So, how did you like it? Was your favorite romantic moment/straight guy there? Talk about it here!

I loved this ep! Its my new second favorite! Thank you so much Bravo for this!

I liked it! I tend to like 'clip-shows' anyway. I liked how they arranged the segments. I did notice that they missed the Brian/Rachel football proposal during that segment, though.

It was good to see some clips from episodes that they don't show very often (Steven S. Michael Z., James M.)

Kyan didn't have as much narration as Jai did on the "Best of" show, but it was still good. Loved that last line though ...

"Remember, a kiss is just a kiss. Except when it's the best kiss of your life."

Awwwwwww.

I enjoyed listening to Kyans voice....anything he says sounds sexy and romantic...its nice to relive old episodes, and it reaffirms why I LOVE QE!!

I thought it was kind of fun, but I'd be expecting my favorite lines and of course they'd get cut out as they zipped from clip to clip. Like when Vinnie is singing and Thom says, very dubiously, "He's getting better", and Carson says, "No, we're just getting drunker." It's not something I'd watch again.

But this episode wasn't about the Fab5. It was about the straight guys and their romantic moments. What you're looking for is stuff for the general "Best of" shows.
tomasulo
This ep was a nice reminder of all those sweet moments....I love the proposals and cry every time.
tomasulo
Replying to myself like a doofus...but I forgot something...
this was a nice Valentine's Day gift. Thank you, Bravo, and Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!
design_daddy
I thought every time, EVERY TIME Thommee laughed it made it more fun to watch. Those times back at the loft where he was laughing.
And I found a fave tee, from back the loft, lime green and blue of Thommee(Josh D. eppy)...
I didn't watch the whole eppy though, I just liked......
LAUGHING BIG EYES.

OH...ummm...you're right. And I missed most of the other "best of" one because of a tv/satellite/cable situation. But it certainly isn't like I don't have all the episodes on video.

Yes, that last line Kyan said-I just sighed. I liked this episode too-I don't mind clip shows. I enjoyed Kyan narrating of course! And I was also glad they showed John V. and I got to see Carson from the Thomas K. episode-nice!

Which is another reason I didn't like it. Sure, Kyan narrated, but his sweet, sexy voice is so soothing that in addition to being bored by the show, it lulled me to sleep. I'm just not a fan of clip shows. There's just something so...regurgitated about them.

Are any of them really about the Fab 5? I thought that they were about the SG and making the SG better.

I thought this one was the same in that the Fab 5 was making the SG better through showing them what could be done in the romance area. The only difference is that they didn't have just one guy, they had a lot.

That's my feeling about it too. While the Fab5 may be the headliners, the SG is the one who really influences what the tone of an episode is going to be. The 5 themselves have said that the SG is the actual "star" of the show.

I liked that they also showed some of the moments that didn't work out as well.
KyansBabe
I enjoyed this episode. I just love to listen to Kyan's voice. It is very soothing and sexy. The last line of the show was unreal........... a kiss is just a kiss... unless it is the best kiss of your life. I almost fell off the couch!

::swoon::

Jai may be my fave.. but Kyan runs a VERY close 2nd!! This was one of my fave eppys, even if there was no makeover. And never you worry! I just about fell out of bed.. it's like 11pm and I'm going insane.. lol

did anyone esle notce that a word about type of bar attend was bleeped out the had't been before
kyansutra
Yes, I noticed that the kind of bar Jai mentioned was now bleeped out. I taped the original episode the first night it aired and no bleeps to be found there.
kyansutra
Yes, I loved that line too! Was hoping to get the best kiss of my life with Kyan-Okay still looking for my Mr. Right who is straight but it would of been great! Anyway, the event was cancelled so I went AWWWW MAN!!! when he said that! MGK you are so lucky!!

Kyansbabe do you have the QE Audio Book? Put in the CD where Kyan's part is. I've done it before falling asleep and his voice is so calm and soothing, not to mention sexy!
KyansBabe
Yes! I have the QE audio book. I listen to Kyan's part all the time! He does have such a soothing voice. I am hoping that his book Beautified will come out on cd also. Wouldn't that be awesome?
kyansutra
I don't know if there is an audio for "Beautified" but I wish there was. I know the day I bought Kyan's book I asked the clerk at the bookstore if there was an audio for this and she couldn't find anything. Carson had one for his book, I want one for Kyan's too!

I checked the online bookstores and found Carson's audio CD, but nothing mentioned for Kyan. If I had to guess, I know Carson's sold more, so probably it was a decision based on projected profits. Why did Carson's sell better? One guess would be that his book was more unique. There've been a lot of books available already on women's beauty and grooming, but not many like Carson's.

I can't believed i missed it. could anyone tell me the details

pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee

thank you
witchgirl
Don't worry, you didn't actually miss anything new. It was a clip show of past episodes.
design_daddy
Wasn't totally funny with the Butch S. eppy naughty mouth of Thommee was talking about his lady friend...."she so wants to sleep with him and she's like meet me in the bathroom, I wanna have sex with you"

Was the ..."I mean...does this work for you..." also shown?

DD
witchgirl
Yes it was.
design_daddy
I bet the Kyan fans were crazy when the narrator spoke....and what exactly did he say at the very end of the show????

DD
pisces3888
I know if this is off-subject but did anyone see Jai's show in New York on January 31st because i didn't get to see it and i wanted to know if it was good or not

Thanks

I enjoyed the episode too and am glad they had Kyan do it - he has the voice for it. Most of the time they are very energetic but this was calmer and it needed to be for a Valentine's Day treat. The sequences that they put the clips in were perfect and I told a friend of mine that I'm going to sit down every ex of mine in front of the tape and make them watch it.

"See, this is where you went wrong...right there!"
"Ok you, you watch this segment. See that? That's where you screwed up."

Good reference material there and classic last line.

Can you pls. give me details about going to Thomeee's design company?

Your episode DEFINITELY belonged in this compilation....it was like a Valentine's Day gift to US!! The underwear scenes are indeed memorable....but who could forget those eyes!!! Seeing you was like having an old friend drop in...I believe I even said, "Awwwww, Sean!" right out loud. It was good to see you again and really wonderful to see you posting again.
candozier
That was my favorite quote from that episode!
candozier
I may not have the QE audiobook but I have an even better keepsake....a DVD copy of his recent online interview with Out in Denver...he actually answered one of MY questions!
I was surprised when they told me there was such an overwhelming response for it...I was like " Where ARE these people? I can't find them!"

I have also started writing to each of them...I hadn't written to ANYBODY on TV for years! And I got the nicest letter I've ever gotten from KYAN! He thanked me for writing to him, expressed genuine concern for my health (I have RA and lupus)and told me to take good care of myself. Best part was he ended it "With love, Kyan"

*sigh*

I've seen that interview too and also saved it! Which question was the one you asked?

You should track down that audio version of their book. You might be able to find used copies on amazon or ebay.

That's so cool that Kyan wrote back to you. I had a chance to meet him at a book signing and he seems like a very, very nice guy. (All of them are!)

I know you're looking for an active Kyan Community. Did you check out that other board which I recommended?
kyansutra
Candy, you should get the audiobook if possible just to listen to Ky's soothing voice before you go to sleep.

Congrats on the letter! Hopefully someday both of us will have the chance to meet him.
candozier
LOL...my question was the first one he answered! I'm Candace, from Dayton, Ohio! I figured since he was there for the AIDS walk, I would ask him a question about that. Even though they told me a lot of other people had ordered a copy of it besides me and I know there are other fans of Kyan out there like me, I have had a DEVIL of a time finding them! lol
All of the Kyan communities I visit seem to be either quiet or just plain abandoned...I just don't understand it, it's like some QE fans don't really think he's a part of the show or something....

I know that's a stupid notion but sometimes that's JUST how I feel. And I feel even stupider for "whining" about it all the time. And when I saw that Out in Denver interview, I thought to myself, "I hope a lot of other QE fans see this and give poor Kyan a chance! He really IS a nice guy!" lol
I have tried a lot of different boards...I really hoped to be able to correspond with those on this board but I can't write to anybody in my address book!
I was SO glad when I saw Naomi was back--but I would love to be able to hear from/write to other QE/Kyan fans like myself (kyansutra?)who love Kyan but ALSO love the other guys as well.

Candy
kyansutra
Candy we have been e-mailing and like a fool I forgot to tell you my username on Bravo. You are wonderful to write to and feel the same way about Kyan that I do!

The Out In Denver interview was wonderful and like Candy my question was answered by Kyan too-his yoga to unwind!

I'm already a big fan of his but his compassion for others-he mentioned he is supporting a little girl in India- and just being a nice guy make me even more of a fan of his!
candozier
Oh boy--I wish I had seen this before I had my "meltdown" the other day...lol

This is one reason I'm not too crazy about message boards--I miss too much! I scan the boards but I don't get a chance to read everything I should--that's why I like being written to directly...and we Kyan devotees ARE such a small group, well, I would hope we would try to stick together!

lol

Candy
candozier
Well, I may not be alone but I sure do feel outnumbered! lol

Anyone catch Run's House on MTV? I saw reruns on overdrive, their new site. http://www.mtv/overdrive I wish the Queer Eye Guys would pay them a visit! That would be comedy!! It comes on MTV on Thursdays at 10:30 EST.
nikki555
I think Joe U's best friend Scott is a doll. Can someone help me figure out who he is? I promise I'm not a bizarre, out-of this world person, just a lady who spotted a hot, and what seems lke sweet and funny guy (well, from what I could get in a few minutes). Anyone, anyone? :-)
nikki555
I have no idea how to use chat. Please send a private message or an email to ngwire@hotmail.com. I added a message about does anyone know anything about "Scott" from the "Joe U"/wedding Queer Eye episodes. He was Joe's best friend and just an absolute doll!
candozier
Well, didn't think I'd be able to....but I've come crawling back....
Don't know how long I'll stick around...all I did was look through some of the posts and got that SAME feeling of the walls closing in and being overwhelmed...
Absolutely NOTHING seems to have changed here....I STILL don't feel like I belong...

What are you hoping to get out of these boards?
ValerieJay
OK, everyone, I just HAVE to say this. I absolutely LOVE Queer Eye. If I don't see it for a couple of weeks, I feel like I haven't seen friends! I have consistently argued that Queer Eye has been positive for LGBT visibility and acceptance. If you didn't know this, there have been LOTS of editorials in the gay press calling the Fab Five "sellouts", "Uncle Toms" , "minstrels" etc. because these editorial writers take offense at people who belong to a group that's treated like 2nd-class citizens in this country (that would be the LGBT community!) entertaining, serving, and beautifying those who have heterosexual privilege and power.

As I said, I've always disagreed with those naysayers. But lately, I find MYSELF feeling offended and aggrieved by the current "Wedding Season" on QE. I even turned off the TV one episode - something I never thought I'd do. Does anyone besides me see that big old elephant in the living room? Here we have the Fab Five coordinating, celebrating, and gushing over these posh weddings for heterosexual couples - while on the flip side, same sex couples not only have NO rights to marriage anywhere but Massuchusetts, but even worse, have been attacked, vilified and scapegoated by the far right for even WANTING equal civil rights! The "threat" of gay marriage was even used by the right wing as an election-year "wedge issue".

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? Are we going to see at least one same-sex committment ceremony this season? Why don't the Fab Five do a make-over for a relatively butch woman who wants to propose to her girlfriend? Could the show's producers manage to work in SOME serious content about the unfairness of the denial of marriage rights to same-sex couples, like a "hip tip" about the more than 1,000 rights married people automatically receive just for tying the knot? Someone at QE needs to get a clue! We in the LGBT community are tired of being "always the bridesmaids", especially when some of our own are out there very visibly celebrating the rights of straight people - rights we are denied and are vilified for even seeking.

I have to say, I absolutely agree with you. I was dismayed that all three wedding episodes involved heterosexual couples when they could have really made a statement by doing a gay couple. I couldn't even finish watching the Joe and Laura episodes. It's not the Fab 5 I have a problem with, it's Scout and Bravo, both of which seem to destroyed the heart and soul of the show. It's strange, because I'm rather disappointed with the show now, but my love for the guys remains strong.
