I was appalled by the judge's chioce of winner last night. Nick's and Daniel's designs were so much prettier than that variation on the same gown Santino keeps designing. Surely some of you have noticed that the bodice on the gowns Santino designs all look the same. As I said in a previous post, nothing would make me happier than to see Santino get 4th place and have to design a collection that won't count in the final judging. He sooooooooooooooo deserves it.

Hi Project Runway Fans!
Here were my favorites from the Social Scene Challenge:
Andrae & Zulema- in the past, I didn't like any of their designs. But I thought that these 2 were their respective best designs so far and two of my new favorites overall in the show. Andrae's dress with the wrinkle-free jersey material and the back of the dress really sold me. On Zulema's dress, I liked the mix of the "tough chick with a soft side" design for this dress. The white billowy skirt reminds of Monique Lhuillier's designs. I'd bid on either of them on the auction, but I'm probably too short to wear either of these dresses.
Daniel V - his dress came out gorgeous without additional black fabric. The geometric print was awesome. To me, this looks like something that could be worn at a Palm Beach or Miami, FL party.
Nick & Chloe - just like Michael Kors said during the judging, both dresses had great silhouettes. I'm sure both dresses were among the top 3 scores, & I thought that Nick would get the win for sure. But, both dresses were probably not chosen because both of them were safer than Santino's dress, who took a little bit of a risk with his design.

I thought Nicky Hilton was an airhead ! and she was so bored looking when she had to party with those that she must think are beneath her ! Santino's dress was ugly, Nick's was much prettier, hip and cool ! I hope Nick goes to the finals, I bet he can design some great collection, Zulema is a load ! They only keep Santino for ratings, because he is drama just like Zulema. I think that next will go Marla, she is nice, but they never give any credit to people like her who are self taught and older ! there is definite ageism there. Emmett is not able to design for females, it is pretty obvious. And Diane's designs are just hideous. She is supposed to be a nerd and now she is Dirty Diane with her dancing, she is annoying and not that talented. I loved it last time when they called Santino a coward. Did you see the way he was brown nosing Nicky Hilton ? ugh ! and those stillettos on him were ridiculous....Face it Santino...you are an ugly balding queen...

I could not be in more agreement with you! While I can't deny that Santino's dress was very beautiful, it does feel like we keep seeing the same thing week after week. Especially when you said he should get 4th place so he doesn't get to go to fashion week. Not that I think it will matter for his career, because despite being a complete jerk I'm sure plenty of people would still love his designs. But I think it would be fantastic to see his reaction. And soooo much better than seeing Austin go home just before fashion week last time :[
I also think Zulema is just flying under the radar. None of her designs have been particularly memorable or well done but she keeps getting lucky when other designers who might be better happen to make big mistakes. At least that's how I feel about her. I hope she goes soon because when she made that dress this week it didn't even seem like she was thinking about Nicky Hilton.

he over-embellishes. its getting tedious. often less is more but santino is oblivious to the concept. its obvious he has skill with his hands doing the intricate detailing but its just too much.
i really liked andrae's dress, daniel's and zulima's.
shiny fabrics often come off as tacky and ostentatious to me. i prefer a matte finish, generally.

Besides the fact that he looked like Dr. Frank N. Furter, Santino was the winner last night. Old lady needs to go, Guadalupe is my girl and Im pissed that she's gone. Emmett is a high school band dork that tries waaay to hard to be cool now. Shantequa or whatever her name is, is the worst one out there but everyone's scared to tell her because they dont want to deal with the ACLU, Daniel V. is a very cool cat and talented, Chloe is awesome, the foreign chick, is so so, the poor MIT grad that's now trying to be a designer needs to go back to rocket science, the cry baby dude has some skill, Nick gets on my nerves with his Captain Ultra Gay routine. "Here I come to lick your taint!" Just too girly for me. Gay is fine, whatever, do your thing, but damn why so "girlfriend you know thats right" about it? Just my friendly observations.

I completely agree. I wonder why the judges are not yelling at him. they didnt like Marla's because it was like one on the picture yet all of santinos are almost under the same idea... I also dont think it was up to the judges. I think it was up to Nicky. And santinos comment of Nicky being able to buy his. Hm well thats one person but the barbie one will get his name out to thousands of people depending on how many they make.
This episode didnt have much going on it actually. I was really annoyed by the comments Santino makes at Diana in the preview to the next episode. Saying how he hats her voice. And im getting annoyed by his little grasping for straws comment. Im pretty sure he was freaking clinging to them in the team competition one.
As for next episode i wonder what they have to design. Im nervous for Diana because she gets Marla so i think that those two are probably going to be the ones getting cut. I hate to even think about it because Diana is very creative and one of my fav designers and Marla is very nice and friendly, but i dont think they will make it past next round.

My views on this episode, starting with the garments, and how I would have ranked them:
Andrae (rank #2) - Surprised me! I really liked how the fabric moved. It was elegant, yet somewhat sporty. His model really looked good in it too. When he isn't being a drama queen, he works well!
Chloe (rank #8) - Too similar to her winning "clothes off your back" challenge dress (could just be the color). Also didn't seem to fit her model all that well (check the photo, it really looks bad). Not that impressive, couldn't understand why she was considered in the top three.
Daniel (rank #1) - Loved it! This would have been my top choice. His model really looked good in this dress. I liked how he used the print (turning the circles into half-moons). It fitted perfectly.
Diana (rank #7) - I think if Diana would have created a fitted skirt, this would have been in the top three. I loved the bodice, but the skirt really wasn't working. She went for flow, when she needed to streamline and go for something that hugged the hips. Not bad, though.
Emmett (rank #5) - I loved the fabric Emmett chose, it was beautiful. His dress, however, looked more like a maternity dress. The waist was too high (a problem with several dresses this episode). Still, the fabric made up for that a bit. The skirt moved very nicely.
Guadalupe (rank #10) - Ugh. Poor fabric choice (it looked like furniture fabric), poor design. Really just not good at all. Disappointing. I was thinking that Guadalupe might go for something wild, instead she created something that was both tame and lame.
Kara (rank #4) - Another high waist, but this one works much better than either Emmett's, Santino's or Diana's. I wish she would have chosen another color. If she had, she may have won this compition as it seemed that Nicky Hilton liked the design.
Marla (rank #11) - Double ugh. Marla should be gone. Not only did she completely copy another designer's dress, she did it poorly. It really looked horrible. And her model sucks. I wish they had kicked her off instead of Lupe.
Nick (rank #3) - Of the top three, this should have won. Nice lines, beautiful color/fabric. The back was brilliant. Nick was robbed.
Santino (rank #6) - Again with the friggin whickety whack trim! Waist was too high, bodice was too embellished (and poorly constructed). I guess his schmoozing with Hilton is what won this one.
Zulema (rank #9) - Not impressed with anything she's done. The center seam on this dress is all over the place and the skirt is really not flattering.
Overall - I can't stand that they had to design for a vapid, brain-dead husk like Nicky Hilton. It irritates me that she had final say, but she did, so there it is. That being said, Marla really should have been tossed. Santino's ego really needs to be punctured (can't take any win gracefully, can you Santino?), and he needs to lay off Diana (we GET that you hate her, Santino, shut up about it!). It looks like we get another team challenge next week (throw in a sarcastic "yippee" here). I'm betting that a pair of designers will be chucked next week. If Marla drags Diana (who I really like) down with her, I'm going up to Allentown, PA and graffitting her store!

I'm really excited to see Daniel's next dress - especially if he keeps working with Rebecca. He is designing progressively more retro sexy outfits, and I can't help but think that having Rebecca as a model (who is just all jaw and shoulder until he dresses her) has something to do with it. I loved his dress from this challenge.
I wish this site had video clips of the catwalk presentations of the dresses - I thought both Andrae's and Emmett's dresses looked much better in movement than they do in the still photographs.

I'm with you on Andrae's and Daniel's, but not Zulema's (didn't like this one at all). I liked Emmett's and Kara's this week, too.
ITA about the shiny fabrics, too. I think that's why I didn't particularly like Nick's and Chloe's--not only shiny but blue (I have flashbacks to a bridesmaids dress I had to wear--shiny and light blue ... *shudder*). Interestingly, I liked Kara's, even though it had a sheen to it--maybe it was the darker color ... and the cut.

A few comments-
I thought they are all playing it a little safe-as much as I love Chloe but I thought her dress was a bit like the clothes off your back challenge, too as well as some others, designers who I like but who are maybe playing it safe? Santino's look is already boring me, we've seen it so many times. But remember in Season 1, Austin was shot down for that but Kara had the same neckline in most of her designs. He definitely won because of his salesmanship at the party--
I wish Marla didn't look like she was in pain now. I don't think she's going to make it to the end, but in this particular epi, she wasn't the worst. I think she's getting so scared, she's retreating to safe designs and that's a shame.
Is it me or is Heidi a riot this season? I'm loving her, she's managed to make me laugh each week-there should be board for Heidi-isms-"you would not let her go out on the runway with her booty hanging out! I could not stop looking at it!" ROFLOL
I think Santino is in for the ratings, which is too bad. It's interesting, though, to me there are 4 or 5 that could make the final 3 and the rest I'm pretty sure will be out-it could be Chloe, Nick, Daniel V, Santino or Emmett. Already they sort of stand out-but then I thought Jay was out until the BR challenge--
The site should also sort the designs by designer so you can see what the designers have done thus far.
A question-which epi had Zulema (that woman is a hoot!) asking for a walk-off? I swear I've seen every one at least 3 times and last night they referred to it and I've never caught it? Can someone explain to me what happened, the story behind it? And on one of the other boards someone referred to an upcoming episode-how do you guys know about that? Thanks!

I would guess some strange looks. Im just tired of the feminine stereotype and the perpetuation of it. And I know I sound like some jackbooted Nazi, but Im not. Even Andre who cryed like the Sally Field in Steel Magnolias isnt queeny like Nick.

I'm pretty sure that it was a "Zoolander" movie reference before the walk-off, not a Zulema reference.

I think it's a good thing that they are designers and not models because there catwalks sucked!
I think Nick and Daniel V. designs were the best. Nick's dress was a beautiful color, cut and looked great from the front and the back. I think Daniel V. was totally funky, hip and diffrent than the rest. It also fit the model to perfection and I doubt Nicky Hilton can fill out the dress the way the model did, she needs some curves to pull off that dress. They are for diffrent events but both are top notch.
Chloe's dress was beautiful but ill fitted and too similiar to her previous dresses. Andrea's was very nice and casual but not for going to a social event it was more for going out to dinner.
And for Santino I think he's got good ideas but overdoes it. I think the braiding on top was too much and it was too high waisted. He also said he picked the color to match Nicky Hilton's eyes maybe my TV's colors were off but the color to me looked washed out grayish/blue and no where near the color of her eyes. I think she chose him because he has such a big personality plus ego galore which shouldn't make up for a so so dress.
As for the rest their dresses and them are unmemorable.
I think at the end it will be Nick, Chloe and Daniel V.

It would have been nice to pick a socialite, of interest. Just more free publicity for a Hilton. Her comment that she was coming out with a line of dresses... I translate to "I have $$$ behind me, so I don't need to go on a show like this to compete..."
Santino: where did this guy come from? His attitude. He states CONSTANTLY how he exudes self confidence, yet his actions... state NOTHING of the kind. He is majorly insecure, and he shows it, and thinks he is being charming and cute.
His first dress was cute. Interesting, and unusual...then he progresses to all being of the same cut. Yes, Santino...you are talented. You can wicky-wack with the best of them... but expand.
I love Nick. Great personality, and tho he is "gay"...he makes me laugh. charming. His dress was far superior. Great cut of the bias.
But, Ms Hilton picked. That being the objective of this episode, rightly so. Doesn't mean it was the best. The judges made some great comments, and I'd have guessed Nick.
As Santino left, and his backstages comments? immature. insecure. step back and take some criticism, would ya? objective criticism. NOT everyone loves you, Santino.

That is a Derek Zoolander quote. But I think theyre referring to an upcoming episode where Shantiqua asks for a walk-off. Dont the models have to do that when their designer gets axed? And I cant tell you how pissed I am about Guadalupe!!!!!! So the dress last night wasnt Nicky Hiltonish, it was still cool. There is a a market out there that would buy it! I hope she ends up with the next great clothing line.

My comments on this episode. First off, I am pissed that Santino won and Lupe is off cause I picked Nick for the winner and Marla for the loser for this week in the sweepstakes. I have no points! But I also didnt enter the contest until the 3 ep. Still, I was so close this time!!!!
I definately think that Nick should have won! His dress was by far the best one, much better than Santino's. Santino's dress looked almost exactly like the dress he did for the very first challenge except that it was a different material: another high waisted dress with an embellished bodice and a full skirt with layers of fabric. (snooze!!!!) I think if Nicky did not pick the winner herself, the judges would have given it to Nick. But she is the won wearing the dress and that is the one she liked the most. I almost wanted to throw up though when she told Santino that he will go far in this business with his attitude! (dont tell him that! That is the worst thing to tell him!)
I also thought that Chloe's dress looked a lot like her "clothes off your back" dress, though I did like the braid in the back. I was a little disappointed in her, she could have done better.
I loved Daniel's dress and I also loved Kara's Andrae's and Diana's. Andrae really surprised me with his dress, and I think he should have gotten in the top 3 scores. I really liked the bodice on Diana's but the skirt was too much fabric. Take some of that fabric away and it would have been perfect.
Kara's dress also looked a lot like the dress she did in the first challenge. I think she should have done a different color though cause half of them did black.
Marla may have copied the Chloe dress (though I dont think she did it intentionally and did not realize that she was doing it until it was pointed out to her) and I think she should have been gone instead of Lupe because of it, even though Lupe's dress was hideous. But the other designers are not much better, at least half of them did a regurgiation of their previous designs in this challenge.
I didnt like Emmett's dress at all. Zulima's was medicore. She has yet to do anything that impresses me at all. Like someone else said she is only still in it cause ever week one or two people completely bomb, so her medicore designs pass through.
Nick is definately my favorite. Every week I am so impressed and in awe of his designs. And he is original and he doesnt regurgitate his designs over and over again. I think he will make it to the final 3 and I hope that he wins. I hope that Santino doesnt even make it into fashion week but gets all the way to 4th, because I think that will piss him off even more than if he gets out earlier.

Nick completely cracks me up! I was laughing so hard last night when he said "this isn't my first time at the rodeo". My husband has always used the phrase "this ain't cowboy's first rodeo", so I had to share it with him! LOL
Santino is a bore and an arrogant horse's a#@. Not too mention he is just a frightening looking hobo. If he makes it to the final three, they don't even have to worry about a Project Runway 3 as far as I'm concerned.
Nick's probably should've won last night. I think Santino's used car salesman routine probably gave him the victory.
But the real kudos go to Daniel. He took what could have been a real disaster for him, and made a GREAT dress. That thing was smokin'. And he didn't lose his composure and freak out like I'm sure most of the other designers would. I think he's got the stuff to make it to the finals.

but that was not the point of the challenge, the point was to design for a particular client and give them what they want, what they like. That is not what Nicky likes. Lupe did not design for the client. It is fine that she has a particular style, but if she wants to be successful as a designer, she has to be able to be flexible and also to be able to design outside her personal style or her comfort zone to give the client the look that they ask for.

Awful, awful, awful! All that embellishment on Santino's dress was just grotsque. Indeed, can the man even make a dress without putting all the crap all over it? One wonders. With any luck maybe it will get him booted. Tim's podcast speaks of how much he charmed Nicky Hilton, to which I can only have two responses--one, she is just the kind of airhead who would respond to blatant flattery and, two, I simply can't get over the fact that I find him completely physically repugnant--that long greasy hair, the untrimmed facial hair, both of which make an ugly face even uglier--ughhh! He and she deserve each other. Let's just hope that in future shows the judges will tire of the fact that he only knows how to make one dress and that someone with genuine talent like Chloe, Nick, of Daniel will prevail.

Unless they said Zoolander last night but Zoolema (LOL) says it in a week or two-good thing I watch each episode repeatedly until my family threatens to pull the plug-on the TV that is. I'm surprised that Santino didn't get in trouble with the producers for giving his card to Nicky at that party. You'd think that would be a rule in their contract or something.
Even though he did it right in front of Heidi, it seemed below board and kinda slimey of him.

In most of the posts I read, people hate Santino because he's a jerk etc.etc. This is not "Project Best Personality." His dress for this challenge was gorgeous, the client loved it, and he sold himself well at at he party the night before. (All we get to hear are sound bites--and who knows when they were said. Nicki Hilton met him IN PERSON and was impressed by him.) I thought most of the dresses were done very well this time. The dress that lost was gosh-awful and deserved to lose.
And what's all this negative stuff about Nicki Hilton? She's not her socialite sister--she works in her own design company--purses, right? I was really impressed by what she said. I saw no vapid "heir-head"...
Having said this, I want to protest all these group challenges. I see we're to have another one next time--two people to a group. I don't CARE how they design with another person. I want to see THEIR OWN work. Am I asking too much? I think the producers like the group stuff because it enables them to kick someone off for not working well with others...or running with scissors...or WHATEVER. I realize the whole season is almost a wrap already, but I would really love the production staff to take a look at the entire set up. Why do we have to have eliminations every time? Why can't the contestants earn points and then every 3 episodes have an elimination? Not enough drama, maybe?? Thank you for letting me vent.

I can tell, that if Santino will make one more dress just like this last one (really, isn't his designer style kind of boring?) I will laught.
Personally, my favourite one was Nick's and Daniel's design.

That thing about the walk off was in a preview but it's in a different episode that hasn't been shown yet.
My fav was Nicks dress. But I love that old hollywood style. I also loved Andres dress and Daniels dresses.
Santino's look is played out. I'm so sick of his attitude. So is Zulema. She hasn't made anything interesting yet.
I don't think Marla meant to copy the Cloe dress either I think it just kinda happened because she tried to take inspiration from it.
I kinda felt like Cloe copied herself too just like Santino does. Cloes dress was cute though.
Who's left..... Kara umm... it was ok. Emmett.... I liked it but I knew Nicki wouldn't. Lupe.... it was very her but not her client.
I think they should have given them some time to consult and pitch to Nicki. That way they would have had more of a sense of the look she was going for.

Loved Daniel's dress the best. I lliked how it wasn't boring black or it's gotta match my eyes blue. It different and sexy.

I think we saw the first spark of the talent that got Andrae into this competition; his dress was, in my opinion, the best of the lot.
Santino, obnoxious personality and poor grooming aside, seems to have run out of ideas and is basically doing the same schtick recycled. If there is a vision there, you can't really see it for all the embellishment. I happen to like clean, strong lines that don't depend on gimmickry (ie Halston, Klein etc), but that is just me.
But I'm no Nicky Hilton. Obviously she is a woman of great experience, impeccable taste, and her credentials as a judge are without question.
Okay, that was sarcasm. However, it did not surprise me in the least that she would choose Santino's "more is more" approach. You can't buy taste.
However, my biggest complaint is that when Daniel V. did his walk, and began slowly unbuttoning his shirt, they had the nerve to cut away....damn you, Bravo!

Andrae's should have been in a different color - something with pizazz and saturation - but the subtle sparkle was nice and it really did move well. He needs to keep that design in mind for when he opens his next shop.
So far, I've loved everything that Nick has designed and since I'm a huge fan of satin, I loved this dress. The back was to die for. He probably would have won if he had worked Nicky more at the party but I appreciate that he thought it seemed like begging on the street...it did.
Santino's head is going to swell to the size of Andrae's Barbie skirt now that he won this. I still don't see why he won - I literally screamed at the tv when I say his top for the first time. But if Nicky liked it, ok, whatever!
Zulema is annoying the crap out of me. Her dress was so poorly constructed that it should be sold in one of those irregulars stores (where you buy things that were sewn wrong so you can get them for a pittance). But the way she attacked the room about the stupid dress form. It's not like they took your dress off the form and took it...geez, you hadn't even started it. Get over yourself, Zulema. And for heavens sake, take those stupid glasses off your head!!!!!!!!! You look like an idiot!

Santino, obnoxious personality and poor grooming aside, seems to have run out of ideas and is basically doing the same schtick recycled. Okay, that was sarcasm. However, it did not surprise me in the least that she would choose Santino's "more is more" approach. You can't buy taste.
However, my biggest complaint is that when Daniel V. did his walk, and began slowly unbuttoning his shirt, they had the nerve to cut away....damn you, Bravo!
Yes, I agree about Andrae. I was proud of him.
I dont' know why Tim doesn't seem to see how gimmiky Santino has become (I think the judges have an idea, but not Nikki, obviously).
I'm glad you said you were being sarcastic, cuz I was about to put you through the roller on that.
And I second that about the camera cutting away! Gay or not, I don't care...he's still a hottie!

Great posts here! OK, some thoughts....
DANIEL - should have WON this challenge!! I LOVED this dress as it was different, sexy, provocative and wearable. Plus the problem with fabric yet still nailing it with a great design. He flies under the wire a bit but is even-flow and can handle the pressure. I love Daniel V.!!
NICK - a close running for 2nd or even to win. I loved his design and I love his attitude. It ain't the first time at the rodeo - love love love it. And keep that humble nature Nick as it can also take you far!!
SANTINO - last nerve hit! I liked him at first as his designs seemed awesome. But as his ego and attitude reared it's ugly head and the base of his designs seemed to repeat with every challenge. Hey dude, often less is more and I ain't just talking whickety-wack! His attitude sucks!
CHLOE: Yes, talented and I do hope that she in one of the final three but that was the SAME dress as the challenge she won. OK the colors differ and there's a banded waistline but the line down the back - it's the same dress. Granted a sexy dress but still the same.
DIANA: Love the nerd coming out to shine - you go girl. I actually liked this dress yet I agree that the bottom needed to be a bit less obvious and full.
MARLA: Umm, from the ladies in Allentown to the catwalks of Bravo and NY - just a long a haul for Wendy too, but Marla's designs seem so - umm, well just "undone". Bless her heart for trying but I don't get it.
ZULEMA: Nothing earthshaking for me - ever. I did sort of like her dress just because I love leather but it also looked unfinished.
GUADALUPE: Just not my tastes - don't get it and never did. But I know there is a crunchy crowd lying in between Prada and American Outback who might just eat up her whole-grain designs.
KARA: Ok, pretty, flirty but too short for my tastes. For some reason she grates me - maybe it's her tension but then trying to say 'Lupe was the tense one.
EMMETT: Actually I liked his dress and the material was awesome. Also I think his menswear mentality translates into his women's designs quite well and I've enjoyed each truly wearable item that he's made. His understated taste is classic and classics never go out of style.
ANDRAE: Sometimes he's just too flaky for me - how many accents can one person have? But I do think he is talented. This dress was AMAZING in it's versatility and wearability! Loved it!!
So it was a great challenge and Nicky Hilton, while somewhat vacuous, was a great fit for a social scene challenge.
To close, who are your top three??
At this point, I'm aiming on NICK, EMMETT AND DANIEL V. with Chloe as the wild card.

Andrae's should have been in a different color - something with pizazz and saturation - but the subtle sparkle was nice and it really did move well. He needs to keep that design in mind for when he opens his next shop.
So far, I've loved everything that Nick has designed and since I'm a huge fan of satin, I loved this dress. The back was to die for. He probably would have won if he had worked Nicky more at the party but I appreciate that he thought it seemed like begging on the street...it did.
Santino's head is going to swell to the size of Andrae's Barbie skirt now that he won this. I still don't see why he won - I literally screamed at the tv when I say his top for the first time. But if Nicky liked it, ok, whatever!
Zulema is annoying the crap out of me. Her dress was so poorly constructed that it should be sold in one of those irregulars stores (where you buy things that were sewn wrong so you can get them for a pittance). But the way she attacked the room about the stupid dress form. It's not like they took your dress off the form and took it...geez, you hadn't even started it. Get over yourself, Zulema. And for heavens sake, take those stupid glasses off your head!!!!!!!!! You look like an idiot!
I agree with everything you said! I was really impressed with Andrae before, whereas all his other designs did not impress me. I think he needs to put more makeup on his model though. I hate to say that but she needs it!
I screamed at the tv too when Nicky announced Santino the winner over Nick! And Nick did have more class in selling himself at the party over Santino. People like Santino who try to bumrush you like that and feed you a million false compliments to kiss you a** turn me off. I would not have chosen his dress for that reason alone, even if I did like it better than Nick's (which I didn't)
I am laughing at what you said about Zulema. So true! Her dress was horrible! And her model looked horrible! What was up with that slicked back hair and heavy black makeup? It made the dress look worse, not better.

thats a very good point you make. it seems the producers would have a clause in their contract basically saying they own the contestants. perhaps if he does get lucky theyll have a legal right to a percentage of his earnings.

Nick got robbed. The judges liked his best, Hilton liked his best and it was stunning, but the win went to Santino. They gave him the win to stir up a hornet's nest between him and Nick.
Daniel: Beautifull
Kara: Very nice, very forgettable
Emett: Pretty but kind of dull
Marla: She should have been tossed. they just kept her to torture her a bit more.
Lupe: Inexcusable. She seems to go out of her way to come up with unattractive designs.
Diane: Looked like something from Beetlejuice. Nothing she's done has impressed me.
Zulema: I can't believe she's still there. Really bad designs consistantly.
Andrea. Beautifull. Deserved much more credit.
Chloe: Bad fit, recycled design. They should have nailed her for it.
Santino: Once again very nice, but he seems to be a one-trick pony
Nick: Should have one. It was beautiful. He's a real talent.

I predict Zulu-nation wins it.
Isn't there a commerical where she has 3 models do a "walkoff?" And Super-Gay says "Ohhh! Stooopppp it!!!! I can't beeelieve sheee diddd thattt!!!!" or something. So he is not out.
So I bet the team is a double elimination and if you can see who the other two models are, you can tell who gets eliminated.

I don't understand how in the hell Santino earned the reputation of being creative among the judges. He's been ever recycling the ruffled baby doll dress from the first challenge. Heidi correctly points out that it's not even a good design (top is too short and the skirt too puffy, she won't wear it). Tim conjectures in his podcast that Nicky's decision is partly due to Santino's self-presentation at the party. Tim says Santino was freaky in his custom-made heels but for some reason Nicky liked that freakiness!

I wondered if anyone else is expecting there to maybe a designing for men challenge? Even though he wouldn't admit it, I think Tim is a little partial to Emmett and I wouldn't be at all surprised at this sort of 'softball' being thrown to Emmett. Not that I don't think it's a good idea to do (Emmett or no Emmett) because many designers have male and female lines.
Emmett *always* flies under the radar (never terrible but never great either) and this would give him a chance to shine....Any thoughts?
Also, I thought his (Emmett's) dress last night would have made a better sexy maternity dress for Heidi than something sexy to be worn on the red carpet or a night on the town by Ms. Hilton. It was a little too baby-doll-ish IMO. I think Daniel's was the best last night. Daniel and Nick HAVE to be in the top 3!
PS: I think it was mentioned somewhere on the 'designers' post (early this morning before Episode 5 was officially up for discussion) that it was actually Tim telling Daniel that he was "sh!tting himself" about Daniel not having his fabric yet. In fact, it was Santino imitating Tim...quite well. I saved the episode and played that part back several times and you can see Santino's mouth moving and it said in the closed captioning "Santino imitating Daniel" but he obviously was imitating Tim since he sounded just like him and was talking *to* Daniel. (sorry if this is already known, I just wanted to point this out to that person and to anyone else that may not have realized it)

Was this challenge really on how to smooth talk your design and party with the elite? I so wanted Nick to win because I like him as a designer but you have to grant it to Santino that he did totally work Nicky Hilton. She is probably used to people throwing themselves at her to get whatever she wants. I also thought that the dress that Santino did was the same ole' look as all the other dresses.
I liked Daniel V. and Andrae's dresses a lot but the challenge was to design a dress for Nicky Hilton and I didn't see her in either of their designs.
I didn't like Zulema's dress at all and, frankly, I think she gets on my nerves. I haven't been impressed with her at all and I'm turned off by personalities like hers. The dress she created was completely for someone else. I know these designers have their own 'styles' but they really have to think about what the specific challenge is.
Diana...poor Diana. I really want to like her but I feel like she's just so out of her league. She's like a lamb in a pack of wolves...too naive for her own good. I think she's very intelligent and creative but she needs to start playing this game.
Marla needs to go home. I know she wants to prove to herself that she's creative but she doesn't seem to have this passionate drive to be a fashion designer. How many times did people tell her that the dress looked like a previous dress of Nicky's?!
I liked Chloe's dress. I thought that Nicky Hilton would look gorgeous in it, actually...but I just didn't see her buying it for some reason. Not sure why.
Kara surprised me with her dress...I thought it was definitely something interesting and cute. It looked like a new look for Nicky but her response was pretty favorable about it.

Santino's clothing all looks the same. He has picked a style (and not a very good one) and is sticking with it. His dress last night looked poorly constructed and uncomfortable. I don't know any girl who wants to wear that much crappy brocade on her torso or anywhere. It looked like torn up cheesy, bathroom curtains converted into a babydoll.
Daniel V had the best dress of the evening, hands down. Hot, sexy and the pattern was fantastic.
Nikki Hilton has no taste - who decided she should be a judge?

I agree, Santino's design last night was so similar to his designs of the previous shows! Daniel's, Nick's and Chloe's designs were much better and different from what they have been doing. Of course if Santino keeps winning his "big head" will evenually explode! At least by winning, we didn't have to hear his "catty" poor loser remarks of the winner! By the way, where does one find stilletos that big?!?

I liked Adrae's dress best. Lupe's was kind of odd and not for this particular client. Santino's was ugly. And I noticed in the fine print at the end of the episode that input from the producers decided the winner in addition to the judge's scores ugh!
Marla is falling apart - but please fellow chatters - don't call her an old lady! LOL We older women are still interested in fashion. I am older than Marla and also self taught - I have been sewing since I was 3 years old and designing since I was 8 (mostly costumes). However, If Tim had told me that I had made the dress from the picture I would have started over. She was lucky not to be eliminated and saved by Lupe.

You can talk about fashion and art and being true to yurself and the craft all you want, but money is whats at stake and Santino understands that. Im with him. I do like Daniel V. I love Chloe, she's my girl, but Nick, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! I cant stand him, he's a biaaaatch!!!!

I loved your post and I so agree with you about Nikki Hilton. She may be a socialite but she has NO taste in fashion. Obviously the producers couldn't get Paris and had to settle for her drab sister. She just doesn't have any sparkle (even if she is a favorite of Richie Rich of Heatherette) bless her little stuck-up heart.
Now on to My rankings. (we agree on 1st and 2nd)
Andre (rank 4th) The best he's done so far, and it was very smart of him to think about packing needs considering how much Miss Hilton must travel, but still not quite top 3 for me.
Chloe (rank 5th) I agree with Tim, this is turning into Chloe blue, but I still liked the dress. I agree, the bodice could have fit better but the braid down the back was HOT.
Daniel (rank 1st) No doubt about it, this was the most fantastic dress of the night, and the way Daniel handled his fabric problems was nothing short of astounding. The judges just flat got it wrong. Bravo Daniel!
Diana (rank 8th) Sorry this dress was OK but truth is, it just didn't do anything for me.
Emmett (rank 3rd) I think Emmett is getting overlooked on this show. His designs tend to be simple but they always seem totally wearable. His Barbie dress was also one of my top 3. I loved the fabric here as well as the style. Keep it up Emmett.
Guadalupe (rank 11th) Sorry, but I think the judges got it right as far as the worst design was concerned. What a MESS!
Kara (rank 6th) I think she's a real flake, but for me anyway, this was the best of the black dresses.
Marla (rank 10th) Boy she's lucky. If Lupe's design hadn't been soooooooo dreadful, this nice but questionably talented lady and her bad copy would be gone.
Nick (rank 2nd) I love this guy's designs, and this one was no exception. He's the class of the competition (and so much more talented than Santino) and I desperately want to see him in the final 3 and I want him to win. I felt the same way about Austin last year and the lackluster judges ( I mean, I can stand Nina but that sap Khors has to go) let me down big time. YOU GO NICK!!!!
Santino (rank 7th) The dress was pretty but he needs to try a different bodice and different embelishments. I think his designs are way too similar and his posturing makes me want to puke. I had to deal with Austin's 4th place finish last year and it depressed the heck out of me. I hope Santino gets the 4th place HE deserves this go around. It would certainly make up for last year's dissapointment.
Zulema (rank 9th) Ugggggg, what a hideous ill-fitting creation. In the beginning I thought this gal had talent, but I'm no longer so sure.

So this is about money huh? OK, Here's the challenge. Put both Emmett's and Santino's dresses from last night and the Barbie show in Sak's window and see which designer sells more stuff. My money's on Emmett as his designs are emenantly more wearble than the over embelished crap from Santino.
