hey ... the vertigo stuff ... have found the
benzodiazepine family (xanax + her older sisters, valium, and, especially, ativan), suprisingly effective. ms (the tame montel variety) has been my health challenge for almost 20 years now -- must control anxiety, so, always have some manner of said calm-down agents in the medicine cabinet. alternately, for vim 'n vigor ... been taking provigil, an anti-narcolepsy drug, now liberally used by neurologists to keep their patients part of the waking, working world.
as for the Democrat affiliation ... we've stiiiiiiiill got Molly:

Whiskers: Thanks for the note, hon!

Thank ghod for the Star Telegram! My former Theatre Prof even cuts and pastes her articles to my e-mail! LOL!

As for the vertigo and nausea... (Oh, pooh, seppuku...) It's an old repeat of last summer and fall's anemia/maybe-abscess/probably-gonna-have-to-do-surgery-again, thing. I'm taking the internal medicine specialist way first. (Cheaper than my surgeon... he DOES want ALL the money up front! ...But he's good, and I trust him.)

Are you a Texas gal too, Whiskers? Update that Location field, please!

Side note to SA: Never worry about Notevayas and me, SA... we wrangle like family and call each other brother and sister. We spat, but that's ok... we always work it out.

"I also have to giggle... I pronounce it "day" instead of "Dee"... but you have to go to Hip Tips thread page 53(?) to see why."

Assignment completed, General, and fully understood, Ma'am!

Last week I bought a box of Cracker Jack. The prize inside was a piece of paper titled, Poetic License. I used it for the first time when I wrote "my De" which, I now find out, should be should be "My Day" which is also the title of a daily newspaper column during WWII written by none other than Eleanor Roosevelt and now I am totally "faschemillt" over the whole thing. (SA, take two aspirin and call me in the morning!}

Day (nee De) continued:

"Was there a problem? Was a post dropped? Rephrase and rewrite... you may get it through again."

No post was dropped. I was just venting because the boards were not updated Tuesday night and I had to wait 24 hours for my next fab five fix. (Gotta have it...gotta have it...gotta have it)

I should have said to Gary.. I am especially sensitive to the seemingly 'left handed compliments' of some people, and (gosh-by-golly)<---[not necessary] your post seemed to be saying something you probably didn't intend..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And to Nonsense05. Gee, your tag seems to be a slam against the show - could you please explain it's meaning?
Your posts seem to be either a heavy-handed play for sympathy or intentionally diffuse and your last post that attributed a homophobic comment to a gay friend was very suspicious to me, especially, coming on the heels, of Garys post being (successfully thwarted)<---[not necessary] responded to by Rjaye. Please explain how a 17 year old could possibly, in her enthusiasm to post on the fan-board of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, have given me the strong impression that she is Not a Fan in just a handful of 2 and 3 line posts?
Note, I know you have looked back through the boards but you have not been able to read every single post. If you had, you would have seen where many people, including a 13 year old, have posted on the negative comments their friends have said about QE and homosexuals in general. They were not dealt sarcasm, "snarkiness", or anything negative in telling this to the forum - they were supported.
Like I said, if it comes to light that they are troublemakers, I'm in your corner with a rage born of the years - otherwise, they are innocent parties who deserve a sincere apology. Thank you for addressing the post.
I don't know what they Deserve, but I invite Them to tell me. Sticks and Stones and all that. When I baited tick tick he came right back at me- words flying! And I called him straight!
Thank you for your editing suggestions TTB, but I think I'll write my own posts and take the consequences. notevayas
You're grown, I'm not going to tell you how to write your posts or try to force you to write a certain way - that's not my job. They were suggestions on how to be tactful when you have questions towards a certain party who may be innocent of your thoughts and that's it. It doesn't apply for just Gary and Nonsense05, the principle applies to anyone who enters unless they show cause to be otherwise.
Strange that you would use the word "bait" when in a previous post you said you despise mind games. And not everyone has tick's attitude.
Speaking for yourself maybe, but well spoken nonetheless. What we on the whole have to learn is that we don't need to lash out with our own insecurities onto someone just because they are christian (or whatever) because we then increase the turmoil between different people. Know what I appreciate? I appreciate everyone who comes in here - EVERYONE. Almost everyone has revealed something of their life here in some sort of way, no matter how subtle. Everyone has been through a battle, are going through a battle, or will be going through a battle. Everyone has been on the outs; but here there is NO in-crowd - at least not one that I would acknowledge...because we are ALL in. The newbie that comes in and posts in earnest is as "in" as the regular who has been here since the beginning. I respect all those people, those that are sincere.
Dear Thomsteddybear:
I don't know how to make this sound sincere except to tell you I mean it that way. I am relieved that you know you don't set my standards for me, because I wouldn't enjoy having to defend my style as well as the content of my posts every time we had a disagreement- not too often so far. Just the Rob thread- right? And now Gary&Nonsense05.
You very quickly set upon my word 'bait' and it does have several different definitions. One is simply lure. Another is simply tease. Another is to prepare a trap with a lure. Another is to set ones dogs upon.
All we have here are words TTF. You have said you work in a law office.. surely you have heard sparring far more clever than anything I could come up with. Yes, I said spar. It can mean to strike, attack. Or it can mean to bandy words...
You were fully engaged on the boards and had been for months when I, a newcomer, clumsily bandied words with tick tick. Why not the editorial comments then? I do not mean to imply that you are more interested in having posters who identify as Christians feel unchallenged as those who identify as gay. But I do feel we are at logjam and I want to get past it to where we both feel comfortable.
I apologized for my excess and now you are pushing for an apology that you must know from my 240 some posts could never be sincere. If it is simply that you want to have the last word, well I will never be competing with 1300 posts- I concede.
I think it is more likely that your role here as 'meet and greeter'(I remember your initial kindness to me with MUCH gratitude) along with De, has evolved into the role of protecter of the 'innocent'. How many years have you posted on fan-boards TTB? Give my 7 years of experience a bit of consideration. I've seen some great sites destroyed- and I'm not talking about PanFandom.
Just as we have whole weekends without posts going up on the boards, Tuesday nights the BBB holds off posting because they want to put the new show's thread on the board at the same time. They once put the Steven S. thread up too soon (It was Steven, I think...) and some people mistook it for Richard Miller's thread and were posting about baldness all over it! LOL! Steven... BALD! THAT would go over well at FUSE!!! LOL! Anyway - Since then the Tuesday evening posts have been late. Sorry... I'm the same way. Thank God for str8girl and my poetry sight on the weekends!
(This isn't about Christianity except in that political leaders sometimes refer to this country as Christian,) but can you put yourself in my shoes for a moment, and imagine how it felt to learn that our military humiliated Islamic POW's by forcing them into simulated 'gay' sex and photographing them for benefit of their families? As well as siccing dogs on them and using electric shocks, etc. And how those actions that I believe were not rogue, spit on the honor of every person in the service, past and present? The perpetrators have been defended as good Christians who were just following orders. Obviously this is not Christian behavior, but the fact that so many people have sympathy on the jailguards based on their religious affiliations is worrisome to me. notevayas
Dear Whiskers:
I didn't see how it was so decent to go to all the trouble to bother posting just to say that he was surprised gay people would 'honor' heterosexual relationships. I live in Mass. and because of the marriage controversy I hear too much whining about honoring heterosexual relationships, especially from the religious extremists. But if that were all I would have just posted a rebuttal like I did to materialismbad. This guy was trying to make these boards his little project. Like I said to TTB, challenging him is not the same is playing 'mind games.' I told him exactly what I thought.. that he wasn't being honest about what he thought or his motivations. As far as Nonsense05, her name and her last post told us exactly what she felt about the show. And no one, Christian or not, tells me to shut the hell up, however creatively, with no response from me.
I enjoy disagreeing with you occasionally. It's just the Feng Shui thing and this- right? Oh, and Astrology, and rhubarb pie. But other than that I hope we are OK.
OK, my name says Jai is hott, I know, but Thom is pretty damn fine by my standards. Does it seems like every relativly cute, smart, funny or talented guy turnn out to be gay? Maybe it's just me. Plane Scenario Game, back to buisiness. I'd prob sit there for a while, thoughts just streaming through my head. Then, slowly, as the realization hits me, sink deep into my chair and rack my brain for somthing intelligent to say. As I can't think of anything, I'll just try and not look like a jackass as I walk up to the front of the plane, casually chat to the waitress about my Coke that I wanted 3 hours ago, walk back down and maintain total eye contact with him. Even if the plane went suddenly into horrible turbulance or plunged into the depths of the sea [god forbid both, although if we were stuck by turbluance, I might 'accidentaly' fall into Thom's arms, hopefully not crushing him!] I'd still keep eye contact, waiting for him to look up. Once he catches my eye, smile warmly say "Hi, Thom Filica, right?" "Yeah" "I'm a huge fan of yours, I love your show" "Thanks" "Look, it if doesn't seem to weird, being asked by a total stranger on a plane, could I have an autograph?" "Sure, who should I make it out to?" "Azzy will be fine, thanks so much" I say as I take the autographed photo of him with my shaky hand and sit back down. After a few minutes of hyperventilating, I'd pick up my mobile [cell phone] and call my hotel to wherever I'm going [by the way, I'm from Australia, so I don't know what JFK or LAX stands for] to make final reservations. "So my cab will be ready to take me to the new art opening [I don't know any art shows,slapping my wrist for you Jai]? Cool, bye" Wait a few minutes, then he'd turn around. "You're going to the art opening?" "Yeah, I'm a designer" "Really? I havent seen any of your work"
"No, I'm pretty much local based back home" "Home is where?"
"Australia" "Wow, what's it like?" And the rest of the convo you can imaginge yourself, because my fingers are getting sore!
not THAT guy ... that Guy. the one that's got the little bitty babies in His hands, all our sins & griefs to bear, an eye on the sparrow, etc etc etc. -- not particularly religious, just love love LOVE mahalia jackson. and you. if not, would have mentioned in the other thread that grapefruit shampoo is also used to kill fleas.
p.s. strawberry rhubarb pie w/ orange marmalade glaze, melty vanilla bean ice cream & jest a sprinkle of the nutmeg.
Ooops! Sorry! Well it just wouldn't be like Me to understand one of your posts, would it? The 'Guy' huh?
Remember when Alanis Morissette played the Guy in Dogma? Matt Damon played Loki & Ben Affleck played Bartleby- two out-of-favor angels trying to get back into Heaven. George Carlin played Cardinal Glick and Best of all, Alan Rickman played Metatron- the Voice of God. So apropos!
More seriously..I don't know much about Gospel Music, except that it is often beautiful. Mahalia Jackson has a wonderful reputation and is on my next order from Amazon. But I need a bit of distance from big emotional religious displays for my own peace of mind, so I'll probably enjoy the Gospel in small doses.
Fleas...? That must mean more to you who have cats. I have never had fleas in my house or on myself that I know of! If and when I have a cat, it will be an indoor cat and wear conservative black or grey claw tips! Fleas are verboten!
Love is always appreciated and returned to the best of my ability..notevayas
PS- I take your orange marmalade and spread it on my date and walnut muffins! I have never tried strawberry rhubarb pie. Strawberries plain are perfect. Much better than that goopy sorbet for feeding your lover aka Michael and Amy. Amy was beautiful and seemed sweet, but how could she hold her head up with her husband so thin and cooking his own starvation soup! All she had to do was cook a good chicken stew and leave it to simmer on the stove, and let nature take its course. Food is my aromatherapy, like shopping is Carsons cardio. Tszuj me Ted!!
Thanks for re-posting Rjaye. I lurked here a couple months before I posted and I knew that I didn't fit in, but I like the civil exchange of ideas here.
Eh hem... I think you're a PERFECT fit, here hon! ( )
As for the movie? The title is familiar. I'll have to check my local rental place to see if I recognise it... "Strangers in Good Company"... Hmmm... but I like the analagy! Peace! --De
I saw it at a neighbors and was very impressed. It is sort of like a "Get on the Bus" if you've seen that one, but with older women and more subtle. My favorite scene is when one of the women overturns her prescription medication into the water. She has been sort of putting up a barrier between herself and the world and she is ready to rejoin life! And I enjoyed the frog hunting..they run out of food!
I'll leave all the philosophy lessons out of it..just enjoy!
Did a purple, red, yellow, and white flowers this year. In honor of Thom, I planted Felicia (should be italized and underlined, darn cut and paste - I know, not exact spelling as Filicia but close) as the purple, which we can grow as an annual in my zone. Anyone else doing some growing to honor the our men?
Everything here grows on it's own. I dedicated my lilacs to Ted, and they perfumed the air near his birthday, my lilies of the valley underneath to Kyan. My pink rosebush is for Jai, Happy Birthday! Thom would like the flowers on my tree. The tree has always been here. I don't know the name of it but it has little wispy pink puffs of umbrella shaped blossoms that look very japanese and the leaves are like ferns. To Carson I dedicate all my varieties of tiger lilies, most of which are yet to bloom. notevayas
I APOLOGIZE. THE FAB FIVE ARE NUMBER 78, NOT 96!!!
A M O N G * T H E
P E R S O N A L I T I E S
Based on salary, web hits, press clips and TV/Radio interviews, the editors of Forbes magazine have ranked principal performers Ted, Kyan, Jai, Carson and Thom as78th of the 100 most powerful personalities of the year.
A great tribute to "the little show that could," and the men who make it possible. Thanks, guys! And congratulations to the two Davids and everyone at Scout Productions and Bravo.
Well, that was it, I hope you others will play too!
Sorry Jai_is_Hot, but I rarely fly. But, if by some miracle, next month, any of the Fab Five are on our vacation flight..the Last thing I would do is make a fuss!
However, I would ask (hopefully Carson) to accept a fan-letter I would quietly write during the trip. Maybe it would amuse him when he was rested and bored- especially being able to put a face to a fan-letter might make it more interesting? I think Thom said he used his travel time to sleep, so I wouldn't try to verbally chat. Besides, while my lover chats up anything in a skirt, talking to men would surely put him in a bad mood. Hardly the way to relax! But I have thought about it. I have seen people I recognize from television, but a wave and a 'thumbs up' is the appropriate response here in the North. They want to be recognized, but not approached if they're just trying to relax or enjoy the outdoors! notevayas
Hey guys,
I'm from Germany and I love the Fab5. When I was the first time in America I watched the show and I fall in love with them all but especially with Carson. It's so sad that Queer Eye for the Straight Guy will not shown in Germany. I miss it so much. It's unbelieveable what the five all can do. Great show! I hope one day will the show come over to Germany. Please Guys, help me. Carson, I love you!
I would be happy if someone want to write mails with me. I will fly next week to Florida for three weeks and hopefully I can watch the FAB5. My mailaddy: jenniferhennig@aol.com
Love you all,
I couldn't consider myself an animal lover if I didn't give this one last shot:
Cats claws are not toenails at the end of the toe as in other animals. It is a movable digit attached to muscle, ligaments, and tendons. This is unique in cats. Declawing is akin to cutting off half of their toes. When the end digit, including the claw is removed, the sensory and motor nerves are cut, damaged and destroyed. Following surgery there is a wooden lack of feeling, then a tingling sensation during the long convalescence while the cat must walk on the stub end of the second digit. During this time, the cat may not "rest" his feet as we would after a similar operation but must continue to scratch in his litter box, walk, and attempt to jump as usual regardless of his pain. Since cats have keener senses than humans, they suffer even more than humans. Many pain-killing drugs, including aspirin and Tylenol, do not agree with cats and can cause illness or even death. It is also possible for the claws to grow back, but often not in the normal manner. Instead they may grow through the top or bottom of the paw, creating a bloody, painful sore. I'm sorry to harp on this issue, but I'm so proud of Thom for bringing it up and for being so well informed. I took a year of Animal Health Technician classes and graduated number one in my class. I do not presently work in the field but I try to keep up with the information. Also, I'm a proud member of PETA and they are excellent about being willing to provide information to anyone who inquires. I'm sorry to sound like a cranky, know-it-all but this is a subject that is important to me.
Yup, she's graduating from 8th grade. When she was diagnosed dyslexic, I held her back one grade because she was not up to her level and I didn't want to make things worse. She failed once after that but now she is up to a level she can keep up with. She worked very hard and studied for her tests and exams and that's all I ever asked for. I'm absolutely estatic!
Hey Jen2 and welcome to the boards
There's been a couple of other people here who have had problems getting QE in their countries too. My recommendation, start a write-in campaign! Couldn't hurt, might help!
I just watched the preview clip for tonight's episode and all I can say is "THANK YOU KYAN FOR NOT WEARING A SPEEDO!!!!" It always seemed like he had taste and class. Now it is confirmed.
