Oh man, I sooooo hope there is a second season of Blowout. I feel that if there won't be at least another season then we've been teased. This totally sucks. Now I can't look at Jonathan's hot self unless I go to his BH salon myself. Blah.

I love the show. I just couldn't wait for the next show. Will there be more shows like this? I really miss it already! I'm a hairdresser and enjoyed watching from an outside prospective. And I would love to see more in the future.
tinamarie
i miss the show too!! our clients miss it, the hair people miss it....jonathan! we need more.......love tina

I think one of my favorite moments in the show was the episode where Jonathan constructed an expensive wig for a client that was going through chemo and personally delivered it to her. I'll never forget that-even I got a little choked up. It proved what a great person Jonathan really is-caring and humane. Even more unforgettable was when he got his staff to participate in the Revlon Run/Walk because he was feeling so inspired by that one client. For me, seeing this episode made me respect Jonathan even more-though I already liked him. It shows you that Jonathan is a person just like the rest of us. He has his moments, but I can relate to them. He has made mistakes, but he tries to learn from them. He has a heart. More importantly, he has proved that despite all of his struggles, he can succeed. I'm sure that he'll continue to be successful, and I wish him the best!

My girlfriends and I love this show. Please tell me it will be a continuing series......Jonathan is such a great person. He makes you wish he was your friend. He doesn't profess to be perfect and he is willing to admit if he is wrong. With the type of creative personalities he has to work with in that industry he certainly does a great job and it is so mesmerizing to see all of said personalities interacting and also the clients and the area also. Great new series....

I absolutely love the show. Jonathan is great. I would pay $500 to get my hair done by him. I just have one question when does the next season start?
karend_phd
I read in the American Salon magazine that there is gonna be a 2nd season, but it didn't say when it would be airing...hopefully soon tho...i miss the show
WDWwedding2004
i must be an only lonely here, but i think Jonathan is an idiot! love Jen though and Alicia gets on my nerves! goodness she is sooo annoying! i miss Brandon!

I love this show! It soooo rocks! Jonathan is soooo HOT HOT HOT HOT!!!!!! But I have noticed that they have been showing the first season in re-runs on CNN. Is the going to be a 2nd season? There just has to be... Jonathan has to get a woman, preferably me! J/K. We have to see how Kimberly is doing now that she passed her final. Does anyone know if it is coming back?
ricco
I am a Hairdresser and love the show. I would really like to know how I can get on video the episodes?
bleachblonde
So does anybody know if they are gonna do a second season? If so, they TOTALLY need to bring back Brandon! He MADE the show...it was boring after he left!!! And he's way hotter than Jonathon ever had a chance at!
tgaryx
I love the show. I love the drama. I love Jonathan salon and the gang. I want more!
smile23
I just read about Brandon in this month's W magazine. (It's the one with Julia Roberts on the cover) Brandon was written up for someone to watch in 2005.

I think anyone that has a job that requires 6 months of trainging should not make 75 - 100 bucks an hour! that's carp. johnoathon couldn't make an ugly person beautiful. only the prissy hollywood superficial people he caters to could benefit from his hair cut.

Try using spell check [censored].

Hey, I'm just am average person in the Deep South and although you are correct about the money thing, that is a societal issue (to the one who has already replied, no spellcheck on this board, try a dictionary). If you can make the money, go for it.

By the way, why isn't there any curl products in QVC? This is the only format I can purchase the Jonathon Products line as I am in Louisiana, unless there is another venue I don't know about. We like good hair down here too!!

Saw the show (marathon) over the weekend for the first time. Jonathan is funny, but his ego can barely get through the door, but he does have to play for the cameras or it'd be a snooze fest.
I did like the waitress cut -- Jason a good stylist.
I didn't like what Jonathan did to the girl w/really long black hair (it was gorgeous) and he cut it to her shoulders and flipped the ends (yikes).

Kimberly is adorable; she deserves a medal.

I love all the kiss, kiss, superficial greetings...cracks me up everytime. Oh, and how everyone goes on like they've been transformed into a prom queen when their walking out, granted, they do look better.. a bit overkill, though. It reminds me of a perm I got (years ago), I looked ridiculous..everyone knew I looked ridiculous..but the salon staff 'ooohh'd and ahhhh'd' anyway, like I was the village idiot.
But hey, looking forward to Season 2 -- Go Johnny Go!
Rottie593
I just watched the show where we meet up with the design people for the new product package. Ditch these freaks! They don't care about you or your product they only care about their deadline. Go with an unknown. They will be more then happy to meet you on the moon if they had too just to be able to work with you. I'm sure there is some team out in California that is hungry and can use this type of a break. Remember the customer is always right. You know what you want and i can't understand why you would put up with this. They are not the only game in town. You only get one chance to make a first impression. His first impression stinks. Take care, be well and good luck.

when you try to run a business, you cant always be everyone's friend. lighten up! No pun intended. Jonathan does exactly the best he can do. Maybe I am partial, because I haven't had a crush on anyone in 30 years! He has "it" all, and is not an a.., he is a consumate businessman.
KellyH
Hello from a new member! I got hooked on this show after watching the marathon last week. The only aspect of the staff that bothers me is that they [expletive deleted] about working conditions in front of clients. I think that it's very unproffesional. Keep your whining quiet and address problems and concerns after hours. I was also sad to see Jenn leave

Season 2 Episode 2
Episode 2 was crazy! I'm a graphic designer and I do package design. The guy (and his silent dork) from Zorbit shocked me. Maybe Jonathon should have seen their work before a concept meeting-but his attitude ("we don't have time for a dog-and-pony") was totally uncalled for. Because Scott Osh-hole was in the crunch (with everyone else)HE can act like a prima donna?? what a hypocrite. He should be used to being near the end of the timeline - that's one of the downsides of the design business. I don't think he's good enough to be above acting like a civil professional. AND showing up at the second meeting with those ridiculous type/"logo" samples? It clearly wasn't enough to go on. Jonathon's style isn't that hard to interpret. It's not fun and wild and geared for teens. It's total metro sexual. No guess work. No big mystery.

It is not possible that these two clowns pretending to be graphic artists can be real. I have been an Art Director/Graphic Artist for well over 20 years and have never acted in such a prima donna way. These boys need a good old fashion [expletive deleted] slapping. My customers are some of the largest in the country and some of the smallest. All get treated with the same respect. The fact that they showed up at the Jonathan’s salon with six versions of Jonathan’s name typed in different fonts shows them to be the frauds that they are. When Jonathan came to their studio they should have had a few designs ready to get an idea of what he likes. His style is clean, simple and perfection. Jonathan is an extremely busy man and he should be accommodated. He can be proofed designs via e-mail with .pdf files or low resolution .jpg. They could also have FTP site that Jonathan can just log onto and see his proofs. When he asked Jonathan for “access to him”, I could see that these two schmucks just wanted to be on TV for free advertising. Well boys, I believe this will hurt your careers more that help. Next time you need artwork Jonathan, contact BRAVO and they will give you my e-mail address and I will do it for free. -Ziggy

Completely true. I'm also an Art Director and I understand Zorbit has plenty of experience in the beauty industry, but there are tons of other design studios and freelancers with the same amount of experience and even more talented than the designers at Zorbit. I do however understand that in order to make "good television" make the "Jonathan Antin" show "work" you need the clash of personalities of people like Jon boy and Scott Osh-ole. However, people like Scott give the rest of talented, professional Art Director (like you and me) a bad name and a bad reputation for people who have never worked with a graphic designer before. Respectable graphic design firms don't work with the amount of drama Zorbit/Scott work. That will certainly affect their name as a studio (at least outside of LA).

Quote: "As the show ended, I realized that although Jonathan was struggling with getting his salon opened, I didn't feel like I sympathized with him. He didn't make me want to be in his corner."

I have to agree with the person that said showing him at his therapy session is fake and "scripted." I didn't understand that part of the show. I feel that if he's so concerned with how things are going he needs to make a change.

I have to agree with you. I tried to see his way and why he has a tude, but its hard. He fired Brandon for his antics and for him not wearning long sleeves to hide his tattoes yet Jonathan exposes his tatoes when he's in his shop. He critizied Brandon for asking a client out but Jonathan kisses all of his clients. I personally believe that Jason is the cause of Brandon getting fired. He exaggerated what happened on the floor between Brandon and his client. Granted Brandon shouldn't have done what he did, but Jason really made it sound horrible and it wasn't. At least to me.

The only time I've been in Jonathan's corner is with the designers of his product. That designer has more of an attitude than Jonathan, but the difference is, he's (the designer)is getting paid by Jonathan and therefore he should be there on time and ready to work.

Jealousy is a [expletive deleted] isn't it!

May be you guys are the fakes, would you really show process on a reality show?? This firm is working with the biggest in the LUX cosmetic biz, and just won two of the largest awards for packaging in the industry!

Guess you guys are spending too much time on the "boards" instead of watching your business, and designing, other wise you could say the same.

Jonathan, seems like ZORBIT was a great choice, product looks AWESOME! Scott really seems like he was a hand full!

NorCaliSali & Zig, (ALSO in Season 2 thread)
While i agree this is reality tv and not reality-they had to meet and review in person for drama factor-how can anyone claim they know their audience? That wasn't OBVIOUS101 to me. That was premeditated? I'm sure high level executives are masochists dying to be talked down to. In my opinion they sabotaged any future business by their lack of design skill alone. That doesn't even speak to their "acting" abilities as A-hole 1 & Silent Hole. If they're so good why was the only thing anyone found about them that flimsy bio piece? I respect designers for their work.. not how desperately they want to be on a soap opera.. and I certainly couldn't base it on a David Hasslehoff motorcycle jacket. I'm with you Zig.

Do you actually think that those were real meetings that took place. Don't you think that it was done in the name of entertainment? Think about it. There is no way Jonathin would risk his entire life savings and everythink he has worked for on 2 designers that acted like that. No way, no how. I think it was all B.S. for the sake of the show. Funny how you describe Jonathan's aethetic as clean, simple and perfection yet you're busting on the designers. You're statement perfectly describes the work that they did. There is more than one way to skin a cat but you're coming across as a sourpuss. meow!

Those 'logos' that Xorbit presented looked like they were printed on high quality paper after being cut and pasted from Microsoft Word!
pinkykat
I don't remember exactly what was presented but I think I remember them just showing basic logo directions. i.e. serif face, sans serif, just to see what jonathan reacted to and what he liked and didn't like. I use that technique often to see where the client's head is at. Once I get a better idea of what the client likes, I start developing the logo.

Hi , Im new to the forum? Umm I disagree with the poster that says Jonathan is out of his element. The show is just plain GREAT !

I have a SERIOUS QUESTION about a SANTANA CLIP that is in one of the current shows, the one when the staff "tries to tell him how to run his business."

Im heavy into guitar im 38 male in Columbus Ohio and have to buy whatever this Santana clip came from. Carlos is my tone Guru. Peace and Love Everyone ! thanks EL

GET RID OF IT! It is giving Bravo a bad name!

First of all, most of these posts were so riduculous I had to say something.

Primarily, these are not graphic artists, they are award winning creative directors, and there IS a huge chasm of difference between the two. It's something of a struggle to get people to understand the difference, and frankly, I don't work with people who don't.

When you ascend to a certain level, you don't have to take every job that lands on your doorstep. Infact, part of being a good business person is knowing which jobs to turn down.

Creative Directors don't work FOR someone, they work WITH you. That's the difference.

I was recently interviewed and they asked me what I do with "problem clients."

My answer was this... as a designer, I CREATE problem clients. First, by choosing to work for them. I need to recognize from first contact which clients are going to be a problem and decide if I can manage it or not. If not, I turn the job down. Otherwise, as the designer, I need to control the situation and put up limits and parameters for the client, or else they WILL run amock.

I completely agree with everything these two designers have done. To meet at a hair salon? Please. You meet at an office where you can review and edit the work.

To keep someone waiting for 2 hours? I would SO bill them for that, right before cancelling the contract for breach AND I'd take my kill fee with me.

Lastly, people need DIRECTION. I don't bring things to an initial meeting. its not worth my time to mock it up, I need to know something about your first. Frankly this Jonathan guy cares SO little, why is he involved in the design process?

Seven days is NOTHING. NO TIME. Its ridiculous. i would be as upset as Zorbit.
NYMom
I have to say - I am impressed with the show. I knew Jonathan when I lived in LA. In fact, I took over his sister's apartment and then he became my hair stylist. His entire family is just wonderful and I am glad to see that his true kind personality is coming through! Way to go Jonathan! It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
NYMom
I think that you have some valid points, but when you spend 20 years building a trade, whether you are an artist or an entrepreneur who owns a business - that marketing and design is going to have your name on it. You take it personally. Remember that editing is involved in a television show. Jonathan is a great guy and I think that he has every right to want to control his image. I own my own company and I would take as much control as was necessary to ensure that my name and thus my image - were exactly correct. Rosie O'Donnell had a huge legal battle over just this topic - and won.
Alessandro
Jonathan is God's gift to life ! I just so happened to be flipping channels last night and I was blessed enough to run into this show. This guy is stunning. I mean I have seen some good looking men but this guy beats them all. He is "perfetto" !!! Jonathan: if you ever read this don't flatter yourself though OK ? =)...you are just simply the best looking guy with the best voice and best everything on the face of this earth...=) Good day !

What happened to Jenn from Season 1?
etidd
Jenn quit to go work at another salon.

Is it just me or does anyone else think there was something between Jenn and Jonathan? I know I know I know... Jenn has a "partner" but I still think there was something there. For example, remember the show in Season 1 where the salon was doing hair for some Fur show and Jenn absolutely would not do it because of the Fur issue? And now Jonathan's products are all Vegan... I think that was out of respect for Jenn.

Crazy? Maybe...
Robinpm
I agree - after watching the show last year, I could "feel" his stress of opening the 2nd location. He needs to learn to delegate and let go.

I just started to watch this season, (thanks to TiVo) as he is trying to launch his products. I want to pick up the phone and give him advise on how to manage his time. I own my own company, so I can relate to him feeling like he is being pulled in 10 different directions. I work with creative people everyday, but the guy from the design agency is a real jerk - I can't believe that Jonathan has not fired him as of yet. He would last about 30 sec with me, since I would be the client.
Robinpm
I AGREE! the designer from Zorbit is a real axx. I an the founder of an creative design agency, so I work with creative individuals everyday, all day. When I watched the show in which Zorbit man pulled up to the salon wearing jeans and a motocycle jacket, I was a bit surprised. I am sure that Jonathan does not know much about creative design and consumer packaging design, but as the client, he should be treated with respect.

I am also very surprised that Zorbit man does not use technology to communicated his design concepts! If I were on Jonathan's team, I would have fired Zorbit after the first meeting -
Robinpm
I AGREE! The guy from Zorbit is a real axx.

I am the founder of a creative design agency. I work with creative individuals’ everyday, all day and with several recognizable Fortune 500 clients in Silicon Valley. So when I watched the show a few weeks ago, Zorbit kept Jonathan wanting, and then made up some excuses. Then when Zorbit “man” pulled up to Jonathan’s salon wearing jeans and a motorcycle jacket, I was surprised again, what happened to dressing the part when visiting clients.

I’m sure Jonathan is not very familiar with the creative design and consumer packaging design process, but as the client, he should be treated with respect. Zorbit “man” talks down and treats Jonathan like he is just some dumb stylist.

I am also very surprised that Zorbit does not use technology to communicate design concepts! If I were on Jonathan's team, I would have fired Zorbit after the first meeting – but……….that’s just me!
Robinpm
Pinkykat - get real

Designers DO behave in that manner - I know, I work with them EVERYDAY. The final logo is a bit boring.....don't know if it was a time thing or that Jonathan had to put a stake in the ground to make it to market on time?
Nola
Did anyone notice that in the preview for next week's show, when Jonathan hits that door in a fit of anger, he does it with his elbow? That's awfully convenient, that he's so angry he has to hit something, but he's still clear headed enough to make sure he doesn't use his hand, which he needs to WORK. Most people, if they're legitimately so angry they lash out to strike something, aren't going to be thinking ahead and planning what they strike out with so that it doesn't interfere with the rest of their day. I think, whether the argument was real or not, his little elbow into the door thing was totally planned by him for attention.

Oy. Reminds me of high school guys I knew, minus the thinking ahead thing. tongue.gif

Great work Jonathon

Nola,
I have to say I don't entirely agree; no matter HOW frustrated someone might be, I KNOW they go through a whole check list of evasive strategy before striking.

[A.]rivets
[B.]2x4's

[D.}(narcissistically) is it a load bearing wall; just in case

In Jonathans case; "is this wood mahogany or ceder?" ran through his mind, I'm sure.

Nola
*laughs* Okay, I agree with the 'avoid the electrical sockets at all costs' concept. That'd be one way to give him a new hairstyle, wouldn't it? tongue.gif Still, it does seem to me that his 'spontaneous eruption' was a little too well thought out. That's just me. Having known a male or two in my time *years and years ago* who would actually hit a wall *thank god those days are over!*, I can say that none of them ever stopped to think about what they were doing to their hands... at least, not until AFTERWARD, lmao. They sure thought about it when all was said and done when their knuckles were swollen and/or bleeding...

It just kills me that a grown man, and, by all accounts, a successful one, couldn't control himself a wee bit more. Bet his buddies in the sandbox were mucho impressed.

You know, I'd give my eyeteeth *erm, which ones are those again?* to see the footage that's been edited out by Bravo, just to know how things REALLY went down, and who was REALLY in the wrong in some of these situations. Now THAT would be illuminating.
