I can't believe I missed the first 7 minutes of the show, I don't think I will ever forgive myself for being too caught up in something else to miss QE! And they are not showing a repeat anytime tonight, so I will have to wait until tomorrow at 3pm.
Oh well I enjoyed the rest of it, Thom makes my jaw drop with every episode...and he's a great interior designer haha. Not only did Jai get a cute little haircut, but I think Ted is sporting new glasses, which I can't decide if I like or not, I just noticed he looked a little different.
All that I have to say is, Im a new homo. . .ner and Zuchinni!

I've enjoyed QE from the start, but this is the first time my husband watched an entire episode with me. He was tearing up right along with Jai at the end! We are trying to find out about the razor Kyan gave to Rob that was especially made for shaving curly/African-American hair. He mentions in the hip tips that they should use a single blade razor. Who makes one---does anyone know?

This was a better episode than I thought it would be! Rob was really a nice guy too. His apartment had me...uhhh...concerned? Like Jai said, he wasn't lacking in culture, it was just all over the place.
That dish that Ted had him cook up looked delish! Especially in those bowls! Had me thinking "presentation presentation". White dishes to make a meal stand out but color depending on the dish. The colorful fish soup concoction really looked appetizing(sp?) in those green bowls.
Carson was a card in this episode! Omg, I thought he wouldn't be able to contain himself, lol! "Zucchini zucchini zucchini!" His hair looked fantastic tonight! And on the subject of hair - Kyans has grown out WAY too much in the hip tip clip! Needs a little taming (picks up shield to brace against the tomatoes thrown by the Kyanites). BUT...Jai's hair looks great grown out longer!
Kyan dressed in Rob's shower curtain and Thom in the daishiki were a trip! And I died laughing when they were breaking stuff! Ted broke a glass, Thom and Kyan broke a statue...I was like "OOOOO!" Isn't it scary how you automatically say "ooooo" because it's a habit from childhood when you knew your mom or dad was going to beat your butt for doing something you shouldn't have, lol!
And lastly, but never in my heart, my husband-of-a-million-wives Thom - does he know how to read people or what! The house looked incredible! I'm not much for red, but the whole theme worked so dang well for Rob! I swear, I'm just going to stop wondering what Thom can do for a place because I should so know by now! I'm just going to take it for granted that he can do it - because he can! He's like the McGyver of interior decorating!

Since there is so much diversity in the SGs' careers and marital statuses, it's fitting that there is more racial diversity as well. Next week's straight guy is Asian. Remember the Vincent T. episode? It must've aired originally in July or early August. I didn't begin watching until mid or late August and that episode wasn't rerun until I was away on vacation. The only way I was able to see it was by downloading it from Kazaa. But the Jeff T. show has been rerun to hell and back.

Excellent, as always (apartment was AMAZING looking) but one miss on the tech side: the Lexmark printer is not a good choice for black & white photo printing. A serious Photog will need a printer with an extra grey cartridge (available from HP or Epson). Most Inkjets are OK for color, but greyscale of B&W photo needs something special.
Sorry, tech geek here - let me know if you need a "6th" for the technology in peoples lives.

First of all, MAJOR *SNAPS* to Roberto Cavalli for the Fab 5 wardrobe tonight!!!!! Awesome threads on our boys!
I also noticed some different hair on Thom and Jai. Oooooh...and Ghod! Kyan's hair in the Hip Tip in the middle of the show! <gasp!> He usually tszujes (there - I spelled it right!) up the front, but doesn't wear it down often enough. And in the Hip Tip at the end, he wore a style I've never seen on him. It seems like he can pull at least 5 different looks out of that one haircut. And the color of it intrigues me - sometimes it looks light brown, sometimes medium and sometimes almost a dark brown, depending on the light. I wonder if perhaps he has a medium brown base with the thinnest, most subtle light brown highlights woven in or something.
Uhm...Oh, yeah, about the show, hee-hee! It seemed like Ted and Thom were breaking everything. It must've broken the hearts of Thom fans when he said he couldn't understand why he's still single. I liked the scene with Kyan thinking the art was some sort of fertility god and Carson's reference to "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" (I'm a fan of old movies). I loved Rob's place, but the event could've been timed better so he would've had more time to get ready and the guests wouldn't have come so early. Not sure if I liked Ted's new specs, but they added variety to his look. I laughed when Rob was putting on the latex gloves and Thom said he was getting the party started. And, we Kyan fans were brokenhearted to hear him utter, "We're not gonna do much for her sex life". Truth hurts. More tears of joy when Jai cried. Oh, how cyooot! And Ted got to have so much fun in his Hip Tip.

I couldn't take my eyes off Jai's hair being worn down because it looks great and also because I had Jai on the brain today. He's so cute I feel like scooping him up in my arms and squeezing his cheeks. Why am I dreaming about other Fab 5 members? First one of Thom and now Jai? I hope I don't dream about Carson or Ted in a pleasant way because I'm not attracted to them. In last night's dream, Jai, Kyan and a group of nonfamous people were all sitting around a table at a party. I spotted Jai and he opened his arms to give me a great big hug. I didn't feel turned on per se, but all warm and fuzzy. I was about to go on my way after the hug, but Jai asked if I could stay, so I sat in his lap and he continued to embrace me warmly. (Okay, maybe it felt a bit more than platonic ) I looked at Kyan across the table and we said hi, but he seemed to be off in his own little world. There was this mean flooze sitting next to him and she knew he was paying her no mind, so to try to get his attention she started loudly going on about how stinky, ugly and tiny my feet are. I took her shoe off and although she was tall, it turned out that her feet were tinier than mine and ugly as well and Kyan saw it and was grossed out. Ha! Ha!
I think the feet thing was brought on by watching the John Z. episode on my tape earlier that night.

I was facinated again my Thom's work. I would love to win a day with him to have him do over a room or two. I just don't have a hint of his eyes or talent. I enjoyed the show but thought the guy was a bit "stiff". Did he ever really say "Thank you". Sometimes he would just stand there. Maybe he couldn't help it, but there definitely was a subdued nature there. I felt bad when Jay gave him the printer and he barely said anything. Do they think they can just take things now and it's just "part of the deal"? Did like his speech to his mom and girlfriend later though.

Definetly one of the best! This episode is why I watch QE. This is why they call the show a "make-better" show instead of a "make-over". Rob wasn't a total nut case or hopeless slob or someone looking for publicity. There were aspects of his life that really needed a helping hand (or 5 helping hands). He had a legitimate event (the meeting of godmother and gf) that was cute, funny and inspiring. I'm with Kyan, I'd love to hang out with these people. It's true: the true worth of a man can be determined by the company he keeps.
The guys did another great job. The apartment fit Rob to a T. The food looked yummy, the clothes were dead on and thank you Kyan for not messing with his hair! And Jai has such wonderful insight into these guys. He doesn't hand them their dream but guilds them into making it happen for themselves. And his advice for introducing the gf and gm was right on.
I'll be rewatching this one many more times.

I really enjoyed seeing a dreadlocked guy on QE. I was wondering what Kyan would do with him and I was really impressed with the outcome. His dreads looked really great before Kyan stepped in and they looked even better after they were groomed. I am a black woman with locks about the length of Rob's and I definitely learned something from seeing how the woman at the salon groomed Rob's hair! I'm going to have to go and get a hot oil treatment soon. Fab 5, you're not just helping straight guys; you're reaching everyone! Keep up the good work of making us all better. LOVE THE SHOW!

I really, really liked this one. I thought Rob was great, I loved his photography, and I was very pleased that Kyan didn't whack his dreadlocks off. His redone apartment looked fantastic, and although I don't care for red, Thom is a genius and it worked. (Same with the lime green in the Steve Smith one. Ordinarily I'd think ICK, but I was ready to move in when Thom was finished with it.)
And it had such a great ending - I loved all his friends and his girlfriend and I loved his godmother, and although (like Ted) I think I'm quite bitter and jaded, I was verging on tears myself! And, yeah, he should have been ready earlier and shouldn't have been greeting his guests in a towel, but somehow I found it kind of sweet.

I loved this episode! I think my favorite ones are the ones when the guys act really goofy and funny. They really act just the way a bunch of best friends hangin' together would act. Anyways...some of my favorite parts...when they broke that statue and Thom said 'Oh Sh*t!'...when Ted said to Jai 'you got some cheese on your face, little fella!'...the whole zuchini bit. That was too funny. Rob seemed to be very nice and appreciated all that the Guys did for him. Also...can Thom ever be anything less than CUTE in every single episode? I don't think so. The only down side, in my opinion, was Carson's coat and the mink covered bench ( I think that's what it was) Real fur belongs on it's original owner! Kudos for all the rest. P.S. Ted seems to be coming out of his shell more and more lately (Snaps for Ted!)

This was a great episode! I had to disagree with Carson on the pastels on Mr. "Chocolate Thunder"--i thought they looked washed out on him and that strong colors were better.
Did you notice Ted's hair and different glasses in the loft after when they were viewing the dinner party? It was different than he usually wears and it looked good on him.
I'd like to adopt Jai.

I thought this episode was FABULOUS! I loved Rob, he was insanely sweet and lighthearted.
Carson: It cracked me up how Rob had to say "Zuccini" every 5 minutes in the store so that Kyan would come rescue him from Carson. Classic. The outfits that Carson picked out were amazing. I loved Rob in pink. He looked really good.
Thom: Oh My Gawd! The apartment looked soo good! I wanted to pick up everything I have, move to New York, and pay anything to get that place. It looks so nice now. All the art looked great too. Two thumbs up for Thom on this one!
Ted: Yum Yum Yum... that stew looked so yummy, and props to the guy for doing the entire thing by himself too. It looked like it took a while.
Jai: Rob's pictures were so beautiful, I loved the pictures he had throughout the city. He is very very talented.
Kyan: Thank you for saving those beautiful dreadlocks. They looked great once he was done! A+ job!
I thought it was just a great all around episode!

I watched this episode last night...and was moved to tears! I thought here is a Tall macho man type who is so cuddly, tender and so concerned for his lady, friends, and God Mother that you become so intrigued to get to know him more! How incredibly polished are the Fab 5 not only for their obvious talents...but for their kindred spirit's to be able to pass on that inner magic to others! I sat there and thought how incredible a person is when they can bring both men and women to tears of endearment from the soul! :-)
THe Fab. 5 are truly a blessing to all that are around them wither it be in person or afar tuning in! They turned a wonderful man into an incredible man by showing him that he can show off all the hidden goodies he hid insde of himself! :-)

I agree with everything.
If I had not heard Kyan SAY he was gay I would swear he was at least bi. He is so incredibly sensitive to the people around him, male and female. He is able to put people around him at ease (even, after a while, the cop who was nervous being in the black "speedos" at the tan place) and just look at how well he dealt with Richard and the decision to live without the hairpiece. The shot of him saying "right here" when Rob said "zuccini" in the dressing room clearly showed his sensitivity as well.
All the guys are great, don't get me wrong. One of the beauties of this show is how it showcases the strengths of each of the guys.

I loved this episode.
My favorite moments involved Thom and Kyan.
Let me break it down.
Thom: I really liked how Thom appreciated the ethnic ascethic(?) of
Rob's home. I like how Thom really understood that Rob's ethnic
heritage was really important to him and he was able to brilliantly
(IMO) put the pieces that Rob had together with some truly nice
modern and ethnic pieces. From what I could tell Thom did not get
rid of any of Rob's own ethnic artwork. He just changed the
furnishings.
Kyan: You could tell that Kyan really knows his stuff or he really
does his homework. Not every one who is a grooming expert really
knows much about all types of hair and grooming. Kyan obviously did
his homework about Dredlocks. I would have been so upset if he had
suggested that the guy cut his dreds. Not all people appreciate
them, or even knows that much about the upkeep of them.
Great Episode

I immediately noticed Ted's silverish wire glasses, and LOVED them. They are so much more flattereing than the little black plastic jobs. I really am over the nerd/cool thing anyway!
I wouldn't mind if they spent a "little" less time making fun of the straight guy (at least in this case, it was just a tiny bit forced) and a little more time showing what all Thom does. (Of course...I love the show! Don't take my "nit picks" the wrong way! ) Thom's "overhauls" are often so amazing, and the show has breezed by them so quickly (for me at least) I have often been left wondering exactly what was done.
Cooking a big meal is very time consuming and I'm not surprised Rob wasn't ready. I think Ted should have helped him with all the slicing early on during the day when he was there...then Rob could have just dumped a lot of the veges in, added seasonings, and cubed the fish for the last bit.
Sometimes I think all the individual instructions from each of the fab five becomes overwhelming, when combined. Being mentally prepared to to something "big" (engagement, etc) redoing your total look, and preparing an elegant feast is a lot to ask of even the most seasoned home entertainer. Course, maybe watching the straight guy freak out is part of the fun? I get uncomfortable though.

I ADORED this episode! Rob was just a standup guy with both the Fab 5 & his friends & family - he treated Mildren with such regal respect...it was very heart-warming.
The overall theme of the episode, to me, was brushing off old remains & giving new life to a better, new self: for someone who has had a very destructive, tumultuous relationship in the fairly recent past, I felt inspired by Rob's regained love for life & self...the whole episode just made you feel warm & fuzzy inside.
Not that they don't always, but the guys really tuned into Rob's inner self. Everything made perfect sense: Thom even kept that glaring-warm color wall paint in a sense that worked.
And Jai cried again! Oh...he is just so precious.
(Although I will say the stripe on his shirt at the end - a little too Miss America sash for me; I hope the Jai faithfuls won't go too crazy on me...)

lol - nah girl, you're fine! I missed it and will look for it when I watch the tape again tonight. When I first watch the shows, I usually take in the big things first then re-watch the tape to trickle down to the smaller details...not that I'll remember anything, but still taking them in

The Kabbalah red string signifies warding off "evil" (which of course is open to interpretation). Cin Cin (pronounced chin chin) is an Italian toast roughly translated as a wish to enjoy the repast in good health. Now I sound like a pompous know-it-all but I hope it helps.
