I say Bravo to Jonathan....he is living my dream.I have been in this business for 30 years and I know how frustrating it can be.It is hard work and if you make it big... hooray.
I love watching the show,I will support it because how many times have you seen a show about hair stylists that doesn't portray someone in the kitchen of their home doing hair....or in an old delapidated shop somewhere in a frumpy little town doing updos. It's about time...Thanks Bravo.

I couldnt agree more. This is TV people anyone who thinks that this stuff actually does happen in every day real life is only fooling themselves. I live about 45 minutes from Beverly hills and i saw the salon didnt look real busy at 1:30 in the afternoon. Hollywood is Hollywood ego goes with the territory. Little teeny poppers love the show because it's so scripted for an unscripted show.. Has anyone forgotton that US fans made hollywood we made the stars you see today, if it wasnt for us there wouldnt be a hollywood. We go see the movies, we are fans of the people's work, they worked damn hard to get there and i support true talent what ever genre that may be. I will never spend 300-500 bones for a haircut while i can go into a supercuts and spend 12 and get the exact same thing. Beverly hills is the most overrated city in the world. These are only people the only difference is they get paid a lot of money to memorize a few lines and be in front of the camera, I know a few of the Hollywood A list and most of them are very humble and content where they are in there lives and the big stars always know that tomorrow it can all be over and that is why i support them.
But i do like Jonathan's drive and determination to get the best product out there, if you dont love what your doing then you shouldnt do it. He loves what he does-more power to him.. I will continue to watch the show and see how the salon progresses. Hell i might even go in so Kim can cut my hair.

Wow.....how did I miss this one!
From what I've seen so far, I have the utmost respect for Johnathan. Opening a salon in such a short amount of time and not giving up or giving in to the roadblocks....you go Johnathan!! What I don't get...is why some people don't get him. My gosh, he's a guy putting his name on a business/service, giving other hair stylist a chance to do thier thing without putting Dr. outfits on them and some people are acting as though he's an egomaniac....it's his reputation on the line people! You don't go washing your hair, blow drying your hair, asking people out or some of the other things the stylists have been doing. It's a business...you wouldn't go to corporate America and say....just a sec...I need to wash my hair in the bathroom! Johnathan....great job getting rid of Brandon...competition my a$$! Now Johnathan is putting his reputation on the line with hair products and some of the players want him to be satisfied with goop just to get the product out?....what's wrong with you people? Johnathan...if you read this....you go cutie...don't you dare settle.
As for his ego pertaining to women, I'm still evaluating. He seems to have a heart, to care etc...but what about people who are not beautiful and tan, or if his girlfriend gains a little weight? All in all he seems like a great guy and his personal life is none of my business anyway....I just hope he's not a sleep with them, notch on the bedpost type of guy...don't know how he gets the time!

I agree with JamesP, Jon boy always refers to Vidal Sassoon...and his latest to become as big as Vidal? First our boy wonder (jon) isn't as creative or as inovative as the Master Vidal. And second, Regis Corporation owns the Vidal Sassoon salons, schools and liscensing agreement with Proctor and Gamble, neither companies would put up with the antics of this pre-madonna. Don't beleive?...check it out...
http://www.regiscorp.com/corporate/regisNe...etail.cfm?ID=83Gordon Nelson the Education Director of Regis was one of only seven stylists asked to cut on stage for Vidal's anniversary, I don't recal Jon boy being asked.

Jonathan:
Be yourself! Therapy is what you take from it. It takes a strong man to share his private life with millions of viewers. I think that perhaps you view your salons as your family. Which is not a bad thing. But a realtionshi just like a business takes lots of ard work and committment. Until you are ready to let someone in and let down your guard.......but then again I am not a therapist by trade. I realize that ther eis more to you than what is on TV, and honey your good looks and charm alone wont carry a relationship. I wish you the best! I truely wish I could visit the salaons for a day of pampering, however I live in the midwest.

I really admire Jonathan's drive and ambition. I just worry that's he's spreading himself too thin and the pressure is getting too much. Guess that goes with being a workaholic. But there's definitely something to be said for finding a balance in life. I hope once the product line is launched he can scale back a little and relax.

HERE, HERE, WELL SAID!! This guy is his own biggest fan, and it's rather annoying to watch him refer to himself in the third person as well as berate his employees for no other reason than to throw a hissy fit and have someone pay attention. Get over yourself. Where's the "BH" salon now that the InStyle party is over?
The way he treats his assistant is especially reprehensible. When Kim stood up for herself, she had "an attitude"?! Jon-boy, you ARE disgusting attitude. Look a little CLOSER in the mirror instead of just fawning over your weave all of the time. You're the most pretentious, conceited, shallow person I've ever seen. And you're so proud of it. Wonder why you're still single, you charmer.... And do tell where you get that salmon-colored spray-on tan. It suits you.

I really like the show and how is depicts the life of a business owner in Beverly Hills, I also know that J. Antin is a good hairstylist, I wish they would take a minute on the show to look at the technical stuff of being a hairstylist, on how looks are achieved and how one gets a concept for a new style or facial shape. As a budding stylist myself about to graduate hair school this show rocks and so does Jonathan. By the way, I am glad to see that someone else saw the movie "Last American Virgin" besides me. Steve rocks too!

While I appreciate the intestinal fortitude that Jonathan has and I admire what he has done and is doing to fulfill his dream, I can't help feeling this guy is a jerk. I will say that he doesn't know he's a jerk. Regarding episode 1 of the new season, as a professional of his caliber didn't he think it was appropriate to first ask the golden globe client if she would mind if the other stylist did her hair? Maybe introduce him to the client, maybe offer the client a free or discounted consult with the other stylist before asking him to rearrange his life? Bad business. I have been a nail tech for 12 years and granted I'm not on the same planet as Jonathan but I would never arrange for one of my clients to be done by antoher tech without their prior knowledge of it. It's unprofessional and inconsiderate to the people you work with. I respect the fact that his name is on the door but at the same time you can't keep excellant stylists and techs if you do not show them the respect they have earned and deserve. I agree with a lot of the posts when they say it's like a train wreck, you watch out of morbid couriosity.

The main reason why Johnathan is in business is because most people in LA are as stuck up as he is so they all just blow smoke up each other's *****.The main reason why Johnathan's stylists put up with him is for one main reason ..the money! The only person Johnathan trained so far is Kim and she sucks!I mean, she can't even use clippers! I don't charge $500 a haircut, but if Kim can charge people $200, so can I !Besides, Johnathan does the same exact haircut every time.

I have to say I'm torn about all of this. He seems to have such a poor, arrogant, holier-than-thou attitude, but I've lived out there and done hair out there and it is totally the going environment. It's all ego! I agree about prices, though, if you can't use a clipper properly, clients shouldn't have to pay 200 a cut from a girl fresh out of training. You go to a salon like that to get the best, not get fresh talent! I think Kim's great but that is just a game of favoites, putting her on the floor so green. Regardless of J.A.'s s**t attitude, if he is as great as he's 'projected to be' on the show, I'd put up with it and work with him just for the exposure. Currently I am the best stylist in the salon I'm in now, but I have also worked for arrogant, miserable people who are incredible artists and visonaries, and I'd work for the jerks with the talent than the pleasant mediocres anyday, how else are you going to learn if you're not surrounded by people to learn by? In my short experience, great or just ok, the ones worth learning from know how good they are and usually have a tendancy to act like a pompous ass because of it. It's unfortunate, though, that the attutude seems to be a rite of passage for so many great artists, otherwise People like Jonathan would be a lot more pleasurable to watch and I imagine work for!

I think that he does very diffent work on his haircuts. I have had the pleasure of meeting him twice. I saw 6 haircuts and they were all different. He gets paid for what he is worth. I think people are a bit to hard to judge when it is his salon and his product and he has the say as to what will be done.

I am just amazed at the number of people who take the time to bash a show. I personally love the show, its entertaining and I love Jonathon's outlook and go getter style. He has payed his dues and deserves to run his salon the way he seems best. I dont know if its just the hatters that have the time to post bad comments ands insight, Or if the people who truly like the show do not respond the way the hatters do. You guys give him a break, Its his show, his salon, and he deserves the right to do as he pleases with it. Maybe the hatters should concentrate on themselves a little bit more than worrying about a succesful person that they wish they could be. If you dont like it, change the channel, I love the show and give Jonathon a big ups.!!!!

Jonathan Antin is one of the rudest, shallowest, egotistical people I have ever seen on television. I sometimes hope it's just a character for the television, since a person of his caliber is truly a bane to humanity. So what if his name is on the door, if he owns the salon, if he is so successful the money rolls in -- he is gaining the world but losing his soul. And one of the greatest characteristics of a successful man is humility, which Jonathan lacks. Plus, Jonathan needs to get a grip on his complaints at the therapist, since what he complains about is what he does exactly to others. I wish the therapist would just get up and slap him! However, as someone mentioned in another post, Los Angeles is filled with this type of shallow egotism, so he fits in there. If he was down here in the South, he would have been castrated by the first person (female or male) that he mouthed off to. Stay in LA, Jonathan -- that's the only place you can make it.

I think Jonathan is hot. But he cries too much. He seems to have a lot of issues that need addressing. I worked at a salon for a while and I get the stress, as we had our own product line as well, but the drama is a little too much. He is hot though and his cockiness is typical of BH.

Is it me or does Jonathan's face look un-human, like he's had a major accident and reconstructive surgery? His cheekbones are waaaaaaay dis-proportionate and his forehead looks like a storage tank for botox! Everything about his face looks fake!
He tries to be friends w/his employees. That's the root of his problems. He keeps talking about his gf, how good they are for each other. Which episode will she dump him in? He pays more attention to gazing at himself in the mirror than he does to her!!!!!!!!

Did you notice the episode where he cut his girlfriends haircut, and her body language told you she hated it? As a boss in a service industry, I respect my employees and myself too much to act like this baffoon Jonathan. And those horrible tattoes he has. They are the worst bunch of tattoes I have seen. He should wear long sleeve shirts. And what is wrong with this guys face? What are those hollow cheeks about--heroin addiction, AIDS?
I loved the passive aggressive act he pulled with the marketing agent who was trying to promote and market his sleezy hair products. He kept them waiting for 2 hours. He is a total ass. I hope he totally fails. Maybe the Gods are listening. He deserves to fail. I am praying for that!

I love BLOW OUT! As someone with a stylist background, I do not find Jonathan Antin's attitude offensive at all. In this industry, you are going to find a lot more Diva's than Wallflowers! I love his attitude and zest, and believe he has given his hired stylists pure oppurtunity to work in his salon. KWIM?
I am hoping for much success in all of Johnathan Antin's business aspects! I have met him in person, and he is very benevolent, super professional, and talented. His staff all seemed to work together like clockwork. Remember, this is Reality TV, and we only see a few hours (per season) of what has occured over many MONTHS. So, for good TV what are we going to see? Of course, the DRAMA.....just like every other Reality TV show. Just imagine video cameras in your workplace for months at a time....
I looked at sephora.com and found that JOHNATHAN (product line) is onsale there....

This board is setup very odd. Why isn't there a simple "post" button?
Anyway, Season 1 was much more entertaining to watch that Season 2 is turning out to be. Kimberly made some of the blow outs a little easier to watch. Such a cutie. You hardly see her now and all you hear about is that her "numbers" aren't up. She dedicated 2 years to her business in a position I wouldn't have the interest in holding onto and putting up w/ everyone's attitude. He needs to give her some time to build up her clients.
As for Jonathan's girlfriend??? I can't even understand that one. She's not attractive in the least and seems really immature and uninteresting. I just don't get that at all. Why are they even showing her?

Yes, Jonathan is wearing a hairpiece for sure. Look carefully at the front hairline and the corners. It's all squared off and carefully arranged so you really can't tell where the hairline is. It's similar to Ben Affleck's or Jimmy Fallon's hairpieces. Yes it's true! You have to know how to spot them. As far as Jonahthan's sexuality goes, I think he is asexual. He doesn't seem capable of having sexy thoughts because that might involve actually thinking about someone else.

I just started watching the show at the end of the 1st season and i love it! I was curious about his products so i went to Sephora to see them in person, i was disappointed. I think the products are priced too high for the amount of product you get. Although people will buy them becuz "JONATHAN" is on the bottle. I love watching this show, but this guy is a piece of work! I am wondering why his shrink hasn't treated him for his Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Could he be more self-involved?
These are the symptoms from the bible of psych disorders:
Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Category
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personality Disorders
Etiology
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like most personality disorders, there are many factors that may contribute to the development of symptoms. Because the symptoms are long lasting, the idea that symptoms begin to emerge in childhood or at least adolescence is well accepted. The negative consequences of such symptoms, however, may not show themselves until adulthood.
Symptoms
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder revolve around a pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and sense of entitlement. Often individuals feel overly important and will exaggerate achievements and will accept, and often demand, praise and admiration despite worthy achievements. They may be overwhelmed with fantasies involving unlimited success, power, love, or beauty and feel that they can only be understood by others who are, like them, superior in some aspect of life.
There is a sense of entitlement, of being more deserving than others based solely on their superiority. These symptoms, however, are a result of an underlying sense of inferiority and are often seen as overcompensation. Because of this, they are often envious and even angry of others who have more, receive more respect or attention, or otherwise steal away the spotlight.
Sound familiar?
And my husband thinks he is a closet homosexual since he seems to overcompensate for everything.

Again, I don't think he's that interested in sex or intimate relationships with men or women. That would take away from "me" time, and that's the last thing he wants.
And the girlfriend thing is as fake as TomKat. He sounded unconvincing when he lamely referred to her as "my girl".
Also, she just pops up out of nowhere. One minute he has to keep his flirting in check then suddenly he has a girlfriend. Not buying it. That's just one of the fun things of the show.

I have never posted to an online board before, but I was so moved by this show I couldn't resist.
What is wrong with BRAVO? It usually airs quality shows that are not available anywhere else on cable. This "Jonathan Show" certainly does not live up to the quality of their other shows.
Jonathan's disply of ego is outragous; what a name-dropper and a big phony. He is a hair stylist, but the world does not revolve around the condition of someone's hair. It might be interesting to get Jonathan off the screen and really see what goes on in the salon. Also, it might help if he could use some of that money he is earning to learn to speak correctly and maybe take a few acting lessons.
And what about the product placement. If his product line is so great, why is he selling it on QVC.
Gotta go change the channel.

I too have never posted to a on-line board, that said I have been a hairdresser for 20 years and salon owner for 13years. I feel Jonathan gives us all a bad name. I love what I do and enjoy working with my clients and co-workers, what we do is make people feel better about themselves. The only person Jonathan is interested in is himself. I don't care if you pay 400 or 40 dollars for a haircut it doesn't make it a good haircut or a good experience. Hairdressers like Jonathan make me want to be an accountant. He makes me sick that he treats his clients and co-workers with such little respect. I have worked with very talented people and true talent just is it doesn't have to beat you up to believe in it.

Apparently you didn't hear when Beth Anne said "the investors" today. It's not HIS MONEY. It's the investor's money. He's not using his resources, he's using Beth Anne and Tina's Company resources. He's not even willing to share his office space for the sake of the product -- there's no Jonathan "dream" without them. He wants to have two salons and launch a hair product line? Well, he should stop whining and complaining why people want a piece of him and take responsibility for what he created himself.
It's funny how things are ALWAYS his way, specially when it's not even about him. When doing the hair for B Michael, he said "his way or no way" without even considering the B Michael fashion show is about B Michael clothes and NOT about Jon boy's hair. He's so egocentric that thinking there is a human being really like that makes me throw up.
I hope this portrayal of him is because of the editing. If he's really like that, this guy has some serious psychological issues to work out and don't think one shrink will be enough to help him.
What I find even more disturbing that Jon (I keep in perspective this is television and it's supposed to be entertaining) is that people on this message board find his actions justifiable. Where is Batman when you need him????

His dream, his ideas, not only his money. There's an investor involved. It was mentioned in the episode. People expect a return on the investment, and he needs to contribute to the process in a positive way.
The problem is that he behaves like a thug. He doesn't know how to articulate the simplest thought. He swears constantly at business associates, employees and anyone in his way.
If the logo guy asks him to give him direction he should just say "I think I'd like it better if it were more colorful, bigger, different typeface, incorporating a geometric design"...or whatever.
Not only can't he articulate any intelligent idea but he antagonizes the guy by saying "hate it, hate it, hate it...", etc.
Dream...Ok, but let's be civilized!

Beautiful!!!! Finally a show I can relate to!!! However, Jonathan, COME ON Jennifer??? Ditch her! She is trouble! I've recently been made to leave, kicking and screaming, the profession that I live, eat, breath, and not sleep over for the past twenty years... yah, I'm crying, just a sec... I've been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis... ANY WAY!! As long as the dr's not looking I'm still knee deep in the theatrical end, local theatre co's, runway (San Fran.), and weddings state/nation wide. You have the owner persona NAILED- DRAMA and ATTITUDE are king...and LA is worlds different from SF and NY... But tell the BITCHES that there are dressers out there who had to do shampoos, answer phones, and sweep for at least a year before they became an after thought on Maiden Lane (SF) or 5th Ave (NY), REGARDLESS OF EXPERIENCE or "HAIR-DRESSER-NESS". Not that you'd need a line or any help, but my employment requirements include reception, relaxation, absolute satisfaction, and a "swingin'" exit. Any dresser that can't see their way to knowing that this industry is based on SERVICE and SATISFACTION, can see their reflection on the outside of the front window. Off the soap box!! NY kicked your ASS, didn't it? You could see it in your performance, dear in the head lights.
