nearly everyone my dad knows has had one. And they all say how they feel like a new person once all this is over and they finally are recovered from the surgery.

I saw your link at Carson's. Barry and Ted and Carson and his date at the beach.. Rio de Janeiro.. wow! And thank you!
I wonder if they ventured past the tourist enclave..
I knew that Ted and Carson would look cute. What I really enjoyed to see was the expressions on the faces of Barry and also on Carson's date - who looked Brazilian, yaay! Those guys looked on top of the world!

I am a little bit scared with all the talk about bypass surgery. I have been considering buying a portable defibrillator but I think I should wait and get the latest model when and if it is reccomended? Does anyone have the portable model at home or work or in the car? It is supposed to have interactive voice instructions and be fool proof?

I really hope your dad makes a full recovery Naomi.

KCee creeps in and drops off the following news tidbit. Then ducks and runs to safety before the Thom Wives and the Teddy Grahams realize that their men will soon be seen ... in KILTS!
=================================

In the link below is a story about the Johnnie Walker Dressed to Kilt event benefiting Friends Of Scotland, which will take place on National Tartan Day, April 6th in New York City.

Everytime I tried to paste the entire story here, it formatted funky. But, here's the part which you may find most interesting. (Bolding added by me.)

Quote:

My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope your dad makes a speedy recovery.

Hey, remember when - I don't remember who - had that dream about Kyan in a quilt? Well, it won't be Kyan, but Thom *and* Ted!? That's at least a close second!

"quilt"? I don't think that seeing the fellas wrapped in a quilt would be nearly as interesting as seeing them wearing kilts. (just teasing!)

OOPS! Hehe... well, you know what I mean! I guess I type the word, "quilt" way more than "kilt"... and I don't think that's such a bad thing.
