They took on a whole fraternity and tried to make it the best little frat house in Texas! What did you think of this total make-better?
totallybisexual
this never goes up is this eraly I want to see this one agin and agin Jai didn't even do anything in this one what gives
signladybc
Oh my gosh! This was the most totally enjoyable episode in a long time!!! I laughed so much. The guys all seemed to be having so much fun!
I loved how they focused on one guy, Cameron, but included and involved all of the brothers.
The food fight was hysterical.
Thom's tables were genius--get the guys to make something--pride of ownership.
I'm so glad the fraternity didn't focus on drinking--here in Boulder we have just recently had a tragedy involving alcohol in a frat rush party.
Didn't quite understand the girls at the pledge party but then I've not been involved in a lot of fraternity/sorrority doings.
The nachos looked duhlishus. I think I might actually try that recipe myself for a party.
Carson had such fun with these self-conscious straight boys and really taught them something about dressing.
Loved Kyan's baskets for grooming for all. Condoms for the feet!
Jai, as always listened to Cameron and really pumped up his self image.
The workout at the Dallas Cowboys field led by D.I. Kyan and the Dallas Cheerleaders including the FF had me rolling.
I was touched by what Cameron said near the end about not knowing anyone gay and having preconceived notions that the FF dispelled. They (Carson, Kyan, Thom, Ted & Jai) seem to be ambassadors again and again for tolerance.
This could have been an ugly show. One frat brother making one off color comment or showing resistance. Instead it was like a huge group of brothers.
I think the other thing Cameron said about his fraternity was very true. Those guys had a lot of class and good manners.
More later when I digest what I've seen and watch again for more details.
Sigma Chi and Fab Five--two fraternities that ROCK!
Cheers,

It was a hellova big assignment but the end result was satisfying entertainment without sacrificing the basic formula of the series. By keeping the focus on the rush chairman as their example, the Fab Five motivated the entire chapter to improve themselves and truly work together as a team towards a mutual goal. If they keep up the good work, they will be the top house on campus for a long time. In a nutshell they went from a loosly knit living situation to a coordinated team. That's a major change in their lifestyle.

The product placements seemed a little awkward, but so what! They have to give credit to the people who foot the bills. Each of the Fab Five added their own talents and helped each other in the process. I can imagine the logistics of the shoot were overwhelming. The good humor flowed freely and everyone had a great time, including us.

so sez Supe, "So many cute men, so little time!"
Fab5Girl
This episode was so much fun! I couldn't stop smiling and there were so many funny moments. I was probably also giddy because of the Texas theme since I live in Texas. When the frat guys kept looking through the free clothes and that one guy was tweezing the other guy's eyebrows, I was thinking that the Fab 5 taught them well, LOL. Cameron is a great leader, hopefully he's made the guys keep the frat house looking good. Thom did an amazing job as usual. I'll definitely have to re-watch this episode a couple more times since it was so great!
Fab5Girl
I forgot to mention that I loved the food fight and Jai was the only Fab 5 guy who didn't get dirty--the other guys should've gone after him and dumped something on him, LOL. I noticed what looked like a bump on Thom's forehead when they were at the hardware store, I wonder if he got it during the food fight?
FiliciaFanatic
Why've they always gotta pick on Thom? They all ganged up on him... no fair. (Darn funny, though... especially outside with the hose, "what, I was trying to help you!" all innocent and playful-like. )

And hey, where can I get me a Sigma Chi guy? No heavy boozing + manners and taste + hotness + straightness = I need me some of that.
notevayas
Funniest bits:

1. Thom suggesting after the foodfight that they all shower together.. "Don't you want to shower with another man!?"
2. Carson tickling "giggles"...and saving him boxer shorts..
3. Ted jumping out of the fridge..
4. Thom asking the frat boys if they poo'd on the stained chairs in the "library with no books"..

Even though there is only a 10 year age difference between the Fab 5 and the frat kids, it seemed that, despite the mild flirting, the Fab 5 took on a sort of paternal teaching role.. especially Thom teaching them to make tables and Kyan teaching fitness and hygeine.
The 'rush chairman' was a good leader and also by example. He had obviously drilled his house on what a good opportunity the Fab Five's involvement was for their house, and the frat brothers were very cooperative. Even Carson had to really push to get any resistance. But these seemed good-natured kids to begin with. They might have gotten a lesson in diversity and tolerance, but so did we. I expected more posturing and negativity and boozing and bad language from the frat guys. I don't get the feeling it was edited out either..

Thom did a fantastic job with color and scale in that ugly cavern of a livingroom. And Carson did a wonderful job choosing clothes that didn't make the guys look like clones. I guess the whole point was to attract new members. Having the pretty girls over as "lures" was smart as I understand that one of the reasons for being in a fraternity is to make points with girls and have a place to invite them to party and have sex. Making home made tortilla chips was also an effective lure, and Ted's field trip to a 5 star Texas restaurant was a hoot, as was Kyan's workout with the Dallas cowboy cheerleaders. It all made the point gently, that women and gay men can be very much more athetic than the typical straight guy who gets sports from the television. I am assuming that the college provides a gym and a media center and that is why Jai didn't give them a weight bench or an "Apple" computer.

THOM was so funny and cute.
Let me tell you!
I loved his orange shirt..'Cuse BOI-right finger in his mouth in the van....
When he said, "register for this"
Spraying that pink string stuff
Putting that liquid dish soap down Carson's back shirt
When THOMY poured the milk on Cameron
THOMY and Ky were being silly bois and THOM replied, "just helping"
When THOMY said, "Come shower with us"
And when THOM said, " I bet you didn't poke her"
THOMY sitting on the left end arm of the sofa
In the van, saying he smelled like "soy sauce and oil"
When Carson said, "your hot" and THOMY laughed
DID THOMY SAY: "soriety(spelll?) giurls love wood/soemthing"?
THOMY the wood carpenter-better than TY Pennington.

THOMY coordinate in Dallas Cowboy attire, socks, sweatband and tee.
That mega phone scene
When THOMY was crawing on the football field and collapses and rolls on his back
When He said.."doesn't ehco"....and says his "hello"
THOMY standing on the sofa like an EMPEROR/KING
I liked his black converse shoes-like I have!
When he said, "start gluing gurls"

"Qlty. ctrl. inspector"
THOMY's TEE: KINGSTON-back at the loft
"Hi we're just a g-soemthing of women"
His body moving back at the loft-sufer moves
THOMY standing on the table
I loved everything that THOMY did, he is really silly and cute as usual

I read somewhere that Thom is the prankster of the group. What we saw there from Kyan & Ted was an old-fashioned case of PAYBACK!!

Really enjoyed this episode, and yes Thom did indeed get a bump on the head, probably during the food fight. After he rinses his face off you can actually see it bleeding. (... ducks to avoid the Thom wives running for the first aid kit ... ) and later on, you could see a bandage under the layers of makeup. Add that one to the "boys will be boys" section of things. LOL

Thanks for telling me that THOMY is the prankster of the group. He is so silly in the eppys.
He did get an OWIE on his forehead. Poor babyguy
design_daddy
have you seen the photos on D's fansite???
There is one where THOMY is covered in bbq sauce, oil....
I loved THOMY's facial expressions-see D's photos!

Thom mentioned the injury when he was on Jane Pauley's show. At that time, he still had a mark on his forehead from it. KCee, you are SO right....this Wife of Thom was dying to put a little blue ice on that bump right away! Did I ever mention that, like most moms, I'm excellent at kissin' the boo boo? Com'ere, Pumpkin!
tomasulo
What about the Fab 5 dancing to "Shout!"? Wow, they were bustin' a move! (Tomasulo....please....the out dated slang, really?....you've been warned before about this.) I had to get up and dance, too....it was impossible not to join in...no matter how foolish I felt dancing alone in my jammies wearing my hand-softening gloves!

Nurse tomasulo kiss THOMY'S OWIE

How did THOMY get the owie on his forehead?(what happend)
He is a tough guy, he didn't cry.
All us THOMY fans woulda made his boo-boo all better-TLC for THOMY

I wondered if any THOMY fans have taken nuring courses to become a nurse?
Poor baby THOMY for his boo-boo owie

Looked to me like it happened right at the beginning of the food fight. In fact, you could see it happen on the little piece of promo tape they were showing before this episode aired.
design_daddy
Did I miss any silly phrases he said in my summary? Anything else you saw that you esp. was a funny moment with THOMY?
design_daddy
What namebrand is KINGSTON?
(back @ loft tee)?
Didn't you love him shaking his groovy body?
design_daddy
What were ur funny moments and remarks from this eppy?
I thought it was so funny when THOMY poured that milk on Cameron.

The wives would be ever vigilant with their treatment of Thom's injury.....

Thom: "Excuse me...."

Wives: "Yes Thom!"

Thom: "How many times do I have to tell you women that my bump was on my forehead, not down there."

Wives: "Yeah, we'll get to the forehead in a minute. Right now we have to deal with this injury. Now take your pants off."

Thom: "But that's what I'm trying to tell you, I didn't get injured down there."

Wives: "We'll be the judge of that."

Thom: "I'm not going to win am I?"

Wives: "Nope. Now drop 'em!"

Poor Thom...we never did make it to his forehead......

D's got some great eppy photos. New ones from THOMY'S GALLERY

Was it THOMY that got Carson FIRST with that pink silly string stuff?

BTW-CONGRATS to Kyan fans for having the mid-hip tip. What Kyan fan wants to shave his face FIRST???

Yes, I agree completely! I was kinda dreading this episode for that reason. Guess that is also why I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It appeared that THOM & C got into the food fight and a few of the FRAT BOIS. Kyan, Ted and Jai stayed away, right??
*WHAT did the Ted fans think of the cheerleader pulling Ted on the football field?

*What did Ky's tee(during the eppy) say?

*Jai & Kyan finding the Frat's stuff...

I didn't see Jai get into it too much (I'll have to watch it again), but Kyan and Ted ganged up on Thom, so they got pretty messy themselves.

I am the chapter advisor for Sigma Chi at North Texas where the episode was filmed. I was present (behind the scenes) for most of the fiming. To answer your question... yes.. Thom did bump his head during the food fight. He wasn't hurt and carried on just fine. It just left a red bump.
jais_girl
Welcome!! So glad you could join us! I'm sure it must have been hilarious with the guys there and all the Brothers were so cool, particularly Cameron and 'Giggles.'

Thanks for coming on the boards!

What was really impressive about this episode was that the guys were able to have a great party without the focus being on alcohol. Having Otis Redding singing the frat anthem "Shout" was huge and Jai danced very well to it on the reveal.
I also in my previous post attributed the 'library with no books' comment to Thom, when it was Jai. I think.

What's the drinking age in Texas anyway? I think that the MB is only 20, so if it's 21 they wouldn't dare show any alcohol, even if they usually drink!! But, perhaps shooting this episode showed that they CAN have a great party without the booze.
tomasulo
As I've posted previously, I loved this episode and I'm almost afraid to introduce what could be perceived as a bit of negativity so I'm going to try to word this tactfully. The Sigma Chi brothers appeared to be a nice bunch of guys and it's wonderful that they were open to having a "new" experience with un-closeted gays, but I was disappointed that there was so little racial diversity within the group. It's probably not deliberate, that may just be a reflection of the population there, but I think they would gain so much more from the whole education/college experience if their group had a better multi-racial balance. I could be way off base....I'm not there so I don't know that these guys don't reach out so I apologize now if I sound judgemental. Not everyone has the benefit of living in areas that are a rich mix of cultures. And, let's be honest, who wouldn't love Giggles?!?!
notey: your post cracked me up because my daughter kept saying Otis Redding instead of Otis Day.....both are amazing, but I had to inform her that Otis Redding died a long time ago.

Drinking age in Texas is 21 unless they changed the drinking age without me knowing about it, which is extremely doubtful since I'm something of a news junkie.

That is awesome that you got to meet and hang out with THOMY. He is my #1 fave.
Can I ask, how did the food-fight get started??

This was the best Queer eye ever. I love everything about this show. My favorite part was the food fight. This show was so much fun to watch.

He was sooooo silly.
I loved the orange shirt and the way he was sitting and standing on the sofa...

Did u catch when THOMY washed his face in the sink?
Can't forget THOMY putting(it appeared like liquid dish soap) on Carson...
THOMY the cheerleader BOI-that sweatband
What did u think of THOMY MOMENTS???

I am SO glad I'm not the only one who keeps confusing Otis Day with Otis Redding.

I realized such a scary thing last night - Animal House came out just before I went to college, and I saw it a bunch of times (and was kind of disappointed to find college wasn't like Animal House, at least in my experience). But those guys weren't even BORN when Animal House came out.

AAAAAAAGGGGGG!!!!!!! I'm old, I'm old, I'm OLD!!!!!

I thought the same thing about the racial diversity, but I know the college where I work is the same way. Maybe most fraternities are like that? I honestly don't know much about them, and must admit I had a VERY dim view of them before seeing this. But I really liked these guys. They certainly didn't fit my stereotypical idea of frat boys.

I checked out this fraternity's website yesterday (there might be photos! There weren't any), but on the website it says that they pride themselves on cultural diversity.

As for racial diversity, you can't always tell by looking at a person what race they are. There are some that its obvious that they're African-American or Asian or Hispanic, but there are also some that look a different race than what they are. Take me for example, I look Caucasian, but I'm Hispanic.

You could be totally right. The Sigma Chi guys looked like a really nice group.... and, because I liked them so much, I just hope they get every opportunity that life may offer. After all, they got the chance to meet the Fab 5 and broaden their horizons....right?
