What did you think of James' & Rocco's new "leash" on life? Post 'em right here!
oshma
I want to see more of Nemo!
natylite78
James did a great job. Too bad his girlfriend was unappreciative, criticizing, and high maintenance!
tommyo
Kinda brutal - his girl didn't seem to care that he was putting forth a pretty significant amount of effort for her. The cooking part was obviously difficult for James, but still - I think he deserves the credit for working hard.

Other thoughts?
FiliciaFanatic
Wow, what a train wreck. We finally have one that came out worse than Alan Corey -- but in Alan's case, he was sorta irritating, while with James, I just felt really, really bad for him.

The thing is, you could see that he started as a really uptight guy, but the Fab 5 broke down that stiffness a bit and helped him loosen up and focus on the girlfriend. He may have neglected to pen up the dog, he may have managed to mess up sorbet in an ice cream maker (I didn't know that could be done), he may have screwed up the chocolate work he did so well before, he may have completely given up on ironing and shaved like he was trying to slice his face off, but he tried. He tried, and he really was making an honest effort to make it a special night for Taebee.

And then she was even more uptight than he started out being -- she criticized the food, she criticized the dessert he made, she criticized the massage, all without once giving him credit for all of his hard work. Sure, it didn't all come out so great, but she could've at least laughed it off and thanked him for trying so hard to give her a special night.

I wonder what will become of their relationship from here. It seems to me like maybe they got along because they were both kinda uptight, and I wonder if his slightly-more-relaxed self will find compatibility problems with her now. Heck, maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing. Granted, I don't know Taebee in real life, but it seems to me that she doesn't appreciate him very much and maybe he could do better.
cat4554
James tried BUT I have to agree with the guys - the girlfriend didn't try to encourage him. what's up with her?
I would have been thrilled.
Gee, I wish my husband of 23 years would show a little tenderness. I need to speak to that female.
Kipsey
What a disaster! I don't really see much change in this guys life other than his new TV. It's not like he even needed a "make better" So he had one too many couches, his dog isn' trained...umm his poor fireplace was being ignored, this is not worth an episode. Sorry - Although I still enjoyed watching, its the Fab Five.
Caseygrrl
Well, in spite of the disaster that occurred, the fab five did a wonderful job. I'd say that James doesn't know his girl as well as he thinks he does because they made their plans based on *his* descriptions. She was a bit harsh.

What I liked best though is the fact that they finally addressed the pet issue. Several times before vague references have been made to pets but they have NEVER shown the animal or made any "space" for them. Litterboxes, pet food bowls, puppy crates and cat scratching posts are facts of real life. To pretend that they don't exist doesn't help.

I applaude Jai for the training sessions! James needs them more than Rocco! Rocco is just being a dog, and there's nothing worse than an undisciplined dog tearing up your place. The dog won't be happy without a firm guiding "lead dog" human in charge either. There's no excuse for not house training. James needs "training" on how to be a responsible pet owner!!

I vote for MORE episodes that address the pet paraphernalia. I have a floor to ceiling cat tree in my living room that is worked into the decor. It is rustic and beautiful, it is a piece of functional sculpture. My cats are members of my family; they deserve a little style! I think a lot of people feel this way. Carson was so cute playing with the little puppy and his pea coat couture was just perfect. ;-)

Wasn't Jai darling with his little Nemo?

Okay, good episode overall. It had humor, sapiness (for those who are into that sort of thing) and even failure. This straight guy is nice looking, down to Earth, has a nice voice, is a jock ("Athletes are hot...") and plays golf. I liked how he resisted a bit at first, then came around. I don't care for his tastes in food. Spam?! Ugh! Not to diss his culture, but I don't care for Korean food, especially kimchi - if it stinks that bad, I won't eat it. I don't understand why he doesn't keep his dog on the balcony, especially since it's not housebroken yet. And "pee-wee pads" as Thom called them? I thought they were for incontinent elderly women. Even as a mere viewer, I could totally imagine how that apartment smelled. What was that weird mask Carson wore? That was scarier than "Jason" in Friday 13th. Is this guy in theater, too? I like when Carson cried when Ted put dried fish down the back of his shirt. Jai's hair is so versatile - the curls really fem up his look. I love how he took Nemo to the training, too. I did not agree with Carson choosing preppy clothes for Rob M., but it worked for James' sensibilities. Kyan looked so beautiful laying down with his eyes closed in the Thai massage lesson. ("I watch you when you're sleeping, and I wanna take your love" - Frampton) James and the masseur were lucky as hell to get to do the backroll on Kyan! I'm so jealous! And not only is he Kyan, but now he's learning golf! ~~swoon~~ Dear lord, so ideal, yet so unavailable! I finally got some good laughs when James was left to his own devices. I didn't care for his girlfriend at all. She reminds me of "Lisa" on the Tom K. episode. I mean, this guy genuinely cared for her, did his best, has his act together and made it all about her, and all she could do was criticize and not appreciate it. Yet the dog pees everywhere, but that's who gets her attention and affection. James, boy, you deserve better. If you ever dump her, let us know Just don't stay bitter afterward.
pixiedust
He was so cute.
pixiedust
What's going with Jai's hair, people? It was looking good in the last few weeks, HOWEVER...this episode, it appears he got a (gasp!) PERM!!!!! KYAN, HELP HIM!!!!!
brillke
I felt so bad for the guy. no matter what he did his girlfriend wasnt happy. he wasnt a great catch in my book but the poor guy almost gave himself a heart attack trying to please her.
brillke
Belle
I think the guy needed a new girlfriend. She didn't like anything except the apartment. As much as the guy was trying she just didn't respond positively at all. Maybe with the "make-better" he can get a better girlfriend.

As usual the Fab 5 did an outstanding job with what they had to work with. It sounded to me like they were disappointed that the girlfriend was not more appreciative of the effort James was making. It's ironic to me that it was she who made the application for James to appear on the show.

Did you see our guy, Ky, golfing? That guy is pretty good!
Sarah_B
Taebee was so NASTY to her charming and newly improved James. Carson was sooo right when he said it takes two to tango. What an ungreatful person! Poor James seems to be the one in need of some pampering and he'd probably be realy greatful too.
Depoetic
Greetings dearest peoples - I'm a 'newbie' here... (Thanks, Bravo, for providing this forum!)

I really enjoyed this episode! I've often wondered how the straight guys REALLY feel about seeing their possessions so freely trashed by our 5 miracle workers... so it was refreshing to me to see someone get upset, and be honest about it. It was greatly to his credit that James was able to eventually able to relax and enjoy it. Too bad Tabee wasn't readily able to do the same. Perhaps it was having a romantic time with the man she loves -- all the while a CAMERA MAN is in her face! (SURPRISE!!)

I loved Jai's willingness to share the part of his life that he and James had in common - their untrained little Yorkies. (Nemo, like your master, you're just the CUTEST!)
Oh, and Jai... I REALLY appreciate your openness. Culture is more than just tickets to a Broadway show - and you OBVIOUSLY know that! It is also interpersonal communication, awareness of environment, and consideration of personal backgrounds. From the episode where you taught the young man how to say, "I love you" in the native language of his lady love - to this episode telling straight men everywhere that we women like to be regularly touched sensually without overt sexual overtone... HURRAH FOR YOU!!!! I also appreciate your free emotional expression. It is a great treasure to have a heart so open. Protect that. Don't let life jade you. (Peace to you!)

Ted (Sorry, have to interject -- Hon, you have the MOST beautiful eyes!) ...Ted's choice of deserts - 'TARTS' for a woman with a serious sweet tooth? I agree they were the right choice to go with the meal that was served... but since the guys didn't get a chance to meet her and take a personal 'read' of her... maybe it would have been better to go heavier on the 'sweet' aspect. I thought you were cool as ever, Ted! It is always clear when watching you that you LOVE what you do. I ALWAYS learn such great things when watching your segments! (Love the smile and the dimples too!) Joy to you!

Carson was wonderful in this episode (as per ALWAYS)... and GOODNESS sweetie! I hope you didn't get hurt too bad falling back into that wall! (... And BAD Teddy for putting fishies down our Cutie-Carson's shirt!) I appreciated getting to see Carson show James how to care for his clothes more than just getting him wooden hangers. Snaps to Carson. ...Thanks for always making me laugh, Carson - you are a truly gorgeous treasure to behold! (WHAT a collectible!) Grace to you!

Kyan (you absolute doll!) really shined in this episode. What a wonderful idea to teach the straight guy how to give a massage to his lady love - with nod to culture - and to give him more than just personal grooming skills! It was also great that he asked for James's thought process about the grooming process to reinforce that he UNDERSTOOD Kyan. (Hmmmm... Kyan makes me want to take up golf! He! He!)
Also - Kyan... have you been working out? Compared to the first episodes... you're becoming even more delish than ever! Hugs to you!

And then there's Thom! Lawdy lawdy! I hope there isn't a broken bough on that tree! I just got sick with laughter! The place was breath-taking as always! What a spectacular artist you are, dear sir! (And seriously hot in the dark suit and peach striped shirt during the reveal - I MUST say!) I've always watched makeover shows and enjoyed them - but from the first time I caught y'all's happy/funny little show - I have been aghast with wonderment at your profound talent! Congrats on the sponsorship deals with Pier 1, Xerox and Entrepeneur Magazine! Much love and admiration to you!

Dearest James - take heart. Do not be discouraged by that one night. Take what the guys told you and showed you and continue to put the effort in. The more you continue with Jai's instruction both with Tabee and Rocco... things will fall into place and grow. Both need your focus and attention - Tabee to soften to your efforts, and Rocco to become more obedient. Don't give up. You're a magnificent 'catch' and a sweetheart of a guy. Remember - the love you pour into the people (and pets) in your life will return to you a hundred fold.

Rocco! You lil' cutie! Mind your master! He's the Alpha doggie! Ruff! Reuff! Ruff! Ok?

Peace to all who pass by here!
Hugs and kisses too! --De

Well...I kinda thought this episode moved rather quickly-especially Thom and Carson's segments. Rocco was really cute. It seemed like the Guys really liked him! James...I'm with Thom; he seemed a little uptight to say the least. In the beginning I was concernred he might have an aneurysm (sp?) when they were cleaning out the place. My favorite part had to be the whole massage bit with the girlfriend. I laughed my butt off when he was rolling on her and she was screaming. I give James alot of credit for trying to please someone who seemed darn-right unpleasable! Snaps for his effort. The Guys did great (as usual). Jai and Nemo were so darn cute. I'm wondering if Rocco goes potty in the house cuz James is gone all the time and he can't get outside to go. He might try to litter-box train the dog. He's small enough; and it'd save the wooden floors!
vista
I don't think his biggest problem was his wardrobe or his housing decor. I think it was his personality. But even with that in mind, does anybody deserve a girlfriend who is so critical and cold? On a positive note, I loved the dog.
JayStizo
Was it me or was James' girlfriend really hard to please; reminds me of an ex I had. I thought what they did with his place was very clean. Kyan could've worked with his hair a bit more since I felt it was somewhat boring. The recommendation of white strips gave me a chuckle.
Maggie
WOW. Alan Corey, watch out, there's a new guy in town! James totally... well... he tried. I have to give him that much. And if only his girlfriend would've been more mature and appreciative, it may have turned out better. I mean, she calls Queer Eye to come do a make over on her boyfriend, and then she just criticizes his performance. Was anyone else bothered by the fact that after he said stuff about how he was going to try and do things better and how much he loved her, she just said, "Thank you." That bugged me.
How cute was Rocco? And don't even get me started on Nemo, that lucky dog. Rocco NEEDS obedience training. If nothing else, I hope that James follows through on that. Just a side note: did anyone notice that the sweater that Nemo was wearing when James and Jai were in the front of the dog "spa" almost perfectly matched Jai's shirt from the Christmas episode? Eh, what can I say, I'm a mimi
I was in hysterics when Rocco bit Carson's nose. Notice, Jai was trying not to laugh, but how can you NOT? And I thought James was going to kill Kyan and Thom for pulling down his blinds. I was starting to get a little frustrated, he wasn't open to them tearing up the place. What did you think they were going to do, come in and compliment everything? This is the FAB FIVE, they're there to criticize you (constructively) and give you a make-better.
One of my favorite moments from the night came from Thom, when he was holding the blow torch. "What the hell does he have this for?" I was kinda wondering, "What the hell are you playing with that for?" Pyromaniac Filicia on the loose...
All in all, I think it was an okay episode, not one of the better ones. It sure did make good TV, though. And at the end, when the FF toasted to ROCCO? Harsh, man, harsh. But funny, man, funny.
Can I take one more moment of your time and talk about the Hip Tips at the end of the show, puh-lease? Okay, I'm going to ramble on whether you said yes or no. Carson in the shower... hmm. I half-expected one of the other FF members to pop up right next to him, but no go. Also, I hereby declare Nemo Rodriguez (I guess that's his last name) the luckiest dog on Earth! Squeeeeee

Okay, I'm sure you'll all be delighted to know that I'm ending the post now. -dodges tomatoes thrown at her head- Meep... -runs away- But I'll be watching you!
tiggertuf
I really didn't enjoy this episode as much as some of the others. In the beginning of the episode he was pissing me off the way he was treating the guys. (But then again maybe i would act like that if five strangers came into my house and started destroying it). I also didn't like how Taebee was so nasty to him, she wasn't appreciative at all to what James was trying to do. He realized he was neglecting her and needed to start treating her better and she was just blowing everything off. the effort he was putting forth should have made her happy. at least in the "make room for Lisa" episode Lisa was appreciative of Tom's efforts.

oh, and I love animals. But I hated that little dog. he has no control over Rocco. plus he forgot to lock the dog in the cage...
RegularFoot
You know, I thought this episode was painful to watch. James obviously made the effort but nothing worked out well for him. It reminded me of the Alan episode where he broke a pitcher or glasses or something.

I think if he would've just calmed down a bit, things would have been better, or at least the prep part anyway. James seemed to be kinda bland too. Anyone else think that?

The dogs though really made it easier for me to watch through all of it. My girlfriend loved it though. She thought it was hilarious that the guy was so uptight in the beginning and nothing worked out well for him. Not in a mean way but a simpathetic/humorous way. She absolutely loved the dogs.

kys_grace
OK,this guy was a total spaz, but he still didn't need that girlfriend making it worse! I liked how Kyan pointed out how immature she was. I liked how the guys were having fun with how uptight he was in the beginning, pulling down his blinds and Thom knocking over the lamp as they were leaving.smile.gif

Did you notice that through all he was trying to do for her, she never even gave him a kiss, returned his affectionate touches or anything - heck, she kissed the dog!

Hey, peeps, another 'newbie' here. I taped the show last night as I've been sick for the past few days and I fall asleep at the drop of a hat, so I watched it this morning in the company of my girl kitty Drusilla.

Can I say "high maintenance, unappreciative bitca"? What the hell was wrong with James' girlfriend? I admit the guy spazzed out big time and messed up things that he'd seemed to grasp/understand quite quickly, but for her to be complaining non-stop without acknowledging any of the changes the Fab 5 had helped him make, was completely ridiculous and out of place. She praised the new décor and Carson's work just in passing, when she was the one who'd called in the Fab 5 in the first place! If I were James, I'd drop her so fast her head would spin!

That's it for now...

T. =^,,^=

James,
As you said it, what a train wreck. But I loved how he embraced trying new things. All I can say is get rid of the girlfriend, he deserves so much better. And hopefully, she will watch this and see how badly she behaved. Besides, she was the one that started the whole thing. She wrote to the Fab 5

You'd think he'd know from watching the show that yes, they're gonna tear your place completely apart until it looks like a tornado went through (even if it was already a wreck), but don't worry, they're gonna clean it up eventually and even fix it up so it looks a whole lot better.

The trainer Jai took James to had the right idea. Crate training is a time-tested and respected way to deal with dogs. They feel protected in their "den" (the crate) and, as pack animals, learn respect for the human who to the dog is the "alpha dog". They won't soil their "den" and will "hold it" until the owner takes them outside.

She was so unresponsive to everything he did that I actually wondered if perhaps she'd come over that night intending to break up with him, and then of course couldn't do THAT.

And I want to give her a little credit for perhaps being nervous at the unexpected cameras filming her - but STILL. Like Kyan said, she COULD have said she liked the desert, even if she really didn't. You don't always have to be brutally honest.
Kipsey
Maybe Taebee will end up reading this forum and realizing how sour her attitude is. James is a cool guy and all, but like I said - Im not sure if he was worth an episode, I do give him credit for trying though. Carson was wearing a cup (for athletes) on his face, not a tiny little mask haha. Thats pretty disgusting actually. yuck

Maybe he... *gasp*... had never see the show. Of course looks like when he found out they were doing him, he'd go watch a few episodes real quick. I don't know how much warning they get, but it's on Bravo constantly. If he gets Bravo.

I just have to say, though, both those dogs were so cute that they made me want a Yorkie. And I'm a cat person. I'd want a better behaved one than Rocco, but he was adorable, ill-manners and all.
theid456
A subpar episode. I didn't feel any connection or even a sense of appreciation from James (nor his gf). The episode with Rob was pretty hard to follow though.

As for Taebee, she does seem high maitenence as many have said, but I wonder if she was extra bitter from not being able to interact with the Fab 5 like some other GFs on previous shows (who woudn't want to hang out with those guys!). She sent in the application, so I'm sure she wanted to be a part of the show as well. However, the main reason she sent the application was to get her man changed...and in the end, I didn't see any sort of gratitude. So I wonder if James and Taebee were worth the Fab 5's time in the first place.

It was fun watching everything mess up though :-)
KyansBabe
I was absolutley drooling when they were giving Kyan the Thai massage! Seeing him lying there... all relaxed and enjoying being touched! Shazam! When he said he felt like he needed another hand "right here" , I was yelling.... I'll do it!!! My son was just rolling his eyes and saying, " Mom, calm down."

Thanks for the welcome Belle... I very much appreciate it!

But to my point... It's ONE thing to realize you're going to be on the show and then know why the camera is there - it is another to be a person who perhaps doesn't prefer a lot of PDA - and to be laying on a bed with your boyfriend's hand on your chest for the world to watch.

The friends I have that are Asian are very discreet in matters of love.

These things are shot over the course of a few days - so James had the opportunity to grow accustomed to the presence of the cameras... She DID put in the application, but it was a surprise that they actually DID come. I think she may not be publically demonstrative - and I'm preferring to give her the benefit of that doubt.

I only have a few things to say for this episode...

1. He was finally being romantic, caring for her, giving her a massage, and all she can do is complain. Ugh. She needs a serious reality check, if she thinks she can get guys to act nicer then that with her personality, she is sadly mistaken.

2. I didn't think anything in this show was extremely wonderful. The aparment looked good (like usual) but it wasn't one of my faves. I wasn't a huge fan of those cargoish pants Carson got him, I was upset with the soup sorbet (I thought it would have been so good).

Well all in all, not a favorite episode of mine, but I do have to say my boyfriend was half asleep the whole time, and I could help but let out a huge squeel when Jai was haning with the dogs. My guy did a little jump "What?! What?!" Needless to say he wasn't all too happy with my reason for waking him up.
love4fab5
Wow
And seriously I mean wow.
It is just so unbelievable how James could receive so little appreciation from his girlfriend (whose name seems to escape me). If I was in her shoes (her now 'doggy chewed' shoes), I would be more in love with my boyfriend than ever before!

I guess everyone can learn from this episode. Treat the one you love with great respect.

I also realized something. Jay is like Nemo. They are both small and adorable! Just a little side thought...smile.gif

Am I the only one with a twisted sense of humor? I was laughing hysterically throughout most of the show. James freaked out while the guys tore his house apart, so what do Thom & Carson do? Throw his couch over the balcony, naturally. Nothing was working out, but James just kept going, like the Energizer Bunny. At the end, when he was doing the massage, Kyan was yelling at the TV, Don't roll over her! I was ROTFL yelling at my TV, Yes, roll over her! I knew James would, remember he said he was going to make the Fab 5 proud? He's a man of his word. When everything goes wrong, sometimes you just gotta laugh. Our guys seemed to have fun & laughed a lot. That's what I love to see. I hope James & Taebee (sp?) appreciate the adventure they had by now.

Loved Jai's hair in the episode. Thought it looked adorable. Agree with whomever said that it's not a perm, it's natural. He let it do what it's supposed to do, which is why it probably looked so becoming on him.
my_guy_ky
Hi, Kipsey, thanks for the info. Not into sports, so I'm not totally sure what this "cup" is. Is it like a jockstrap? Now, those I've seen. There was this hot footb-...uhm... Athletes are h-...I mean...They showed one in the Butch episode and one or two others. Yeah, that's the ticket.
People are comparing this show to the Alan C. one, I guess because of the "trainwreck" element. At least James was alot more likeable and cooperative and not miserly. Taebee submitted her guy for this show and when she berated him for not getting things right, he must've felt like he'd been set up. Cameras and reserve about PDA aside, she is over 21 and she's all squeemish about his hands being near her boobs? Is she saving herself for marriage? I guess they've been together over a year and 1/2 and she still hasn't put out. Just seems that way, because she seems so uncomfortable being touched by him. When she criticized the massage and the food, not only is that against James, but it also puts down Kyan's and Ted's efforts in this show. It was like casting pearls before swine. Come on, Taebee, would you rather he just take you to the sports bar, as usual? And you, James, I hope you love her for more than just looks. Pretty faces are a dime a dozen.
Speaking of looks, I'm usually not into facial hair, but Kyan looks incredible even with his beard. ~~~swoon~~~

Yup, Jai's got curls a-plenty. You can really see it in this episode, and some of the other ones where he's got semi-long hair, and it's curled at the ends. I'm one of 'em that prefers it straightened on almost anyone, but I honestly don't think that Jai could look bad in anything. Half of it's the attitude, people... -rambles on AGAIN-

Sorry, forgot to ask before. Kipsey, or anyone: if it's not a mask, what ARE those holes for, anyway?

theid 456, I agree that she may have been disappointed, but I think that is too nice for this girl. She was a bonifide, certifiable, extreme B*&#@ with a great big B!

She was so unappreciative of the SG. I mean yes, the guy was such a klutzo, but at least he was a good natured klutzo. At least he tried.

I think that the girlfriend Tae bo ( I know her
real name, but she deserved a TK0) really sent an app to the show so that she/the boyfriend could get free clothes, and furniture. She was only had really good things to say about his clothes and the furniture. I don't think she really cared what else the guys did with this guy.

I wonder if there is any thing the show can do if this is the case with this woman. I doubt it, since I am sure that many of the people who apply for the program are probably applying because they need the help, and also they realize that they will probably get new stuff.

It's a shame that people would do that though. I guess there is really no way for the show to screen out these types of people right????

After seeing how his girlfriend acted....THANK GOD I'M GAY.
Loved Nemo.

Oh yes. Pretty clever girl sells infatuated Academic Asian
Guy to show. Cute guy, nice as, and reserved as, Blair.
Show would have been complete Dud if 5 Gay Guys didn't rev
up the antics (couch over balcony) and showcase the wee pee
puppy. Materialistic frosty girl can't/won't enjoy date.
Fans get irked. Next show- re-run of sleaze-jockey! sigh!

No thank you to Carson for making the ironing of shirts look
so easy! (I turned down the volume for that bit.) When I
hang my guys shirts on back of the closet door all spiffy-
he really appreciates it. I mean Really. As he should.
And, no..., I'm not showering with his shirts. I'm not that
desperate- yet. And stop wearing Kyans shirt. Don't tease!

Speaking of Kyan- I love him more when he's assertive. It
was always there, but I first sat up and cheered when he
told that sleaze-bar d.j. to clean his own toilet and bathe
regularly! And he was also firm in this episode- mitigating
the awkward product placement scene. Carson was a sport to
help with that, and I'm starting to feel protective of Kyan
also. But I'm still jealous of that voice! When
I get mad I practically squeak.

Last bit. Sorry Thom but the huge-screen television over
the fireplace was all kinds of wrong.

I *also* would like to see more of Nemo! What a little cutie-pie!
