Queer Eye DVDs coming out in June.
http://tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=3233
Yay! My question is, will the DVD's feature clips from the episodes? Or will it just be the guys talking about their respective subjects? Either way, I am SO ordering the 4-pack!
Okay, I just pre-ordered the 4 pack from Amazon......now somebody please tell me what the hell I've ordered?!?!? It looks like there are separate DVD's for each of the guys and a Red Sox DVD......so does anyone know what is included in the 4 pack? I want to make sure I get EVERYTHING!!!!!

I preordered everything too. Pre-orders can be cancelled. They'll post more information on these items as it's available.
I'm guessing that the 4-pack is a combo-pack of those other 4 tapes from the guys, and that the Red Sox is a stand alone disc.
Also - Someone on another message board posted that Jai said that a Season 1 set will come out after the current season is over, and it will include "deleted scenes". Unfortunately, this person did not mention where or when Jai supposably said this, so I'll take it with a grain of salt.

I LOVE drastic hair changes. Actually, I'm kind of a trend-setter at my school (which ISN'T hard - our school is known for their style clones) so I have to change it constantly so that it's not copied too much by everybody. Seventh grade was neck-length blonde hair with *way* too many highlights, eighth grade changed from different types of blonde until I dyed it brunette in the spring, and this summer I went to a deep burgundy, almost purple (L'Oreal Féria Chocolate Cherry, to be specific) and just recently it's been a dark red.
Any opinions on my next move?
A random survey: what does everyone think is the most overrated hairstyle at the moment?
IMO, I can't stand the chunky high-lowlights, like the lady on the Apprentice... ich! Cool two years ago, but...
Actually, if he was doing it to be a trendsetter like you, maybe it wouldn't drive me so crazy. But it's so cliche if you're a gay male to buzz your hair in time for Pride, so you'll blend in with the crowd and be like everyone else. *shrugs* I guess I just have my expectations too high and want Jai to be more of an original than he is.
Actually, I'm probably just being whiny since it means that the new season shows will have him with short hair like last year. Ah well, thank goodness Thom's hair's still puurdy.

An article about a crow [http://www.southernvoice.com/2005/4-15/arts/homefront/home.cfm]:
"If I had a hammer …
After a week complaining about broken fixtures, handyman novice uses knowledge gained from TV home improvement shows to fix problem.
Friday, April 15, 2005
I GET DEPRESSED every time I see any of the home improvement shows flourishing on television these days.
While watching the professional contractors, designers and decorators construct amazing homes from the ground up, or totally transform dumps into beautiful dwellings, I can’t help but be a little bit jealous of the results and the designers’ talents.
The latest hit show that makes me weep is ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” For most viewers, tears come from the good deeds done by host Ty Pennington and his crew, who demolish and rebuild a house for a deserving family each week. I cry because I want to live in a house like the ones on the show, with beautiful furniture, high-tech electronics, inventive designs, indoor pools, murals and amazing extras like carousels or mini trains in the yard.
What really depresses me is how easy the show’s gay designer, Michael Moloney, makes the work look.
“Decorate for how you live, not for how you’ll be perceived when people come over for Christmas dinner,” Maloney says in a recent TV Guide interview.
That’s a great tip. But since I think I live fabulously, it doesn’t make sense that my abode is so desolate.
But my jealousy of Maloney is nothing compared with how I feel about my arch nemesis Thom Filicia on “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.”
The underlying premise of this show is that gay men instinctively know more about design and fashion than straight men. But it fails to mention that the Fab Five has years of training and experience that taught them the tricks they now impart on straight schlubs.
Filicia doesn’t help with tips much. When explaining how he striped a wall or why he chose particular furniture, he has an air of slight condescension. It’s like he’s treating his subject and the audience with contempt for not knowing what he knows.
“Goodness,” Thom seems to say, “every gay man knows that sage green walls make a room look great. I can’t believe I actually have to tell you this!”
It reminds me of a segment on the Style Channel’s “The Brini Maxwell Show,” called “Why Didn’t You Think of That?”
The ‘50s-inspired host, Maxwell (Ben Sander in drag), does something outrageous, like turn an old umbrella into a drying rack for panty hose. Then she says, tongue firmly in cheek, “Now, why didn’t you think of that?”
ALL THESE GAY men on television have all these great ideas, and I didn’t seem to inherit any of that creativity. On TLC’s “Trading Spaces,” as the participants squeal about their delightful new rooms, I look around at my own apartment.
I see the low ceilings, bare white walls, used furniture, a slightly lopsided dresser, the broken doorknob and the toilet that won’t flush. It’s enough to make me want to hang myself with the drapes.
Whenever I leave, I secretly hope that I will return to find gay designers John Bruce and Mark Montano who surprise homeowners on TLC’s “While You Were Out.” My apartment certainly looks like a “before” picture, but the designers never appear.
Recently, a doorknob and the toilet broke on the same day. After a week of pestering my landlord, I couldn’t handle only using the john at the office or futzing with the door another day.
After watching all these shows, I figured I should be able to accomplish these two menial tasks. Before heading to the hardware store, I silently said a prayer to the two St. Marcs: Marc Goldberg and Marc “Sparky” Bartolomeo, the hunky duo from TLC’s “In a Fix.”
After ascertaining that I needed a new flapper for my toilet tank, the clerk at the hardware store showed me where to find them. The broken one was boring and black. But the ones in this store were cute and red. TV’s gay designers would definitely approve.
The clerk also showed me where to find replacement doorknobs and told me that it was easy to fix.
“Just follow the directions,” he said, with that Filicia-esque tone of condescension.
After spending $20, I got home to find that both of my projects came with illustrated instructions. I thought home repair was a frightful world of secrets, but I didn’t even have to know how to read to do this.
First, I turned off the water to the toilet and installed the pretty red flapper. Voíla. Done in less than five minutes.
The doorknob was a bit trickier. The mechanism looked a bit complicated, but it really wasn’t. I took out the screws and removed the broken knob. Once I understood how the mechanism worked, I put in the new knob and didn’t even have to look at the pictures. It took 20 minutes.
After a week of nelly complaining, with $20 and less half an hour of being butch, the job done was done. My worry that I wasn’t good enough for TV was for naught.
The success at those small tasks led to more adventurous ones, like building a modern, elegant coffee table and actually bothering to hang pictures on my barren walls.
Finally, I’m decorating for how I live."
This guy doesn't know jack-sh*t. He underestimates the intelligence of people who love the boys (they went through years of experience for this? Really??! Get out!) and whines like some under-aged sapling because things aren't going his way. In his whining we witness the continued attempt to kill humor - I know some can relate.

Thom is my one and only favorite BOY on the QE show.
He has been featured in various interior design magazine publications, in a Time magazine article....
From a straight gurls viewpoint he:
has a boyish & best laughing face.
Me, personally, I believe he is the most hardworker on the show. Even if he has help.
The thumbs in pockets trademark....
His design creations are done to perfection and precise.
He is a businessman! He is sexy, cute, handsome....adorable!
His "pumpkin" trademark...
HIS SMILE!
Where is THOMY'S design book? Carson & Kyan already have ONE!

Last Tuesday, the show wasn't on at all. This Tuesday, will be a repeat of Brian M.
According to the website, new episodes will be in June. So, it looks like a little break & a chance to catch up on some of the reruns that we didn't get on tape.
Bummer, but at least this show doesn't break for 3 months like network shows do during the summer - so I guess that's something.
Someone mentioned that the new season (Season 4?) starts in June, so I guess that's it.

I was just about to ask what the heck happened to James J, who I had listed in my Daytimer for last week, but there he is. (Well, of course I note episodes in my Daytimer. What, doesn't everyone??)
A nudist should be pretty interesting. My husband and I have a couple of friends we've known since way back in the 80s, but seldom see. Not long ago he got an email from them inviting us to go on a retreat to a nudist camp. We are STILL laughing. Nothing wrong with nudists, but that sounds like my own personal hell - "let's go meet a bunch of strangers, hang out with them all weekend, and oh, let's do it with no clothes on!!"
