Help, please! Does anyone know where Thom got the extra long taper candles in the Richard M. episode? I have looked at the Bed, Bath and Beyond and Baker sites with no luck. I have also checked about 8 sites on the internet with the same results. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

About a year ago, I was watching an infommercial for the skin solution Proactive. Now, I'm not usually a sucker when it comes to these infomercials but in a moment of desperation (dispair?) I ordered the products. And it was the best thing I ever did. Within 3 weeks, my face had cleared up except for a few really bad spots and within 6 weeks, my face was totally clear. It's not a cure but in the past year, I could probably count on one hand the number of new zits I've had. It's the only thing I use on my face now with the exception of a nightly cream of Nivea Q10 plus Wrinkle Control. Look Ma! I'm putting on moisturizer and my face doesn't break out!
I was gonna suggest Proactiv too! I don't use it myself, but I've seen the commercial w/ Vanessa Williams about 100 times and it's very convincing. Now we have a real live person recommending it lol. I would definitely go for it. It seems like it works.

Anyone have a cologne they recommend. I've used Gio and Polo Sport/Romance. Anything new or different
I love to wear Romance. I love the citrus and lavender notes, with sweet spices and woods. It is great for daytime wear.
Jean-Paul Gaultier also has a fragrance with fresh mint, lavender, orange blossom and woods that suits me, because I am blond and fair. Heavy, cloying fragrances are not for me.
Are you blonde or dark? Your choice of fragrance really depends on whether you can carry off a heavier, more sultry fragrance or whether you can only wear a "green" fragrance with citrus and lavender, blossoms and woods like the ones above.

What does everyone recommend for shoes? I've looked at the brands suggested on this site, Donal J. Pliner, Via Spiga, Allen-Edmonds, Clarks and Aldo. I'm looking for dress, dress casual and also something different. Has anyone tried those brands? I currently have Kenneth Cole which I like. As far as styles go is there a good direction. I've looked at monk strap, loafers and the slip-ons with the elastic. Any suggestions or thoughts on quality, comfort and style of shoes? Thanks.

My small feet aren't wide but I have a high arch and longish toes.
I like to wear quite clumpy, blunt-nosed dress shoes but I loosen them in the car, so that I can kick them off while I am driving. Shoes like that can catch in the pedals.
I sat aghast watching a 60-minutes clip about women who are having their long, second toes toes "modified" by surgical reduction so that they can wear Blahniks. Translated, that means having a section of bone REMOVED, so that their toes don't slide over the end of the sole when they are up on a 4 inch heel. Euuwwwh!!!
Ya Blahniks are fabulous girls, but......they are for wearing in the limousine to the supper date and to be discretely kicked off under the table while you dine.
Those heels totally ruin your knees and distort your lower back, jamming the joints together.

Hey! New boarder here... anywayz... I used this stuff for my face about a year ago that is so AWESOME!!! I got it from my dermatologist... I can't remember the name of it.. but it's a vitamin A toner that you put on once in the morning and once at night, then you follow it with a vitamin a rich lotion that is GREAT! My face cleared up so much... I literally had flawless skin. I'll try and find the brand name of the product. I mean... dang... the lotion is SO rich in vitamins that you can see it. Your face will stay moist all day. And it's better to use vitamin A lotion instead of popping pills for ur complexion because it goes right to the problem and it repairs scarring. I totally recommend it.
ANyway.. another reason I wanted to post was because my boyfriend has been shaving his head ever since he was 12, and now he's growing his hair out for me. But he has no idea how to style it because it's been so long since he's had any hair! Does anyone have any tips or hair styles?
OORRRR... does anyone know how kyan styles his hair? haha.

Has she wonderful square shoulders and a long neck? Then she would look verra elegant in a classic strapless gown.....kinda sophisticated and very, very feminine, very gamine Audrey Hepburn.
or what about a halter?
There is a tooth fairy, but I don't think the bosom-fairy does house-calls. Short of implants, I think you have to get a wonderbra and add to the uplift padding with tissues or something - to get more "volume" at the top of the dress basque.
Haul it all up and jam it in place. I suppose you could use a little pearly highlighter on the tops of your breasts and a little darker tint of perhaps a very light pinky/brown eyeshadow in the cleavage to give a hint of "Bosoms, I got 'em."
That guy sounds like a total jerk. Sounds like he is in love with himself. Hey, I just hope she has a wonderful prom night. If she hasn't got that killer rack then perhaps she has a cute ass and coltish legs that she can flaunt. In a kind of Renee Zellweger cocktail number!
Get that flawless, head-to-toes co-ordination thing going - the hair and the dress and the shoes.........so the eye of the beholder flows up and down. Make sure the dress colour flatters her skin and hair and eyes and carry it thorugh with the accessories - the shoes and the handbag.

Hey everyone! New poster here I am looking for a strong holding hair product that won't leave too much shine but gives good texture. I have semi-light (as in weight) hair that tends to stand up in the front early on in the day but within a couple hours begins to lose that and starts to curl backwards instead of stand up.
Currently I use a wax from TIGI that works good for getting the hair to do what I want, but doesn't do enough to make it stand, so I use a LITTLE bit of a paste to put the front up. It's just not holding long enough. I wish my hair was a little thicker cause I love the way it looks when I first do it.
Any recommendations at all? I've tried so many products!
Thanks,

Honestly, cow licks shouldn't be a problem anymore. With the styles today you should be able to find a "trendy" look that incorporates your cow lick problem. Something messy possibly. If you have semi-thick hair, maybe a wax to mess it up a little would do that trick.
Go to a salon (one that will charge you a good 20-30 dollars for a basic haircut), not some 11 dollar haircut shop and tell them what your problem is and what your ultimate goal is (IE: trendy). If they've been through the courses they should easily be able to fix you up.

Carson says that he doesn't like blunt-nosed shoes, but there is a report of what he was wearing at either the Chereskin or Mischka show in NY, where he was dressed in a wool, light-weight olive, cable sweater, charcoal pant and blunt-nosed shoes.
I personally prefer a shoe that is blunt-nosed. Longer vamps sometimes get the Turkish-slipper-curl thing going on at the tip.

Don't go mad and give into temptation use any kind of chlorine-based bleach to bring on the ageing process. It will ruin it.
Stay away from the nutmeg and cheese-grater DIY as well - the grater can catch threads and pull them.
Try a fine sandpaper, but stop rubbing the fabric if you get nervous about doing it.
What is left? Washing. Running over it with car repeatedly.
What a lot of work. I would just let it wear in naturally.

I have tried Carson's suggestion about the t-shirt and rock salt wash, but it didn't seem to work--I poured in about 3/4 of a box of the rock salt with 6 t-shirts in a machine and ran it on hot water. Next, I poured the rest of the rock salt in with just 3 tees and ran it on cold. Am I expecting too much, or did I do it wrong?
If anyone knows I would love some feedback.

Come to think of it, wouldn't you want to do it in the dryer instead, so it's just salt and fabric tumbling around?

Don't put rock-salt IN your drier and let it tumble about in free-fall - you might have an electrical fire on your hands before you know what has hit you.

NO! Don't put salt in the dryer. It will get into the motor and ruin your dryer. You might as well put rocks in the dryer. It only works in the washer because the water dissolves the salt.
If you're using soap, make sure it isn't one of the new "fade-resistant" soaps.

For the guy asking about jeans... I remember an episode where carson took someone (can't remember who at the moment) to what he called "The Denim Bar" Its a Levis store in New York and you can pretty much pick any cut, wash, ect... that you want. Robbca, I've used ProActive for over a year and I think its great. I've always had very oil skin, and I find it works very well with my skin. Word of warning though. While using ProActive, your skin will be very sensitive to the sun and you will need to use a sunscreen when you go outside. You'll need to find one that is gel based not lotion.

I have used Coolwater since high school...chicks still love it to this day! I like Polo Sport too...also, try Eternity for Men by Calvin Klein. Really, the best advice I can give you is to go to a store that specialises in toiletries/cosmetics (ie Ulta.com) and try out all of the different ones. Make sure that they have some coffee beans there too, as coffee beans neutralises any smells in your nose so that you can accurately smell the cologne on you.
Its always best to have a couple of different ones around...for variety.

Hey...
Try a medium cut jean, loose straight leg.
No tapered ankles. Check by folding the ankles up towards the
knee...less difference,the better. Don't go very wide!
Also try monochromatic tees and jeans i.e. dark navy jeans...dark navy shirt.
Lighter wash, lighter color shirt to match.
Stay away from high contrast shirts and pants.
You could also do a shirt open to create a little length, try a different color over shirt. I do believe you can tuck if the colors are the same...black with black, brown with brown

Since the John Verdi episode is my all-time fave, it's only fitting that I try a recipe from it, so I made the "man-quiche" (vegetable torta). It calls for asparagus, which I do not eat so I substituted tomatoes and cilantro and it was delicious! Between this and the recipes in the book, Ted's got me eating veggies again. I won't eat them plain, but if I can jazz them up or sneak them into a recipe, it helps. And the vitamins are good for the skin, too. See, Kyan, I may be all about praising Ted while I'm an aspiring gourmet, but I still hang on your every word.

Hello, all you wonderful, knowledgeable QE fanatics!
Well, my inquiry is not for me, it is for my friend James.
As you may have seen me mention before, one of my dear friends, James, is getting married this summer.
His fiancée, Aubrey, is moving here from Las Vegas in about a week - they have found a quaint little duplex, and are planning to get married sometime in late July.
They will both be 18 (Aubrey may be 19), and James is just out of school, so needless to say although both are/will be employed, money's kind of tight.
If any of you have any suggestions about how to have a tasteful wedding on a budet and/or where to find good, inexpensive home decor materials, they would appreciate it immensely.
Thanks a bunch!

Most cool, my_guy_ky! My daughter loves Ted's cooking abilities and wants to try his recipies, or anything similiar to what he would like.
When we went shopping last week, we bought something called beef pizzaziola (or something like that) because "Ted would like that". I didn't know if mamma would like that but I'm trying to teach her how to cook different things anyway. So the other night she breaks it out to cook. They are 3 thin and wide strips of beef wrapped around carrots sliced thin, spinach, and other veggies (I'm sure) and then there was mozzarella (and maybe ricotta) in it. We didn't have the ingredients to make it like it says on the package so I helped her with her own version. She lightly browned the meat on all sides like the package says, then instead of adding whole tomatoes, she added Wegmans spaghetti sauce - garlic and herb. They make the best sauce! She let it simmer low for 40 minutes, turning the rolls of meat over every now and then and when she finished, it was a beautiful thing! And OMG was it good! We are DEFINITELY going to make those again! I wish Ted could have tasted them!

What a shame you don't like asparagus! I grow them in my garden and I have discovered a wonderful new addition to the crudite platter - raw, baby asparagus. Asaparagus take absolute ages to get established in the garden and I am impatient, watching greedily for the spears to push their way up. I gave into my desire for fresh asparagus. I couldn't stand it any longer -so I began to graze - snacking on some baby spears - they were wonderful!
Great to add to a salad or a platter.

My favorite hip tips of all time:
Carson: Warren L. episode
"Not only have hat hair but static too? Use a static reducer to spray the inside of your hat and keep that Doris Day bounce."
That flip is so him.
Jai: Kevin D. episode
"Mentors aren't just for kids. Their wisdom comes from personal experience and you can't get that in a book."
He and that "construction worker" made a cute couple.
Thom: Richard M. and other episodes
"Is your bath mat leaving you limp and soggy in the design department? Replace it with a natural doormat. It's durable, waterproof and completely unexpected."
Well, duh! This is almost everyone's favorite.
Ted: Holiday Reunion
No Offense To Those Who Like Fruitcake (which I do, BTW)
"The fruitcake: a holiday tradition. But then so is sitting on laps in department stores. When you're giving the gift of food, consider giving something people would actually want to eat."
Well, I've posted about this one before
Ky: Richard M. episode
"Athletes are hot, but sometimes they burn. So if you're going to be out in the sun, apply an SPF 15 minutes before you go."
Okay, most Kyan fans might've gone with one of those HipTips where he's shirtless, and yeah! I can't blame them. But I chose this one for the hairstyle, the lighting and the way it plays up those eyes. Oh, yeah, and because athletes ARE hot!

I am not an American, I am an Exotic Empress from The Southern Seas - so the product lines I use (Red Earth) may make no sense to you.
Look for a product like my favourite Relaxing Body Mud, that has some essential oils like marjoram and sage and mandarin and apricot kernel oil and glycerine.
A pharmacy may stock Fuller's Earth (kaolin) or be able to get it for you. It is an incredibly fine powder that you can add liquids to quite easily.
I am quite curious about adapting and making my own recipe for my facial skin - my pot of masque is reaching the bottom - this DIY is something to conjure with......note to self: visit the library.
