Jonathan should stick to styling and making commercials. He comes of well on the Amex ads, but is out of his element as the "star" of his own show. Leave the spotlight to your clients Jonathan or at least tone down the over dramatization. [expletive deleted] hum…boring.
Most interesting character: Brandon, who will definitely add some spice to this otherwise boring, predictable show.

To be honest, I wanted to enjoy the show, even though I felt that the premise was so "The Restaurant" that it didn't seem original.
I feel that Jonathan has a horrible personality, and it's not being fierce, it's seedy and offensive. As with most "reality" shows, everyone is always looking for the "diva" to hate, but it shouldn't be the main character.
As the show ended, I realized that although Jonathan was struggling with getting his salon opened, I didn't feel like I sympathized with him. He didn't make me want to be in his corner.
I don't try to be evil with words under the mask of the Internet "world," but I felt so compelled to say something about the show as Jonathan is not someone that I will care about nor will I care about how well he'll do.

I absolutely loved the show, I was literally hanging on every word, glued to the screen. I am especially interested in the dynamics between the stylists/colorists. I have been in the biz for ten+ years and I thrive on the flare that hairdressers have. We are just different!

I wouldnt want to work for a slave driver like Jonathan. But then again it is BH!!! I have been in the business over 12 years and If I had to "AUDITION" for a spot in a salon I would laugh!!! But.........I will watch the show b/c I am in the Industry and I want to see how "NOT" to treat employees!!!! Rock on fellow Stylists!!!!

Wow I am really blown away, no pun intended. A complete affirmation as to why "reality" shows are fake. I flipped on Bravo looking for the West Wing and I am offered this. I saw the trailers, figured what the heck. Well you guys have outdone yourselves and all other reality producers. Not only was this too predictable ala the restaurant...oh no we aren't going to open, where is the staff..blah blah. The lead guy..jonathan..can you at least have a straight guy be the lead. this shows is overacting, contrived bs. I am glad that WW will be back tomorrow night. This show will be hard pressed to make it through one season let alone making it to a second.
maybe we can rename the show queer guy pretending to be straight guy.

I loved the show too - I posted on another thread but I was all into it!
Ok, off the bat - I love Jonathan even though I'm usually not into that kind of personality, I really do like the man and he's handsome as Hades...but I can't STAND Brandon! I can't, I can't, I can't stand that boy! I like Jason, he's a sweetie The other characters I'll have to get to know. Oh, I DO hope Jonathan and - what was her name, Nicole - I hope he and Nicole hit it off, I thought they were very cute together.
I found nothing predictable, I actually thought he's pull off getting it all together perfectly within time fram but then the wall was wrong, the lights were wrong, water was flooding - things were happening that no one really could predict...except for Brandon's behavior - he's totally predictable. I think he was put in the show to specifically get on my nerves, lol (kidding)

I was pleasantly surprised by the show. Its always kind of fun to see how people who arent actors do on camera, and everyone in the cast seemed to handle themselves really well. I also thought it was well edited which kept the action moving and funny. Jonathan obviously has ego to spare but he has a good sense of humor as well, and I liked his openess and honesty with his employees. He's also very natural on camera for someone who is not an actor. Im hoping the other episodes will be as entertaining as this one.

Take it easy guys. I think you are giving Jonathan too hard of a time. I can only imagine that doing a show like this one is a fine balancing act to say the least. Although parts are reality - let's face it, some takes are coached to make interesting television (not to mention the weeks spent editing). Nevertheless, Jonathan is a small business owner first who has a great deal to manage and therefore might appear to be short at times or even cocky. So be it.
Those in the world who know what they want and expect nothing less are rewarded with success. Jonathan appears to already have the formula and we get to watch it grow.

Oh My God! This show is terrible! I can't believe anyone would want Jonathan to do their hair - he's just creepy.
These people are so superficial that if they had been written as characters the show would have never been made. They couldn't be any flatter or more uninteresting.
Besides that - the show seemed like an extended commercial for American Express and Revlon. I won't waste my time watching another episode.

Well, I was glued to the TV...let me tell you I think Jonathon is kinda a "goon," in a funny, I can't believe he is really like this! kind of way ...my room-mate actually said, "I think he's cute."
As far a Brandon goes though...Jonathon needs to loose him and fast!

I think that in the kind of business Jonathan is in and that he is trying to make it in such a competitive location, he needs that kind of attitude. Otherwise, people will take advantage of him and walk all over him. He has the right kind of attitude to make this salon succeed!

I have to agree with Screenwriter, and the whole "oh, she's hot" straight act went over like a lead balloon. That's about as real as his nose, (didn't anyone tell him to wear sunblock for a year after the surgery so the scars would fade? By noon his makeup has worn off and you can see them).
I do give him credit for trying something risky, but AMEX is going to make sure everything comes thru, have to do that product placement.
I cannot believe in the real world that Brandon would have made it past the interview. There must be 10 better stylist for every Brandon in L.A., and he's just there for the edgy drama segments. A buddy of mine from Honolulu was recruited by Giuseppe Franco for his salon on N. Canon Dr. by word of mouth, so Jonathan could have looked for others outside of L.A. besides the over-the-hill twink from NYC.
He should just stay in West Hollywood, I'm sure he works better in an atmosphere that smells like poppers the minute you walk in.
BTW Rocco deserves what he got, he was the posterboy for ADD, he had the attention span of a cat, "I've got to straighten out the kitchen, oh look, a spoon!".

True, the man has high-profile clientelle already so he must be doing something right or else he would not have been as successful in his field as he already is. People want him to get an "attitude adjustment" but I don't find his attitude too overbearing at all...well, we'll see what future episodes bring. But the man has been working hard and he has been honest to everyone he's spoken to without going soft. I'd say he's a perfect business man for the business he wants to be in.
And regarding other's homophobic statements regarding his sexuality, what the HADES does that have to do with him trying to open up a business or upgrade his already existing business? That's not even focusing in the right direction!

I wanted to like this show when I saw the ads and I was happy to see that I was into it by the end of the night. Why? Because Jonathan is a snob. He is into "the look" of people and places and (yes, I admit it) *I* can so totally relate to that...I'm a snob and I admit it! :-) Looking good is HARD work people...take what God gave you and "work it...work it...work it"! I don't care if you are not "pretty" by conventional standards...EVERYONE can have a serious attitude...and a special "look"... You can see it on this show...different types of people...all with serious "attitude"...It's fabulous!
I also like Jonathans's style and flair and the way that he deals with people. This is *his* salon and he has to make sure his team knows who's in charge...I love it! At the same time, he seems able to tell people what he needs without hurting feelings, like the talk he had with his buddy the contractor...it needed to be done. It was a tough call, but he had to make it.
Now, Jonathan, you need to drop that Nicole chick. Dark lip liner with pasty pink gloss is so old that it's not just "15 minutes ago," its "30 minutes ago"...puhleeez...
Yes, Brandon will be interesting to watch, but not for the "sparks" he'll have with Jonathan...he's his own show by himself...
Having lived in Washington, D.C. for 15 years, I can identify with the east coast NON-attitude of Jason...you know...the nonchalant "whatever" attitude...it is soooo East Coast ("Yeah, OK, I'll come to California, but I'm keeping my East Coast options open...") ...it made me miss D.C.! LOL!
Kim, the receptionist seems cute and sweet. I hope she gets her chance to style...
One criticism. Too much "product placement"...too much Amex, too much Revelon (did I say that???), too much Lenscrafters...I don't want products pushed on me like that...too much hard sell is quite the turn off!
I'm looking forward to seeing the next installment...
Cheers!

I thought the show was brilliant. Very funny, very fast and with an interesting lot of characters. Nothing can compare to the drama of a hair salon, and Bev.Hills really is for the best of the best. I died when Jen said that it doesn't matter if Jonathan likes Brendan because Brendan loves himself. Classic. Everyone should watch.

Unfortunately I ended missing the first half hour of the show. But I loved it! I'm a former nail tech and have worked on Newbury Street in Boston, MA. I was in the industry for 14 years. I remember first going to Newbury St. and realizing how different the atmosphere was, but loving it! The only reason I left were rumors of the owner filing bankcrupsy and moving to another location that ended up closing down a well established salon.
Good luck to Jonathon, I think he'll have struggles but if he has ambition he'll make it. He should know that putting a team together that works and plays well is a huge task. Your staff can make or break you.
I think my favorite moment was him going to the salon next door and asking to borrow there sinks, HA HA. You need to be aggressive enough to ask yet thankful enough to now when you need help.
I'm looking forward to this show, I almost wish I were still in the industry so I could be there being a nail tech again!

Remove Jonathan Antin from the equation and you still have a reality show about the salon industry! So lets just leave him be! They guy is slowly growing on me and after watching it for the 3rd time, I am realizing that this guy maybe just trying to break free from that stereotype that we as hairstylist are labeled. Yes there are very feminine, male stylists out there, however there are those of us who prefer a more toned and mellow personality. I think Jonathan might be trying a bit too hard to ensure the viewers that he is in fact a HETEROSEXUAL man....and to be honest...although he has made his life public knowledge, whether he is or not...quite frankly is NONE of OUR BUSINESS!!
The show is great so far...i wouldnt change a thing.....YET!!

The product placement in this show is so wack. The opening credits plug Revon, LensCrafters and Amex so overtly its almost absurd. How are we supposed to believe that Jonathan sunk every penny he had into this salon when its so obviously supported by these three major companies?

Personally I think Jonathan is a [expletive deleted]. Someone else on here likened the show to "The Restaurant" and I have this feeling that Jonathan is going to turn out exposing the same Diva attitude that Rocco has come to reveal. Maybe my opinion will change. As for watching...I intend to watch, because like every other sheep in the world, I've become addicted to reality TV.
Hmmm...This show makes me wish that "The It Factor" was back on...I never really liked LA, but watching the rich and fabulous makes me want to be there and be in the action of the place.

Love, love, love the show. I can't wait to see all the drama in a glam salon in Beverly Hills. There is all kinds of craziness that happens in a salon. I hope this show will capture how caty this industry is, and how hard it is to run a salon. I wish you could also show crazy clients. They are the funniest.
To all those that don't like Johnathan; remember it takes a special person like him to run a super glam salon. Just take a look to see what its like to be in a high fashion salon.

Good observation! And trust me, Bravo made this meretricious monster look like Julie Andrews compared to what he's really like in person. When J.A. says "I don't want to be the monster..." well, I'm afraid it's too late. Perhaps his "quack", as he refers to his psychiatrist, will change his medication and/or the dosing. Anything would be an improvement.

Love, love, love this new show. Although the first half hour, I really did think he was gay. Damn that boy is a handsome devil. He's a self made success, it doesn't get any better than that. But Jonathan, for future reference, don't ask someone out during a job interview, could spell lawsuit. Be careful, you are in a town of goldiggers after all.
Brandon is a jackass but he will spice it up. It's good to have someone hate (like Boston Rob on Survivor). I want to see those two come to blows and Jonathan put him in his place again and again. I loved it when he told him "it's my name on the door"!
Great show, new favorite!
Where would any of us be without our stylists? I would challenge anyone to say that when they are fresh from the salon, they don't have a certain sassiness in their walk and feel a little bit better about themselves.
If only I could have someone like Jonathan cut my naturally curly, too thick hair! I think he could work miracles.

Hi everyone...I just chuckled at the sight of someone with a creative ability like that keep pounding his head against the wall trying to get the new shop done...he really, really, really needs a capable assistant to oversee the construction. You can't be everything..he is the creative arm. Let someone with a CLUE do the business stuff. WHO in their right mind would consider giving themselves ONE month to build in a salon, ESPECIALLY beginning with a family friend, not a qualified contractor? That's just not good business sense, in any form or fashion. AND, the guy comes across in my eyes as very, very, and then some, slimey. I wouldn't let him touch my hair, or my friends' hair....his leering demeanor and self worshipping comments and actions just left me cold. AND.,..,....I hope he finds a therapist who can actually help him because if he doesn't get SOMEONE to assist with getting a sense of being an adult, he's going to be sued for the things he has the nerve to say to people in a job interview and by people he fires. He might have amazing abilities as a stylist, but as a business manager...he needs a brain transplant, an adult injection and a good lawyer. SO..I'll watch and see what happens....but probably not for long. Comments?

I just finished watching the 2nd episode and I can't believe the product placement/whoring. Two of the shows sponsors were pimped tonight - LensCrafters and AmEx. Does anybody who knows L.A. honestly think a Beverly Hills salon owner/stylist buy his glasses at LensCrafters? Hell no! LA EyeWorks or Oliver Peoples - yes. LensCrafters, no. Loved the closeup of the LensCrafters glass case in Jonathan's car. And that totally spontaneous discussion between Jonathan and his assistant about how great AmEx's Open business service is. Pfft! Talk about zero credibility.
