OMG, No he didn't! Kyan appeared to be hitting on the bald guy! Kyan, please don't cheat on me again! LOL. And Kyan's face looked even more handsome on this episode. I loved the football uniform in the hip tips at the end. It is good fantasy material. We need to see him in his undies again, too. Why are they making-better all these married yuppies with big houses these days? I mean, 2 years with no furniture? It's probably in storage just for the show. What I'd like to see are some CONSTRUCTION WORKERS getting a make-better. BTW, most women like Kyan's hair "zhuzhed" up, but I love it forward best. JMHO.

Me, too. Everyone'll hate me for saying, so, but I can see where his mother is coming from. Personally, bald men just don't do it for me. It's not their faults, but I think covering it up helps.

You guys are so confused. You are talking about Richard (toupee or not toupee) Miller. The Steven episode has not aired yet. This thread was just posted in advance for whatever reason.

You know, I think I'm with you on that. That thing reminded me of an Elton John concert. It couldve been fab in a more extroverted person's home. I dont want to be excommunicated from the Church of Thom, though. Just speakin my mind.

I would have to agree that he did look younger with the toupee, however, the fact that it was inhibiting his personality doing him more harm than good. Looks do count for something, but personality counts quadruple (at least). Oh, and I think the mom was wearing a wig. I used to sell wigs and women's hair extentions, and I'm almost certain she had one on, which would explain her unhappiness at seeing her son do what she could not. Bare it all.
P.S. - Does Thom really wear a piece?

Oh now that's it! *Takes away honorary paintbrush and paint sample book* You have hereby been formally excommunicated from The Church of Thom! Please leave your drop cloth on the way out the door. LOL - kidding with ya!
You know, at first sight, I thought "What the heck!" about that mirror too - but after Thom applied that color to the walls, it became almost like a cozy nook and the mirror really did look fabulous! Without it, the wall would have just been a dark slab...even if it had a painting on it. The mirror reflected light but not so much that it was glaring. Now I'm not just saying this because I'm a Filicia Freak Fan (lol, loved that one Ahm), I really did like the mirror once I saw how it was used on that wall.
Btw, I also questioned the giraffe looking rug but thought it too worked out once it was laid in the house. People have different tastes though so I can respect ya.

This thread is for the episode of Queer Eye that hasn't been aired yet. They've shown commercials for the episode and Steve S. is a young, single guy who throws clothes back at Carson.
I'm thinking he may be the first MakeBetter to get beaten up by the Fab 5. People should know better than to make Carson mad!

The promos for the Steven ep gave me the weirdest dream last Tuesday night. I think it happened when teh voice over said, "Don't make Carson angry" or something like that.
In my dream I was a part of the camera crew and Ted and Carson were bringing the straight guy back to see his house. For whatever reason no one was there to let us in and we were locked out. It was an innocent situation and Carson made a joke about it. The straight guy flipped out and started yelling at Carson. He just went from zero to raging creep in a matter of seconds! I remember standing with the crew and Ted and we were dumbfounded by all the abuses the guy was slinging at Carson. He was standing there in his new clothes, new haircut and about to go into his new place and he's screaming at Carson about something that could be fixed easily.
Ted makes a few jokes to try and calm the guy but it takes a member of the crew to get the mans's attention away from Carson.
Carsin turned to me and in a dark, %100 serious tone he said, "Get me a 'bleeeeping' paperclip and I will pick the 'bleeeeeeping' lock myself!"
It seems funny now but Carson angry is a sight I wouldn't want to see.

Steve looks like he's going to be a major pain-in-the-butt! There have been guys who have been hesitant and whatever, but he looks like he's downright malicious and is doing it on purpose. It's a "watch me be macho and make fools of the gay men" thing or else it's a scam for ratings. Will wait to see what happens though.

I was wondering the same thing. I hope they truly turned him around. I haven't seen this guy on TV before on his cable show but I've read internet interviews about what straight men think of the show and they voice the same disturbing thing. They want to be on the show and put up a struggle. I don't see why. i've heard Carson making sure the men like the clothes he puts them in and Thom also. Didn't Thom ask one guy if he felt he was in a costume? The Fab 5 don't help someone out by telling them they are all wrong and forcing the straight guy to be metrosexual.
I could rant on and on about this but I haven't seen the ep yet so I'll save my judgments until then.

Okay, first of all, it's Thom. Note the H. This goes for caption writers at Out Magazine as well.
Second of all, this was in the Richard Miller episode, not the Steven episode, but I will sit here and perpetuate the misthreading. Might as well. Tis kinda fun.
Third of all, the nice people at Bravo have taken the time to provide a shopping guide for all the products of note from each episode. This is rare, so we should appreciate it by reading it whenever we are interested in something we see on the show. The following link is the shopping guide for the Richard Miller episode, number 115.(http://www.bravotv.com/Queer_Eye_for_the_Straight_Guy/Shopping_Guide/Fashion/115.shtml)
Okay, and fourth of all, doesn't Thom look hot in D Squared?

And speaking of corrections - this one has bothered me for a long time. When you first come to the QE site, the flash comes up silhouetting the boys and then their pictures appear. Behind them the different nicknames fly by: culture vulture, wine conniseur(sp?), fashion savant, groom guru...anything missing? DESIGN DOCTOR! Mods! Come on now! There's a huge empty space where "Design Doctor" should be for Thom!

Ok, I was really Put Into Short Stress Exponentially Divided when Steven closed the door in Carson's face and threw that shirt on the floor, but I must admit that he came around nicely! Gotta give it to Carson for patience - I would have locked him in that stall and put swords through the door. I don't think he expected the change to be as good as it was but the boys lived up to their reputation. He really did look great! And it was a look that was attuned to him...he wasn't made into something he didn't want to be (but then, none of the men ever are). I was shocked that he remembered everything he was told and related it back to his crew with ease - impressive!
And Thom making over that apartment was equal to the raising of the great pyramids - MIRACULOUS!! The green brought the whole apartment together but the separate color of the bedroom set it apart. And I got MEGA storage ideas from this episode! There are only two small closets in my apartment, one in each bedroom and that's it. I'm definitely looking into stylish storage!
On the down end, what was up Ms. Gothika's butt?!

Well, green is my favorite color Great job, Thom! What I love about this show is that their makeovers for all the guys are so "right on" to their different personalities and lifestyles. The clothes Carson picked out were just perfect for Steven. Looking forward to next week already!

OK! I have collected my thoughts on the latest installment of our Fab 5...I don't think that Steven was as bad as the previews made us all think he was going to be. And just let me also say that if the Fab 5 ever decide to do a 'make better' on a female, I pray to God that it would be the Gothic Girl first. She needs more decent clothes than just the tie she stole from Steven. What was up with that? She looked like everyone I went to high school with. Back in the late 80's.

Another note on the Steven episode. Did you all see the ad in the middle of the commercials that had the info for the 'Special Holiday Episode'??!! SUPERSTITIOUS???? Next episode is 114, what happened to 113? No need to be superstitious this show is a definite hit!
I was wondering what it would be like to have a show Queer Eye for the straight girl. Until I saw the co-hosts on Stevens show and I said "NAH" I don't think so.... One took his 'tie belt' and I was angry... I sat there and said "Give him back that tie"... A real Playa Hate...

Steven wasn't really all that bad he just wanted to keep his rock style alive a lil but what I hated most about the episode was what Carson said about the "Gothic Chic" who's Steven's co-host. Her name is Juliya and i think she is FINE, HOTT, everything.

I think the Fab5 are a bit too sophisticated for the iMX host. Having grown up in rural Michigan, the on-air "personalities" of music program were reminiscent of the rednecks and trailer trash I left-behind 20 years ago. My 17 year old, very hip daughter, said she'd never watch Steven and the gang again. She loves the Fab5 and she was really amazed by Steven's lack of insight into his own character short-comings or at the very least, medicate properly so he's not a danger to himself or others.

Thanks for the reply, Jackie. Too bad my cable provider doesn't include Steven's cable channel. This guy was already somewhat hip to begin with and ended up looking like a sixth member of the fab five. I LOVED the neon-y green walls in his after apt. I also really digged Jai's KD t-shirt with the Underwood devils all over it! So cool! And Kyan always looks so delicious in muscle shirts. Me so horny! Especially the Dsquared2 outfit he wore (mmm, leather pants) in the hairpiece episode. I wish I could afford that cool "katoure du jour". No, wait - he looked hottest of all in those Completely Bare tanning salon undies. Too bad the hip tips at the end of this show were recycled. It's good that, like someone here suggested, Kyan showed the guy the proper way to shave. I don't like catty women in real life, but Carson is funny when he's catty, like when he snarked at the gothic chic Steven worked with. The next episode might be a really good one, and I'm glad there will be one soon that follows up on the straights, as someone else suggested.

113 was the Jeff Toale episode, aka "Scary Garcia." The Steven episode was the only one left from the original batch of tapings that they had not aired. Anyone know why? I am guessing that it is because they needed to get okays from everyone at Fuse before they could air.

Okay, that was kinda my point. Not that the mirror was "horrrible" in itself, but that it was not well-suited to the guy. I understand that if Richard is a super-introvert, Thom might want to force an extroverted piece on him to "bring him out" a little, but this does not really go with their theme of "you, only better." Decor will not change your personality.
If you ever study personality types or the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, you learn that an introvert will always be, essentially, an introvert for their whole lives.
