Well we're off and running!! They showed the finale this afterrnoon!! Bravo is an addiction for me too!! I know each show backwards and forwards watching them over and over!! I'm not even a reality tv person, but I suppose the subject matter of food and clothing appeals to me!! I never tire of watching each episode!! What amazes me the most is when someone like Tiffani is caught in a 'whopper!' She knows the show is being taped, but insists on lying about things!! When she was called on the dessert thing, I couldn't have been happier!! What Chef tries to take credit for someone's recipe much less their efforts helping you prepare it?? I'm sure everyone jumped up and down in approval of Harold winning, but it was so evident he would take it!! A villianess like Tiffani couldn't possibly get away with all those horrid tactics of sabatage, backstabbing, rudeness, and lack of repect for others!! Watching and taping some clips of this season's PR at the moment!! Here's to a new season of TC!! I hope I don't like the new cast!! I hear they're going in a new direction this season!! We'll see how it flows!! I can save some time if they tick me off!! Such an obsession here!! lol!!

As usual, the chefs sure represent America. All are from NY, CA or Vegas--whoops Florida and Jersey, too. Typical ignorance of the rest of America--we've discovered air conditioning, indoor toilets, and oh yes, fine dining as well people.

Hi... I was just watching project runway and saw the intro of the Top Chef season 2 and I don't know where else to post this, so here it goes... Chef Borsich!!! Good Luck!!! You had just started at the cia and you and Chef Arnone were the instructors to go with my group to the Aspen Food and Wine Festival! I almost couldn't beleive it when I saw you on tv! Wish you all the best!! Good luck to you and the rest of the cooks competing!! hope this somehow gets to chef Borsich!

The show is definitely a winner. I am a "retired" Executive Chef (I'm only 43), my brother is still working as an Exe Chef. When we used to have parties, we would have each person bring any type of food item they wanted to bring (but had to be uncooked) and then me and my bro would hit the kitchen and whip dishes up from everything that had been brought. Looks like we had a show on our hands and didn't even know it...lol.

Okay, I am fully prepared to change my opinion, but I just don't dislike Marcel. Maybe he will be a real weenie tonight and I will hate him, but I think he is sort of interesting. He was really cute showing his knives in the extra footage.
I don't have a bad opinion of anyone except Marisa. Not a Marisa fan. She needs to go.

Marcel doesn't annoy me much--yet--but that bushy, "Wolverine" hairdo has to go. It's like he's trying to channel Hugh Jackman crossed with "A Flock of Seagulls" lead singer Mike Score a la 1982, only without the synth-pop and the hardcore dippity do.
All I know is, after last week's fiasco, I'm eagerly awaiting watching Marisa bite the big one.

Marcel's hair is a turn-off, but, other than his youthful overconfidence, I don't see him as being contemptible, at all. He's this season's Steven. Avocado and bacon ice-cream? Yuck, but, he's intrepid and daring.
I liked Betty, from the first show, but, her hysterical, almost psychotic hatred of young Marcel, took her down a notch for me. I like to see the underdog come out on top, and her attempt to humiliate the young chef was really mean-spirited, imo.
Betty seems like the most likely finalist, and possibly the Top Chef, but, I hope it is a more suspenseful season. The unexpected is what makes a reality show real. She's already overtaken the show, and it's making it anticlimactic, after only 3 episodes. It may actually spoil the season, if it continues to be the Betty Show.

Oh, so funny about Marcel's "Wolverine" hairdo--I was thinking the same thing! Hi, I'm new. My two favorites are Ilan and Sam--I think they're both soooo cute! I like Betty and Marcel too for some strange reason. I know a few people think Betty is wenchy, but I think she has a cute personality at times, and most of the other chefs seemed to like her (up until now, anyway). Marcel and Elia I think will make an interesting alliance--the mad scientist and the beautiful but quiet and super-serious one--and they have a previous history to boot.

You're not alone in being annoyed by Betty. I question her integrity and her mental well-being. She totally turned me off over that Camp Glucose challenge and feigning ignorance. This season's contestants don't seem to be as talented as last. I don't see a Harold or even a Lee Ann in this bunch. Michael is a slob who doesn't care. Right now Sam and Cliff are the only two that I could see winning this competition.

The dynamics are definitely different this season. I loved Leeann, Dave, Harold, and even Tiffany from last season. They were awesome. Maybe we need to get to know this crew, but, so far, my affections are for Marcel, because Betty hates him, and I hate Betty, Sam, because he's cool, Frank, and I am warming up to Marisa. I like her a million times more than Betty.
I couldn't agree more with everyone about Betty. I hate being negative in my first post, but, that Camp Glucose episode bothered me so much, I had to register and add my voice!
It wasn't right for Betty to feign innocence, when the rules couldn't be more clear! For heaven's sake, the dishes were thoroughly monitored, and checked off! Is she a total moron? No, she's a total liar and faker.
Betty lost me from her hyper neurotic behavior from the start. It is ruining this season, and I don't know if I can take much more of her, honestly. If I thought she would get sent home, I'd be optimistic, but, it feels like they are catering to this prima donna phony, and that it's all set up for her to win. After Camp Glucose, the show's lost integrity for me.
The only thing that will restore the competition aspect, is if they get rid of her.
I had to get that off my chest. That felt good. Something about her got under my skin, almost from the beginning. She reminds me of this snake I worked with, who acted like sunshine and light, but, was undermining everyone, and acted like the rules didnt apply to her. When she was promoted after backstabbing everyone, I quit. I may quit the show, it bothers me so much!

Agree 100%!!! What happened to this season? Is there someone new in production. Even Tom has changed and is not quite as fair and professional. Cliff is a favorite so far. But those contestants all appear like patients on a psych unit or rehab facility; and I am sincere about that. Betty is irritating and if I were a child, Josie would scare me to death. If these were the 13 best, who in the world was turned down? I used to enjoy the bounus videos but don't even watch them now, enough is enough.

There are worse cases of integrity than Betty's. Fingerpointer Mia also added sugar to her coleslaw on the second day. What a hypocrite!! This was mentioned in Tom Colicchio's blog. There were also the chefs who used extra olive oil and wouldn't step up to the plate but chose to remain silent. So don't put the integrity issue all on Betty's head.

I thought it was interesting that when asked at the judges table who came up with the idea of serving pizza, Frank claimed it. But if you watch the video, Betty came up with the idea and Frank executed it. A minor point but I would think that a man with the kind of integrity that the Bull claims wouldn't feel the need to claim something that was untrue.

The wording by guest judge Goin was ambiguous: " Whose decision was it to make the pizza?" The pizza was Betty's idea to use as the main course but it was Frank's decision that he should make it.

Exactly. I really dislike Mia. I can't stand people like her who won't own up. Sam immediately said 'this is what I told the judges, blah blah blah' while Mia sat there silently. Yes Betty deserves some of the blame but not ALL of it.
As far as Marcel (I see posts mentioning that hairdo of his) I think he's funny. He might be obnoxious at times but it's not in a mean-spirited way; though when he was taunting Betty during that other episode at the fire house, I thought she should have slapped him upside the head. He's just young and I'm sure this whole experience will be a good one for him.

Marcel's bio describes him as a "master cook", not a "master chef". A master cook is a fancy name for a line chef. while a master chef is a title bestowed to only 127 chefs that have reached the very top of their profession. Jacques Pepin is one of the 127.
