The second installment of Queer Eye for the British Guy featured Darin D., an absent-minded professor, desperate to be a snappy dresser.

How did he do? How did the Fab Five do? Post your thoughts here!

Am I really first? I won't say much right now so that I don't spoil it for those of you who won't see it till later but...I don't think I have laughed so hard in months--the Cleopatra's secret cream on (whose?!) cheek, 'oh, yes I had a lovely time!' !
LOVED Thom's shirt and matching tie--so spiffy!
Thanks Ted for simplifying the hands on cooking but still making the food experience special with the cheeses. And the Julia Childs voice was priceless.
Jai, you were awesome tonight with the special surprises, the scavenger hunt. Shouldn't expect a serious scientist to be too creative with clues. Did love Jai's creativity of teaching Darin some homebody skills.
Julia (wife's) outfit was so beautiful--especially the coat. And Darin's clothing also took him to a new level of chic. Thanks, Carson.
Finally I thought Kyan crawling under the massage table to talk to Darin was priceless.
Oh, and Thom--the sofa, removing doors, the plasma TV ([expletive deleted] hum, I am getting tired of that feature, sorry) and the wall unit as well as the red walls--Ab FAB!
Okay, hope I've just whetted your appetites. Look forward to reading posts tomorrow and expanding mine.
Cheers,

"In the words of Joey Lawrence, 'Whoa!'."

THAT really made me laugh, partially because he did the impression so well. (Though, I have a feeling I may need to explain that to the non U.S. contingent.)

More later.... bedtime beckons.
FiliciaFanatic
I loved all of the Python-esque references (all of the guys talking pepperpot-speak was priceless! ). I also wish they'd go a little easier on Ted, 'cause it seems like he's always the one getting hurt -- easy, boys, he's an old man! (Well, comparatively.)

I love London... I wish they could've done a few more episodes over there.

Interesting episode. Good snark and double-entendres. Fans have mentioned the opening sequence being different for the British shows, but I'm glad they've still showed the camera lingering at Ky's leather-clad crotch. Hee!
I was beginning to get a bit jealous of the wife when Ky hugged her until he snarked about her thermal torture devices for her hair and the cl!t cream. One of the coleagues in the interviews looked like he wore makeup.
I can't remember whether I'd been to Selfridges when I was in London, though I definitely remember the name. I did go to Harrod's, however. Lovely.
Ky asked the SG about the hair on his palms. He was joking, right? Ky had some good lines this time: "Come on, Jai-bird!" Before homemade backne facial: "We're gonna make up a little something in the bedroom." (What a tease!) "We put the tail in detail." Dude, Ky said he loves a girl that says "dude". Hey, I just said it! He must love me too! Hee! I liked the skinny trousers that Ky wore during the ep, but I wasn't so hot about the purple turtleneck on him during the reveal. JMHO. When the SG and wife were in the hotel eating the food with tea, Ky said that scones and clotted cream were his favorites. Well, I have a recipe for scones, so I could make those for him. As for the uh, "clotted cream", I'll leave that to Ky to make. But if he needs some help, he can be sure to let me know.
What did you Thomwives think when he had his hair set? Am I losing my mind? I could've sworn that after they drove the SG around after leaving his home, Carson said, "Come on, peanut.", but right after that, it showed the SG with Thom. I loved the furniture store and Thom's snark about Carson's hair. Rjaye, remember when Uncle Supe sent you to sleep in the closet in the hall at the storytime sleepover? The SG's little closet reminded me of that. At least now that it's an entertainment center, it's not scary anymore. The living room now has a modern festive look, thanks to great furniture and the red paint. Design_daddy: What did you think of Thommie's velour blazer during the reveal? I bet you'd want to caress the soft fabric.
I liked Carson in this one. He was funny and femmy. And he wore jodhpurs. Hmm. I liked when he said, "Cirque de So Gay". Interesting that they did the fashion show at the dept. store, although from the bed is my fave. Now I don't compliment Carson very often, but I must say I LOVED the suit and the tie that he wore during the reveal! His hair was nicely done to.
Even little Jai got some good lines this time: During the bed-making lesson: "Everyone wants a nice package." Folding the sweater:"*gasp!*Pretty!* Jai likes to snuggle in the beds with SGs. He was so playful when he threw off the sheets. Awww, cute!
Did Ted get a haircut? It looks nice. When he asked whether the SG was lactose intolerant, it reminded me that Ky and I both have that in common. Soymilk for us. In the mid-show Hip Tip, he was talking about using beer for cooking "...for meat that can't be beat."

Thom did many cute things in this episode as you have probably now read from others.
First he had on the spiffiest shirt and matching tie--he rarely looks so dressed up. Then he allowed the others as well as the wife (I think) to set his hair (I don't quite know why) which was very funny!
When he took Darin to the furniture store he showed him a stool that was upholstered in goat(?) fur--long, white and silky and he commented it was like Carson's hair but much softer.
He painted the living room red because the wife loves that color. He bought a gorgeous wall unit for the living room for their books and pictures. He took several doors off in the apartment to give it a more open feeling. Between him and Carson there were several funny references to Harry Potter including a room under the stairs (a place Harry was made to sleep in the first Harry Potter book) which Thom removed the door from and turned into an entertainment center for audio equipement, etc. He also decorated with pictures from London to help the home feel more English.
One thing I noticed during the reveal that I have NEVER seen before--he appeared quite annoyed with the wife that she wasn't guessing the clues for the scavenger hunt. Said something like 'oh, come on Julie' and had a very annoyed look on his face. But when she guessed right and found her family at the British Eye (I guess this a very famous new landmark in London--maybe sponsored by British Airways?) he was as excited as all the other guys.

Did he say anything silly?
What store did Thommy and Darin go to?
Goat fur-I am not to thrilled about animal furn-I wonder if Thommie is? Ish, only fake fur!

dd
tomasulo
SLB: Ted also commented on Julie's inability to pick up on the clues and I think Thom said, "My God, Julie". I empathized with Julie though because I'm a total doofus when I'm under pressure. I probably wouldn't be able to get my own name straight in front of a t.v. camera.
design_daddy
Cool, did he say other funny stuff?
Lots of laughing and smiling in this eppy?

I love the London Eye! (Not 'British', btw), and yes it is sponsored by BA. It was built for the millenium and it's other name is the Millenium Wheel. It's near the South Bank where I go a lot and I remember seeing it in its various stages of construction during 1999. They built the wheel lying flat across the water. It's really beautiful, especially at night.

Another fave actor of mine, Kevin Spacey, lives in London. Wadda think of him? Just curious, do u think he is gay or straight?

Did Thommie wear something different from on the show eppy. to back at the loft? If so, what differently was he wearing back at the loft?
Was the clothing model show on Darin's bed???

We've never met, but Kevin Spacey and I went to the same high school. (Did I hear someone out there say "who cares?"?) I think he's a great actor and I'm going to guess he's straight......100%?.....that I don't know.

No way, serious! You went to the same HS? In a bio show, from People mag., he was valedvictorian w/ actress Mare Winn-what the spelling? Right?
Any fave films? I like Shipping News, K-Pax, The Negotiator...

I couldn't figure out why I'd never noticed that gargantuan wheel in the sky before - it's good to know I'm not losing my mind. Even though it's been there awhile, sounds like.

I want to go to London!!!!

Why, how interesting! I'm pretty I didn't share my high school with anyone who is the slightest bit famous. Although Andy McDowell does live in the town where I grew up.

I love Kevin Spacey and K-Pax is one of my favorite movies. But I was in high school the same year as Johnny Reznik(sp?) - the lead singer of the Goo Goo Dolls. All I remember about him is him walking the halls in overalls with friends.
ThomsTeddyBear
On Darin D. - loved it! These brit epis are very similar to the first shows of the old days...they have the same feel except the SG's aren't as skittish.

They're place was really...hmmm....whitewashed? Bleak? Sanitized? It was something. Thom was genius (of course) in breaking the red with the long wall stand and removing the doors in the apartment to give it some kind of flow. It went from cold to warm - a marked improvement. Now they have a home!

Ok, Thom getting his hair toyed with...why can't I toy with Thom's hair! I had a Beauty Style Barbie! I'm good, really I am! It's the handcuffs I'm hiding behind my back, isn't it.

I LOVED the Harry Potter outfit Carson gave him, that was too cool! I'd love that look, maybe next fall.

Did anyone else feel guilty about not cornering the sheets and blankets of their bed? My grandmother would be so ashamed of me.

Just like Kyan said about Steven S., I don't like to tuck. I don't tuck in sheets or anything because I sleep like Thom, all over the bed. There's a daydream in there somewhere. The weather's been so sunny and beautiful lately, I think I have Spring fever.

Thom did look lovely...with his hair done up...now if we all were to get our hands in his hair he just might become bald,as we all would want to take a lock....now there's a terrible thought...

ROFLMBO!!!!!

I did enjoy the British episodes. I can imagine being homesick for your relatives back home and that was very sweet of the boys to have a reunion.

Liked Kyan reading the instructions for the "Ladies Special Cream"-wonder if the SG's wife was around within earshot then. Reminds me of Michael C.'s wife when Ted and Carson found the sex toys.

And the guys going around on the washing line outside and then Carson running into Ted and Ted crashing into the garbage cans!

Hmm, Jai really liked to be in bed alot in this one...I'm sure the Jai fans loved it!

And I thought Carson looked very nice back at the loft in his suit.

The clues thing was funny because my sister did the exact same thing for me when she hid my DVD recorder. I was like Julie as some clues I couldn't figure out!

Jolly Good Show, Lads!

Sorry, I forgot to add I was happy to see the hips tips at the end. I was getting worried they were phasing them out.
FiliciaFanatic
I'm the same way -- I know how to properly make a bed, but I don't do it that way, 'cause I'd just have to pull it all apart and redo it when I got ready to get in bed. I just don't sleep that way.

I didn't see this eppy. But have seen some photos from a QE fansite on the net.

What was with Thommie eating potato chips and leaning against the white door?
It musta been so funny to see Thommie getting his hair done...
I like Thommie in that red jacket and blue sweater...
As usual in his hip-tips, "Big Eyes". I like Pink, the color, but his sweater was neon pink. He still looked cute in it....
What was that symbol on that pink sweater???

I don't even make the bed. Unless I'm expecting company, and in that case I just throw the comforter over it. I haven't done that cornering thing since I went to summer camp and we were forced to make our beds properly.

Well, I finally got to see this episode. I really liked it. Then again, I really like every episode. Anyway, I liked how Ted went easy on him with the cooking. Personally, I don't see what all the fuss was with the hospital corners. Personally, I never do hospital corners. I'm glad they showed a guy with backne, because I have that same condition myself and don't really know how to treat it. Unfortunately, I don't live with anybody I could ask to apply a mask to my back so I'm still at square 1. I think Thom did an amazing job with the house. I liked it when they were doing Thom's hair. That's all I can think of at the moment.

jbb, I'm not sure exactly which ones you're referring to (I can only remember the 2 pictures of London) but I looked on the product guide, did a bit of research and found the following:
